Very very rude owner of the hotel. Really wouldn’t recommend staying here. The property is very old so you will be kept awake constantly by other guests upstairs and to the side of you. There has been no investment in sound proofing at all making it totally inappropriate for a peaceful stay. If you stay at the back of the hotel; for extra money the owner rents the garden out for parties, so you will have to stay in your room while there is excruciatingly loud music outside (so loud you cannot think) and you will need to keep your curtains closed as people can see directly into your room. (DM to see videos). The breakfast is horrible. The standards have dropped. The owner of the hotel is very tight with money and has put prices up for a way worse standard of stay.
For the ridiculous price you can get so much better in Paris! This is not a luxury hotel, it’s far from it. I will never stay here again.

This is my second time staying at Hôtel Alfred Sommier, and it remains one of the most charming hotels I’ve experienced in Paris. It has the atmosphere of a private château tucked into the city - elegant, intimate, and full of character - while still feeling distinctly Parisian rather than overly formal or staged.

The location is excellent: quiet yet central, within walking distance of many of Paris’ most beautiful areas. The rooms are refined and comfortable, and the overall design preserves the historical soul of the building without sacrificing modern comfort.

What stands out most is the feeling of calm and understated luxury. After busy days in Paris, returning to the hotel genuinely feels relaxing. The staff were professional and welcoming throughout my stay.

I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to travelers looking for something more personal and atmospheric than a standard luxury hotel.

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The property was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, but what truly made our stay special was the exceptional service we received from Vincent.

From the moment we arrived, Vincent greeted us warmly and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. He was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely cared about our luggage, he made sure it was properly stored while we were on a tour outside Paris and delivered to our room. His positive attitude and hospitality made a lasting impression on us and truly elevated our entire stay.

The staff was super helpful and friendly, but what I don't' understand is why if there are two people in your party they through Expedia only allow 1 breakfast per day? It makes no sense. Everyday something was wrong. Coffee maker broken, dirty water glasses upon arrival, no wash clothes provided one day, no coffee pods or sugar the next. for a \"5 star\" hotel some of the small details were not there. I will say though the staff was super friendly and quick to fix the issues and problems. The room was clean but the bathroom door handle was broken, also if you have knee or leg problems getting into the shower/tub will be hard due to the height of the bathtub. Beds are comfortable and cozey to sleep. Room service staff amazing. Another plus is the hotel is about 20 to 30 minute walk from pretty much everything and the Metro is 4 minute walk away. Fix the small little things and it will be a true \"5\" star experience.

What was intended to be a special trip for my wife’s 30th birthday became a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience due to a series of entirely avoidable issues.

1. Premature and Unauthorised Payment
Despite being explicitly told that payment would be taken upon arrival, the full amount was charged the day after booking—three months prior to our check-in date. This is completely unacceptable and a breach of the terms communicated to us.

2. Lack of Basic Hospitality on Arrival
Upon arrival, we received no assistance whatsoever with our luggage, nor were we shown to our room. We later watched other guests being offered this service, which made the inconsistency—and neglect—particularly stark.

3. Poor Room Condition and Maintenance Issues
While the room itself was basic but passable, the bathroom was clearly suffering from water damage and wear, especially around the door. It quickly became obvious why: the shower leaked significantly, with water spilling out every time we entered or exited. This is not only poor maintenance but also a safety hazard.

4. Inaccessible Room & Absence of Staff Late at Night
Returning to the hotel around 10:30pm one evening, we discovered that all of our room keys had been deactivated. When we went to reception, there was no one present. We waited around 15 minutes, looking for staff, only to eventually find someone who told us to wait again without making any attempt to actually call for help. We advised the Hotel that we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and the Hotel did not acknowledge. Our room was very nice and comfortable but the hallways were terrible. The carpets were old and dirty. The common areas are not well kept. Marble is dull and looks dirty. Entrance is dark, unkept and unwelcoming. Definitely is not a 5 star hotel and is barely a 4 star at best. One day, we were out all day and our room was not cleaned when we returned at 15:00z

Being near the Madeline is a great location. The rooms are small, some very small for a high price. The inner courtyard allows light in the rooms but can be loud with cars, rolling suitcases, groups and motorcycles if you stay on a lower floor. The gym is small. It is a former house which provides some charm but it operates more like a house, than a hotel. Some front desk staff could be more helpful and knowledgeable.

I loved everything about this property! Hotels are my love language and I fell in love with Hotel Alfred Sommier. I spent one week here with my mom and aunt on what was a bucket list vacation for us! The hotel is dripping in authentically Parisian style, from the gorgeous hardwood floors and wooden windows to the elegant decor and inviting lobby/salon. Particularly impressive was the warmth of the Hotel's CEO who is a direct descendant of Alfred Sommier himself. With effortless charm and charisma, he enlightened us with the history of the hotel which is quite fascinating as the hotel is the Sommier's former family home originally built in 1890. The mansion now houses all of the modern conveniences that guests of luxury properties would expect. The location in the 8th arrondissement was was perfect and very walkable to all of the major attractions in this beautiful city! I loved it and with any luck will return time and time again! Thank you Hotel Alfred Sommier, it was a memorable experience!

The service wasn’t that friendly, the junior suite we got wasn’t as pretty as pictured and the WiFi is terribly slow. I couldn’t even load YouTube short videos or instagram reels. It was basically enough to check email. I would not recommend the breakfast service; it was very understaffed, pretty limited spread and just not worth the money.

For the pros, it was an amazing location, the suite was clean and nice with a narrow terrace. The bed was comfortable. The overall hotel aesthetic was nice but it did not feel homey because the service was so cold (adequate but definitely don’t expect smiles or warmth).

To me, this was a 4 star experience but I expected 5 stars so a little disappointed but our stay was fine. I probably would not return though.

The property was lovely, clean and impressive. I chose this based on the recommendations of how attentive the team are to your needs. I was celebrating my birthday during my stay and had requested some ideas on what to do as this was not my first time in Paris. Sadly - I never felt looked after, nothing special was done to recognize or acknowledge this. One hotel staff did finally at least recommend a place for dinner. I have plans to return next year with a larger group for a another important celebration and had the intention of returning but will not.

I booked online and I booked a room that said sleeps three, but when we got there they made us pay $100 a night for a rollaway for my son. It was hot, and they said they don’t turn on the AC in March. After flying in, We wanted cool and quiet but construction was going on in the room next door, and it was very noisy. Overpriced, not comfortable!

The Alfred Sommier Hotel is absolutely EXQUISITE. The owner makes it a point to get to know you personally and make you feel at home. The excellent and attentive staff (Clemence/Manager; Maeva/Concierge; Henri and Ghalia/Front Desk) were so lovely, joyful and kind. I ate dinner in the beautiful restaurant with DELICIOUS food and equally lovely and attentive service! My room was dreamy and oh so French!! Beautiful hotel, great location and friendly staff.
Issues: shower wouldn’t drain (they fixed it quickly), room was a bit cold and the thermostat didn’t go above 21, the curtains wouldn’t close.

We had a triple premium suite. The layout of the suite was quite small due to the second bedroom. The wall to wall carpet was stained. However, the beds were very comfortable, and the swing open double windows with a view of the property was a nice perk. The bathroom was updated and clean with a generously sized soaking tub, and double sink. The linens and towels were clean and of good quality. Housekeeping did a wonderful job.

The breakfast buffet was a lovely and convenient option. The staff member who appeared the be of Asian descent at the buffet was very attentive and kind.

The gym was extremely minimal.

The property itself was beautiful.
