The Marco Polo is a great hotel to stay in Cebu city. Staff are all amazing. After a 36 hour travel day from Canada they gave us an early room checkin. The Breakfast buffet is amazing with so much selection with a lot of the items changed every day. Our room with a sea view on the 21st floor had an amazing view of Cebu city. Will definitely stay again when I return to Cebu City.

I think it is the confusion about the breakfast. All along, I have the impression that my booking for 3 days for two rooms includes breakfast.
Secondly, I am not impressed with the breakfast buffet. There is a selection of foods (American, Japanese, Filipino, etc), but not much variety.

The good: Clean Room, the staff was very accommodating and pleasant . Food ordered through room service was excellent. We did not use the pool, but the pool did look nice as well as the seating area around the pool. Good view of the mountains from our room. Good Aircon.

The bad: The buffet for dinner was expensive ($96 USD for 2) and was hectic and most of the food was cold/warm and mediocre at best. The bed in our room was very hard and uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet in the morning had A long line and was very busy and hectic. Opted for room service instead of waiting in line to enter the buffet.

Very pleasant checking although I arrived at midnight. The airport transportation by hotel connection was professional and very nice vehicles. The hotel is beautiful. Room is 20th with city view. Spotless. Did not have time to enjoy breakfast buffet but the display are huge and colorful live big Las Vegas hotels.

The room was a bit shabby, there were large street parties going on till 3am with loud music . Kids pool and Jacuzzi was out of servive. Bar could not make drinks with olives or bananas or coconut for the 7 days I was there. Breakfast was goid and staff helpful.

This has been my second stay at Marco Polo it was an excellent experience from check-in being smooth and easy to the politeness of the staff and their willingness to help you with any issues or questions to the cleanliness of the entire hotel including the property outside the outdoor dining was very enjoyable to the pool staff having fresh towels for you and a nice outdoor shower to rinse off with great food options we had the Italian cuisine on the poolside patio in our swimsuits and flip flops great spaghetti bolognese the Ruben sandwich with extra dressing was superb and even the seafood pizza was excellent and the breakfast buffet is second to none great food with lots of options from bread and rolls to waffles and pancakes to about 12 main dishes to making you eggs anyway you want them I went with the ham and cheese omelet to fresh made bowls of ramen or rice noodle soup fresh juice drinks and coffee to the fresh fruits for dessert I would stay here everyday of the year if I could

The hotel owner should visit this hotel. It is iconic but neglected by the current owner you can tell. The previous owner used to stay at the hotel once every 3 months or so. But he died and the son isn’t coming around. The hotel is excellent but it was better 10 years ago.

The room is clean. Breakfast is good. Until thy have a fire drill they left the alarm on for a loooong time even that we know it’s just a drill we called the front desks because we don’t hear what’s being said in their PA system. Their shower there’s nowhere we put our own shampoo and soap.

The breakfast was really good! So much options and they tastes really good. Room was clean. The entrance just look gloomy, especially at night. It makes the hotel vibe more of spooky-like. The staff were amazing though. They were also ready to help. The transportation is kinda like a little issue. Since the location of the hotel is up the hill, it takes time to book a grab car. But other than that, we had a great time during our stay in Marco Polo.

Room was very outdated and not maintained. Hooks were breaking off, shower was very weak. At one point only one side of the elevators were working and there was such a big event going on it took forever for us to just get an elevator we can go on. Staff is friendly.

The only down side to Marco Polo is that it was a good distance from the things I wanted to do, like IT Park and Ayala Mall. There weren't too many dining options around the property, but the on site restaurant and staff made me feel as though I didn't have to leave to get a good meal and excellent service.
There was one taxi driver, my first night in the Philippines, who took advantage of a foreigner and charged much more than he should have. Make sure your taxi driver uses the meter to prevent this from happening to you.

The hotel has an attractive exterior and a good location, but the rooms are old and outdated and in need of renovation to attract more guests. I also feel that the current room rates are quite high given the condition of the rooms. Upgrading the rooms could help draw more visitors and improve overall satisfaction. It has a possibility of becoming a 5 star hotel if the interiors especially the rooms will be upgraded.

We stay here often because it is above the City's smog. But we have noticed this past 18mos that the service, facility, rooms, f&b pricing and relationship with Expedia has changed. Expedia let us book a Premium Sea View. Both King and Twin are available, so I wrote the hotel and asked for King preference. I wasn't able to call the local landline at that time. When we arrived, staff did accommodate our request, but it was hard on them. Expedia should be more specific with booking options. It is hard to eat anywhere else when you are far from Ayala, and most of the meals are well over priced, evenP Php above the recently awarded 'best restaurant in Cebu'. Along with the food/buffet, we noticed several other foreign guests need to have some sanitary lessons, like touching all the dessert containers without taking, putting food back after putting it on their plate and poking fruit with their fingers. This is how travellers get sick, but staff don't correct anyone's behavior. Another food note, if there is a big event, or one of the on-site restaurants is booked out, food prep and delivery in the other areas suffer. The carpets in hallway and room of our floor need to have deep clean. The paint is peeling in bathroom and handtowel rack was not attached. With the best pool in the City, we want to keep staying here, but this is not the Marco Polo we are accustomed to visiting numerous times a year.

I booked for 2 adults and 1 child. Expedia clearly stated breakfast for 3.
But they charge us for the 3rd person. We even showed them conversation from Expedia and the booking itself that said breakfast for 3. The manager, front staff, and other workers were extremely rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. Never will we stay here again.
