I chose this hotel because it had good reviews and was listed as a 3-star hotel. It is most certainly not a 3-star hotel...this is a 1-star hotel and it's awful. The beds are so uncomfortable I could barely sleep and it ruined by climbing trip. I left early because the room was so bad and I was so uncomfortable. Nothing has been updated in decades, it's gross/dirty, the air is stale, everything in the room is grungy, the WiFi is actually useless, and it's just a terrible spot in all honesty. It is not worth $100/night at all and I would not recommend staying here. I really wish I could get a refund.

The place is awaiting a renovation. All but a few rooms are closed off. Amenities are all closed. Everything is dilapidated. New owners should forego the few dollars they get from renting 10 rooms out of 300, and just await the renovations.

Got a call 20 minutes before checking in that the room I had booked (king bed) weeks in advance was no longer available and that I'd have to take a room with double beds (which was cheaper than my King room) but I wouldn't be refunded the difference. Was told there wasn't anything they could do since they were 'renovating' ALL of the king rooms apparently.

This place is definitely in need of renovations too as it's straight out of the 1980s... don't expect the wifi to work either because it doesn't. The rooms also lacked privacy blinds on the windows aside from some ultra-thin see-through material that doesn't block anyone from looking in. We were on the 2nd floor but our room was wide open for people to look in (as 2 men did) from across the way. There was no way to prevent them from looking in since there weren't any blinds on the windows or curtains. Aside from the price, there aren't any real redeemable factors for staying at this hotel and I would suggest avoiding it. It doesn't help that the exterior of the building looks like it has been abandoned for years.

Even though we showed up after 9pm, our room was not ready, in fact, they sent us to the room apparently without knowing the room was in disarray..beds not made, sheets thrown around the room, etc. We were given another room with the unnecessarily long explanation of the many reasons this could have happened before giving us another room. There was also a promise of telling management in the hopes that it would be made up to us..of course, nothing came of this because we booked through Expedia.Both hotels booked through Expedia have a real distaste for the partnership and vocalize it as if it's the customer's problem or fault that this is not amenable to the hotel...according to them. When asked about the \"fitness area\", we were quickly warned that we may see some disrepair because they're doing a multi-million dollar reno that makes everything look terrible. As I went to the area, I saw the \"reno\": wallpaper being removed to reveal an obvious huge mold issue, filthy carpet, abandoned rooms, outdoor furniture inside,etc. Breakfast was a limited odd selection with paper plates and plasticware. Very sad, but certainly misrepresented on Expedia...shame on you for not knowing your properties better.

Hot water and Wi-Fi both were out during my stay. Overall this is a pretty run-down place not worth what I paid. I would put it about tied with your common $80/night motel. I paid about double that, and will not be staying again.

We stayed here after a long day of sightseeing and it was pretty nice. Bar and restaurant were no longer open but the breakfast buffet was pretty good. The whole place just kind of needs a makeover which we were told it was recently purchased by different owners that were looking to renovate and get back to it's original glory. I wouldn't shy away from here but also wouldn't say it'd be my only choice if there were different options. I'd give the new owners the benefit of the doubt though. The front desk girl although I forget her name was surely a go getter that should help make people want to stay there also. She was knowledgeable and very easy for us to talk to also helped us with a slight issue.

The following items were not available or out of service: Wifi, vending machine, ice machine, elevator, pool, coffee in lobby, tissues in room. At breakfast the powdered scrambled eggs were stone cold and very poorly prepared. .They were grainy. There were no knives available at breakfast. The early morning clerk at the desk had no access to systems to check us out and provide a receipt. I do not feel this property was ready to do business and we were very dissatisfied with it.

The rooms while falling apart, quite literally (wallpaper peeling, doors broken, walls cracked) we’re at the very least clean, bedding, bathroom etc, as much as they could be with extremely outdated furniture and fixtures. The black out curtains had multiple tears and holes in them so there was always light coming through the sheers. Definitely needs updated and a good deep cleaning throughout the hotel, the hall and entryway carpet was disturbingly dirty and stained. Everything was dusty and very outdated. Will definitely not be back. I will say the staff was very friendly.

This is a hotel in decline. Much of the property was closed off or in desperate need of repair. There are some parts where construction was being done, but I didn't get the impression work was being done consistently. Pool was closed, gym was laughably outdated. Restaurant/lounge was also shut down, as well as all vending machines. That being said I could tell they were trying their best. The room was clean, and the parts of the hotel that were open were also clean and orderly. I do hope they are able to finish repairs and get back up to speed, they have a lot of potential.

Although the front desk staff were pleasant, it was very apparent that the property was very rundown. There was no Wi-Fi, pool, vending machines, poor TV reception, and the free breakfast was marginal. We really should have looked at reviews online prior to booking and staying at this property. Unfortunately, there are a few hotels in the Oak Hill, West Virginia area. We were told there is a new owner, but it is our recommendation that the property should close and have renovations and upgrades made before they open it the public again.

The Owner needs to be honest with the customer.

This place needs to be shut down until its renovated. The staff has been telling people its under new management and renovation but nothing has happened in over a year. The roof over the pool and spa are caved into the standing water and they put paper over the windows so the guests do notice. The front façade and roof was falling off. There was a sign at the desk saying there is no bar or restaurant or Wifi or Elevator or pool or spa.. Is HOTEL.COM NOT READING THE REVIEWS.. I don't blame the staff they are all doing what they can. THE OWNER is responsible and is not being honest at the time of booking. I would have camped if I knew all this stuff was out of order. The staff is not to blame- The rooms were clean (old sheets and torn drapes.)

Our room itself was clean and somewhat updated. The rest of the facilities clearly are in need of some TLC and updating. Breakfast items were very limited and some supplies like creamer were unavailable on the morning we ate breakfast. This hotel was priced a little bit cheaper than others in the area and for the timeframe we stayed. The staff noted that they were under new management and that hopefully upgrades would be coming in the future.

Stayed for one night with my boys. Hotel was very dated. Wall paper coming off walls in stairwell. Amenities were all closed (but knew that coming in). Probably my biggest disappointment was the fact that the pillows on the bed were all half pillows. There were no full size. That may be fine for my kids, but I created a very uncomfortable nights sleep. Both double beds also were sloped and not level. My younger son actually slid out of bed in the middle of the night. I only needed one night, but if I had needed a second, I would’ve found another place.

The listing on Expedia did not match the hotel whatsoever. The elevator did not work, the pool was closed, there was no wifi, and there was no cable tv. They did have breakfast, but it was the exact same thing every morning. Apparently, we were told by an employee, that the hotel had recently been bought and it was under renovations. We did not see any construction workers nor any renovational work being performed at any time during our stay.

A BAT LANDED ON ME WHILE I WAS TRYIMG TO SLEEP. THEY REFUSED TO REFUND ME. That’s all you need to know.

I had to book at this place because it was literally the only room in town and I had to be there for work. We live in a rural area and hotels being booked up isn’t usually a thing but there was a big Boy Scout Jamboree happening and I spaced it so I had to make do. I’m a native WV Farm girl and an RN. I’m fine as long as there’s no bugs/critters and it’s clean.

Lobby looks like it was decorated circa 1991. It’s dingy and dated. Staff was out front sitting on the curb smoking. They greeted me quickly and were super nice but I’m not sure anyone had teeth—also fine, we’re a poor rural state. It gave me pause but I try not to judge. Elevator was broken and room was on the 3rd floor. I was exhausted from a long drive and 12 hour shift so that was a chore with luggage but also—fine. I’m a big girl and I can carry some stuff. Had to go buy a power strip with USB ports bc there’s not any in the room. Also fine. I’m flexible.
All of this to say my expectations were low and they somehow still managed to screw it up. Bats happen—especially in a rural area in an older building under renovations. But I was TERRIFIED seeing a bat fly at me (AFTER I TURNED ON THE LIGHTS BC I FELT IT LAND ON ME IN BED) and the two staff who came upstairs to “help” me were anything BUT helpful and apologetic. Instead I was gaslit—the guy literally told me there was no bat.

Several room doors were just open as we went down the hall, and the clerk had to use the master key to let us in because the room wouldn’t unlock. Breakfast was bare and not worth it. We were very disappointed in this hotel & surprised that Expedia even would recommend it! First, the elevator & Wi-fi weren’t working. Then our shower would not work. They had the stairway doors & even the front door propped open, & there was no attendant when we were checking out for us to talk with, & we waited about 20 minutes. This looks like the remains of a once fine hotel. It is definitely not a 3 star hotel at this time. The wifi, pool, hot tub, restaurant, bar, elevator, and pop machine were all closed. The included breakfast was sparse but adequate, although I ate my bran flakes out of a cup filled with creamed coffee since there was neither a bowl nor milk available. The staff did accommodate us with the requested rolling bed for our son, but they had to \"find it\" for us after check-in. All in all, this was not worth the price compared to the listed prices for other hotels that were nearby.

When I checked in I was told I should have received a phone call (I did not). The pool, hot tub, restaurant, and bar are all down for 'maintenance'. (It appeared the roof fell in)
The elevators were out of order, and the wifi was down. After reading several reviews afterwards, it appears this has been ongoing for almost a year. Comfy bed but stained blankets and very small pillows. Property has a lot of potential and the breakfast was great. Friendly staff. But overall, do not recommend.

So far, within 15 mins, I’m not overly impressed. It was difficult to turn the shower on. I had to push on the wall and yank the knob really hard to get it to turn on. Then it took 5 mins just to get lukewarm water. After about 10 minutes of letting it run, it finally got hot. Be careful getting out of the shower.. make sure you put a towel down first or you’ll slide. The room was nice and roomy. Decent price for what you get.

The room was great. Clean and everything worked as expected. The staff was very friendly. When they get the restaurant open again, I'm sure it will be a great place to eat. The breakfast would've been excellent also if they would've kept the food trays filled. The first morning we didn't even eat here because there wasn't anything left. Second morning there was just enough eggs and sausage left for us and the coffee was empty at 8 o'clock.

Old, dirty, in need of new furniture, paint, carpet, curtains, needs complete renovation. Lack of staff. Cafe was lousy. No one ever replaced breakfast food or dishes during 3 hr breakfast buffet. Had to ask for coffee to be made. No staff around to maintain breakfast food, clean up after guests left tables. One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Indoor pool was empty and hot tub had dirty brown water in it. I had to ask housekeeping to clean bathroom toilet , sink and tables in room as soon as we checked in because you could see the dirt.

My family stays at the hotel 2-3 times a year and been doing it for 10 plus years. I went with 3 family members in Feb it was awful. The bar was closed and the piol was empty we were looking forward to the pool. We asked front desk about it was told they were remodeling. We told them we was planning on staying there Memorial Day weekend along with lots of family having a reunion also visiting family gravesites in Oak Hill . We were informed it would be opened. Well it wasnt..but nothing had been done to pool or bar also main bathroom near front desk was still closed...so after travelling you wouldn't be able to use the restroom til after you check in. I arrived with my 78 year old mom on Friday May 26th after checking in and having a cart with cooler,3 bags and pillows was told we was on the 3rd floor but would have to take the stairs cause elevator was broke. I told them there was no way we could carry all our stuff up the stairs. They found a room on 1st floor. Finally got to room went to get ice well ice machine said out order to yse 3rd floor ice machine walked up to 3rd floor it wasn't working either. My room was clean along with 2 other rooms family had got...but my brother made it in and ac was broke they moved him his wife and 2 yr old grandson to another room. The ac worked but room was dirty bathroom had hair on toilet and tub. My sister then checked her room same problems but bed bugs also which she had pictures of. The other family went to different hotels

The lobby was inviting & cozy. The desk clerk worked diligently under adverse circumstances to be accommodating. Beds were comfortable. The 4th Room we finally were put into was clean and quiet. Nice TV, fridge, and coffeemaker.
Con: The lobby restrooms were unusable because they had been deliberately sabotaged by a previous user. The pool was drained. The original room we were given was on an upper floor but the elevators were broken. Next room we were given was already occupied! 3rd room we got had not been cleaned from previous occupant - dirty sheets, towels, and bathroom. 4th room was clean and comfortable, but after we got unpacked we discovered the shower/bathtub faucet was not functional. We could not shower or bathe. I tried repeatedly to contact the front desk about this but the calls did not go through or were unanswered. So, Broken ice machine, elevators, vending machines, room telephone, shower, and it is under construction.
This lodge has great potential, and helpful staff, but it is not completely ready for guests.

The staff was friendly, room was clean, and it was quiet.
I was disappointed the hotel bar was closed and a couple of the windows of the bar were busted out as well as the trees in the courtyard had been cut down but the wood had not been removed.
Was told the property was under a major renovation and the were in the process of getting their liquor license renewed and they were having to clean up issues they were not aware of that hadn't been disclosed by the previous owner.
Otherwise, I've stayed here several other times and have always had a quiet stay, which was the case this time other than the renovation.

This was a nice place to stay that’s was 3 minutes from where we visited. It was clean and the room was a nice size. The only complaint I have is the so called breakfast buffet hours were 6-9am. That’s really early when I’m vacation. Also, there wasn’t any non pork selection. There was eggs and sausage, sausage gravy and pastries. Other than that, I would definitely recommend. A bonus was it was right off intrastate 19.

The workers were very nice however the property is very old and run down. The pool was closed, the hotel lounge and bar was closed, half the hotel was shut down. Our room was clean enough but the air conditioning unit was old and dusty. The breakfast in the morning was okay- the biscuits and sausage were good and the eggs were okay. We won’t be staying here again.
