Freindly staff, Hannah was awesome - checked us in early and was so kind the entire stay. The food was delicious and the chef came by many times to make sure all was good.
Evening bar staff were just as friendly and helpful. Nice location for walking around town.

Only drawback was lack of any WiFi in room. It just did not work and made it tough to contact & make plans with friends.

Nice stay but hope no elephant in the room above!

i was welcomed and rapidly checked in and shown to my room.
This furniture was simple but comfortable. There was a small seating area with a couple of softer chairs.
The bathroom was small but perfectly functional.
Breakfast was in the pub and was a continental self service style with predominantly cereals and toast, some cold meats and a few pastries. Caetainly enough to feel full.
I noted a few minor issues. The rooms are looking a little worn. There are few plug sockets and none easily accessible near the bed so difficult to charge a couple of phones. I found the internet quite variable particularly in the evening and struggeld to get and maintain reception at times.
Remember this is a pub. Although the rooms are in a separate building they are next to the pub open air space which was used and so can be noisy, I would also recommend asking for an upstairs room as the floors transitted sounds easily and if the visitor upstairs is a little heavy footed as they were on my first night it can be very disturbing as they move around.
However, my stay was pleaseant and in a good position in the city and I would indeed consider staying again.

The rooms at The George and Dragon Inn were basic but comfortable. The room had a couple of steps between the sleeping area and bathroom which seemed and were dangerous in the dark. The bathroom was small and shower difficult to direct. Breakfast was a basic continental served in the bar area of the pub. The location was very convenient for the town centre and close to a large car park.

The staff at the George and Dragon was delightful and accommodating. And the room was okay. But the rooms are in the back of a pub so it is quite noisy. They do close at 11:00 pm so if you don’t go to sleep til after 11 you will be fine but it is noisy until 11:00, especially if the weather is good. There is a patio behind the pub next to the rooms so if the weather is good there are a lot of people out on the patio which makes it even noisier.

We were disappointed in our stay as it wasn’t as good as the last time we stayed a year ago.
The decor is very tired and the basin in both rooms didn’t drain properly.The beds were very uncomfortable and we could feel all the springs!
The conservatory has been turned into a pool table room which was very noisy and also meant we couldn’t eat breakfast in there this time. There was no cooked breakfast this time, although the continental breakfast was good.

The walk through the pub & past the Public toilets was delightful and pungent! The room was dated, dust on the glass table with frayed carpet edge's. Not the cleanest, my partner said \"somewhere to just lay our head\" and it was late late evening when we arrived i suppose the asking price of £99.00 reduced to £89.00 with breakfast included, swayed the booking decision, i find it amazing how great the pictures look on the web site.

The 4 gang extansion socket on the breakfast table was dirty.
The brush and long handle bin scoop were dirty and sat next to a dirty plant pot,

The server who greeted us felt like we were disturbing her whilst she was eating her breakfast.

BREAKFAST - the coffee machine provided the weakest coffee, asked the server and she agreed, no altranative offered.

Scrambled egg on the toast with its juices made the toast soggy. my cooked breakfast, started well but the sausage was under cooked & pink and tasted sour, that was it, my partner couldnt eat the scrambled, time to leave.

BEER GARDEN - Again looks like a well used area and dated and untidy / dirty.

I suppose just a well used pub with not much thought of the room guest experiencing the state of the place first thing in the morning and with another walk past the toilets. Oh my word the smell !!

Oh, and when were asked to leave by the rear entrance through the beer garden past the bin store area. What a delightful sight. A dumping ground.

Would I stayed there again? NEVER EVER!!

I booked two rooms here at Easter. The price was high considering its a pub in Chichester, but it was Easter weekend and the picutures on both Expedia and the pub's own website looked lovely.Don't be decieved! It was hands down the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. It was dirty, uncomfortable, damp and smelly. The fascilities were cheap and old - like staying in a really bad, very low budget, youth hostel. I didnt want to touch anything and couldn't wait for morning to leave. And I was the lucky one. My mother's room smelt so damp and mould. Her sheets were damp and she woke with a bad cough from the moisture in the air. Rather than sneaking off and leaving a bad review, I went to speak to the manager in the morning to tell him I wasn't happy. He agreed the rooms are bad (as did his staff) but he had just taken over and was about to do lots of improvements. He said I should contact Expedia - warned me they would take forever to reply, but he would approve a part refund the rooms. I did exactly this. Expedia were very quick, he lied about this, but when I raised the complaint it was refused by the hotel. I queried this explaining that the manager had already approved it and again they refused it. As I explained to the manager it was a real shame because my father lives around the corner and his house isnt big enough for our very big family to stay so if it been nice or even satisfactory, we'd be staying there often and spending a lot of money with them.

Superb Choice for accommodation and food

Visited Chichester for one night. Chose the George and Dragon based on location and price. I was very impressed... the room, in the converted stables was very comfortable and quiet. Amazing array of tea/coffee making facilities and room very clean and well equipped. Chose to eat dinner at the pub and was extremely impressed with the food. Breakfast, as well, was very good. Good selection of drinks and real ale - a lovely friendly, homely pub. Very good location for walking into the city or for those going to the theatre. Car parking on the nearby car park very easy. I would certainly stay here again.

Avoid this place, terrible stay /bad experience

Incredibly upset with the service provided. At the time we stayed we had no electricity and no resolution was found, when the staff went to try fix the issue they just left our door open where anyone could go in. I paid a premium for the room and the bed was uncomfortable, no electricity and well over priced. The manager assured me I would be reimbursed with a small sum of £20 for my inconvenience though has since ignored my email (having sent 3 reminders) and called several times.

Staying at the George and Dragon Inn was very good value for money as a continental / cooked breakfast was also included in the price.

The rooms are spacious with ensuite bathrooms, and daily housekeeping. The room had slight cleanliness issues which is why I have marked it down compared to my previous stay (nothing major). The room was a little tired (chips in the paintwork), the arm chair had seen better days, and the window pain needs replacing.

With a little TLC the team could charge a higher price, but as it stands its good value for money, and I would return again. The staff are really nice.

Unreliable booking system and tired property

Overall this property is a great location but rather tired and in need of renovation works although the rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff pleasant although had run out of several breakfast items. Main complaint is the unreliability of the booking. We initially booked last year for the Goodwood revival but were rung days before to tell us the booking was cancelled due to renovation - at such short notice nothing else was available so our weekend was spoilt. Gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt and rebooked 3 rooms for a graduation - our two rooms were fine, but the third which was booked separately was again cancelled by a phone call less than a week before. This time the booking intermediary was blamed for over-booking - a refund has still not been obtained two weeks on. For this reason I would NOT recommend this hotel as it cannot be relied upon.

Excellent value comfortable stay right in the centre of Chichester. Stable rooms at the back feel private and the side entrance means you don't have to come and go via the bar. No parking at the hotel but Chichester has several car parks including the Cattle market where you can park for 24hrs for under £10. Breakfast was a lovely treat and included smoked salmon and scambled egg or crushed advocado and poached egg as well as the more traditional full english. Will definitely be going back.

1. Parking. We arrived to find the carpark recommended by the hotel had a fair ground on it. Apparently this is an annual event so why didn't they warn us?
2. Our room 5 was on the ground floor. Later that evening we heard a prolonged thumping and banging from the room above as the occupants arrived. The rooms are in no way soundproof and it is a pub!
3. There were no cups and saucers in the room when we arrived and I had to ask and collect them myself.
4.The breakfast was excellent.
5. The shower was grubby and there was no soap dish.
6.The beds are old divans and have seen better days.

I had a lovely few days in Chichester staying here at the George and Dragon Inn.

I was given a warm welcome and was shown to my room. The pub had a nice atmosphere with people enjoying their time together.

The room was nice and spacious, the bed in my room was huge and comfortable. Lots of free tea, coffie, and biscuits throughtout the week.

The ensuite was nice, just slightly tired, the shower fixtures just a little wobbly. Free toiletries which is always a bonus, and daily house keeping.

The free breakfast was ideal (continental) however the breakfast area did seem hard to heat.

The inn is literally meters from the centre of Chichester with everything in walking distance. There is no onsite parking, however there is a council car park a 2 minute walk away (£7.20 all day 8am till 8pm) which was easy to use (card and cash payments taken).

My sister is at uni in Chi, so I'll definitely be back and I'll look at booking the G&D Inn again.

It was a nice stay in a small but comfortable room. Bed was very comfortable and it had a leather sofa which added to the luxury feel. We stayed on a Monday night, so the pub was closed which was a pity. Wi-Fi worked ok. Only problem we had was that the toilet system seemed to be noisy. Didn’t notice this until we got back into the room at night, so wasn’t much we could do about it. Unfortunately had to leave sharpish in the morning for an appointment so couldn’t discuss this point with the staff. Nice breakfast though, continental style.

The out side area and the pub were all ok . The staff were ok - they did what they needed to , to letter nothing less or nothing more.
However, can truly say the room was shocking- it was like staying in a 1990’s student room. No headboards for the bed , the bedside table all had worn varnish pine , no black out blinds . The bed was very uncomfortable you could feel every spring .
The sheets were clean and the room was as clean as it could be .
The big down side was the sound proof. The people below us stayed up until 6 am talking constantly- all night . We could not wait for morning to come to get out as quickly as we could .
There was a free breakfast available. The breakfast didn’t start at eight we arrived at 7:50 and the staff told us we were too early. We said we had a terrible night sleep and we were desperate to leave we didn’t even wanna wait for breakfast and explain the situation and they said okay then. Just a little bit of feedback it would’ve been nice touch for them to have said actually I could open up breakfast a little bit early maybe give you a coffee or something as you’ve had such a night sleep. Sometimes it’s going above and beyond when someone’s had a terrible experience in your property rather than just shrugging it off. He was sitting outside waiting 8 am - so it appeared to me that it would not have put him out. I understand , I might not be fully aware of his circumstances but customer experience is important.
I would not return .

While the room block is very attractive inside its a different story. Tired old rooms with frankly shocking mattresses. Coil springs sticking into your back. This was room 8 and i now see this has been drawn to the attention of the staff for at least a year….but perhaps they don't care.the location is good and so this refusal to just get up to the standard of a Travelodge is odd.
nyway cant recommend and the Travelodge is much nicer and cheaper

Our room was pleasant bit small but was only using it to sleep in and fairly clean. However our friends room not so! It had mould on the walls, sink plug was full of black gunk and quite a bit of dust build up on the radiator! Staff was very friendly and very helpful

Ok but a few fundamental issues

WiFi - POOR,
Mattress - POOR,
Noise - POOR
Cleanliness - POOR,

I saw the mixed reviews, and thought it should be ok. The room was ok, but the main door and the door to the room all slammed shut each time someone used them. The tea cups were stained with old tea drips, and the cleanliness was just ok. WiFi was from the pub, and the rooms are in a separate building behind the pub. So it never worked, and nor did the phone signal, as the building are old stables with think walls. The mattress was “lumpy” and well used. I would suggest the owner or manager stay a few nights in the rooms, to experience what the guests experience.

We also asked for a 30 min extension to our check out time. That was refused.

Liked the location. Close to town centre, theatre and cathedral. Breakfast was basic but satisfactory. Shower didn’t work properly. Bathroom was not clean. Room was a bit cramped for space.
