The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly . This is a great location for walking around the town , shopping , it is close to the cathedral , there is parking a short distance at the end of the street . Public buses are frequent from Biarritz airport and terminate a few hundred metres from the hotel . Lots of restaurants . Really good visit .

Comfort only gets GREAT from me when we have a seating area with a couch or easy chairs. Though I must confess that we only paid for a regular double room and did not expect them. Still a nice surprise when it happens. Wonderful lobby; free snacks during the day; clerk upgraded us when we arrived early and our rooms weren't ready yet.

Extremely Happy!

The people who were at the reception desk, both during check in and check out, were fantastic! They helped to advise where to park our car, after letting us unload into the room, and recommended a few restaurants to eat at. The one we chose was Outstanding!

The room itself was very comfortable. We only stayed one day, as were were traveling from Bordeaux to San Sebastian, but it was a wonderful night, and fun experience.

Hotel was centrally located. Staff were helpful. TV did not work. View is either of the building or the noisy street below. Breakfast was OK-great croissants and OJ; fruit was either canned or over-ripe. Internet is not secure. Hard to regulate AC. I was unable to negotiate directly with hotel-could only go to Expedia or Cheap Tickets.

Central hotel, nice entrance, we were first given the keys to the wrong room - someone else's luggage was there, this room was light and airy. When we entered our room there was a total contrast, it was small, dark (black paintwork) with a very strange mix of furniture.
In contrast the bathroom was large and bright with new fittings.
The breakfast room was nicely decorated and whilst the breakfast choice was not vast, it was perfectly adequate.

we realize bayonne is an old town and carries that charm, however room could stand updating. separated bathroom is common in france, but having to go thru the room between toilet and bathroom was awkward. ample storage space and warm welcome and amenities like free wifi, local treats and complimentary water.

The room was nice with a super king size comfortable bed. Bathroom was spacious. The only thing I have problem with was : the weather was warm on the day I arrived, I would like to use the air condioner. However due to change of season, only heat is available. I have no choice but open the windows. It was very noisy, worst thing was there were mosquitos, I got more than 10 bites.
Hotel did provide air conditioner the next day, I closed the Windows thought all will be fine, didn't realize to looks foe mosquitos already inside the room. I was bitten again.

Lift initially out of action, so reaching the fourth floor involved wriggling past laundry skips and kitchen mops to use the service lift. But after a couple of days it was back in action - charming old wire cage affair with a bench.

Couldn't turn down the a/c, a bit stuffy, but opening the window easily fixed that.

But all round, very good value accommodation.

Fine hotel for a layover or a quick visit

The hotel is close to the centre of Bayonne and a ten minute walk to the train station. I was taxiing into Bayonne after a long flight and needed to catch a train the next day. The hotel was clean, secure abd the staff was helpful even with such a late check-in as our flight from London was delayed.

My wife and I stayed with our 2 daughters aged 10 +12 in July 2013, the room was good, it was very hot outside and the air con was more than up to the job , there is no parking outside the hotel but there is a car park at the end of the road,which , if you are out of before 8am there is no charge , we left at 10 am on our way to Paris and there was only a nominal charge(2-3 Euro).Breakfast, as with all French hotels is continental and is ok , but dont go there expecting anything fancy, its enough to get you going until lunch.staff were pleasant and spoke good english, overall a pleasing hotel that we would go back to and Bayonne is a really nice town.

nice hotel with good location for central Bayonne

In a central spot of Bayonne, this hotel has a convenient location. The room for 4 people was quite spacious and comfortable. In the middle of July we did not feel much heat, with the windows overlooking the street conveniently facing north. Also the aircon was quite efficient. Unfortunately there are no leisure facilities, but the drive to the nearest beach is not too long.

Another downside is that it is not easy to find parking in the immediate vicinity. Luckily the hotel provides (for Eur 14 per day) places in a near-by private muti-storey garage, which is within 5 min walk. Bizarrely, they do not give you an access card for that garage to keep with you during your stay, every time you need to pick it up and return at the reception. Hence you are forced to always plan around this arrangement.. But this is not a major let-down, overall the hotel provides decent quality of accommodation and rather friendly (in French terms) service..

A good choice if you can get a special rate.

Nice clean hotel in a good location. Room was a bit small and furnishings in the common areas were pretty random (cabinet with empty glass shelves, a single old chair that looked like it belongs in a dorm room sitting on a landing). Also, the sliding bathroom door that didn't shut all the way was another low point. But we got a great deal on the room at under $100/night so we were happy with it. I would never have paid the list price for the room.

A traditional hotel - in an excellent location. This is a traditional styled hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms are clean and tidy with sufficient facilities to ensure an enjoyable stay. Breakfast was very pleasant if somewhat chaotic. The food was fresh and tasty although not regularly replaced but there always sufficient food available. Our room had an interesting feature in that I walked up hill towards the outer wall in order to get into bed. The bed was large and comfortable. The location was fantastic. Within 1 minute we were in old Bayonne with it’s lovely shops and great eating locations including the crêperie by the Cathedral and the Belgian chippy. Very convenient for the bus and train if required. Will return.

Disappointed.

I had visited this hotel in June 2010 and returned in September. The second time I decided not to pay for an upgraded room and as a result was severely disappointed with the standard of the rooms I booked: 1 for me, 1 for my parents. My room was OK but its bathroom was appalling. No bath and a shower placed on a pedestal so high that is was very difficult to get in and out of. My parents room was little more than a shoe cupboard, unbelievably small, yet their bathroom was great if a little dated. The breakfast was good and the lady serving it very kind despite the fact she had a breakfast area full of people and a whole coach load from a coach tour to look after. The worst issue was the male receptionist who refused to look at us, was unresponsive to my questions (in French) about a luggage trolley and was generally rude. I tried to smile and be polite but its very difficult when someone is doing their level best to ignore you. When I return to Bayonne again I will make every effort to find a different hotel despite the fantastically convenient location of the Grand Hotel.

För det första en så vacker lite stad , mycket butiker , caféer , skinkor och choklad . Hade tur det var en stor kommunal parkering väldigt nära hotellet som var gratis på söndagar när vi var där , bra läge på hotellet ingen restaurang men det fanns bara några minuters promenad bort , mysig lobbybar för en sängfösare , mycket trevlig personal

C'est une belle bâtisse ancienne, avec un beau hall d'accueil et une belle salle de PdJ (même si pas pris le PdJ). Excellent accueil du personnel, sympathique et pro. Nous avions une grande chambre avec un très grand lit, mais on n'est pas dans les standards hôteliers attendus, que ce soit la salle de bains, les bruits de tuyauterie la nuit, le manque d'isolation sonore et l'impossibilité de faire le noir dans la chambre: en bref, un hôtel bien situé avec un bon. service, mais à rénover profondément.

Le prix monte pas la qualité

Le mercure de Bayonne a fait évoluer que la partie bar/salon. Le reste de l'hôtel fait vieux, la chambre à un style déco vraiment dépassée.
J'ai testé le mercure de Rennes qui lui est vraiment design.
La douche les joints sont à refaire, le pommeau de douche était dans un mauvais état et pas de brosse pour les toilettes.
La TV elle aussi fonctionnait très mal.
Le prix de la prestation est surestimée pour ce Mercure.

Attention aux chambres non rénovées.

Attention, mettent des photos de chambres renovees mais elles ne le sont pas toutes et celles qui ne le sont pas se sont arretees dans les annees 70 et sont vraiment datées. Si vous vous permettez de leur dire que c'est inadmissible on vous repondra qu il y a plus grave et que je savais ce que j’avais réservé ce qui est faux puisque sur le site hôtel.com les 6 photos présentes ne sont que celles de chambres rénovées. Je peux comprendre que l’on rénove petit à petit bien sûr mais dans ce cas là ne pas vendre sans le spécifier des chambres anciennes avec les photos des rénovées qui elles sont très bien en toute honnêteté.

Première proposition de chambre non rénovée avec mobilier ancien puis changement à notre demande pour chambre plus récente.
Parking en dehors de l’hôtel pour l’accès il ne faut pas un véhicule trop large car entrée étroite.
Petit déjeuner un peu cher à 17€ manque de variété (jambon de Bayonne par exemple) œuf…

Très bonnes prestations pour cet hôtel idéalement placé en hyper centre.
Accueil, taille de la chambre, propreté des sanitaires, petit dejeuner, services généraux, le tout dans un environnement très calme. Deux remarques toutefois, la presence d'un frigo dans la chambre, mais vide...et des toilettes séparées de la sdb auraient été appréciées pour un 4 *.
On recommande cet hôtel de qualité.

Un excellent séjour, on y dort bien. L’hôtel a vraiment du cachet (magnifique ascenceur) mais surtout les équipes sont adorables et m’ont trouvé une solution pour que mon bagage soit gardé dans un autre hôtel Accor pour que je n’ai pas à le garder sur mon dos toute la journée. Au passage pour l’équipe de l’Ibis Style près de la gare : merci merci d’avoir gardé mon sac, de m’avoir accueillie à 18h (couvre-feu) avant mon train de 19h !

Petit déjeuner un peu trop cher pour notre groupe, nous avons déjeuné dans les environs proches à 2 mn à pieds.
Pas de parking, très difficile de trouver une place dans les ruelles alentours quand le parking public d’à côté est complet.

ボルドーの中心街にありとても便利がよかつたです。部屋の広さもまあまあで、浴槽も付いていました。ホテルの料金からしてみるとコストパフォーマンスが高い感じがしました。

Séjour en Grand Hôte

Ancien GRAND HOTEL modernise ce Mercure en a le charme (chambre spacieuse, lumineuse, tendue de tissus, vastes placards) mais aussi l'inconvénient ( isolation acoustique déficiente entre les chambres superposées principalement par les salles de bain). Hôtel très bien situé pour visiter Bayonne. Petit déjeuner copieux, varié.
