The hotel is in a very convenient location, only a few minutes from the station, with a Lawson store right next to it and a supermarket nearby. The room is spotlessly clean and spacious. All the staff are nice and accommodating. They also provide a shuttle service to the station and to the Prince Ski Resort, which is very helpful.
Our only comment is that we wish they could improve their breakfast service with better food options and presentation. Overall, it’s good value for money. We had a great stay and will definitely stay again.

Hotel was very clean, 7 minute walk from Karuizawa train station and only 10 minute walk from the Prince outlet mall! Hotel also has a good modest breakfast selection too. A convenience store is also 1 min from the hotel entrance even though it closed at 11pm. Room was spacious and have everything we needed, thank you for the great stay!

Staff and very helpful. That have shuttle bus to take you down to ski centre and drive you back on scheduled time. Small breakfast variety but at least is complimentary. Super helpful before skiing. They also have free welcome drinks from 3-9pm daily. Small selection but good after a full day ski.

Our room was very nice and large. We really enjoyed the tatami portion of the room to rest and for our son to play. Staff were very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was great and had a variety of western and Japanese cuisine. Location was ok as it was not in the main road/shopping area. However, it is close enough to walk to karuizawa station where we can ride the train/taxi/bus.

The room size is ideal, but the rules of the hotel is ridiculous. Each room only have 1 key, and everytime you go out need to leave the key at the front desk. Even when I just go out to the car get stuff, the hotel staffs will ask you for the room key, I feel my privacy have been violated. And the hotel will lock the front door at 12am. If you want to go out have a smoke, you need ask the staffs open door. This make me feel the hotel is not secure. My whole stay feels wired and not comfortable. I travel to Japan twice every year, never have this experience. This should not happen in Japan.

Excellent hotel with very accommodating staff. Easy to find, right on the main road and right next to a Lawson’s convenience store. Newly renovated bathrooms are particularly good. The complimentary breakfast is ideal to start the day. All staff very friendly and helpful. This was our second stay here and hope to come again.

Staff were all lovely, and very willing to help. They understood English very well and we're able to communicate to a good standard. The hotel is a brief walk from the Karuizawa train station, so it is in a desirable location for weary travellers. The room and bedding are comfortable, and an average size. The only negative I have is the use of keys for your room door. An upgrade to key cards would be something to consider for the future, and may also stop the need for handing in your key each time you exit the building (which I'm guessing is because of the key cutting service close by?)

Not sure where the -ve reviews are coming from but we absolutely had a good stay here. It's not right next to the train station but close enough, 5 min walk. There is shuttle service provided to the train station (outlet) and the ski centre.
For those driving EV, there is charging available.

A disappointing stay.

Our stay was a huge disappointment. The only positive about the hotel is its location convenient to the Karuizawa Train Station. Many negatives: Uncomfortable beds - with our extra bed being just a thin mattress on a hard wood base; windows look out through metal shutters creating a prison-like atmosphere; room is cramped and bathroom is tiny; breakfast food is cheap and tasteless (instant miso; slightly stale croissants; tired sausages; no fresh fruit). Lighting was hard to operate. And, the staff were not helpful - to the point that we doubted we were in Japan.
We had left our bags for several hours after we checked out, and when we returned to pick them up, we could not easily locate our luggage number. Even though the staff knew us, and knew we had a train to catch soon, they kept us waiting until we could locate the number. Overall our worst experience with a hotel in Japan. We have stayed at hotels much less expensive with much better accommodations and service. We hope that in the future the staff will provide service more in line with Japanese culture.

Quite far from train station, about 15 mins walk. Quiet inconvenient location, no dining options except few options at station vicinity. But have 2 convenience stores nearby. Staff - not all of them friendly or warm. Room comfortable, spacious but sofa bed ( triple room booking) was terribly hard & uncomfortable- basically just a wooden frame with a thin tatami.

This the second time staying in this hotel as the environment is good. It is not too far from the train station and there is a family mart just beside the hotel.
There is even shuttle bus service from hotel to train station and ski resort.
The hotel staff are friendly, helpful and supportive.

A super comfy room a few minutes walk from the station with free basic breakfast. It’s about a 30 min walk to Ginza Dori. Only two small complaints would be; 1. so much light in the room of a night… between the LED lights on the air con unit, the humidifier machine and the smoke detectors it was a bit of a light show. 2. Advertised check in time is 3pm. I arrived at 2.40pm and they literally made me sit in the foyer to exactly 3pm on the dot even though I could see no evidence that rooms were still being cleaned.. Seemed they were making me wait to the absolute second for no reason other than because they could. After 6 hours of travelling I really didn’t appreciate the rigidity of their check in time.

Overall, the hotel is clean, quite spacious and quiet. Hotel staff are also very helpful when we need to ask them to keep our luggage when we checked out. I would recommend this hotel. The only setback is that it is not so near the Karuizawa station but still within walking distance of about 5 to10 mins.

It’s a cute boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood. It’s about 10-min walk from Karuizawa Station & about 20-min to the old Karuizawa Ginza street. Very easy to find, & a convenience shop is around the corner open till 11pm. A few small restaurants are nearby as well.

Lovely little property tucked off the main road. Clean, good front service, nice spacious room. My view faced out into the parking lot though so not much to see there. Unfortunately I didn't rent a car or bike and had to walk about 15 minutes to the nearest bus stop or train station. food options surrounding were limited.

Room layout was not functional: difficult to use room space even though the room was of decent size. Breakfast was very barebones. Coin-operated laundry was a big plus for us. Great location and service for English Speakers

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Rosso. It's a quick 7min walk from the station. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was fairly large, compared to other Japanese hotels. Everything was clean and fairly new. I got a few maps and recommendations on places to visit and to eat from the concierge. You can rent bicycles from the hotel for a small fee (first come first serve). The main shopping street is about a 15min bike ride from the hotel. The outlet mall is about a 5min ride (just south of the freeway). The hotel is also located behind a Lawsons which came in handy for late night snacks and drinks. The only downside was the breakfast. It's all you can eat but there isn't much of a variety (curry, salad, an egg, and bread). It's good if you're in a rush but there are plenty of cafes nearby if you want a more hardy breakfast.

Staff are exceptionally attentive. Bear in mind that this is hard to match since almost every Japanese hotel we’ve been too we’ve had very friendly staff. But this hotel’s staff came out to help us with our luggage. When I forgot to bring my keys out of the room, the staff also offered to take it from my room for me so I could go ahead with my dinner plans. Room is also beautifully decorated and just enough to be spacious for two of us. Breakfast offered was pumpkin and matcha bread, rice with beef curry stew and salad. Dutch coffee was flavourful. Conveniently located at Karuizawa station and within walking distance to the huge shopping mall where you can shop all day. Highly recommended!

Hotel Rosso Karuizawa is very new, very close to Family Mart & next to Lawson. Walking distance to East JR Karuizawa Station. The hotel also provide shuttle bus to JR Station as well as Ski resort.

Overall very new hotel, very clean hotel.

Pros: clean, well-maintained building and away from the main road (the hotel soundproof is quite poor so being away from the main road helped a little with the noise).
Cons: just a very basic hotel, nothing too bad about it except for the sound at night due to the poor soundproof walls/door. Breakfast provided wasn’t fantastic but since it’s free you can’t be fussy about it. I had it for once and end up have to go out to hunt for food again.

Within 10 minutes walk to Karuizawa JR Station. The area is a little quite but there is a Lawson store just outside of the hotel. The hotel itself has recently been renovated and very new. Recommend if you are planning to spend a night in this town.

Great value for the money - nice new hotel

This hotel is fairly new, so everything is in good conditions, furnitures, decorations, facilities, and so on. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great, at maximum 10 minutes of walk from the JR station for healthy adults with heavy luggages. The free breakfast was rather plain, breads, green salad, curry rice and very basic drinks. But at least you won't be hungry because it's buffet. The neighborhood is very quiet in the evening but there's a Lawson convenient store right beside the hotel. I'll definitely recommend this hotel for the great value of the money.

The male staff are all very friendly but the female staff in the front desk pulled a long face during check in and check out procedure. Just a few mins walk from the train station. Not too many convenient stores in Karuizawa, but there are two next to hotel Rosso! Really convenient! The breakfast tastes nice, but food options are very limited, they only have eggs, lettuce salad and bread. The check out time is 10:00, which is a bit too early. I wish the shuttle bus schedule could be more regular.
