The Angle has seen better days. It’s clear it was once a lovely hotel but it is now rather tired and needs refurbishing. We were upgraded to a suite and our room was spacious but the shower was cold. All the staff were very friendly, it has a nice bar and the breakfast was good and inexpensive compared to other hotels. The hotel is well situated being only a short walk to the shops and the rugby.

A warm and friendly welcome from the receptionist who also very kindly gave me a free upgrade! However the building is very dated and could do with a refurb. A word of warning that it is very loud outside throughout the night, appreciate that it’s also centrally located so that’s the trade off. Overall good stay for one night

If you appreciate the age and history of an old building you'll love it here. Our room was large, original windows and cornicing. Bathroom was a little dated but had a good shower. Good buffet breakfast in large ornate dining room, looking out onto Cardiff Castle. Reception and cleaning staff very friendly.

On arriving at the Angel Joey on reception made us feel very welcome, as he always does, and so our stay immediately got off to a very good start. He also arranged for us to have the room we requested. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are comfortable. It is in a good, central location with bars, restaurants and shops nearby. We will definitely be back soon.

The room has damp in it and i think needs updating with the wall paper coming away from the walls. Shame can’t open the windows! Mattress was very soft so was unable to get comfortable! Loved the view and f the castle. Breakfast was a little disappointing but eatable.

Recycling instructions in the room which was great from a sustainability perspective. My only criticism was that the room was far too hot. No way to adjust heating myself but windows opened easily. Not a problem for me as I am quite deaf but traffic noise from street would have been loud in the morning to a ‘normal’ person! Staff on reception said they would have sent someone to adjust heating but I didn’t think to ask.

We have stayed at the this hotel a number of times and enjoyed our stay and the food room quality. However, this time was disappointing.
On entering the room we were immediately hit with a smell of sewage, the bathroom door was closed which is odd as hotels leave them open.
On opening the door the smell of sewage was shocking.
There was a portable oil heater in the room which we found out later that night was because the room was ice cold at night.
The curtains were hanging off the runner and didn’t close properly.
The toilet didn’t flush and this probably was the reason for the stench of human poo In the room.
Very disappointed with the standard and quality of the room.
We love the hotel but for. £100 a night we won’t be looking to go there again
On entering the room we were immediately hit with a smell of sewage, the bathroom door was closed which is odd as hotels leave them open.
On opening the door the smell of sewage was shocking.
There was a portable oil heater in the room which we found out later that night was because the room was ice cold at night.
The curtains were hanging off the runner and didn’t close properly.
The toilet didn’t flush and this probably was the reason for the stench of human poo In the room.
Very disappointed with the standard and quality of the room.
We love the hotel but for. £100 a night we won’t be looking to go there again

The hotel has been knocked about - being next to the rugby stadium may contribute to high wear and tear - but everything in my room was clean and fine and comfortable. My only real complaint would be that the WiFi in the room was terrible and I had to go to the lobby to get work done. Great bath

This hotel has seen better days… the location is great but the rooms need a serious upgrade. The carpets desperately need to be replaced. The mattress was so used and worn that it almost folded like a taco when laying on it. Super noisy from people walking upstairs and slamming doors, and a cleaner vacuuming in the morning banged on the wall of my room a few times. There were mysterious drips and stains on the walls. Everything just felt really gross and grim and I’m glad I was only here for three nights as I didn’t sleep well at all. The staff were friendly though and the foyer is nice looking, I can tell it would’ve been a lovely hotel in its prime. Sad to see it has not been kept up very well.

Our first room was really dirty, deep ingrained dirt and a general lack of everyday cleaning too. Luckily the kind manager moved us to a better room that was much cleaner.

An overall excellent stay, this is why we keep coming back when we stay in Cardiff. The only adverse comment this time was the breakfast on the second day of our stay. We had to wait for some of the food items and the bacon was somewhat hard, very unusual for this quality hotel, especially on the day when dining room Wass fairly quiet.
