Both receptionist and dua in the bar were beyond helpful and lovely. It was great that they made such a fuss of my dogs.
The rooms are very clean but definitely need an update of furniture and decoration.
But I would still choose to stay at this friendly hotel

Superb location.
Really good customer service from the staff and a lovely bar and restaurant area.
Other part of the hotel could do with refreshing.
Our room was spacious with a view of the cathedral. Comfortable bed. The furniture in the room is showing it's age but this did not bother us as we were out and about most of the time.
I would definitely stay there again.

Not too much to comment on a single overnight stay, did not require breakfast. Knocked 1 star off service not because there was anything wrong but just seems odd to say it was excellent when my only interaction consisted if being issued with a key. Staff were polite and friendly for this short interaction

Lovely view, nice staff. Great central location.
Room was a bit tired, but spotlessly clean It was, sadly, very cold. Even with the heater on full blast it was chilly.

All was basically fine. There are a few things you need to be aware of: the WC handle in our room was loose and functioned poorly; the shower screen seal on the fixed pane seems non existent, flooding the floor when the shower is used, the WC was not really clean, superficially so but filthy on the left hand side, not readily seen when looking directly down at it. The room was clean and warm, the bed fantastic, very comfortable and spacious. We would have preferred to not have to go to reception for additional tea bags, only one each! Also, maybe I’m old fashioned, but not having the bed made when staying at a hotel does seem odd??

No heating on in room on arrival despite it being near zero temperatures.

No extra blanket in room - had to scrounge one from reception.

Woken up by fireworks at 4:20 in the morning (okay that probably not the hotel’s fault).

Definite case of needing a refurbishment, bed was very comfortable and clean, furniture needs renewal, bath/shower was clean but toilet not been cleaned in a long while, dirt very evident behind sink and pedestal, not what we expected to be evident after paying quite a lot. Hopefully by the time we revisit in 12 months, they will have carried out some refurbishment and deep cleaning

Room very noisy at night! There was a consistent humming noise in room which got worse then went away then started up again got worse then went away! Not sure if it was outside or in hotel.
Alley way a night that the room over looked had people shouting and being noisy!
Badly fitted duet quilt that in the end i took off bed and just had duet cover over us!,but couldn't believe the disgusting quilt underneath the cover! Looked as though it had been out on the street! Very discoloured and large stains! which we have photos of!

Hotel is in an amazing location. It had a lovely set up with attractive looking bar & lounge area. Breakfast was just right with good hot & cold choices. Room was lovely & comfortable with good views of the cathedral, only slight criticism was the bathroom was a bit tired, there’s lots of marks on the floor & the bath seemed heavily stained but it did still seem clean. All the staff we encountered were all friendly, approachable & professional. We would definitely stay here again.

Disappointed with the first room that we were allocated it was classed as a small double but could not even walk around the bed it was almost a single room
The bar staff were overworked and the room was tired
Considering the kind of hotel they rate themselves, I was disappointed to have to pay £5 to leave my luggage for a few hours after spending 2 nights
The only good points about the hotel is it’s in a good position if you are a tourist, we will be visiting Winchester again but will not be visiting this hotel again

Adequate room but tired furniture. No breakfast had so cannot comment on food.Did not have a car but found it very dark to walk at side of building.Biggest surprise was the £5.00 charge to keep luggage after you checked out!! This is why I will not stay again.Thank you

On arrival I was greeted courteously and directed to my room. Room was clean and comfortable but looking a bit dated as is the bathroom, All the lights in the bedroom were lamps which meant took a few minutes to go round and switch them in and off, no central light switch. In the cupboard I found a fan, heater, iron and ironing board, safe and hairdryer. I was on the 1st floor overlooking the cathedral, which is what I was hoping for. Restaurant/bar area was clean but needs some tlc. Bar staff were friendly and my dinner was very hot and tasty. Had an issue with my key which was sorted quickly. Did not have breakfast in the hotel so cannot comment on that, Receptionist on check out was quite abrupt and did not ask how my stay was or if everything was ok.

Poor rooms had to be moved a number of times incorrect room details said basic double. Bed was not a double but a small double not fit for two people. Window in room damaged and did not close so room moved next room duvet was a single on small double finally hotel agreed to put in double room this was ok still issues with duvet not fitting correctly but good enough.
Asked to add breakfast advised pay at breakfast room first day was ok slow service and lack of replacing food not very busy second morning asked to book breakfast again was charged extra for not pre booking again long wait for food to be refreshed when empty again not busy. Hotel extremely rundown needs refit bathroom dated and bath has lots of chips and marks show screen leeks so floods bathroom

Hotel was tired. Wall paper peeling over bar . Downstairs toilets terrible with mould and fungus growing. Room not clean .
Convenient location and pleasant staff.
Very over priced. Nearly £300 for one night without breakfast . Parking we were lucky as we arrived at 9.30 am , but only about 15 spaces.

But also I tried calling to find out if there was carparking and after selecting hotel reception I ended up talking to an offshore call centre that insisted they couldn't help unless I had my booking ref. I didn't have my ref to hand so they couldn't help!!!!!! All I wanted to know is if there was a car park!!!!!!

The room was fine with a nice view of the Cathedral but showed considerable signs of wear and tear. The bathroom had a cracked basin, a toilet that wouldn't flush properly and a bath that hadn't been cleaned. We advised reception about the bath when we arrived, they promised to sort it the next day, but it was still dirty 2 days later when we left.
Breakfast was fine (but definitely not free) and we enjoyed the location in the centre of Winchester.

The room was tired and dark (very dark furniture) If someone wanted to use a computer or prepare some paperwork, the lighting was not adequate One of the lamps was not working so we had to ask for someone to replace the light bulb The staff on Reception were great and very helpful The parking situation was awful - too few spaces!

Plus is location. Unfortunately they chose to do a construction project directly below our room in the evening while we were trying to sleep and the nose was bad. Our room refrigerator did not work and overall the room and general condition of hotel is a bit worn and tired.

The location is great but that was the only good thing.

First the property didn’t have a bartender.. okay so that was okay to just sit while our reservation was found.

Then we asked for our room to be. Learned of the MANY cobwebs in the corners of the room.. I had to storm down and demand it be taken care of immediately to get it done after 3 requests.

Then at 7 am we were woken by the construction noise on property.

The staff was nice but very young and inexperienced.

Last minute booking as we decided to stay overnight instead of heading home. Reception were a bit rude as we asked if the rooms would come down in price as it was gone 3pm, they suggested we sleep in the basement with the bikes. We booked through Expedia for a reduced price.
loud thumping music for a few hours which went on until very late.
Maybe a nightclub or venue nearby?
We will not use this hotel again.

Lady at reception was very friendly and super helpful. The hotel is dated and tired and needs some tlc. It certainly did the job for the night but for the price, it could be better. Bathroom had a broken tile and the room smelt of smoke when arrived. Bed was comfortable and the tea and coffee facility is a nice touch!

We stayed for 3 nights. Excellent staff and very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. The location is perfect, the view from our room was Winchester Cathedral. Parking is reasonably priced at the hotel but you need to get there early as the car park is not very large

I loved the view of the cathedral and the friendly service from the staff. As the hotel is undergoing a refurb in certain areas the dining facilities had to go to a suite. In the circumstances I thought a good service was maintained. Will give you another try if I come again
