We had a mixed experience at Chilworth Manor, but the staff really made the difference.
Initially, we were checked into a very small, basic room. The walls were in need of a fresh coat of paint and it felt quite tired. To make things difficult, we were placed right next to a couple with two dogs—which wasn’t ideal as we were staying with a baby.
Thankfully, the staff were lovely when we raised our concerns. They were very understanding and moved us to a larger room, which we really appreciated. It made the rest of our stay far more comfortable.
The hotel has a nice bar area with a good atmosphere. We also enjoyed using the pool; however, it’s worth noting that it seems to be run as a separate business rather than being exclusive to the hotel. It was quite busy during our visit because of children's swimming lessons taking up a lane alongside the regular swimmers, but it was still a nice facility to have access to.

The room itself was not well maintained, the sink was blocked and the toilet and bath were stained. The pool had children’s swimming lessons all morning, despite the room information saying children were only allowed in the pool between 4 and 6 pm.
There was a function on until midnight directly under our room which was very loud, and party goers sat outside our window drinking and smoking even after the event finished. When we rang the front desk about this after 11pm. They said they would help but it actually got louder!
When we complained in the morning the duty manager did not seem to be interested and said there was an event on.
Loud music and noise until 1:30am is not why we booked this hotel. We wanted to relax in a spa hotel!

Lovely hotel with friendly and welcoming staff.
The pool and jacuzzi etc were fabulous and the receptionist on duty during my visit was super lovely.
Amazing attention to detail in the room including a split bin to help recycle used packaging etc.
Could perhaps have used and extra cover for the bed but otherwise a great room, great stay and great staff.
The breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and great service.
All in all a wonderful stay and I shall definitely be a returning guest.

My room was lovely, the event was very nice and the food was lovely. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. My only concern was that on arrival when I gave my name, the lady on reception read out my room number when there were other guests arriving and within earshot. This is a security issue so I would ask you to remind your staff not to do this, please!

I am a friend of the team who organised the event and was disappointed to learn that they had to provide their own lighting as you do not set up the festoon lights until Christmas. They made the ambience of the room so I am astounded that you do not use them year round and think it was unfortunate that this could not be accommodated for a charity event.

Excellent value for money hotel. Clean, tidy. Needs a bit of decorating here and there.
We had a great breakfast and the dinner was lovely but felt it was a bit much asking for payment up front for the meal! (Yet you could pay for your drinks afterwards in the restaurant....???) Sounds like they dont trust anyone!
Other than that, it would be nice to offer different pillow options. One was insufficient, two was too much. I had a stiff neck the following morning..despite it being a very comfortable bed. All in all, I would use again...despite these small niggles!

Hotel description said there was a lift .But not in the part of the hotel we were in! We had a room on the second floor as far as possible away from the reception areas with several flights of stairs, Had we known this we would have asked for a lower floor or in the building with a lift. Or chosen an alternative hotel, They were fully booked so no chance of
changing to an alternative room. After our evening out we arrived back just before 11 and were told the bar was closed. This seems very unusual for a Saturday night and a hotel that has so many customers.
There were no biscuits or complimentary bottles of water in the room, something which you would expect for the amount charged for the one night.
The shower could certainly do with a deep clean and the sealant refreshed . Whilst showering the shower tray was full and we had to use our feet as plungers to get the water to runaway. If we hadn’t done this there would have been a serious leak
We also found it very difficult to find a parking space anywhere near the hotel and it was pouring with rain. We later discovered that the hotel is used by customer who are going on cruises and are leaving cars parked for weeks at a time. Making it difficult for non cruise customers to get anywhere near the main entrance.
The description says there is an indoor swimming pool, this is very misleading as it is not in the hotel itself but a few hundred yards away in a sports venue.
So overall we were very disappointed with our stay.

Have stayed many times as convenient for my office. Hotel is nice, nothing flashy, but beds comfy, rooms clean, breakfast nice and staff friendly.

Only area that needs improving is the evening food menu.

We really echo some other reviews in that the hotel bedrooms need a massive overhaul, out dated furniture, dull decor, dirty carpets, boiling hot (too hot to get a decent night sleep), mould on bathroom ceiling, we could add more but to be honest would just rather erase the experience!

Lovely hotel I would recommend but more suitable for personal/ couples stay not business trip, food was lovely. friendly atmosphere.
The only negative I would say is although I paid extra for an executive room - the room I was given was not up to that standard and was very basic and small compared to other hotels standards.

The grounds are very pretty the inside and rooms are a little tired, the breakfast was very good....however did not appreciate being woken at 6:40 am by the fire alarm and having to evacuate in my pj's....no apology received...i know these things happen and atleast it was a false alarm, but impaired our stay and sleep.

Lovely grounds ,and main lobby is charming..
The rooms could do with sprucing up , especially the bath tub and carpet .
Also we were advised water works going on at the hotel on Sunday after 0900 which would affect the amount of water in rooms .we didn't think much of it ,but the next day ,there was actually no water at all after 0900,not even to flush toilets which I don't think is right for hotel rooms.

Nice hotel but many problems in the room

The hotel is very nice, the room was big, and the bed was comfortable. However, the main shower head did not work properly (no hot water), there was no shower gel in the dispenser, and the TV had no signal (no channels available). When I tried to contact reception using the room telephone it was constantly engaged. When I went down to the reception, the receptionist was talking on the phone to her friend using the main hotel phone. To be fair to the other hotel staff, they did respond promptly, fixed the TV and refilled the shower gel. I would not stay there again or recommend.

Our stay was little more than ok!

The public areas within the hotel were clean and tidy, but out executive room was very small and tired, large crack and water damage to ceiling, worn furniture, mold around shower glass, poorly finished carpentry and towel rail ready to fall of the wall! Most of the staff were polite and helpful and facilities were good, such a pity about the state of what could have been a beautiful terraced garden.

The only negative, we returned back at the hotel around 11/12 pm.our key card didn’t work . Went to reception and there was nobody there . Spent 5 minutes working around calling out , eventually someone came to reception

Requested change of dates due to family circumstances, this was denied on Monday 28/9/25. Retuned to hotel on 29/9/25 until 1/8/25 to use the paid room
Meal in restaurant overpriced and lacked vegetables
Bar & lounge chairs uncomfortable and to low for the tables
Bar food good and reasonably priced
Disappointed to find the leisure facilities (swimming pool & gym) weren't on-site. They were in a leisure centre 5 minutes walk away

So disappointing, the room was dated with either flaking paint or mould on the outer wall. The food was vile, chicken Caesar salad with a pink boiled chicken breast drowned in dressing and at the nice price of £20, the staff totally disregarded my issues even when I left the food on the bowl. The receptionist when checking out asked me how my stay was and I replied with terrible replied with oh dear!! Give a wide berth

I was greeted warmly by a male receptionist. It was late as I had been to a concert at Romsey Abbey. Parking was difficult close to the hotel but found spaces in The Club area.
My room was ok but needed a bit of modernising. Bathroom was more modern but had shower curtain rather than a screen. I personally prefer a walk in shower to a shower over the bath.
The room was so hot. The window did open but still hot. A notice said keep bathroom door closed when using. I didn’t do that as I realised I couldn’t turn the door knob so if I had pushed the door closed I wouldn’t have been able to open it again!
Breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly.

Nice property but unfortunately the night we stayed there was a prom and we were put in a room opposite the dance room so not ideal with an early start the next day. Pool and steam room were ok and only stayed one night. Great Indian restaurant close by called Raja. Very good!

Very bad experience from the checkin to the missing room service, not able to fix the safe, did not reply to the request for breakfast and unwilling to assist with luggage to be carried to the second floor since the hotel don’t have a lift for their guests! No availability for a room upgrade! All in all it was our worst experience of booking and staying in a hotel.

A little dated....

Arrived late and received a small (i mean no room to put two suitcases down) twin bed not even a queen size so truly a small room. Had the amenities i imagine for a renovated or converted older build type hotel, no AC however and windows that didn't seem to want to open much....
requested room turn over each night and got 2 out of 4...the last day we asked for just towels and despite there being two of us got one set!
Got the romance package and told them we were arriving late (1030)...the ice had melted by the time we arrived! while good at the time, the then eaten chocolate strawberries that i requested (as a treat for my partner) stayed in the room for 2 days until i moved them outside the door where they stayed until the end of day 3...
yes these are all first world problems but make a difference to the overall impression and service ethos of a place...
staff were available, just not always effective, a pet friendly place, so lots of four legged greetings in the lobby
the hot breakfast was way over priced for the contents, but hey ho we tried...
In summary a lovely setting for one or maybe two nights...
Oh PS, we went to the pool / spa...pool not available due to pre planned kids lessons / other activities, spa, looked fantastic but we sat and waited to find out more and the place seemed way under staffed, so we moved on....

Booked to stay with my daughter and grand-daughter after visiting Peppa Pig World. Asked for a family room. Was given double room with a very poor fold up bed. Slats were broken, collapsed in night and the mattress was extremely thin. Didn't report it in the night as my grand-daughter was sleeping and we didn't want her disturbed. I reported in morning though. Family is not child-friendly. I had booked as they had a swimming pool - when booked in, told children not allowed in pool apart from few hours on a weekend so we couldn't use it, so disappointed. Breakfast however was very good.

It is a quaint hotel in lovely grounds. The bar and Central area was beautiful. The executive room (9) was cosy but adequate. The bed was comfy, the shower was good and the room was clean and tidy. The toilet was very low so not suitable for someone with mobility issues. There was also no lift so lugging a large suitcase up the stairs was fun! Breakfast was good. Staff were all excellent. Had a problem finding a car parking space near the entrance. It must be a parking hotel for the cruises so it was a little walk back to the car each day. Overall, a lovely stay.

We stayed here for one night prior to going on a cruise. Good location not far from the cruise terminal but in a quiet area with plenty of parking. Nice breakfast next morning. Only negatives are the early checkout time of 10am and the bar prices.

We stayed in the family room. This consisted of a small double bed and a Z bed which was extremely hard with not much space in the room. The hotel rooms cleanliness was a 3/10 - the room needed a good clean and hoover.
We had the breakfast 1 morning out of 3. For £13PP it is mediocure, they had run out of fruit the cooked breakfast is clearly sitting there for a while. Most dissoppointing was that the coffee and tea came from a machine.
The staff were all very friendly.
We had a child and I had not read the hotel facilities description. Children are not allowed to use the pool unless its a bank holiday or weekend ( with limited time slots ). This meant very little to entertain if you have children. Unfortunately we will not be returning. I would not advise families attend this hotel.

Take in the fresh country air at the Manor

A lovely hotel set with beautiful gardens. The room was comfortable and spacious with a lovely view of the garden. From reception, to the bar and the room service staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Pool facilities were also well maintained.
