Hotel is very nice, rooms lovely and seemed our room had recently been up dated as we could smell the new carpet. It's a shame that you are not very well advised in advance that there is a £5 per person charge for the spa facilities (pool). Will stay again if we are that way.

Unfortunately the hotel pumps in am air freshener that is overwhelming. There was no air-conditioning so even with a fan the room was very hot. The room had a frosted sky light over the bed do it was very bright early morning. There were only 4 channels on the TV and you had to pay £5 to use the pool.

Room was pretty clean but felt like I had walked into a time paradox as the room felt like it was from the 90's, bed skirt was damaged and the bath also heavily stained and damaged as well. Quiet location and slept pretty well but I always search for a hotel with a gym however expedia needs to start filtering hotels like this out as a basic room costing into 3 figures and then im being asked to pay to use the gym which is totally out of order in my opinion. The bar was obscenely expensive (£4.85 for a soft drink) and the bar tender dipping the glass into the ice as well a massive H&S issue so didnt bother with dinner and breakfast was also not included either. As a whole not the worst place ive been but unlikely to stop here again

Lots of parking. Large gym, pool was ok, each person had to pay £5 to use the gym/pool. The restaurant only had a buffet on but there are good pubs and restaurants which were a short drive away.

From start to finish the stay at this venue was one of the worst I've experienced.

We were staying as a wedding party and were told that we didn't need to book for dinner as there were ample people on hand to accommodate. Turned out there was 1 bar staff and one chef so they could only take 5 orders at a time and you then had to wait for another 15 minutes before the next 5 could order. In the end half our party left to go and get food elsewhere as after an hour and a half most still had not even ordered food.

The manager admitted this was still being used as an asylum hotel and they had skeleton staff.

We didn't book breakfast due to the extortionate price, however, we did go down and sit with the family. Breakfast should of been from 0630 - 1030 but didn't open until 0720 and shut just after 9 on both days due to staffing issues. Added to this, there were no bowls for cereal, the food was awful and to top things off one of the party found a metal screw in his beans!

I would recommend hotels.com remove this hotel from their site until it gets itself sorted as it is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in

The rooms are good and well equipped. However, breakfast was appalling with stressed staff who are slow and uncaring . Also, they kept voicing how stressed they were to the public!
The breakfast food kept running out and was not replenished. It was hopeless.
The swimming pool is nice, but cost an extra £5 per person to swim for an hour at a time.
All in all massively over priced for what it is.

The Bar staff are absolutely brilliant,but appear understaffed.There was a power cut,but no back up generator.No Bar Menu food was served one night,the excuse given was implausible.The Management need to up their game.The rooms are quiet and clean.The Meon and Valley golf courses were very good value,greens in excellent condition.The grass on the tees could do with a trim.

On arrival, hotel looks beautiful. Lots of free parking. Check in was easy. We booked a family room for 4 people.
The room itself, initially looked nice but on closer inspection wasn’t great; mould specs on curtains, carpet was full of stains, furniture old & worn, complementary gifts; basic & cheap, no reading light or air con (& it was a hot night) only a fan supplied which helped a little. No plugs next to bed & pillows were hard. Bedding clean (ish) & beds comfy (ish). A Wallpaper magazine, was out for show on the dresser dated Dec ‘24. It all looks good but finer details are overlooked & make it like feel budget hotel.
Overall the room could do with modernising & a good clean!

Breakfast was basic; condiments unbranded & a limited selection. Lots of overcooked English buffet food. Dining eating area was dirty; random chips on window sill, carpets need a good hoover. Staff not very welcoming or friendly.

The pool is sold as part of the hotel & your stay. This is very misleading. This is NOT included & is £5 pp each day to use. Facilities were nice & worth £5 but this should be included in the price if you staying at the hotel. I spoke to the receptionist who advised, this is a complaint they receive a lot.

Overall, looks great but really isn’t. I wouldn’t stay here again not would I recommend. It was okay, nothing more.

Room was £144 PLUS the additional £20 for swimming, total of £164.
I’ve stayed in much nicer places for much less.
Disappointing.

What once was a high quality establishment is now showing its age. The staff were good but the establishment is of dire need of an upgrade.

I don’t agree that guests have to pay to use the pool area. Seems like a bit of a con.

Beware of the rooms with no windows during hot weather as they become a furnace with only desk fans for cooling

Had promise driving up to the site. Had booked dinner to find restaurant closed and only buffet served. Fine as it was a hot day. Oh dear, oh dear. Couple of greasy pork chops and unidentified fish in warmers. No offer of a drink. Went to the bar to fill up on crisps. Perhaps breakfast would be better? Even worse. The few choices were let down by no crockery, having been used the night before and no washing up done. Three plates for at least 10 people waiting, no cups to use the machine, no glasses to get some orange juice out of the other machine, no bread. Management/Supervisors conspicuously absent. Poor younger members of staff left to deal with the resultant moaning. Potentially good hotel let down by those running it.

The room was nice and clean .The issues was the handle for flashing the toilet you had to do it several times for it to flash. The fridge was not working. The WiFi was poor . The swimming you had to pay £5 per person for one hour. In the breakfast area it not organised when it comes to food refilling.

Very pleased with this choice of hotel, that the staff seem to take great pride in and conduct themselves like they have shares in it. Evening meal was great quality. Fitness facilities require you to walk outside of the hotel, but are worth it. Location was perfect for me having to access a few different towns in the area, and remote with far-reaching views surrounding. My only complaint would have been that I had an accessible room (I may have booked in a hurry), and the furniture arrangement was accessibility-centred and slightly inconvenient. Overall, a great hotel and will definitely stay again when in the area for business.

Nice hotel. Lovely room. Shame about other guests shouting and using foul language outside our bedroom window before breakfast Which woke my 5 and 8 year old up. Then the police turned up. But the damage was done with the comments.

My daughter was a bit upset that a light was broken in the pool and looked like it had become loose and fallen on the pool floor.

I would use the hotel again for some golf. As never managed to use those facilities.

Staff came across very pleasant and polite, helpful. Etc. mainly dealt with the front desk and the lady in the golf shop. Both very helpful.

we didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as could not find a menu anywhere. Which we could not risk with two young kids, not knowing if they would like the food. We did ask but got told it was a buffet. A buffet of what we didn’t know.

Pleasant enough stay. Room was well sized worh a window that opened. Both bedroom and bathroom were clean. Car parking is free which is rare for hotels in the area. Its also in a rural area so quiet which was perfect.

Tea and coffe is a kettle, no coffee machine but this is stated on the he hotel details.

There's no daily room servicing so you have to ask if you need anything e.g toilet paper, tea/coffee, towels.

The gym facilities were good although you have to pay to use it.

A couple of tweaks and this could be a cracking hotel.

You’ll experience an awful lot of creaking floorboards in this hotel which isn’t a problem unless you’re room is directly beneath someone who moves around a lot. The room I stayed in also had a weird kind of old person smell that you really notice when you first enter your room but which, I suppose you just get used to when you’re in for the night. The spa facilities also close far too early and is the reason I couldn’t get to use it during my stay. Really friendly and helpful staff. In particular Mohi and Alex were both incredibly helpful and professional and are a credit to the hotel.

Pool was really warm - didn’t mind the charge of £5 per person per day - we were informed of this beforehand so no surprises there. Did not eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food

Before I arrived it was dirty all so the white people or racist they did com in the pool close to me an my wife cause we or black. All so they didn’t com in the jacuzzi. Until we was out completely. They look at you dirty. The room don’t have fridge. If your. Black avoided this place

Also we were awoken at before 5 to a funny whistling ringing noise - sounded like heating system.

Yes, I am an environmentalist and am happy for my bed linen on a short stay not to be unnecessarily changed but I felt as we were on a short break the pleasure in staying in a hotel is partly achieved by the room being refreshed ie: tea making facilities and the bed being made essential in a stay if this kind.
The staff I’m afraid were a little dismissive and appeared to avoid engaging with you at any point.
The lack of prior information regarding the swimming pool charges (which was a first for us) £5.00 per person my grandchildren included excessive. We booked as we do several times a year hotels with these spa facilities to be naturally included be a little grabbing. What were we paying for? Just a bed & breakfast as everything else or anything else was not included. The hotel was clean & the breakfast good but it was not the best experience we’ve had which is unfortunate.

No one at front Desk had to wait ages, room was so cold kids and I was freezing no heating:( went to front desk again no one there. Then was told no heating as it’s been switched off till mid October there was no heaters available was given 2 blankets to keep warm? Breakfast was not better was there at just before 9:30 lots of items was not there so had to ask few times and it was few customers doing the same. I heard the lady going crazy at staff in the back saying this not good and to keep an eye on food in the front. Had again to ask for glasses for juice which took ten mins when I had to remind them there was none. 10 they close they closed the front door my son who’s 12 went to toilet just about come back in and the lad shut the door on him which made him walk off had to tell them that was my son. Also while eating breakfast same lady was telling off the boy these tables have to be cleared before you going home as wanted leave before and was told off. We not been here for a bit but was happy with the hotel and service. We spent a lot of money had horrible nights sleep in a freezing room. I never stayed in hotel with out heating:(

The restaurant was closed, I had to eat at a buffet bar and the food was good but £30 per head when all i wanted was a sandwich and soup was a little pricey.

The hotel has become progressively worse since I’ve been using it the last two years. It has now got to a point where I will not be using it again. Restaurant closed and no one informed us, there was a buffet offered which was well overpriced and poor, to make it worse all the kitchen units and hot plates in the buffet room were thick with dust and debris on the top, which is why I never eat breakfast offered in that room, then and I asked how long the restaurant would be closed for, and the manager who usually operates the bar restaurant just walked off and said ‘I don’t know, don’t ask me’. The hotel is a long distance to anything else and it was very late in the evening, no one informed us of this. I was here on business too, so talking to a colleague, we had food delivered, then told we can’t eat in any open areas, either room or outside, so it ruined two nights of working dinners with my team. A new young team in the spa, that you have to pay for are more interested in their phones than taking your money and just sit behind a desk. The previous personnel only a couple of months ago were fantastic. The rooms are generally clean and stocked properly, keep temperature but now all the floor boards are starting to creek heavily and you can hear people all around and above. The management have let this place become a shadow of its previous self.

The accomodations was nice, the reception staff and porterage were VERY good.

It's a nice location and parking is easy, although the lane to the hotel is quite busy with golf traffic at times.

The bar and restaurant was fair at best, little choice for a hotel bar and many offerings that were listed on menu's for Gins and food menus not actually available.

If you're in a rush don't order food, if you're not desperate expect 40-50 minutes wait between tapping your card at the bar and picking up your eating irons...

Arrived on Sunday night to be told the restaurant was closed all week and it was a hot buffet, looked at menu and paid the £29.95. It was appalling, the staff seemed embarrassed one of them even referring to it as slops! No one available to refund, or on Monday before and after work. Breakfast buffet supremely mediocre and when asking for poached eggs I was told they didn’t do them.
You have to pay a nominal fee even as a resident to use the pool facilities and, I had regrettably booked for 2 nights, housekeeping don’t come mid stay which I have never experienced before.
The pressure on the shower was good though paint was flaking off the bath.
All in all a total refurb is needed here, and a total review of catering.
There is no indication on the website that the restaurant might be closed, it came across that this happens when there are too many guests.
To add insult to injury when I had my deliveroo arrive on Monday night and went to borrow some cutlery I was told I couldn’t unless I paid £5 and presented with a wooden alternative!!!!

Nearest sockets all 'special' (non UK standard).
Had to unplug TV and charge phone out of reach and use.
If UK sockets are disdained, USB ports near the bed would have been very useful.

Receptionist on booking in was fantastic, she had a huge queue due to lack of staff but dealt with the situation really well.
No food to order the bar staff advised just a buffet and take a look before you commit was their advise! We did and it was rubbish hardly anything there so we left.
The fantastic receptionist recommended the square in wickham and we had a great meal there.

Restaurant was closed although we were told is was open... Food was not worth the money.
Tried the buffet dinner the following night, again, was not worth the money.
Actually found a local cafe for breakfast having heard that the hotel was not worth the money.
The staff were lovely, not hyper efficient but pleasant.
Occupants in adjoining rooms were incredibly noisy, and later found local police were called.
Room was very plain.
No maid service following day...
Oh, and the whole pool thing?!?!
£5 to pay to use it in addition to our already over priced room fee really was NOT worth it and really was the last straw.

I hadn't stayed in aBritannia Hotel for quite a number of years because standards had slipped. This hotel really surprised me, it was of a high standard and immaculately presented. Helpful staff and the late check in was ideal as we arrive by cross channel ferry so we knew that we would be late checking in. Its a pity that we didn't have time to use the spa and golf course.

Only thing I would say is paying a lot of money to stay at the hotel and then you have to pay for the pool is a joke. The room did not get clean during the stay.

So excited to stay in this 4 star hotel for my holiday with my family. Room was good for a family of 4. That's where the pleasant experience ended. First day at breakfast which ended at 9am (Friday) we enter at 0830. Had to ask for the majority of the breakfast to be replenished. The waitress was surprised when I asked for bread for toast. It took 20 mins for all the breakfast to be replenished. Asked for brown sauce but Apparantly they had run out and the delivery hadn't come. We then went to look at the pool. Again reviews said it was free but was told each person had to pay £5 each time . Also if you left you had to pay another £5. So my son aged 6 had to pay the same as me. I discussed this with the receptionist who said the manager was ill and my observations not complaint's would be written down. The manager would be back Monday which I replied we will have left so my observations would fall on deaf ears. He agreed though that this was poor service and not the standard the hotel aspires to. In our 3 day stay we didn't see housekeeping once and on our 3rd day had to ask for fresh towels. When we checked out, the same receptionist said we were all payed up. He didn't ask about our stay or if I wanted to fill out the form. A real disappointment to our stay and I'm struggling to give the hotel a 3 star rating.

Where do I start. No bar meal available. When I complained, all I got was ‘I’m only an employee can’t do anything about it’…..
Booking said ‘ golf course room view’. View was other bedroom windows. Paid top price for room. £5 extra to use gym wow. No towel given when in gym. Dried myself with my shorts.
Will never use Expedia again. False advertising.
Shocking to be honest. Oh I forgot, hotel can’t do poached eggs in the morning. Really, it’s not hard!! Stayed in 100’s hotels, never had a ban on poached eggs. Staff badly trained. Not customer focused at all. Needs shutting down or converting to a illegal migrant hotel, make them suffer instead!
