Room was spacious, staff were very friendly and helpful. We managed to charge our car for free with the destination Tesla charger. Pool was really warm - didn’t mind the charge of £5 per person per day - we were informed of this beforehand so no surprises there. Did not eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food

I stay at this place for two night they didn’t clean my room
Before I arrived it was dirty all so the white people or racist they did com in the pool close to me an my wife cause we or black. All so they didn’t com in the jacuzzi. Until we was out completely. They look at you dirty. The room don’t have fridge. If your. Black avoided this place

Everything was just really average and sterile. Ok and just ok. Staff nice. Gym pretty well equipped for a hotel but you have to pay. I travel for work and always look for somewhere with a gym, sauna a plus, but again need to pay and closed early.

We stayed 3 nights. You had to pay extra for the leisure facilites which was no advertised. We had no housekeeping at all- not even a change of bins/top up of tea. The socket cover was hanging off and hair dryer was broken. Quick service at bar.

Plus things were out of action.
Also we were awoken at before 5 to a funny whistling ringing noise - sounded like heating system.

Small things like for a double bed spare pillows as one each.

Everything else was described and clean and ideal one night stay

Yes, I am an environmentalist and am happy for my bed linen on a short stay not to be unnecessarily changed but I felt as we were on a short break the pleasure in staying in a hotel is partly achieved by the room being refreshed ie: tea making facilities and the bed being made essential in a stay if this kind.
The staff I’m afraid were a little dismissive and appeared to avoid engaging with you at any point.
The lack of prior information regarding the swimming pool charges (which was a first for us) £5.00 per person my grandchildren included excessive. We booked as we do several times a year hotels with these spa facilities to be naturally included be a little grabbing. What were we paying for? Just a bed & breakfast as everything else or anything else was not included. The hotel was clean & the breakfast good but it was not the best experience we’ve had which is unfortunate.

No one at front Desk had to wait ages, room was so cold kids and I was freezing no heating:( went to front desk again no one there. Then was told no heating as it’s been switched off till mid October there was no heaters available was given 2 blankets to keep warm? Breakfast was not better was there at just before 9:30 lots of items was not there so had to ask few times and it was few customers doing the same. I heard the lady going crazy at staff in the back saying this not good and to keep an eye on food in the front. Had again to ask for glasses for juice which took ten mins when I had to remind them there was none. 10 they close they closed the front door my son who’s 12 went to toilet just about come back in and the lad shut the door on him which made him walk off had to tell them that was my son. Also while eating breakfast same lady was telling off the boy these tables have to be cleared before you going home as wanted leave before and was told off. We not been here for a bit but was happy with the hotel and service. We spent a lot of money had horrible nights sleep in a freezing room. I never stayed in hotel with out heating:(

The restaurant was closed, I had to eat at a buffet bar and the food was good but £30 per head when all i wanted was a sandwich and soup was a little pricey.

The hotel has become progressively worse since I’ve been using it the last two years. It has now got to a point where I will not be using it again. Restaurant closed and no one informed us, there was a buffet offered which was well overpriced and poor, to make it worse all the kitchen units and hot plates in the buffet room were thick with dust and debris on the top, which is why I never eat breakfast offered in that room, then and I asked how long the restaurant would be closed for, and the manager who usually operates the bar restaurant just walked off and said ‘I don’t know, don’t ask me’. The hotel is a long distance to anything else and it was very late in the evening, no one informed us of this. I was here on business too, so talking to a colleague, we had food delivered, then told we can’t eat in any open areas, either room or outside, so it ruined two nights of working dinners with my team. A new young team in the spa, that you have to pay for are more interested in their phones than taking your money and just sit behind a desk. The previous personnel only a couple of months ago were fantastic. The rooms are generally clean and stocked properly, keep temperature but now all the floor boards are starting to creek heavily and you can hear people all around and above. The management have let this place become a shadow of its previous self.

The accomodations was nice, the reception staff and porterage were VERY good.

It's a nice location and parking is easy, although the lane to the hotel is quite busy with golf traffic at times.

The bar and restaurant was fair at best, little choice for a hotel bar and many offerings that were listed on menu's for Gins and food menus not actually available.

If you're in a rush don't order food, if you're not desperate expect 40-50 minutes wait between tapping your card at the bar and picking up your eating irons...

Arrived on Sunday night to be told the restaurant was closed all week and it was a hot buffet, looked at menu and paid the £29.95. It was appalling, the staff seemed embarrassed one of them even referring to it as slops! No one available to refund, or on Monday before and after work. Breakfast buffet supremely mediocre and when asking for poached eggs I was told they didn’t do them.
You have to pay a nominal fee even as a resident to use the pool facilities and, I had regrettably booked for 2 nights, housekeeping don’t come mid stay which I have never experienced before.
The pressure on the shower was good though paint was flaking off the bath.
All in all a total refurb is needed here, and a total review of catering.
There is no indication on the website that the restaurant might be closed, it came across that this happens when there are too many guests.
To add insult to injury when I had my deliveroo arrive on Monday night and went to borrow some cutlery I was told I couldn’t unless I paid £5 and presented with a wooden alternative!!!!

Had to unplug TV and charge phone out of reach and use.
If UK sockets are disdained, USB ports near the bed would have been very useful.

Receptionist on booking in was fantastic, she had a huge queue due to lack of staff but dealt with the situation really well.
No food to order the bar staff advised just a buffet and take a look before you commit was their advise! We did and it was rubbish hardly anything there so we left.
The fantastic receptionist recommended the square in wickham and we had a great meal there.

Check In - staff were at idds woth what was inclided and not up to date on what was going on in the hotel.
Restaurant was closed although we were told is was open... Food was not worth the money.
Tried the buffet dinner the following night, again, was not worth the money.
Actually found a local cafe for breakfast having heard that the hotel was not worth the money.
The staff were lovely, not hyper efficient but pleasant.
Occupants in adjoining rooms were incredibly noisy, and later found local police were called.
Room was very plain.
No maid service following day...
Oh, and the whole pool thing?!?!
£5 to pay to use it in addition to our already over priced room fee really was NOT worth it and really was the last straw.

I hadn't stayed in aBritannia Hotel for quite a number of years because standards had slipped. This hotel really surprised me, it was of a high standard and immaculately presented. Helpful staff and the late check in was ideal as we arrive by cross channel ferry so we knew that we would be late checking in. Its a pity that we didn't have time to use the spa and golf course.

So excited to stay in this 4 star hotel for my holiday with my family. Room was good for a family of 4. That's where the pleasant experience ended. First day at breakfast which ended at 9am (Friday) we enter at 0830. Had to ask for the majority of the breakfast to be replenished. The waitress was surprised when I asked for bread for toast. It took 20 mins for all the breakfast to be replenished. Asked for brown sauce but Apparantly they had run out and the delivery hadn't come. We then went to look at the pool. Again reviews said it was free but was told each person had to pay £5 each time . Also if you left you had to pay another £5. So my son aged 6 had to pay the same as me. I discussed this with the receptionist who said the manager was ill and my observations not complaint's would be written down. The manager would be back Monday which I replied we will have left so my observations would fall on deaf ears. He agreed though that this was poor service and not the standard the hotel aspires to. In our 3 day stay we didn't see housekeeping once and on our 3rd day had to ask for fresh towels. When we checked out, the same receptionist said we were all payed up. He didn't ask about our stay or if I wanted to fill out the form. A real disappointment to our stay and I'm struggling to give the hotel a 3 star rating.

Where do I start. No bar meal available. When I complained, all I got was ‘I’m only an employee can’t do anything about it’…..
Booking said ‘ golf course room view’. View was other bedroom windows. Paid top price for room. £5 extra to use gym wow. No towel given when in gym. Dried myself with my shorts.
Will never use Expedia again. False advertising.
Shocking to be honest. Oh I forgot, hotel can’t do poached eggs in the morning. Really, it’s not hard!! Stayed in 100’s hotels, never had a ban on poached eggs. Staff badly trained. Not customer focused at all. Needs shutting down or converting to a illegal migrant hotel, make them suffer instead!

The staff are really friendly. The rooms are nice and the surroundings very nice.

There is a bar and restaurant. We sat out drinking beer on the patio, we used the golf driving range for a small fee.

There is a swimming pool and gym on site. We didnt uae these, there is a £5 fee per use of these facilities.

Regrettably, I can say without hesitation that this was the worst hotel experience I have encountered in my 45 years of travel. The stay was marred by unprofessional service, poor maintenance, and a complete disregard for basic customer care. I was shocked by the substandard conditions and appalled by the overall management of the property.

Summary of Key Issues:
1. Facilities & Room Condition
No power sockets by the bedside—highly inconvenient and far below modern hospitality standards.

No air-conditioning or ventilation system; windows restricted to 2–3 inches of opening, making the room hot and uncomfortable in warm weather.

Rust in the bathtub and cobwebs on the windows—clear signs of poor upkeep and lack of cleanliness.

Vending machines accepted cash only—a surprising and outdated limitation.

2. Staffing & Guest Service
Only one receptionist handling check-ins for a 113-room hotel during peak season—resulting in long queues and unnecessary delays.

The hotel appeared chronically understaffed. Employees were visibly stressed and overwhelmed, which affected both service quality and guest experience.

A £5 daily fee to access gym facilities, which should be included in the room rate, especially at a hotel claiming a four-star rating.

No room service offered unless staying more than 5 nights—a bizarre and unacceptable policy that contradicts industry norms.

An awful hotel experiencem the place should be closed down.

The hotel staff were generally lovely. Particularly the older gentleman in the bar area.
The gardens around the hotel had not been mown for sometime and the courtyard that our room overlooked had received no maintenance for some time.
The rooms were generally clean but our bin was not emptied for the 3 nights we stayed. In the corridoor to our room, someone had put used bowls with left over food out the first night we stayed and these were not collected by the time we left. The stairwell had not been cleaned or vacuumed for some time with used glasses present and spilt sticky liquid staining the nosings of most of the steps.
The volume of guests staying seemed to be a surprise to the catering staff, at breakfast time left many waiting for food to come out, and others waiting for a table. There were many options on the bar menu out of surply by the Sunday evening.
Finally given this is was not a cheap hotel to stay at, I was really disappointed to have to pay an extra £5 per person per visit to use the pool facilities. I have never stayed at a hotel where guests had to pay extra for this. Surly it should be included as part of your room booking!?

Absolutely mind blowing that a hotel in 2025 has no AIRCON, No WATER, No Windows that open more than 5cm. With almost £200 a night.

We even called reception and room service with no answer.

A lovely relaxing evening in the spa. Just what we needed to unwind from a stressful week at work. The hotel room was lovely and clean, with a comfortable bed. Grubby, poor staff attitude, look at alternatives

Hotel looked really tired, we had a drink in the bar area and it was very disorganised, empty bottles and glasses on every table, cigarette butts all over the floor outside. Our room was big however we had to go back to reception to get a TV remote. In the bathroom we had a shower curtain, which made me feel I was in a cheap hotel. The member of bar staff acted and sounded like he just didn’t want to be there which put us in a bit of a somber mood, the only evening meal available was a buffet at c£30 per head for and adult and c£20 for an under 18, we overheard a member of staff saying they had a buffet that night as it was left overs from a wedding!! Thankfully it was only one night we had to endure however, I feel a bit miffed that I have used my One key cash points on this hotel but grateful it wasn’t our own money, we definitely won’t recommend this hotel or be staying here again!

I checked in and the gentleman checking me in took 2 phone calls during the process, I then asked if my room included breakfast as he made an outgoing call. My question wasn’t answered and I was just handed my room key.

I then asked again if I had breakfast and also in addition to this what my room number was and also in which direction I should go to get in to the room.

After playing a round of golf I went back to my room and the key didn’t work, once I got to reception I found out that they shad changed my lock after I checked in and I should have been told.

When we went to go for dinner, I then found that the bar / restaurant menu was closed and it was a buffet service only due to coach trips that they had and it would be £35!

Next day, room key did not work, same man on the desk and he once again took 2 phone calls as he was dealing with this issue to just hand a new card over.

I’m not one to complain but I was furious and mentioned it on checkout only to find out that the man who checked me in is a manager.

Absolutely shocking and I have emailed separately.

This hotel could be amazing, the surrounding area and location is great, however, the hotel is tired, very outdated, extra charge applies per person (inc children) to use an equally tired and outdated swimming pool / sauna / steam rooms. The entertainment / facilities are terrible, a pool table a dart board anything would be nice, comfy seating in the bar instead of hostile staff and critical lighting. Could be a real gem but sadly woeful and very much lacking. There are EV (Tesla) chargers, only one was working but only on our second night stay, no one seemed to have a clue who within the hotel looked after this facility, front of house were pretty much useless on the topic, the golf shop were far more helpful but honestly, being told there was no such thing as a facilities team or some such to assist was just beyond the joke. The room itself, again outdated, tired, worn, dusty, mucky, let’s say being greeted with white stains on the headboard was not too great. I can’t stress enough how this place with a solid refurb and good leadership could be great.
