Good location for pre-cruise stay. Excellent views over golf course or cricket ground. Expensive bar prices as you would expect. Food in Beefy's ok. Room large and spotless.
What really let it down was the chaos at breakfast. Large queues waiting for tables whilst there were many tables in the restaurant which needed clearing etc. Not as efficient as it could have been.

This is a very lovely hotel, set in beautiful surroundings. We were ecstatic that the room was ready several hours before the standard check-in and we were allowed to go straight to it. The room was large, very clean and the views were soothing.
The surrounding areas were walkable with several convenient shops and restaurants nearby. the only drawback: the room service food was bland and expensive

We recently stayed at this hotel after breaking down on our journey. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make our first night and phoned the hotel to explain the situation. The woman we spoke to didn’t seem very interested or concerned, and we were disappointed that nobody even asked if we were okay given the circumstances.

When we finally arrived the following evening around 5:30pm, the staff there were friendly and welcoming, and the stay itself was pleasant. However, the lack of empathy and customer care during our initial phone call left a negative first impression.

Overall, the hotel itself was fine, but better communication and understanding in situations like this would really improve the customer experience.

Lovely hotel, staff are very helpful. The hotel has found extra ways to charge the customer, for example parking now has a fee and this doesn’t even reserve a parking space, sometimes it’s full due to events or golf, being a guest doesn’t give you access to the spa, i booked a treatment with the spa and this treatment was around 80 mins, that should tell you how much it cost, and even that didnt give me access to the rest of the spa just the treatment room, though the treatment itself was amazing. I found the whole experience bizarre as I have never been to a four star hotel and was charged extra for literally everything apart from the room, wouldnt it make sense to make everything inclusive even if that means paying that bit extra?. Anyway that’s my take on the whole experience.

One very minor issue would be about the parking, if you arrive in the afternoon very limited parking due to the golfers and when you have to lug suitcases between cars to reception it’s a little off putting. Be good if they could limit the golfers parking so that space for hotel guests was more available at least from check in time until early evening

Check in was a bit of a pain - first room wasn't a balcony room which we booked (not a big deal but really wanted a balcony so requested to change). Second room (with a balcony) we arrived and the room wasn't ready - room service, towels and bedding from the previous guests were still there. Third room was exactly as booked - really nice and a lovely room, but a shame it took three attempts.

Large room needed two comfortable chairs but had poor desk chair and uncomfortable low armchair. Shower had no appropriately located hand rail so I could not use it. Food in the restaurant should be avoided: presentation over-rides quality and much is inedible. Breakfast provides enormous choice, quality is mediocre and wastage must be horrific

The food was great with good service. The hotel was clean and the room o erlooking the pitch,which was great. However, the room was freezing ,the heating/AC was not blowing hot air,the bed was rock hard and the duvet was about 2 tog (at a guess) My wife wrapped herself up like an Egyptian mummy whilst I just led there awaiting for hypothermia to set in.Apart from that,all good!

Check in at this hotel was straightforward. The room was comfortable, although the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The view over the cricket pitch was excellent. As a group of 8, which included 2 children, we had booked a table in the restaurant. This is where the stay went downhill. Our booking was for 5pm and the restaurant was relatively quiet at that this time. The service left a lot to be desired, with staff who were lacking in any personality and totally disinterested in the people they were serving. The main meals were good but we waited for a long time to be offered anything else. Eventually, we asked for the dessert menu as it was obvious no one intended to ask if we wanted this. We had given the staff a birthday cake and candle for a 4 year old in our party and, when the desserts were brought to our table, the cake was also just put down on the table. There was no candle and no attempt to make this special for our little man. The desserts were unsatisfactory, with stale crackers on the cheese board, an upside down ice cream cone with mini marshmallows described as a S’mores dessert and a crumble that was nothing special. At no point throughout the meal did anyone check in with us. A service charge was added to the bill and, although we paid this, we did not think that the service warranted this charge.
A very disappointing experience that did not stand up to the Hilton name.

Our ‘deluxe’ room was tired and scruffy lacking basics like a mirror over the dressing table, only one chair, no toilet brush, rotten bathroom doorframe, no fridge, hard mattress and no bath. Access to the spa was extortionately priced and the opening hours limited. With the exception of reception staff on morning of our departure and a helpful barman, the staff were sullen and disinterested. Our little grandson’s birthday cake was plonked on the table in front of him without the candles and sparklers we provided and no knife, plates or serviettes. My starter and main course were good but took a long time to be served. My cheese and biscuits were awful. Biscuits were stale and the cheese tasteless and grapes which were shrivelled. Breakfast was good, lots of variety. The view from our room was also lovely. Parking was difficult as we had to park at some way back in the car park which was heavily flooded in at least two parts. All in all, a disappointing stay for the amount of money we spent as a family.

Hotel room was ok but it seems Hilton have cutback on a lot of things . A massive king bed with just one pillow each . One bath towel for two people and no biscuits on coffee tray . The service in the restaurant was terrible we were seated at the table given a menu asked if we wanted water to which we said yes , glasses were out on table but no water we had to ask 5 times for a jug of water . No one came to take our food order we had to ask if we could order our food . The food took a ridiculous amount of time to come out . The food was lovely but by this time it was so late we didn’t enjoy it as much as we would have .

Only negative bit of feedback is they charge for bottled water in the rooms (unless you are a silver member or above) and there is no hydration station in the gym, so no access to water, which I was shocked at. I’ve never used a gym where there is no water station before.

I leave this review after discussing with Hilton, they are happy I post this. Please ignore any pictures of the spa in this hotels ad. It is nothing to do with the hotel and comes at significant extra cost. Hilton will be quick to tell you on arrival this is clearly stated in their small print. 2 people using the spar is an additional £75 - £90 each time (so if you want to use the spa on day of arrival and day of departure you can double this!)

One thing they need to improve is ensuring the amenities in the room are refilled. We had to case coffee and milk several times and no one answered phone to help. Small thing but it should be a standard. House keeping need to double check provisions better.

Do not stay here. There are so many better options. One staff member was great, but another was impolite, rude and not in the least bit helpful.
The Expedia advert is misleading, suggesting that the swimming facilities are available with the basic booking.
Parking fees are excessive and the car park was chaos.
We arrived at the venue and got ready to go to the gym only to find it was closed for refurbishment; we had not been notified. We found a much nicer hotel nearby, the Hilton does not offer value for money, good customer service or a relaxing environment.
We checked out after checking in and are pursuing a full refund through Expedia.
The Hilton have contunued to take payments from our credit card. The Hiton are refusing a refund even though we have written confiramtion of the offer of a refund as an email written by the duty manager.

All was well until we were woken for a fire alarm. Being elderly it was quiet a struggle getting down all the stairs on hotel plus stairs to meeting point in car park. I think it would be a kind gesture for the hotel to offer a free breakfast the next day we really had a job getting back to sleep and it seems it was a false alarm. I’m sure the hotel which had hundred of guests in the car park at 11.30 at night could have done more than an apology popped through the door the following morning. Kind regards Margaret Hasted.
