We stayed here for the 1 night and arrived very late, check in was easy.
For the price, it was what you expected.
Decent size room but bathroom needs some work. Location was a bit sketchy however walkong distance to all main attractions.

Title: Serious Safety Hazard — Avoid Until Fixed!

I stayed here and discovered there were no clear fire exits, blocked emergency stairs full of building materials, and no evacuation plan in the room. When the power went out, we were trapped with no clear escape route and no help from staff.

This hotel is a fire hazard and unsafe. I reported it to the local fire brigade and the city. Until they fix these basic safety violations, I strongly recommend you stay elsewhere for your own safety.

Ho soggiornato in questo hotel e ho scoperto che non ci sono uscite di emergenza ben segnalate, le scale antincendio erano ostruite da materiali da costruzione e nella camera non c’era alcun piano di evacuazione. Quando è mancata la corrente, siamo rimasti bloccati senza una via di fuga chiara e senza assistenza adeguata dal personale.

Questo hotel è un pericolo per la sicurezza. Ho segnalato tutto ai Vigili del Fuoco e al Comune. Finché non saranno risolte queste gravi violazioni di sicurezza, consiglio vivamente di scegliere un’altra struttura per la propria sicurezza.

Superb location for sightseeing a few minutes walk from Via Etna, actually street was a bit scruffy, though that’s a thing in Catania.

The breakfast was really good with a nice selection and lovely lady doing the coffee and replenishing supplies.

The roof terrace was gorgeous at sunset.

But our room was run down and the bathroom was mouldy and the bsthroom floor was constantly drenched, even when we arrived and hadn’t touched a tap.

The best place to stay in Catania

I can't say enough about this place. It is so well located that we were able to walk to everything.
It is located in what was once a palace and the decor reflects that.
The staff at the front desk, especially Gessica, were amazing. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.
The breakfast had quite a good assortment of foods. In particular the cakes and tortes, handmade by Stefania, were truly delicious and special.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Catania.

Dirty hotel in a horrible neighbourhood.
There was no electricity so the lift didn’t work! Reception is on the 4th floor. No way was I going to risk my life lugging heavy suitcases up 4 floors in the dark.
We cancelled booking and will get a refund via my card issuer. Do not stay here ever,

Once we returned our car, the Manganelli Palace was within an easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see. It also has a number of very good reasonably priced restaurants and bars within a block of the hotel. There is a good view of Mt. Etna from the terrace where you can eat the good breakfast they provide.

Cons: Parking was full when we checked in. Elevator is tiny (entire hotel is on 4th floor of building and guests are buzzed into street entrance by intercom). Shower is a stall that tends to flood the bathroom. No English-language channels on TV. Pros: clean, comfortable, excellent location, lovely breakfast with great view, staff is accommodating and English-speaking.

Fourth floor hotel and lift out of order!

Overall we were reasonably satisfied with this hotel, but they should have warned us in advance that the lift was being replaced - if we'd been infirm or disabled, it would have been impossible to stay here. As it was, four large flights of stairs were hard work.
The room was clean, but carpets in the corridors were grubby.
The booking led us to believe that we'd have to queen size beds, but it turned out to be a twin room.
The breakfast roof terrace made up for some of the negative points and for Italy, the breakfast buffet had a reasonable selection.

Hotel was fine, shower did leak water onto the floor because of a faulty shower design. Staff was very courteous and quite helpful. Pictures of hotel were deceiving on-line, because it is not in the greatest of neighborhoods, but we did feel safe. Breakfasts were good on the rooftop with excellent views. Perfect stay

I loved it. Old style elevator and some of the larger rooms that I saw in passing had a romantic old world charm. My room was just what I wanted, a firm large bed, a balcony and an adequate bathroom. Right by an assortment of restaurants, gorgeous piazzas. Great price, nice breakfast and very good wi-fi.

Awesome location and great service!

This hotel has possibly the best location in Catania! It is literally a 2 minute walk from the Duomo and main tourist parts of Catania with many restaurants and shopping nearby.

We booked this hotel in the morning while in Catania at a very good price and we arrived at the hotel at 10am. Although check in was not supposed to be until 2 pm - the hotel let us into our room right away! The man at the front desk was very kind and helpful. He also helped us book an incredible tour of Mount Etna.

The room itself was very spacious (for Italy) and we had a massive King bed. The bathroom was massive and in excellent condition.

Breakfast is average.

The hotel building is old but the hotel rooms are in good condition and was a perfect little stay for us for 2 nights.

Ideal location for city break to Catania. Lovely room unfortunately moved to a room that was not so good for the last night of stay (toilet difficult/impossible to flush, broken shelf in bathroom etc). Staff very helpful, hotel reception on fourth floor. Lift only suitable for 2 people and would be very difficult for anyone in a wheel chair. breakfast can only be described as adequate but there is a lovely roof top terrace to sit out on to eat it.

Bizarre Stay

A bizarre little hotel on the third and fourth floors of an office building undergoing rehab. Strange layout. Staff gave me wrong info to go to Veduvious and I missed it as I was there only two days. The breakfast was so so and the bar man seemed annoyed that I drank more than one cappuccino at breakfast. You have to take two different elevators to get to your room, which was very much in need of redecoration and updating. The bathroom was marble and nice but there is no lower lip on the shower so there is.a flood in the bathroom when you use the shower. The neighborhood is iffy and a bit rough in the immediate area at night though on the other side toward the water it is nicer right away.

Hidden away. You need to find the bell beside the street door & ring to be admitted & go up 4 floors in the elevator. (Luckily, there was another guest at the door when I arrived. Otherwise, I might have had problems finding the place.)

The hotel staff was very nice and helped a lot. The only minus I can mention is the shower. It works fine, but the shower cabin is not closed and all floor is covered by water. I was wiping the floor after each shower :(
The rest was nice: location is good, the hotel has the parking (believe me it is very important in Catania), the breakfast is decent, the staff is helpful.

A hidden gem.

A hidden gem that exceeds it's exterior appearance.The Manganelli Palace lies hidden off the via Etnea on one side of an old piazza.Once you've ascended to the 2nd floor via the rickety lift you're greeted by friendly reception staff.The rooms are spacious, clean and modern with fantastic frescoes on the ceiling.The buffet breakfast is adequate and staff are friendly and knowledgable.One criticism it could be better signposted.

Highly recommend.

Great hotel in the heart of the city. Everything is walking distance. There are two parts to the hotel, a newly renovated section that's awkward to get to, and an older section. Either way you can take the little two person lift, or power up the stairs. Loved this hotel. Wonderful staff, great morning coffee, and the converted palace was a treat.

Comfortable hotel, location not ideal

We arrived after dark and was a bit sketchy in the area. There is no parking (despite being listed as available) and thus the drop off of wife, kids and bags was stressful.

Nevertheless, the staff were reasonably friendly and the room comfortable enough. The room was a bit noisy despite having the doors and shutters closed.

Breakfast was adequate and typical for Italy. By day the area was much better, just a short stroll to the Via Etnea and the Piazza de Duomo.

A very convenient location

Manganelli Palace is very conveniently situated for the main sights of Catania, with a good choice of restaurants nearby and a convenient supermarket. Our room was a comfortable size with a small balcony overlooking an inner courtyard. It needed some TLC. When we arrived there were only two hangers in the closet and scuff marks on much of the furniture. The shower head refused to stay in any position but the lowest and hot water wasn’t always guaranteed. Staff were courteous enough but not overly helpful. There was no initial guide to the attractions or services of the area. Responses to requests for information on the Circumetnea railway or bus to the airport were vague and as it turned out, inaccurate. However, the lady presiding over breakfast was a delight and breakfast itself very satisfying without being spectacular – good coffee, pastries, fruit and buns.
We never did quite figure out how the front door worked – probably monitored by camera from the desk, we supposed. Sometimes it opened quickly, other times you had to call up. There are 82 steps up to the hotel so the elevator is essential and is the standard, rather cramped, Italian design.
We loved Catania and will definitely return, at which point we wouldn’t rule out Manganelli Palace but would hope it has addressed some of its rough edges.

Our spacious room was quite comfortable. It had a lovely painted ceiling. Because the room was on the third floor, our view was limited to the tile roof of an adjacent building. The person at the reception desk was very helpful in arranging for an early morning taxi to the airport.

What Can I Say!

The Hotel Manganelli Palace: There were six of us, so we needed two triple rooms. The rooms were gorgeous and comfortable. The hotel is minutes on foot to Via Etnea, stores, restaurants, the Duomo, etc., and fifteen-minute walk to the train station and bus terminal. We were a little concerned when we first arrived, as the immediate area doesn't necessarily suggest \"Palace,\" but the rooms and staff won us over. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and extremely helpful. We would definitely stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. It's a great value and a wonderful place to return to after a day of exploring Catania.

Le gros point positif c'est la situation. L'hôtel se trouve dans le centre historique. Tout se fait à pied. De plus il y a une belle terrasse d'où l'on prend le petit déjeuner qui est bien. Autre point non négligeable, le parking situé dans la cour intérieure de l'hôtel. Par contre la propreté n'est pas au rendez-vous. Des papiers qui traînent des clients d'avant dans la salle de bain. Les joints de la baignoire qui sont noirs. Ça ne donne pas envie. De plus l'insonorisation est inexistante. De 6h30 du matin, on a été réveillé par le déplacement de meubles. Certainement l'installation de la salle de service du petit déjeuner. Ça a duré tellement longtemps que ce ne peut pas venir d'une autre chambre. Quand on arrive devant la porte d'entrée de l'hôtel, on ne reconnaît pas du tout la photo vue sur le site de réservation. C'est tellement laid qu'on est surpris.

Frukosten var okej, gott kaffe, men väldigt trångt vid dåligt väder.

Vi hade betalat för ett rum för tre personer, men vi fick bara sängkläder för dubbelsängen, inte för bäddsoffan, när jag efterfrågade det så ingick inte det utan alla tre skulle sova i dubbelsängen. Camera molto bella, ma estremamente rumorosa di notte (era sabato sera). Parcheggio presente, ma non disponibile per noi il giorno in cui siamo arrivati. Posizione ottima per visitare catania. Nel complesso, albergo senza infamia e senza lode.

El personal fue grandioso.
Solo tuve un problema y fue que me robaron las luces traseras y la rueda de auxilio del carro rentado. Cuidado con dejar el auto en la calle. No es seguro. Preguntar por el larking del hotel.

Virkelig godt.

Superfint ophold. Meget venlige mennesker. Man kan tydeligt mærke de ønsker at give deres gæster en god oplevelse.
Værelset var godt og hyggeligt. Selvom hotellet ligger i byen, er der ingen larm fra byen. Morgenmaden var også god. Jeg vil give mine varmeste anbefalinger til dette sted.

Very central. Nice and clean inside (do not judge the first glance outside!) Great staff (e.g. Massimo on reception was so professional, friendly, helpful, breakfast service on saturday, July 23rd. She was so friendly, fast, professional, baked great fresh stuff). Beautiful breakfast on top balcony.
Rooms were ok. One of the them next to reception a little loud sometimes as -e.g. - next door neighbours got home at two a.m. in the morning and took shower till 3 a.m..
Hotel is environmental friendly. Separates garbage, user renewable energy, not much plastic. Hotel is most recommandable. We will be back!
