Our stay was great - the location of this hotel is perfect, the staff was friendly and our room was really nice. Every morning, there was a fully stocked pantry with snacks and drinks for guests on each floor. We had a great stay and would recommend this place highly!

Cons:
-At arrival, drove to valet, my daughter and I had to manage 2 large suitcases out of the car ourselves, the valet just standing there, no offer to help,
-1 slow elevator for whole hotel. We ended up taking 3 flights of stairs anytime we went in and out because the wait was so long
-very small showers
-over priced!

Pros:
-outdoor terrace
-good location in Old Port

Only 4 rooms that were having A/C problems. Of course we had one the rooms. If the A/C isn’t working, why continue to reserve the rooms and not just fix the A/C??? Front desk attendant Dennecia was wonderful and was able to get us moved for our last night in Portland. She made the experience enjoyable. She did as much as she could. Just not sure why the hotel couldn’t fix the A/C in the rooms with KNOWN issues.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel. Valet parking was a breeze, even with road construction. Very highly recommended using it over trying to find city parking.

The staff was friendly and quickly answered any questions. Our room was gorgeous and well kept. The only minor issues being dimming lights having slight fuzz outs and the room next to us had a dog that was not enjoying their stay at times.

I would 5/5 stay there again. No questions asked.

The stay itself was quite nice, and the room was mostly cleaned, except there was an errant pill from a previous guest in the sofa. The location was very convenient, but for how much we spent... to have an additional $45 daily valet parking (in a parking lot where I can literally see my car 50 feet away), needing to get and wheel my own luggage cart, poor/generic recommendations from staff, and a mandatory $35 \"use it or lose it\" amenity fee that I can only use on extremely overpriced food or bad snacks -- it doesn't feel great.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location was great.

The things that knocked off a star from the rating are as follows: they don’t have bellhop service. When you arrive at the hotel, they lend you a luggage cart and then you’re on your own. Same thing for checking out. For an upscale five star hotel, that just seems very strange to me.
In our room, the shower door leaked so we had a wet floor and had to ask for extra bath mats.
The television (Dish) didn’t work. I never called to get it fixed because we don’t watch a lot of TV, but we were planning to watch a little Wimbledon and World Cup.

Overall, we really enjoyed it, the restaurant food was amazing. The service there was great. There is the thing about that weird $35 fee, but we’ve spent more than that anyway.

The lack of bell hop service to the room is the most glaring deficiency.

Clean room but the room wasn't well cleaned during the stay. They picked up towels but I noticed trash on the floor.

The 35 facility fee is a joke. Not much to use for 35. If you have breakfast or drinks then the fee is waved.

Air conditioning wasn't working. Never got below 74 degrees F in room tho AC ran the whole time.

I was told I would get a text when my room was ready, I never did and while sitting in lobby hours later watched multiple guests get their rooms.

I was told as an Expedia VIP, there would be a bottle of wine waiting for me in my room. There was none.

The bed made a loud creaking noise every time I moved. Outlets next to the bed were very loose.
While the location was great; not worth the money

Loved our stay and plan to stay again next time we visit. The room (suite garden view) was spacious, bright, very comfortable. We loved the snack/coffee bar on each floor, for grabbing and going and little treats at night to come back to, a very nice touch. Location is 10/10 and so walkable, overall a wonderful stay. Only hiccup I would say is the hefty daily amenity fee plus we were paying valet (about 45/day) which adds up! Otherwise a great value overall.

Beautiful hotel however felt that it is expensive for where it is and then you have $45 daily for valet parking then a $35 resort fee also daily. This can be used towards breakfast or drinks but we only managed to use once during our 2 night stay.
We did not enjoy the breakfast, the hash was very greasy although it was lovely sitting in the garden.
The room was very clean and the staff were nice but we paid less for a better hotel in the centre of Boston so just not value for money.

Beautiful hotel, great location, friendly associates, but would not return to this location. Unfortunately many negatives. They offer what they call is a “kitchen” on every floor- coffee maker did not work and the ice machine did not work- spoke to an associate and was told coffee machine has been out for over 2 months and ice machine was probably a few years. They mentioned that I could go down to the floor below for coffee and the only available ice was downstairs main lobby closet. Was to get 2 waters in your room daily and did not on day 2- the “kitchen”I was told had some water, but at 8:30 the water was out Housekeeping was substandard, did not replace glasses, just rinsed out. Rug was not vacuumed, cold water handle in bathroom was loose and had to tighten a few times. Had dinner at the hotel what the picture showed on the website did not match what was served. We asked for dry salmon, came moist, too much butter/oil- asked if we could have bread to absorb the butter/oil and was charged $6 for a piece of bread.
For paying close to $600. Per day I did expect better

We didn't sleep! The AC unit banged and shuttered and roared every time it shut on throughout the night and literally made the room unsleepable. I mentioned it to the receptionist at the front desk the next morning and there was no follow up or response. It was an expensive room that we booked on Expedia for $445 for the night. I would not stay here again. So disappointing to pay this much and have the hotel only offer to compensate for the valet fee. Many other places you can stay for less money and more sleep!

There was a resort charge per day which was described as a credit. Our one “free” night ended up costing over $118 due to the charge plus charges for breakfast and the market which we had been told were credited to the mandatory charge. It was confusing and not well explained. And it made no sense.

Location, quality of the room, and service is outstanding. Very disappointed to see they’re adding ‘junk’ fees for guests now, though, through ‘destination fees.’ I don’t want to spend $35/day on hotel ‘amenities’—I want to spend my travel dollars on enjoying the local businesses and attractions. Please stop this, hotels.

The property and room was clean and well maintained. The hotel overall and its amenities are spectacular. It was the service by a lot of the staff that drives my rating. The male at the front desk at night gave me the wrong room and asked if my friend could just use the pull out bed, since they were booked. I proceeded to remind him I had reserved the two beds room months in advance and then he told me I was in luck. The bar tender was having a rough night and was not pleasant. The breakfast crew was great! I’d love to return for the hotel but that was a first.

Had an amazing 40th birthday celebration here . Everything was amazing from start to finish ! The courtyard King was well worth it and we loved opening up the door for an evening breeze . Central to dinner and shopping . Walked to dinner reservations + the ferry terminal to ferry over to Peaks Island . NOTABLE - AM room service ( yum!), pantry on every floor for self service coffee , yogurt / granola , snacks , tea , morning pastries . Was nice to pop in and out of the hotel in the morning to keep us nourished .Also notable - courtyard ! , text message service ( I texted for cleaning service / linen change when we left for the day ) , and finally a friendly and accommodating staff. Thank You for making my 40th Birthday a special and memorable one !

Location is fantastic and staff was friendly.
The room and common areas were acceptably clean.
The room was pretty basic and felt a little cramped but I could have booked a suite and didn’t.
Some of the maintenance could have been done better, which would have been more fitting for a well restored building, but whatever.

Unfortunately, we had a room facing Fore Street, which apparently doubles as the Portland Drag Strip on Friday and Saturday night. Super loud motorcycles and cars sped past, revving engines, well after midnight. No clue why the PPD tolerates this.

As others have mentioned, the Resort Fee is silly. Basically, you get charged $35 per day but can get use of those funds if you eat, or drink in their restaurant. We were informed of this upon checking in but I saw no mention of it during the booking process, but perhaps I simply missed it. Several States have outlawed such practices, often referring to them as “predatory pricing” because they’re normally not clear at the time of booking (up-front).
Not a huge deal, as we simply had a drink in the bar every day, but you just wouldn’t expect it from a hotel that’s this nice otherwise. It just feels a but slimy.

I’ll stay elsewhere next time, simply due to the noise, but obviously that’s something they can’t control.
