Novotel Bahrain Al Dana Resort

The hotel is quite old and in need of renovation the decor is outdated, and the furniture and amenities are showing their age. Some of the facilities could definitely use a refresh.

The staff were polite and helpful, which made the stay more comfortable. However, for the price, you’d expect a more modern and well-maintained property.

If you’re not too concerned about the condition of the building and just need the basics with decent service, it’s an okay option.

We travelled as a family and we truly enjoyed the facility. The pool and the private beach is amazing. I would say that the room furniture could use an upgrade. The sofa, bed, and the room were not the greatest, the room is a little bit old and the furniture didn’t seem clean enough. However we enjoyed our time using the pool and we will definitely be coming back.

Must Visit for a beautiful View and Cultural touch

It was a great experience right from the security door to reception with helping staff like Lucy and Babona.
The music which was coming from the next hotel beach was a little too loud to be relaxing enough. Rest all was great and comfortable.

Unfortunately, I book and stay with you so that I can relax all my energy while I work, but unfortunately, at exactly 7 a.m., your maintenance work began on my room. Is this consistent with the name of the Novotel hotel in the world? I am very disturbed by your poor arrangement. If you have maintenance in a building, you do not have the right to provide it. Rooms near the maintenance area, which caused me inconvenience, and I will inform everyone of this misfortune that befell me.

Poor service. Cost cutting affects quality.

I have stayed in the Novotel Al Dana, Bahrain several times over the last 18 year's of visiting Bahrain. The last time was 7 year's ago and there have certainly been changes since then, not for the better.

The service around the beach bar area was terrible, with the bar being unmanned much of the time. Cleaning of the room was also an issue. Apparently now you have to book a time if you want your room cleaned. This wasn't explained at check-in and in my opinion should be automatic and not require a booking.

I complained to the duty manager who explained there had been cut backs since Covid-19. I have stayed in other hotels in Bahrain and their service is much better and hasn't had these cuts. I would recommend staying elsewhere if you want a drink and if you require daily room cleaning. Very sad as used to be a great hotel.

We had a great sty with the kids. Imane was really helpful and arranged an upgrade as it was the children’s birthdays this weekend. Catered to all our needs. The hotel is nice, if dated but staff in general were approachable and helpful. Have stayed here before as the pool and beach area are good especially for the kids. Breakfast has improved from the last time I stayed which is good.

Reservations was for a supervisor room but he gave me a standard room and his justification was the hotel is fully booked eventhough my reservation was confirmed and refused to credit the deference in mt account and had to accept or find others hotels thats is totally Unprofessional way to treat a paying customer

my reservation was for a superiore room and when i checked in the supervisor gave me standard room, without consulting me actually he laid to me stating that is very good room. i checked the room out and it was so small and not balacony. i compained to the supervisor and his answer was we are sorry we are fully booked even though i has a reservation and it was confrimed for a ssuperiore room and worse then that he tryied to sell me and upgarde for extra 20BD. which is crezy becase i have already paid. room did not have any toothbrush and shivers.
one more thing my booking was though hotel.com and when i complain to them they called the hotel and the same supervisor laid to them and stated that we were check in a superiore room. this is my experience with the hotel 18/05/2023.

Hotel was in a great location with good facilities. We selected the half board option and the food was great both at breakfast and dinner.

A few suggestions of improvement would be that the lady who worked in the kids club was asleep at times whilst I was looking after my daughter in there.

Also for the half board dinner option it would be nice to be offered something to drink other than water.

The property has very dated decor - needs a fresh coat of paint, proper switches for lighting, and a USB charging point (as most modern facilities). In addition it had a very dated TVset with poor picture quality. Toilet paper and soap ran out on the 2 nd day and took some time to get replaced - not really acceptable given the rates that were charged.

one thing disturbed what could've been perfect

Very good hotel, very pleasing, good service, I've got a very friendly reception on check-in with a kind voluntary upgrade from beach side to sea side room. The only thing that disturbed this pleasing stay and forced me to take one point out of my rating was at check-out. I asked for a late check out at 2 pm, and they very kindly agreed, however, just before that time was up I received repetitive calls at my room to remind me to check out .. that was totally uncalled for and unnecessary. I would understand that if I was late to check out, however I was not. That was the only negative side on that stay, otherwise it was a good hotel to stay at.

Beautiful older hotel. Well kept. Slight mildew smell to the room but it is on the beach. Staff is very friendly and helpful including the front desk, service, and every employee we have encountered. Will definitely come again when visiting Bahrain. Clean bed and fluffy towels. The ambiance is wonderful. We enjoyed the beautiful pool and hot tub. We had a cheese plate (outstanding!) and wine beachside early evening. We ate at the Le Perl Restaurant. Upscale pricing but the food was exceptional and generous portions! The wait staff was attentive and seemed to know just when to appear and when to let us enjoy our meal in private. The hotel seems to be a good place for families and we enjoyed seeing the children. We were here on a break from work in KSA.

The room wasn't available for check-in by 5 pm. The room we finally got into was not the Sea View room that we booked, and it took several hours the next day to relocate. The staff offered nothing to compensate us for our inconvenience, and overall service left much to be desired. We will not be returning when other options are available.

Read reviews before booking, an advice that I did not do carefully when I booked my room.

The clear scam of writing sea view at the title of the room, is really annoying. My wife and I booked a sea view roam and it was not cheap. We actually chose the highest price in that category to get a room with a good view. However, we got a room that has road view with a tiny sea view. ( which by the way happened to a customer who wrote a review here, only one month ago ) this room should be titled :

>> PARTIAL SEA VIEW<<

The disturbing noises of the cars, horns and the jet skies who likes to play under our room 24/7 is really a piece killer. You keep hearing the sounds All time at night, early morning and after noon.

We have tried to speak with reception to change our room and they refused due to all rooms are booked which is by the way an utter lie. Since we checked on many apps such as hotels, booking, and agoda. All of them have vacancies on all categories.

I spoke with the hotline of hotels.com, since I booked the room through it and they have tried really hard, and they have called them two times ( the first day and the second day ) trying to convince the receptionist, the supervisor and the booking manager to change our room since it is clearly not as stated when we booked as sea view. However they refused saying fully booked. We know they are not. The hotel is at max at 40% capacity.

Very stylish hotel facility decorated in arabic desert mode, that I like and that gives this place unrepeatable charm.Staff helpful and friendly, let us stay in swimming pool as we had late night flight. The beach and sea were really nice. The balcony had nice views and it was huge. It was also rather dirty! Room service came to clean it, but he did a lousy job!! The pool was pretty good as well but there should have been areas for kids and a separate one for adults. They wanted to charge my guest an additional $500 to enjoy the facilities as my guest. Speaking if charges, they charged like $5 for a bucket of ice! The Gym equipment (tread mill) stopped suddenly, which was very dangerous. The locker room was filthy with huge layers of sand on the floor. The attendants on the beach and the gym were never around. The beach area ran out of towels daily and the venue was never more than 50% occupied—so there was no reason for that. The meals at the Mediterranean Grill were over priced and disappointing. The room set up was strange and there was not enough space to put away your clothes, if staying for a week’s time. Definitely seemed to be a weekend retreat. The fridge wasn’t really cold and one of the phones not only didn’t work, but there were also wires hanging out of the wall. Oh and if you stay, learn Russian as most of the signs were only in Russian!

There are better places to stay, especially for the money spent. If you have read this much, then you will not be surprised that I would give the property 3 out of 10 rating.

Disappointing weekend in Bahrain

Had free cancellation until 5 pm, but the hotel charged me for the first night at 10 am!? We arrived at 11 am, there was no room available yet, which was ok, and got a promise to receive a nice room later. Well, the room we got was smelling bad, it was dark, the toilet didn’t flush, the bidet was cracked. The manager offered a different room, which was somewhat better, so we accepted it, even though the toilet seat and the bidet was dirty (despite the “hygienic” band over the toilet seat). Found some black mold in the bathroom, which would explain the musty smell. The rooms are dated, very minimalistic for the category of the hotel.
The staff was a pleasant change, they were very nice and helpful, especially the crew around the pool. Thanks guys for trying to salvage the situation.

For the pricing there wasn’t really much. Play area was made to be more that it actually was. Room was dark and a dead zone for service. The rooms were okay, TV didn’t work and limited stock of personal hygiene kits and towels. When asked for a robe and more kits it was like bargaining. You could hear literally everything going on in the corridors out side the room as if they were in the room. Room service was limited and very bland. Beach was tiny and Staff was very moody, stalkish and gossipers. For the amount payed more was expected, one of my worse resort experience.

Just a quick trip, short stay. Hotel is showing it is a little tired in areas, however, no matter what the over all condition of this hotel is; the hotel staff go out of their way to provide things you need. Breakfast is the standard fare breakfast, except, the hummous is outstanding. Otherwise, the hot tub was great, pool area was great and the beach and surrounding parking areas were clean and very well attended.

It was a great short holiday. The resort grounds are awesome, the pool is well maintained, and has a great swim up bar. The breakfast buffet has good selection of food, including pork bacon and sausage. The beds are comfortable, however, the rooms could use some updating. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Novotel is outside the high rise development of Manama and its architecture is more Arabic styled.
All of the facilities that we used were fine and the staff were excellent.
The room had a an older rather than feel to it, which suited us . it was very clean and comfortable.
La Perle fish restaurant was first class with staff who knew all about the food. They offered us a selection of fish to share and we then asked them to cook it the way that they thought was best. The result was a memorable meal.
All of the staff were very obliging from the pick up at the airport to being dropped back for our flight home.

It's close to the airport. They were great about late checkout (4pm). The breakfast buffet has a very good variety but is on the expensive side 10BD. The pool is very pretty and relaxing. The private beach is small but nice. Free wifi everywhere is very quick but unsecured.

The hotel is a little older than I like. It wasn't completely awful, but we had to request serveral times for them to come and clean our room because we weren't ready to have it cleaned at there designated time. The towels used in the suites were really old and needed to be replaced. The staff was rude to some of the other guest who came with me. Not sure if it was a race thing or not, but the pool attendant just walked up and told them they had to pay to use the pool. No one else at the pool area was spoken to about paying and it became an issue. He didn't ask if they were staying just demanded that they pay for use of the pool. It took awhile for the hotel management to correct the issue and to issue an apology.

Our booking included transportation from the airport if arrangements are made in advance. We made arrangements and provided our flight number. The hotel representatives did not wait for us to clear customers and retrieve our baggage and left. Upon calling the hotel we were informed we took too long after our flight landed and the representative left and there would be an additional charge if they came back to pick us up. Once we checked into the hotel, they wanted to charge us for two airport transport ion fees.

Once we checked in, the bellman did not know where the room was located and walked us around the perimeter of the property, up and down some stairs, and eventually passed the room which was located on the ground floor.

The resort is really good, but unfortunately reception stuff are really bad. My reservation was for two rooms with pool view connected or close to each other; the reception offered me two rooms with no pool view one was OK with balcony where the other was terrible. I went back to the reception and they said that due to unavailablility of pool view room we are sorry to give you the rooms you got. They kept talking to each other in philipino irrespectivly. I had a quick check online for room availability, and guess what, pool view rooms still available for booking.
It seems that they don't care about customers who booked through Expedia.

It can't get any worse,if you stay in the ground floor the windows are not reflecting anyone outside can see you inside your room

The hotel itself is very beautiful, excellent location - great pool area. The rooms are just OK though we had a HUGE balcony - a place like this you really don't want to spend much time in the room anyhow.

Pool should have stayed heated as it is advertised as a heating pool but they said other people complained it was too hot so they turned it off but we got cold and didnt swim the last 2 days given it was in early October and it does get chilly.

Kids playroom could use more toys for children a bit older - was more for ages 5 and below only.

Breakfast buffet was expensive, 20BH for 2 adults and 2 children ages 3 and 4.

The Hotels is nice, but the services in general are bad. The front desk is very slow. There were only two persons work in reception and answering the phone. In the room, there is no directory book to know what the hotel offer. There is no phone directory to tell about the extension of the hotels services. Housekeeping is very slow to provide services.

Generally it was a good stay even though I got some annoyances during that period.
I liked:
The location of the hotel.
Staff kindness.
The style of the hotel.
The view of the swimming pool.
The variety of breakfast.
The enjoyment of swimming pool.
I didn't like:
The lateness of check in.
The room facilities & cleanliness.
The bad smell of room/bathroom.
Bathroom sewage was flooding every time I took shower.(Room#1114)
Reception staffs seems low experience.
At the end me & my family enjoyed our time in Bahrain.

Enjoyed my stay

Hotel is well maintained. Room is small; however furnished with a comfortable bed and equipped with a TV that shows my favorite channels (NATG, Discovery, etc..). Staff everywhere in the hotel are very professional and treating guests with a smile and respect (very important). I tried some of the traditional food and it was very tasty. Laundry services as well was good (expect little delay for quick service; however good in general). Towels are good and most thing I enjoyed was the soap and shower gel (rose-oud) smell is very nice and it makes a tired person relax and restore the pleasure of life.
The thing that I didn’t enjoy was the view to the city as it was not impressive. I kept the curtain low most of the time (curtain is equipped with an electrical motor and a remote).
Hotel became part of my favorite list.

Good value for money.

Lovely looking hotel with good facilities. The room was adequate with a good shower and comfortable bed. Coffee and tea making facilities need to be improved. Very good choice at breakfast and the staff were attentive. We had a couple of drinks in the bar overlooking the bay and although the bar room is smokey the service was excellent.

A/C didn't work, Initial room was different from offer, I request change and was changed, Restaurant is very good, Breakfast very Good, very clean and comfortable beds, no posible to enjoy beach and pool due cool weather, overall OK.

Wasn't what I expected. Walking into the room was like walking into a cave. Cold clam my and had a moldy smell. Also it was a little dated. The restaurant had great food and the bar was excellent. Recommend renovating the rooms.
