Our stay at The Bale Nusa Dua was absolutely unforgettable! The best thing about this property is without a doubt the staff—they go above and beyond to make you feel not only welcome but truly part of the family.

The property itself is sleek and contemporary, with an intimate and exclusive feel. The private pool villas are exceptional—romantic, quiet, and incredibly memorable. We especially loved the relaxing outdoor bed beside the private pool, which was the perfect spot to unwind.

The breakfast experience was outstanding. You can choose to dine at the restaurant or in your villa, which is a wonderful touch. We opted for the “floating breakfast” in our private pool—an experience we’ll never forget!

Two staff members who truly stood out were Kiki and Bayu, both of whom went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Their warmth and attentiveness made our trip so special.

The property also offers a free shuttle service within the local area, bookable through an app, which made it very convenient for us to explore, shop, and dine locally. The spa and gym facilities are top-notch as well, adding to the luxury of the stay.

Overall, The Bale Nusa Dua is ideal for a romantic getaway. Because it’s not a massive property, the attention and service you receive are incredibly personal and first-class.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Balé.
The staff were super friendly and helpful.
The property itself is truly amazing.
The villas are very clean and spacious with your own private pool, not to mention a full sized covered day bed.
The Balé has their own vehicle/driver, for which they are very accommodating if you need an airport transfer or ride within the Nusa Dua area.
Upon arrival the staff will assist you in down loading an app enabling everything to be at your finger tip for arranging room service, tours, transport, spa treatments, or to contact reception if away from the villas.
A big thank you to all for making our stay very memorable.

It’s the staff at a hotel / resort that make a good stay, great. To everyone at The Balé… from Beny the head chef, to Yanick the GM, the amazing drivers that ran us around Nusa Dua (and helped negotiate best entry into the beach clubs) through to the owner himself making introductions, we would recommend The Balé to anyone wanting an intimate, enjoyable adults-only experience in Nusa Dua. Relaxing 5 Star Retreat in Nusa Dua

We booked to stay 4 nights at the Bale for some relaxation and to play a couple of days of golf. From the minute we arrived we were treated to the most attentive service. We were helped to download an app which allowed us to communicate with staff 24/7 and they were always so prompt. They recommended restaurants at our request and booked all transport for us. The Villa itself (Villa 33) was spacious and beautiful. It had a pool, outdoor day bed, coffee machine, gorgeous bath tub with tv, outdoor and indoor shower (we only used the outdoor shower in the garden), the bed was soooo comfortable. Large TV in the main room and stereo system, AND it was so peaceful, we didn't hear another soul, only birds and frogs. We ate at Faces Restaurant and also had two breakfasts there which were delicious, would totally recommend. Staff were so attentive. On day 2 we had a family emergency and had cut our stay short to fly home. Everyone was so helpful in cancelling all our bookings and making it as easy as possible for us. We will be definitely be returning to The Bale but next time for longer. I would definitely recommend this retreat to anyone wanting an adults only escape with 5 star service and accomodation.

Where do I start! First, let me start by saying the staff were amazing! Anything you need, just let them know; they are overly accommodating! This trip was a birthday trip for my other half so I booked the flower bath and had them bring a cake to our room. Not only did they make sure everything had gone smooth, they sung Happy Birthday as they delivered the cake. He was head over hills, lol!

The floating breakfast was also amazing! Decent food, too!

Next!!! The room is GORGEOUS!!!! The way you enter the room is flawless. Nevertheless, I felt like a king entering his palace as I walked in. The private pool was everything!

I just can’t get enough of this place. Let me just say, this is home! No one else can have my business.

I’ve stayed at the Bale a few times and the private villas and pool are a great concept but it’s getting very tired.

Last visit there were boards lifting in my suite (trip hazard), the internet didn’t work for half of my stay and for $600 per. night AUD that’s not acceptable.

The breakfast is lovely but room service is a classic case of the menu doesn’t match the product when a premium price is being charged.

Sadly the bigger chains look much better value for the price v quality.

Even before we arrived the resort was helping us organise our stay.

The staff certainly make this resort. They are clearly very proud and have every reason to be.

We stayed in a double pavilion with friends, we had a great space to spend time together and enough privacy for times in between. The private pool was huge.

The spa was excellent, the treatments were amazing. Do yourself a favour and book something, anything!

The use of the resort car for local trips is genius and made things very easy.

The restaurant was able to adapt to our dietary requirements and even went off menu for us.

Adults only meant peace and quiet.

This place was hands down one of the best stays i have ever had. The Bale was incredibly luxurious and private. The service was impeccable with anything we ever needed they would be there instantaneously. The App with all your needs and services was very convenient and easy to use, more hotels need to look into this service as it was so easy to text our butler with anything ever needed. The private beach club was great. The service at the private beach club with the box with water, sunscreen, cooling gel and mister was a great touch and made it seem like the whole beach was just for us. The rooms and the private in villa pool is absolutely incredible. I will be recommending this all family and friends to stay and if back in Nusa dua, we will be staying here again!

Best honeymoon ever

We spent the last four nights of our honeymoon at The Balé. We were welcomed by the general manager and got a welcome drink and a complimentary 15 minute massage. It was the perfect start of a great stay. Amazing property, beautiful and spacious villa, great service, wonderful food and drinks. Complimentary shuttle service to and from the beach, as well as all over Nusa Dua area, was very nice. The Tapa restaurant belonging to the hotel cooked up some mouthwatering tapas and the cocktails were out of this world. We would definitely come back. Thank you for your hospitality! From the moment we checked in to our last minute at the Balé, it was all first class. Staff at restaurant (faces) are people we would now consider family as they treated us as such. Food and beverage led by Chef Nadi is superb in your pavilion or in the restaurant blew our minds of the flavors and presentation of true Balinese cooking, fresh and delicious. Our pavilion had all the amenities we could wish for and more. If you need anything just ask and the staff will accommodate so warmly. There are a lot of extras that we didn’t expect like how they refused to let us pay for taxis. They drove us anywhere we wanted that was close by and asked if we needed to stop anywhere along the way. The staff here gives you the true meaning of Balinese culture and hospitality. We took advantage of the spa (5*) and cooking tour & class (5*) by the executive chef.

Big architecture, a little too minimalist

The Bale is a bit too big in terms of its design and architecture for its own good - the public spaces feel more like civic spaces (like say within a public park) than a luxury hotel, and there is no sense of cosiness you'd normally get with a 5* boutique hotel with only about 30 rooms. I like minimal, but this is slightly spooky!

Our deluxe pavillion was very spacious, but facilities (tv, stereo system) were slightly dated. Numerous gekkos call out throughout the night, about 1 metre from your ear as you lie in bed - this could easily be irritating, but I love gekkos and it was a bit like a grandfather clock, chiming the time.

The food was very good - Tapa restaurant had good quality and variety for casual eats, and Faces was sophisticated and elegant. Choice, quality, price and quantity were all good.

We were on half board, and between breakfast & evening meal, we had no space for lunch! Our package also offered a free bar 6pm-8pm each day (which we didn't know when we booked, but which was a major plus - very wide choice of cocktails, spirits, beers and wines on offer, great!).

The spa treatments were very good, and sensibly priced. All in all, a great place to retreat to for a romantic getaway, if you don't expect much interaction with other guests and you can shake the feeling that everything is on too large a scale.

The town of Nusa Dua itself we found underwhelming and not worth the effort.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

I did hesitate initially to travel alone over the Xmas/New Year Holidays, however the kind and caring staff at The Bale, made we feel safe and secure immediately. The kindness, hospitably and genuine desire to fulfil my every request was astonishing. The staff at The Bale made we feel as if I was living in my own home and not a hotel room.
In particular, Riska, Ras and Ari were brilliant and of course Andrea the General Manager showed outstanding levels of service. Thank you for making by week stay so enjoyable.
The 2 restaurants, The Face (more formal dining) and Tapa ( more casual bistro dining/bar) both offered a good balance between local Balinese, Thai and Western dishes. All were very tasty and well presented.
The Spa was great. Again excellent selection of treatments with highly skilled therapists.
I love beaches on holidays and although The Bale is not beach front, the clean, picturesque, quiet Geger Beach is a 10 minute walk from the resort. The Bale do offer a complimentary shuttle transfer should you not want to walk.
There is a private fenced off area on the beach for The Bale residents which was appreciated, however the staff attending to this area were rarely there to assist apart from the initial entrance to provide complimentary beach towels, sun screen, water, etc. The staff tended to disappear mostly after this initial meeting which was at times disappointing. The private area became less private when other non-guests took the opportunity to enter.

Disappointing hotel fantastic staff. Service was sensational. Rooms are old and not well maintained. Doors don't close properly and thus let all manner of insects into the room. Had to disinfect the room before sleeping every night. We did tell staff about our issues. They were extremely sympathetic and did whatever they could to address the changes. Management was also excellent in offering compensation.

It was a great little private gateway. Very quiet and highly recommended for Honeymooners. The only negative was on our last day, the manager convinced us to attend a Satay dinner with entertainment event at the hotel restaurant and we got food poisoning before our 15h flight back home. They probably undercooked the chicken satay or cross contaminated the meat. It made our last day of our honeymoon quite unpleasant.

Our stay at The Bale was perfection! Our villa and private pool was the epitome of simple elegance and luxury. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and peaceful, we were amazed at how quiet it is at The Bale even though it is so close to the main part of Nusa Dua.
We loved having fantastic massages at the spa - my husband got great relief for his injured shoulder and I just blissed out after a fabulous hot rocks experience.
The food at Faces restaurant and Tapas is first rate and the daily breakfast is truly something special. We were privileged to attend a special Sate Night which included an open air Sate BBQ along with a local Balinese entertainment of music and dancing. Guests were invited to join in and everyone had a great night.
I can also highly recommend a cooking class with the brilliant Chef Nadi, he is so knowledgeable and has a wicked sense of humour. The class includes a trip to Janbaran markets where Chef introduced us to the delights of shopping in the fresh food and seafood stalls - truly a highlight of our trip as we learned so much about how to choose ingredients for our Balinese feast.
Finally, I must mention the staff of The Bale whose genuine warmth and friendliness made our stay at The Bale so memorable- we were blown away by the generosity of their hospitality.
Do yourself a favour and make a booking.

The upgraded villa was beautiful. If you were incredibly picky you could point out small floors and parts that needed cosmetic fixing - but for what you have and where you are the villa exceeded all expectations.
I have read through lots of reviews for this hotel and can agree wholeheartedly that this was a wonderful find and I hope to be able to visit again very soon

Perfect in Paradise

The Villas in The Bale are all lovely. More than ample space even in the smallest, with huge beds and pools that are plenty big enough to swim. A garden to sit out or do your yoga and an enormous \"bale\" day bed under a canopy. The TVs are big and modern with loads of movie and international channels and the AC is great.

The Bale grounds are minimalist style and impeccably clean white stone. Faces Restaurant offers Indonesian and European food at a level to match the very best most expensive hotels and restaurants on the Island but at a cost which is a fraction of Aman. Go for In Villa Dinning and they really make eating in your garden a lovely intimate experience.

This is tip top luxury at a surprisingly affordable price.

What a wonderful holiday we had here-7 nights in a villa, with everything we needed in our villa to never leave, but with the added advantage of being in a resort with a resort pool, 2 restaurants, spa and fitness facilities.
Our villa was very quiet and comes with a decent sized pool, cabana area, deck lounges for sunbathing, and a stylish and comfortable room and massive ensuite area, complete with large bath and inside and outside showers.
The professional staff are well trained and attentive to all your needs.

One of the best hotel experiences I've had

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at The Bale recently. It was under odd circumstances as the volcano kept most tourists away from the island. As a result, there were few other guests at the property. We received an upgrade to their Deluxe Villa, which was no short of amazing. The staff were extremely attentive and quick to respond to any need. The hotel has a courtesy shuttle that dropped us off at the beach and at a restaurant in Nusa Dua. The courtesy welcome massage was performed by skillful therapists. The breakfast is among the best I've ever had (which is saying something!). They allowed us to check-in early and check-out late. Again, I think this is mostly due to the circumstance around the volcano. But we were very pleased and we agree that this is the best hotel experience my wife and I have ever had. I'd certainly stay there again if I get the chance. I'd highly recommend.

Relaxing and Comfortable

Our stay was very relaxing overall and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However I think the hotel and the rooms can use better upkeep as we could tell that the furnishing has some wear and tear. The food was also decent, however could have a wider selection and offer 24 hour room service as well. We felt nice and relaxed from our stay, and we enjoyed our private pool very much.

Great design, mediocre service

So to start I loved the design of the hotel, it's trendy and modern. We also enjoyed the tapa restaraunt. However, the location is awkward nothing is walkable so you either need to use the free car transportation or a bluebird taxi. The pool was great so was the breakfast. However, the service left much to be desired from the check in to the breakfast, the staff seemed a little forced. I didn't know how to explain but the welcome and warmth wasn't genuine, to sum up I didn't feel any of the famous Indonesian hospitality.

Quiet and perfect for never leaving your villa

The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room we were given initially lacked the privacy touted by the resort, but that was easily resolved upon request. It may be due to an off-season visit, but the grounds were very quiet, with no crowds to be found. The villa's are great for a relaxed stay and once you factoring in room service, offer everything you need if looking to lounge around for a long weekend. There is a beach near by, accessed by short walk or golf cart ride, and they resort has a private area next to the more populous public area. As an Expedia+ member, I received a discounted rate on all food and drinks purchased there, which was a nice bonus.

Amazing Honeymoon

My wife and I stayed for one week at The Bale on our Honeymoon. From start to finish we had the most wonderful stay and cannot speak highly enough of every aspect of our time there!! Absolutely wonderful service; welcoming, friendly and helpful staff; beautiful and clean rooms; everything we needed right when we needed it! Our butler helped us with recommendations of what to do in Bali and organised day trips for us. She even noticed when we were sun burnt and provided us with soothing aloe vera cream! We enjoyed the delicious meals, the quiet and peace of our villa and the private pools.

We will hopefully be back again for an anniversary and highly recommend The Bale!!

Tranquil Retreat Resort

My entire stay was exactly what I was looking for - a quiet, relaxing and tranquil retreat. The staff from the front desk, the grounds keepers, the food service and concierge were warm, welcoming and friendly - always greeted me with a smile and ready to make my stay the best it could be. It was very thoughtful that The property manager (Madeline) took the time to introduce herself to me while I was dinning. The private bungalows with its swimming pool, gazebo and lawn added to the beauty and made my stay even that much more special! I am certainly going to stay here again - and would recommend this place to my family, friends and colleagues.

This was out grand finally in indonesia after having traveled jakarta, jogji, ubud, here we got to experience calm and pleasure at its best! Amazing design if you are adventorous and dynamic. The pricvate pools and villa are nt worrh going elsewhere.. Will defenetly come back

Calm Understated Elegance

From the moment we were met at the airport by one of the drivers from The Bale, it felt as though our needs were being anticipated and then discretely met, as though nothing was too much trouble for the staff at this beautiful tranquil place. The resort was reached around 80% occupancy during out stay, but it often felt as though we were the only guests. Thank you so much to everyone, from the grounds staff and housekeepers to the butlers, waitresses and chefs. We had a wonderful stay and felt very spoiled!

Good stay with The Bale

This is our second stay in The Bale. Great for couples. Love the fact that there are age limit to stay here. Service has been consistently good. Breakfast is awesome. Couple of things could be improved: the room is a bit dark. I wished the lights are adjustable ( from bright to dim light instead of dim light only ). The toilet didn't work properly. The kettle didn't work properly. I wished there are two shower heads ( one rain shower head and one removable head ).
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you The Bale!

Great spot for a romantic holiday

Single standard villa was not quite as big as the photos, but the pool and grounds were fantastic. Beautiful Frangipani trees everywhere. Convenient to beach and golf. Not so convenient to restaurants, but the food was fine at The Bale itself. Service was outstanding, really outstanding. The only complaint from our visit is that Bali has become overrun with tourists. It's not what it was 15-20 years ago. But if you are looking for somewhere to go and chill out, have no need to fight the traffic to get to Kuta or Sanur or Seminyak, then The Bale is a great place to relax for a few days. If you have kids or a need for nightly entertainment, it's not the place for you.

Great villas, average food and service

We had high hopes for this hotel and it was a great stay. The villas are the best part of it, they are so romantic. And the location is not as crowded as Seminyak, which is great. You can still go to Jimbaran and Uluwatu with no problem. The only reason we cannot give it a five is because the food is not that good, the beach club us underwhelming and they did not pull off the \"butler\" service. We thought the butlers where a little bit intrusive sometimes, even though we know they mean well.

Summing up, if they invest in better food and give the guests some space it will be for sure the most exclusive romantic hotel in Nusa Dua.

Bale's pool villa is stunning with a small garden next to the pool. We were there for three days. Very relaxing. The nearby beach is not as nice as the resort. Neither is Bale's beach club on that beach. But I guess if you have a pool villa like this you won't spend too much time at the beach.

The perfect place for a peaceful romantic getaway

This place was amazing and exactly what we were looking for! We need a break from the chaos of normal life, a little bit of luxury and some peace and quiet... and this place delivered and then some!

Upon arriving we were encouraged to relax at the lobby and were given a delicious refreshing drink while a man who seemed to have a permanent smile (his name was too long to pronounce or remember sorry) gave us the run down on the facilities, services, and what to see and do.

The room (the word 'room' is hardly adequate) and outdoor area were incredible.... far exceeding expectations! It was hard to go out and do things it was so comfortable and beautiful. We hardly used the butler (a bit outside our comfort zone) but the few requests were responded to well.

The food at both restaurants was fantastic and the cocktails (though light on alcohol) were the best I have tasted! What struck us most was how quiet and pleasant it was, never super busy or bustling with people or noise - exactly what we wanted!

The stand out feature of this place - aside from the incredible room and atmosphere, oh and the driver and the butler - has to be the staff. They were so smiling and happy and proactive. They went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional.

My only regret is that we didn't stay longer! It took a few days to really unwind and enjoy the place... and then we really only had a day before we left.

Bali Tip: Get a taxi to Ubud (stay there a few days if you can) as it is AMAZING.

Perfect for couples

We have just returned from spending two blissful weeks at The Bale. Our experience was positive from the moment we arrived at the airport until we were transported back on our last day. The service level at this resort is outstanding with your every need attended to promptly. Our villa was private, clean, well maintained and fully serviced with an on-call butler.
The on-site restaurant (Faces) is excellent and meals can be enjoyed either in the breezy pool-side restaurant or in the privacy of your villa.
What is truly outstanding about this resort though is the staff. They consistently went the extra mile to ensure we were well taken care of.
We loved this resort and will treasure the time spent at The Bale.

This is a really good choice for Bali!

This is a terrific choice for a hotel stay in Bali. Keep in mind it is in nusa dua, a good 20-30 min (15 usd) cab ride from Kuta. But honestly if you are here to chill, relax , sunbathe , then nusa dua is an excellent spot.

The hotel itself is really good, very nice rooms , private pools etc etc. Service was excellent most of the time, and at other times it was good, but never was it bad service. The butler keeps changing everyday so it depends on him/her ... But again it ranges from good-excellent.

We had some hiccups with changing bed sheets and towels but once we requested them to be changed they were without a hitch.
Food exceeded expectations especially the breakfast in your villa !! Amazing amazing selection of food and coffee... Their cocktails are also some of the best we had on the island.. Try the sake martini and the bacon Bloody mary (Ya it was amazing)

The only reason we didn't give this hotel 5 stars has little to do with the hotel itself. It's just that in Bali you are so so so spoiled for choice in terms of interior design, room views and location . The Bale is definetly really high up their but it lacks the stunning views of say Karma Kandara or Alila, and the insane architecture of The Mulia, or the fun location of The Legian. But that's not their fault, it's Bali's for being so awesome.

If you book here, you won't be disappointed especially if you are a couple... NO KIDS policy rocks and is another one of the reasons we picked this hotel!

We stayed at the single pavilion villa. Very comfy, private and quiet. The Hotel provides free shuttle service within nusa dua and benoa area, I have to thanks to all the drivers for their excellent service. The hotel also has a beach area only for the hotel guests. Very beautiful and private. they also provide free sunscreen and water, very thoughtful. The worst part of the hotel is that there were shower drain problem in our villa. the water didn't go down so we had to lift up the drain cover every time we use. in spite of the shower problem, we enjoyed a lot in this hotel.

World class service.

My wife and I added 8 days at the Nikko to the end of a long month of travel. What a fabulous way to finish our trip! This is a gorgeous property with anything you may need and a lot of things you wouldn't have thought of. If you go without children you MUST do the Nikko Club add-on. The breakfast is fantastic, the Canapes tasty, and the refreshing drinks (including beer) are free from 11 to 7. But the best reason to be in the Nikki Club is the people who run it. I have never seen such eagerness to please combined with generous warmth. They won't let you open a door or even press and elevator button. I'm not kidding. I tried to take coffee back to my room and they insisted on following me with it on a serving tray. If you are looking to be pampered you can do no better!

Overrated Hotel - Very noisy and uncomfortable rooms for a 5 STAR

The Architecture of the Hotel is modern and clean with nice sandstone walls and timber screens that create a positive overall environment. Our villa was located completely at the top of the 100 steps or more and had a nice overflowing pool though lacked some visual privacy and green vegetation.

What we hated though was:

1 The very loud & disruptive noise from the 24/24 hr site opposite the Hotel especially at night. We had to call the reception at midnight to complain and had a very bad sleep with less than 3 hrs sleep the whole night with all the drilling and noise going on.

2. There was a problem with our air-conditioning as the room did not cool down at all during the whole afternoon. There was also a very big noise from the airconditioning condensor unit which is just next to the bedroom. We complained a few times but nothing could be done to resolve this.

3. No black-out curtains in the room so light gets in as the curtains are very small and thin and don't overlap.

4. The spa treatment room was very small, with only 30-40 cms between the 2 massage beds. It was definitely not a positve spa experience to Bali standard though the massage itself was good.

In overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful retreat in Bali. There are so many great boutique and charming hotels around and the Bale seriously needs a great renovation to be able to match the 5 star luxury standard that they claim.

You cannot loose with people this friendly

In a quiet area with no night life, you can get the free bus to the local small village. and a bus to the shops which are not too far away.
It is the locals that make the holiday, you cannot possibly go around during the day without feeling welcome.
Would advise anybody who wantss a quiet, peaceful and happy holiday to go here.
If you are a couple on holiday join the hotel club for a price and get your own private area with pool and free drinks and snacks all day.
