My husband and I (and our dog) had a lovely three night stay. The hosts Amelia and Ron were so welcoming, and made us delicious breakfasts. They filled us in on the history of the Inn and the neighboring area. Our room was comfortable and cozy, and we enjoyed the hot cocoa and soft drinks that were always available. Just the post-Christmas getaway we needed.

Fantastic experience all around. Beautiful kept inn, the landscaping was stunning, and extremely well kept inside. Between the smores station, and the fresh baked cookies every afternoon the guests experience is really a priority. Rooms are very clean and the attention to detail by the maid was incredible. Even Hung up clothes that I had on the couch for
Me while I was gone. Breakfast in the mornings was very delicious and not your normal run of the mill breakfast.
Very charming inn, a true bed and breakfast. Can’t recommend staying here enough, will be back!

We LOVED our stay at Waldo Emerson!

Our room was unique, the property was quiet, and Amelia was so friendly. We enjoyed breakfast each morning with other guests and the best coffee - a special blend from a coffee shop in Kennebunk. Amelia had tons of amenities available to us - bikes, a fire pit with s'more supplies, cash honor bar, sitting rooms, coolers, beach towels, beach parking passes, etc.

The property was just a few minutes away from Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, with easy onsite parking.

We cannot recommend Waldo Emerson enough!

Such a beautiful place to stay! My wife and I stayed here for four days and enjoyed every moment! The breakfast was lovely, The s’mores and the fire pit were nightly staples, and the staff (especially Kathy) were so accommodating and sweet! Altogether a lovely stay and wonderful stories.

A week with Mom

This is a lovely B&B. The hosts have thought about everything that makes your stay so very special. The beds were comfortable, the shower water was hot, the other guests were enjoyable and The breakfast was delicious. They offer bikes to ride. We enjoyed the community spaces and loved the fire pit with our own s’more kits. I highly recommend The Waldo Emerson!! I’m hopeful to return sooner than later.

Amelia and Ron have created a beautiful and homey atmosphere that welcomed us into a comfortable retreat from the ordinary to the exceptional. The king bed was so great and the bathroom spotless. Great Historic Inn in Kennebunk, ME

My wife and I had a delightful time at the historic Waldo Emerson Inn. The back half was built in 1753 and the front half in the 1780, yet this historic home had all the conveniences of the modern world: snug windows, heated bathroom floor, and easy to control heatng. The B&B was originally the home of the great-uncle of Ralph Waldo Emerson.

One of our favorite times were breakfast. Amelia, our hostess, is a great cook and so much fun to be around. While we stayed 11 days, the variety of breakfasts never ceased. We would gladly stay there again. In fact, we are looking forward to it.

Innkeepers Amelia and Ron and their assistant Michael couldn't have been nicer and more attentive and accommodating. It was the most pleasant experience we had the whole time in Maine. The food was delicious, thoughtful and plentiful. We can't wait to go back to this inn!

An amazing property with an amazing host and staff! Convenient to downtown shopping & restaurants, and also wonderful to return to nice and quiet surroundings. Easy access to the beach, highways to do some sight-seeing. Breakfast was AMAZING every day! The room was very comfy and plenty of room to move around. Great spot for dog owners...our Tucker loved it!

The owners were extremely kind, attentive and informative. The breakfasts were wonderful. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable. It faced a relatively busy road and was noisy in the early am. We are very early risers so weren’t too disturbed but late risers may want to book a room in the back section of the inn. Very nice place with interesting history and close drive to Kennebunkport.

Must see, must stay!

We decided on a last minute trip to see family that was staying in Kennebunkport and were so lucky to see that a room was open at the Waldo Emerson Inn. Hana 1 and Hana 2 were amazing hostesses during our entire stay. I have dietary restrictions and they were so thoughtful to make sure I had plenty for breakfast, including GF french toast - they even made me some GF cookies one night! The inn is beautiful, quaint, and homey. The beds are comfortable and the Comphy sheets are luxuriously soft. We cannot wait for our next trip to Maine - we will most definitely be staying there again!

We had the best stay at the Waldo in Maine. The innkeeper was outstanding and the food was just what we wanted. I will never stay anywhere else when I?m Maine. Location was convenient to beach, old orchard and most of all Portland. I will continue to recommend this very cute B n B.

My wife and I enjoyed our weekend getaway at the inn. Super affordable and a wonderful host who turned out to be the new owner. She was responsive to messages and questions prior to our arrival and made our stay very comfortable. Cozy space with lots of interesting history inside and nearby. Breakfast was excellent on both mornings and made from fresh ingredients. Our bedroom was also comfy. Overall a very lovely stay with lots of fine touches. We hope to be back.

Great Escape

My husband and I were so grateful to have spent an overnight at the beautiful, historic Waldo Emerson Inn. We were treated in a way by the new Innkeeper, Hana, that made us feel both at home and spoiled with a delicious breakfast and wonderful hospitality. The Inn has been refreshed with a mix of colonial charm and tasteful decor and artwork. We also had a special behind the scenes tour of this historic building. It was a great escape for us!

Exceptional! I recently stayed at the Waldo Emerson Inn during Christmas Prelude. The inn is wonderfully located midway between Kennebunk and Kennebunkport offering an intimate retreat from the hustle and bustle of activity. The new innkeeper has updated the inn with heavenly linens and smart TVs, yet it still maintained it?s historical charm. The breakfast was scrumptious!

Good B&B in great location.

The couple that own and run the inn are warm and welcoming. They leave the door open and attach a note welcoming guests if they are not available to greet guests as they arrive. They serve a wonderful breakfast that is shared with the other guests at a large table for ten. Bathrooms and shower are small, but to be expected in a house as old as this one built in 1753.

Awesome Stay

We stayed 3 nights at the Waldo Emerson Inn. The house is rich in history and beautiful in example. We stayed in Ralphs Library and it was clean and very comfortable. Innkeepers John and Kathy are warm and welcoming and we loved to listen to John's stories. I'm not a big breakfast eater but I would go back just to eat the delicious breakfasts, these people outdo any restaurant I have eaten in. For 3 days we felt very at home. Thank you John and Kathy!

A Warm & Welcoming Stay

The innkeepers were welcoming and warm. The room was spacious and very clean. Jon and Kathy made a most delicious breakfast filled with fruit, sausage, gourmet pancakes with blueberry syrup or maple syrup and the coffee was outstanding. We felt like we were old friends invited to share their home.

I appreciate the charm of vintage b&b's, but found the Emerson a bit run down. After reading great reviews, we were surprised. Our room was not particularly comfortable and off the main hall, next to the reception area. Our bathroom was tiny. I don't believe it warranted the price of the accommodation. That said, the breakfasts were very good, the location convenient and the inn keepers pleasant.

John and Kathy have a great old home, very rustic but yet has all the modern amenities. Kathy provided great suggestions of things to do and see and Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. I would highly, highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast, hands down. :) The owners, John and Kathy, are extremely hospitable and friendly. The house itself is seeped in history and beauty and if these walls could talk, I'd love to listen. :) I took pictures of the floors and furniture and quilts -- they were so beautiful and timely and just a delight to be able to stay in a house that still maintains this historical interior design. The outside had some lovely Adirondack and relaxing chairs to soak in the afternoon or evening. They have living rooms (libraries?) -- or basically areas to sit and enjoy the company of who you are with, and/or meet other guests. :) I loved the quilts in the room and the tiny touches that were spread throughout. And the breakfast (!!!!) :) What not to love - the homemade granola was to die for, I had a bowl first off and totally wanted the recipe or a batch to go. :) We also had this amazing French toast blueberry casserole or bread pudding, for which I also wish I had the recipe. And fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice, sausage and I'm probably forgetting other items. It was just delicious. The dining room was very welcoming, and I enjoyed chatting with some of the other guests over breakfast. :) We stayed even after we were done eating to chat some more. I could have built an entire Maine vacation over staying at this bed and breakfast, and someday soon I just might. :) I highly, highly recommend this bed and breakfast, and my friend and I agreed that we will be back. You will not be disappointed. Gosh, as I am writing this, I miss it already. Gives me something to look forward to for my next trip up to Maine. :)

We took a weekend trip to Kennebunk and stayed at the Waldo Emerson Inn. It was a very nice place to stay. John and Kathy were very hard working and accommodating.

We read in the guest book that the food was fantastic and that John missed his calling as a chef. We thought the food was good, but it was about what you would expect from a B&B... The food was fresh and it was pretty good, but I didn't think it was special.

I would definitely recommend the Waldo Emerson Inn. John and Kathy were very nice!!!

Welcomed with a smile, the room was perfect, bed was comfy, towels changed each day. The owners were very pleasant and, I believe, did truly enjoy interacting with their clients. The inn is in a great location , lots of good stuff easy to find. Breakfast was truly divine, homemade granola, fruits , coffee, tea, and a hot dish, eggs/bacon one day, sausage, blueberry stuffed French toast next day. I really enjoyed staying there.

I want to move in

Just spent too short a time at the Waldo Emerson Inn. Not only are the rooms comfortable, they show a wonderful attention to detail. There are chairs in which to sit and read and handmade quilts on the bed. The bathroom was up to date and stocked with fluffy towels, monogrammed face cloths (including black ones for makeup removal), and special Waldo Emerson lavender soap. There are two public lounges in the inn for reading, talking, having a glass of wine, or watching one of the large screen TVs hidden behind cabinet doors so the rooms don't feel like media rooms but more like a cozy living room. The inn has any working fireplaces and I couldn't help wishing I were there on a snowy winter night smelling the muffins for the next day's breakfast drifting from the kitchen. Breakfast is prepared by the owners and served in the dining room. While the cooked breakfast is the same for everyone, they make sure to inquire about any food restrictions when you reserve and again upon arrival. Although the cooked breakfast is amazing, you can opt for fresh fruit and their homemade granola--then buy a bag of the granola to take home along with the recipient because it really is the best ever. John and Kathy have created one of the best B&Bs you'll ever visit and the location near shopping, lobster pounds, great parks, and unbelievable scenery make this a perfect place to get away.

Maine Trip

Stayed three nites. Our hosts were very friendly and informative. Breakfasts were great. Room on first floor was a little small, but otherwise fine.

Suggestions: 1. Put kleenex in the room.

Outstanding weekend in Kennebunk

Our welcome began before the weekend started with timely e-mails and thoughtful suggestions. Directions were clear and a call ahead alerted us to the fact the the hosts might be in a bit later than our arrival. A lovely room awaited us and we felt right at home. Thanks to Kathy and John for coffee on the spot followed by a superior breakfast both mornings of our stay.

Waldo Emerson Inn

Charming Inn

Charming inn just outside Kennebunkport(KBP). Actually it's the oldest home in KBP. Easy access from the highway, and 5 min to downtown KBP. John and Kathy are wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were fantastic.

Extremely outdated facility

The whole facility was very old and and outdated. There were cracks in the old windows. Very noisy. The window air-condition was very noisy, but we left it on so to mask out the traffic noise. The room smelled stuffy. And the bed was very uncomfortable.

Nice breakfast

The owners of this bed and breakfast were friendly enough, and the breakfast was great. We did not spend much time in the hotel, except for sleeping and eating the breakfast. The hostess did make it a point to let us know that it does not benefit the owners when a guest makes reservations through hotels.com, which made me wonder why they made the hotel available on hotels.com ?? The hotel was away from the main stream of business and there were no restaurants within walking distance. We had to pay a steep parking fee when we drove downtown Kennebunkport to eat and to see the sights.

It was a very magical experience! Very, very nice

Love the Inn it was very comfortable and Kathy and John were wonderful.
I usually stay at the 4 seasons and this by far was so much better.
A great personal life experience. A very clean, safe, and enjoyable experience.
The breakfasts were great!
