We have traveled all over Europe and stayed at some of the nicest hotels. This was by far the best. From the front desk, allowing us to check in several hours early and even a beautiful upgrade we couldn’t ask her more. The service around the entire hotel is perfect. The rooms are stunning. The backdrop, the view cannot even be described in photos. The breakfast was amazing. You can’t even finish the entire buffet in three or four days. They have an amazing mimosa bar as well as a bloody Mary bar. We had lunch at the beachfront restaurant and it was simply delightful. I don’t know what more I could say, but if you are headed to Cala Galdana, this is the only place to stay. It is worth every penny.

Lovely bright modern hotel in stunning setting overlooking a beautiful bay. We had a fab four days in this hotel couldn’t fault it. The staff were so lovely the hotel was very tastefully decorated and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We were upgraded to a seafront room with a glass balcony overlooking the beach and bay it was an added bonus waking up with that view every day. The area has some lovely restaurants within walking distance so easy to find places to eat if not full board. Highly recommend this place for a total rest. The only thing to be aware of is it is is not great for people who struggle with walking as the beach is down steps/slope with no lift.

The view from this hotel is otherworldly - with direct access to a spectacular beach (calm, shallow water, soft sand. The amenities and style of the hotel are nice and the rooms comfortable. It’s a resort hotel - not a boutique hotel - so the service, while plentiful, is also a bit impersonal. I’d recommend staying here for the location alone.

Great location with excellent clean rooms with nice decks and views. Gym was OK....and tough to park a car there on the street....limited parking...but otherwise a great hotel. LEVEL package was great with good breakfast everyday included and a nice infinity pool with no kids so great for couples. Highly recommend this resort for a relaxing few days of vacation!

This was a very expensive stay at what was described as a luxury hotel in a junior suite. It failed to meet our expectations. The room was a huge disappointment. The layout was poor, there were no views from the sofa or bed. Frankly the room was no more than a poor standard room in a standard hotel. The Level is a good concept but again it fell well short of the luxury standard advertised and expected. One restaurant closed. Remaining restaurant over-priced and little choice.

We enjoyed 4 nights at the Melia Cala Galdana early April. Had 2 fantastic weather days and 2 very windy, cooler days. It’s a perfect central spot to enjoy all of Menorca from. Beautiful Hotel, great food, beautiful bay/beach. Staff were so helpful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything was perfect. We stayed in one of the Junior Suites for 4 nights. Good size, lovely views just in front of Cala Galdana, and all the amenities we needed. The Level Lounge was a great addition to our stay; complimentary drinks and tapas until 6pm everyday, with soft drinks and coffee 24 hours.

Cape Nao has a good menu for dinner. The blind paella is delicious and the wine menu very good.

Cape Nao Beach Club is okay; no toilets, no smoking/vaping allowed, no music, no atmosphere.

Fabulous stay

Really lovely hotel. Bedroom very clean and bright. We had a premium room with seaview and the seaview is perfect! The breakfasts were probably the best we have ever had... so much choice, continually replenished so we didn't miss out on anything. Staff very efficient at cleaing away the tables and laying for new guests so never a queue for breakfast. We ate in both restaurants and couldn't fault the food. The only thing we didn't like very much (maybe because we are old!) was having to use the QR code to get any information - info on the hotel, info on the cost of the mini-bar etc. etc. The restaurants relented and gave us proper menus!

All in all we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.

Overall I would recommend.

Positives: (1) Location- the beach is absolutely perfect. Warm and clear water with no waves. Hotel is literally at the beach. (2) Room is clean. (3) There are 3 restaurants for dinner inside the hotel so plenty of options to choose from.

Negatives: (1) Room is VERY small. We could barely move around without bumping into the luggage. (2) The kids bed (extra bed) is extremely uncomfortable and not what you expect from a 5* hotel. (3) Staff was a hit and miss. Some were friendly but some others were clearly unhappy to be there. (4) Food room service is a joke. They told us it is available 24 hours but when we called they said they had run out of food!! There was absolutely nothing we could order apart from a glass of milk. (5) Swimming pool is nice but very small for a hotel that size. The infinity swimming pool is only available for adults and you need to pay extra to be in that area. They have some sort of VIP club. That sets the tone that the hotel is somewhat kids friendly but not completely. (6) As other reviewers have said, you need to pay for chaise longue at the beach. Not great. They charge € 20 a day. (7) Parking is paid for and very expensive. €35 a day. (8) There is no air conditioning on the buffet restaurant so be ready to have breakfast sweating every morning.

Beautiful location and a great hotel. Felt looked after. Great sea view room, robes included. You also got beach/pool towels which you could refresh as many times as you wanted.
Friendly staff. Great breakfast buffet. Pool area was fab too but spent a lot of time on the beach as the turquoise sea was irresistible!
Cala Galdana itself is a touristy resort, but has bus links so you can visit other areas.

This is an amazing hotel at even better location. I would not hesitate to stay here again and probably will pretty soon. There are, however, a few things that need to be pointed out. First one is food, it is just not good regardless of the price they would charge and here the price is pretty steep. Morning buffet is the only thing that saved the day, for dinner I would recommend little restaurants around the hotel. Like how in the world can a hotel of this caliber make such poorly executed food? I will never understand this… Second, the areas designated to Level guests are not clearly marked or separated so you may get an uncomfortable moment of being shooed away from the restaurant or pool area. Other than that the stay was relaxing and an unforgettable experience!

The Melia Cala Galdana is clean and contemporary, but its real wow factor is its location overlooking Cala Galdana, surely one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. The hotel itself is 'upside down' with the majority of the rooms built into the cliff face below the reception. Our room was simple yet elegant, with an outstanding bathroom, an incredible bed and sumptuous linen – it was perfect.

Things that are good:
Best Location. Quiet, near excellent beaches and...
The View, oh what a view.
Clean, well appointed, fresh, good fast service.

Very satisfied by excellent free child care. Isaac and Dario obviously enjoy their job. Great guys and so good with kids. They kept them busy and happy, both indoors with creative tasks and outdoors with games.
We will go again. Did I mention The View?

Things they do they could/should improve:
Climate control is not independent (hot or cold is selected centrally, you then choose temperature and fan)
Breakfast good but could be better for 5 star.
At times there was a line for breakfast, either not enough space or not enough staff.
Poor bed making (probably the plasticky matress protector is the culprit)
Room was ok for 2 but with the chair-bed open to make a bed for my daughter the passage towards the fridge and balcony was tricky.

Things they don't do but could/should do:
They should offer free parking and free umbrellas and beach chairs on the beach for hotel customers.
They have to make the beach more accessible to buggies and wheelchairs, the ramp is too steep and dangerous even for pedestrians, either make a new one with a more gentle slope or add a stairlift or something. This could also help Cape Nao's business.
Their Cape Nao restaurant has the potential to be the all day happy place - point of reference for the whole beach but it's expensive and inaccessible and therefore almost empty.

The location is beyond stunning, a perfect paradise. The hotel was very clean and new, staff were friendly and helpful and amenities were as expected. The only downside was our room, which was a side view room and quite cramped as a result. We could see the sea, so that wasnt a major issue, but the balcony was tiny and never got any sun - a bit disappointing for such an expensive trip.

Wow ... what can I say about Melia Hotel.
There is just too much positive feed back to give towards this outstanding hotel, staff members and also including everyone who made my partner and I feel like royalty. Firstly, the Melia hotel rooms are amazing. They all have baconys with beautiful views of the beach and the attractions near by. The rooms are romantic, clear and cosy. Every inch of the hotel is well thought out made to the best standard as possible. The food was amazing- so much effort and time that goes into feeding their guests is amazing. I must say the breakfast is amazing too. The presentation of the room was also fantastic .
Although the hotel is breath taking so is the attractions near by with shops, bars , restaurants and long walks to go on. There is so much to explore you wouldn’t believe it.
Overall , my boyfriend and I enjoyed our one year anniversary together and we couldn’t of asked for a better experience. We are so great full that we had the opportunity to stay in such a high rated hotel. Not a penny is wasted.

The hotel overlooks a magnificent Mediterranean Bay in Menorca. Our room had a full sea view, and it was great waking up to every morning.
You can choose to sit around the pool in a very large and private setting, with great sunbeds, or walk a few minutes to the sandy beach. The sea is calm, warm and shallow, so great for swimming.

Lovely hotel in a great location

You get a feeling of serenity and peace as you step in to the hotel, the lobby is so well done. The hotel facilities are very good and staff are attentive, polite and helpful. The choice of food is also great. The only issue we had was with noise in our bathroom from the constant flow of waste water in the pipes from the room above (we were on the 1st floor and perhaps all the drains empty somewhere there). The room was otherwise clean and comfortable. Overall it was a good stay. the location was also great

We booked Our room through Expedia and were given the worst room at the hotel, I was also told that the parking (20 Euros/day) was full. When I asked to change t a different room no rooms were available in our price range, then was moved up to a nicer room at a hefty increase in price. Now they also had parking. Other than that the hotel was great

Everything about this Hotel was very good other than the evening meals. You get plenty of choice and most of it is delicious. But we found most of the meat was overcooked and dry. Like the roast leg of lamb, barbecue ribs or any of the pre cooked meat. All the rice dishes in the paella dish served were very dry. So we ate mostly fish. The food is good but a little disappointing. Overall still a lovely Hotel

Perfect location near beautiful beaches

We traveled to all 4 Balearic Islands and Menorca was our favorite partially due to our stay at Melia Cala Galdana. The hotel staff was friendly, the room although small are well appointed with all necessary amenities. The breakfast buffet (included) was fantastic. They had vegetarian options like nuts, nuts and a variety of plant based milks. Also, their breads were fresh baked and delicious!
The fitness room was clean, well maintained and had a good variety of equipment- which worked. They fitness activities were nice and the staff was very friendly.
The beach at the hotel was beautiful as was the other ones which we hiked to about 40 mins away. We loved that one so much we went back the next day.
The island us small and not crowded so we were able to see the main city in the late afternoon/ evening.

We would definitely and will return as it was amazing but it would help both guest and staff alike if there was not such a language barrier and then booking mistakes etc would not occur. Overall great would go again. As it was my birthday for our time away, compliments of the hotel staff, they sent up a bottle of champagne to the room, which was a lovely surprise as I didn't tell anyone it was my birthday. Downside. We didn't know until we got there that the infinity pool deck is closed for parties or you have to pay to use it. Jacuzzi and sauna door was locked so couldn't use. Eating level are clearly stated what level they can be found at.

Picture shows the infinity pool at front of Hotel which looks lovely but you have to pay 30 euros a day to use it, so possibly another picture would be more honest. Overall lovely short break.

As title says. Breakfast is ok, nice views from the rooms. Close to the beach. Comfortable massive bed, free safe to use. Room was a bit too cramped.

Now the bad things. Bathroom - fluctuating water temperature in the shower, once cold or hot. Terrible layout if you want to use the toilet as you need to squeeze between shower and the door. You can hear anyone flashing the toilet above you as pipes are not sound proofed.

Cleaning team is slow - they tend to not spot that you put out please make up the room for far too long. Competitor Artem Audax is far superior on this front.

The hotel tries to be overly sophisticated and you are forced to listen to some rubbish lounge music all day long if you open the window. They have speakers in the garden which amplify the nuisance. Could do with cleaning the flags with the logo of the lounge from bird 'paintings'.

Not Spanish enough - everyone says everything in English first. A bit too sterile atmosphere for my liking - staff is polite but somehow it doesn't make feel you good and warmly welcomed.

We booked last minute for a 4 day break. Chose this hotel as it had good reviews on trip adviser and it did not disappoint. The hotel itself is tastefully decorated and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
The buffet style breakfast is the best we've ever had with all areas catered for as my husband and I are vegetarian. We ate out for lunch and tried the buffet dinner and hotel resturant for our evening meals which were equally as good as breakfast.
When we checked in the gentleman on the desk noticed on my passport it was my birthday the following day and sent champaign and strawberries to our room which was a lovely touch.

Very nice hotel.

Everything was really good. The only minor is for the customer service on the reception... Lack of information and patience with customers. Apart from that, excellent hotel to stay.

A week wishing we had known the hotel had changed hands and with it their standard. Melia cala galdana was, but is not now, melia Gavilanes Cala Galdana.

Recommend for older ppl and families. relaxing!

The hotel was great and right on a beautiful bay. Loved the atmosphere. The buffet had a variety of things but wasn't that great.

Just ok - a bit disappointing overall

Felt like the hotel was made for much a much, much older crowd. We only saw retired folks in the hotel.

The breakfast - not great. Tasteless breads, croissants, eggs.

There was a stench that filled the rooms - true, there was just a storm but the rooms smelled awful.

The beautiful Cala Galdana was turned brown after the storm. It would've been nice to upgrade to Level but when we booked we didn't know what the difference was at the time.

Good beach and safe swimming with lifeguards.

About 40 steps from from level 0 to the beach. Some guest smoked on the balcony,naughty. Only two lifts, of the four worked for the week, this gave problems for people with luggage. One guest flew a remote helicopter drone from his room's balcony and was taking pictures. It did not happen again. What do you expect now, a quite life? The beach was cleaned every morning by men with sacks however people smoked and just buried the cigarette buts in the sand. I did not see any stray animals. I did wonder if the yachts moored out in the bay had holding tanks.

Nicer than it looks

Very nice hotel. I thought the pictures online did not do it justice. Great location on the beach with a spectacular view. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The only downside is that there are not many remarkable restaurants in the area at night for dinner, mostly family restaurants that focus on quantity over quality or the hotel itself. There is also no breakfast options outside of the hotel itself. The beach is great and there are lots of options for kids too.

Pleasurable

The hotel was recently refurbished. Everything was new and fresh. The staff was really kindly and friendly. The breakfast was wonderful and with so many options. For us (we visited many different beaches), Cala Galdana was the best option comparing quality and convince. Our stay was very enjoyable.

The perfect stay !

I decided to stay in Menorca two more days and loved Melia Cala Galdana as soon as I saw it on Hotels.com. The Hotel is beautiful and the area is stunning so it was great overall. The hotel was very busy but that didn't make it chaotic at all. Service was great and all the staff were very helpful and professional.

4 star Superior - refurbished to a high standard

Last minute booking - have been to this hotel before, but was pleasantly surprised as it had been refurbished to a very high standard. Rooms were modern, bathroom had a walk in shower. Towels supplied for beach so no need to take extra, saving on luggage space.

Quiet break away

the hotel was being took over by a different company and so there was building work going on, the spa was closed as was the indoor pool. The air conditioning was set at 24 degrees and was worked by a sensor so only worked when moving around. hence night times were unbarable. The tempreture was 39 degrees in the afternoon the corriders were cooler than the room. However with moaning the engineer somehow switched the sensor off and we could turn down to 16 degrees. No keeping your room on over 12 noon, guest room available but again you could not book an allocated time to use it. We ended up in the toliets.

FANTASTIC. Really lovely hotel. The hotel has undergone a total refurbishment to a very high standard - 5*. The food was excellent. The best thing however, was the staff. They were so very friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay a most memorable experience. Thank You!

Great Hotel

We stayed in a junior suite on the level & were very impressed with the hotel overall. It was our first visit to the island & we would most definitely recommend it to anyone .We travelled as a couple but hope to return with the whole family as we feel it is a great place for kids & the location on the beach was perfect .

Lovely hotel perfect location overlooking the beach newly refurbished rooms clean comfortable and quiet great view from restaurant with excellent choice and standard of food staff friendly and helpful beach bar lovely place to cool off very lovely hotel wouldnt hesitate to stay again

Too large for excellent service

Room lovely refurb, but still going on in some parts of hotel. Front of house staff excellent but some in restaurant did not look happy to collect dishes. Female chief cooking to order lovely and helpful. Lifts seem to have a mind of their own and insufficient for busy times. We tried to enter lifts one night to be stopped twice by a rude guy in an orange T shirt or thought it was more important to get the trolley of towels in. Twice he stopped us entering and got in himself and was about to do it a third time when another member of staff who realised how shocked we were that he had been so rude to guests stopped him. Then last we saw was an unpleasant look as the doors closed. Not the image the hotel is trying to display. We had stayed had the Santa Thomas for 6 nights before, now that was truest a 4 star experience.

Lovely short break

My girlfriend and I stayed here at the end of the 2014 summer season and enjoyed our stay at the hotel thoroughly. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts where great. We are looking forward to going back again, for a longer stay, with the rest of the family.
