The hotel is catered for the Indian cohort and western food is optional. The stair cases are very slippery and I slipped down a staircase and the hotel placed towels at the top and bottom of the staircase to mitigate the safety issue. The hotel is surrounded by Indian restaurants and the local beach is a toilet so there is no swimming there.

We found the staff great and the pool was always quiet as nobody was in it but us.

The breakfast was delicious each morning and the room was very comfortable.
I would suggest that given OH&S standards, a canopy over the small paddling pool is needed for sun protection, especially children.

Buffet breakfast was nice, lots of variety. The outdoor pool and lounger area was great and clean. Unfortunately our room was damp and dingy, and the bidet hose water smelt like sewage. We also woke up The cocktails werent very tasty & the welcome drink was a shot glass size of juice. We did call the front desk to confirm that our room was correct as it seemed very different to the online pictures.

Worst stay!

It's often said that you get what you pay for, but this was a horrible stay compared to similar priced establishments we stayed at over several weeks... Instead of an escape to paradise, as advertised on their website, we could not wait to escape our 1 night stay. There are 2 pool umbrellas for 100+ rooms. The property lacks maintenance and it shows everywhere. Housekeeping barely scratched the surface when it comes to cleanliness. The room is freezing temperatures due to the air conditioner. The only things this resort has going for it is a decent breakfast, friendly staff and central location to escape

The Risada resort was excellent. Except the breakfast they should prolong at least till 10:30am. Even on New Year’s day they started closing up at 9:55am. They do not refill after 9:45am. Usually they would have run out of milk by that time. Very well maintained resort.

Pros: the grounds of the hotel are amazing, so well kept with beautiful gardens. All the staff were so lovely & always helpful too!
The beds were very comfortable & the airconditioners were cold.

Cons: the rooms are old and need some love. The overwhelming smell of mould/mildew was alarming & probably the only reason I wouldn’t return again.

First the positives -- the staff are super nice, my room was excellent (comfortable, spacious, and clean!). Great access to the airport and breakfast had tonnes of options! A really nice stay.

Gym needs a bit of a touch up -- and unfortunately Kuta has suffered a bit since the return from lockdown.

But, I'd stay here again -- and the staff were really nice and helpful!

Unfortunately our studio room had a smell from the drains in bathroom and upon opening our balcony door there was some sort of a sewage tank as our view.

My favourite place

Always love being at the Risata. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and I love the amount of gardens, even a vegetable garden. It is close to the beach where I love having a bbq corn cob and watch the sun go down. You can walk for kms along the path to Kuta and beyond passing lots of places to stop for food or drink and then walk back along the street where there are so many small shops and cafes. Just a step outside Risata are amazingly priced spas and cafes. Their breakfast is so good and keeps me going all day.

Hotel is in good location. Is quiet and very green. Walking distance to beaches and shopping. In my opinion breakfast should have more options, but was good enough. Service was good but staff almost every day was setting up our a/c on very low temperatures. Generally I recommend the hotel.

Well let me start by saying we loved this hotel...but its in major need of renos.
The first room we had was right on the pathway and very noisy till late and again in the a.m.
The doors were falling off in bathroom cabinets, the shower drain almost totally blocked, the shower just a dribble and the toilet seat was broken.
We asked for a quieter room (which I did when I booked) and we got a DARK room opposite the owners entrance with no garden view and a toilet that took 4 or more flushes to work...despite asking twice to fix it. It stunk as well...very disconcerting.
The pool bar was closed and if you got room or poolside service you had to pay cash!
Did see the timeshare people allowed to charge it to their room. I mean we stayed 2 weeks...its not like they didnt know us!
Breakfast is ok only. Very heavily Indian food...
Look the staff we could not fault...they were warm and friendly and helpful.
Its just so run down, and there's heaps better value closer to Kuta. Sorry to say but we wouldnt come back....even after 3 stays. We actually stayed in another hotel for 2 nights with a big pool and sumptuous breakfast for less dollars.
I hate to leave this review for this hotel but it needs serious work...

Our stay here wasn’t the greatest. Majority of the staff were not friendly and accommodating towards us. TV Chanel’s didn’t work, breakfast was very average not much variety at all, no shuttle to get into town, price went up on room service within 2 days and we were taxed which on the menu it said included, shower pressure was horrible, no soy milk or anything for lactose intolerance. Apart from all that the facilities our nice and pool is nice but a shame that the staff treat aussies different to the Indians. Wouldn’t recommend for a family with kids.

I am afraid that we were very disappointed with the menu offered for breakfast. As part of our stay package, breakfast was included however, to have anything other than was there we were charged. This was quite expensive after 10 days. We found that the menu catered for a specific culture and left all others out in the cold. Nothing on offer as has been in the past. We ended up going across the street for breakfast for variety. Very sad and may end our stays here after over 10 years.

WE only stayed here for 2 nights before heading back to Australia. It is in a good location. The beach is at the end of the road. Lots of shops in the street outside of the resort.

Decent if you want something close to the airport

Stayed in a deluxe room. Rooms are a standard expectation, nothing exciting but has everything you need. Bathroom is a bit run down and cramped. The bed is nice and big and there’s plenty of channels on the television. Staff is helpful at times.

Only complaint is that I wanted to stay an extra day, but the staff refuse to price match and I had to order on another website to get a better price. Also forced us to move rooms for the extra night which could have been easily avoided. That staff didn’t seem to care at the time.

Also my booking came with free massage for the price but you really have to ask before they will give you the vouchers. It’s not that great anyway you can get much better services just outside at a lower cost.

This hotel is full of greenery which is amazing, has a play ground and a swimming pool for children. If you request to have breakfast then they will call your room each morning if you have not turned up for breakfast - so depending on people this could be a good or not so good thing. The breakfast buffet has a lot of choice but it does not mean is amazing food. They have a children menu if you wish but you will need to ask for it. This hotel is 7 minutes walk from the beach but the beach is extremely dirty. Then you have a shopping center which is 10 minutes walk. Also note that if you wish to exchange money please please try to exchange it once you land in Bali at the airport, not only you get a better rate but you do not get cheated. So if you do choose to exchange money in those little off street guichet, you will notice they are 2 people 'serving' you one to distract you whilst the other exchange the money that they just counted for you so you leave thinking you have all your money but you will realise (if you do) that you are missing a fair amount. Always use your own phone to see how much you will get and then once you have counted the money few meter away from the guichet then leave if you have the correct otherwise enjoy having an interesting conversation. By the way the hotel is 15 minutes away from the airport by car and should not cost you more than 70,000 rupies. Have a great stay if you wish to stay in a busy place like Kuta.

The gardens at the Risata are very nice however I found that the rooms could have been cleaner. I also didn't like how they didn't tell me about the children's menu for a week until I was there. Have been staying here for years.. however this time.. cut out holiday short by 5 days as my 3 yr old daughter got sick..the water at this resort is smells like sewage and discusting and i will not be staying ever again. The aircons are filthy and can not be cleaned as they are boxed. No face washers and housekeeping never arrived clean room. Very disappointing

Worst hotel ever! Don't go there!

Very bad experience in this hotel ! I'm a backpacker, so I'm an easy person and used to travel, and this is the first time I had so bad experience. First of all, the receptionnish called Edy was not welcoming at all, very arrogant, when I checked in, he asked my passport, but he refused my ID. After picking it from the bottom of my bag, i gave it, then he asked the passport of my friend (never seen that in 10 years of travelling). Then even with my passport, he found the way to make mistakes on my first AND last name... and the worst came. I told him that I have booked this hotel because they offer free shuttle to the airport (1km away) and it's written in the description of the hotel. He said that I had to pay 100 000rp, while I had only 120 000 but need to eat the next day, and that I paid the room where it was written the the shuttle is FREE! He didn't trust me, so I showed him the description from hotels.com, but he didn't believe me! He asked me to send my confirmation, where it was written, so I did it, but even with this proof, he said that I had to pay. He was laughing in front of me while I was angry, and sure that I was right. I lost 30min for that, and I asked him to call hotels.com to have explanation, but he didn't want!! I said I will let bad review, and he said:do it ! Not PROFESSIONNAL AT ALL ! I had to walk with 30kg backpack under burning sun and 30 degrees. His name is EDY and I hope he will loose his job, what a huge shame to be treated like this!

Definitely NOT a four star hotel...

While the staff are friendly (as most Balinese people are) the hotel is definitely not a four star property... more like one or two stars. The so called 'deluxe' rooms are far from it.. with dirty, tiny, run down bathrooms. While the air conditioners work well and the pool is clean (but hardly any shade areas) the hotel was probably quite nice in 1985. It hasn't seen much work since then. The location is good, if don't mind a public beach with its associate garbage piles. The photos of this place definitely look better than it really is. What got to me was the treatment of guests by the hotel staff... i.e. we're not children and we do intend to pay our bill when checking out. The hotel doesn't trust the guests and demands a large deposit when checking in... so, guests have to basically 'prepay' for their estimated expenses... food, drink, massage, etc. I found this very annoying, as I like to eat and drink outside the hotel and I really don't know how much I'm actually going to spend at the property. You shouldn't have to 'guestimate' your costs and then prepay... as if you're going to run out without paying... I wouldn't stay at the this property again.

Good choice for first stop in Bali

Excellent hotel for a late night arrival as it is close to airport, comfortable and has a nice pool
