Clean room, most of the staff were great (Gabriella at Bellpine, Nico in the Club Lounge and Thomas are amazing and keeps us coming back). There were some female staff in the Lounge that were not very nice in regards to letting us take food and/or drinks to our room and told us that we are not allowed to do that? That was unpleasant and didn’t make sense to us when we saw others with to-go boxes taking food and beverage to their room. The amenities are wonderful though. Beautiful building and decor!

It was a great stay. The only thing I don't like is every single staff member kept asking me about my plans. What brings me to Portland? What have I done? What am I going to do? Etc. Etc. I do not like being asked about my plans, it's my business, and I don't want to discuss my plans with strangers.

This hotel is truly incredible. The spa and the pool was the highlight of my trip. The staff in the spa were so welcoming and friendly and Patrick was amazing! I had dinner at the Bellpine on the top floor and it was delicious. I recommend doing to the 7 course dinner it was so much fun trying new and different dishes. Overall will be back!

Expectations for The Ritz are high and there are some opportunities for refinement at this property. The property is lovely and well located and we had a very nice room and also a great spa experience but it still seemed to be working kinks out which was disappointing. Just a few tweaks would be helpful: 1) No greeters or concierge staff available during our stay; 2) Despite having do not disturb light on room received turn down service and then turn down service was not great - no additional water provided, no new towels; we had three people in the room - all on the reservation and still only two water glasses, two waters - just some of the details were missed; 3) Pool area not well cleaned and no available plastic water cups for use with water dispenser; 4) Would benefit from a little more diversity on the restaurant menu/opening the lobby bar area earlier for small plates/healthier lunch options. Again, love The Ritz but have very high expectations for service and amenities which unfortunately need a little work at this property.

We had a great stay overall, beautiful hotel, excellent valet service, and very friendly staff. However, we were disappointed with the pet accommodations. We notified the hotel in advance that we were bringing our dog, but no water bowl, treats, or welcome kit were provided, despite the $200 pet fee. There was also no designated pet relief area on-site or even nearby, which made things quite difficult. We’d suggest adding a small relief area and some basic amenities for pets to better justify the fee. Everything else was wonderful!

Errors made, charged for room when it had been pre-paid, advised and was told had been rectified, though transpired that had not and no follow up to request to send through correct folio. Guest services room service request had to be followed up when not actioned. Other guest was not added to the booking on check in meaning that only one robe in the room.

He went to drop off his bags with the bell desk first so that I wouldn’t have to take them down when I checked out. Bizarrely, they told him they couldn’t hold his bags until checkout, either because of policy or because the bellman wasn’t on duty yet. That’s an excuse that works fine at a four star hotel; but at a five star property, the staff would be more embarrassed at the thought of a guest having to trundle back upstairs with their bags after being turned away at the front desk. He also noted they didn’t seem sure he was a guest at first: indeed, none of the staff we interacted with after check-in addressed us by name or recognized us. Again, fine for a four star hotel, but illustrates what is lacking here in Portland’s first attempt at a five star property.
