We loved our stay here, and would definitely stay again if we're ever in need of a hotel in Portland. Free coffee machine in the lobby at all times. Free breakfast from 6:30-9:30 includes bagels, toast, english muffins, yogurt, fruit, juice, cold cereals. Friendly front desk staff. The room we stayed in was really comfortable, it had a full kitchen complete with a full sized fridge, oven, and dishwasher as well as dishes. Bathroom had a blow dryer, though I will say the blow dryer seemed a little old and sticky, but that's usually how it is with hotel blow dryers. Also a little tip - if you find the sink in the bathroom is slow to drain like we did, you can just remove the little filter/cover from the drain and it will drain much faster. Overall loved this hotel and we were sad to leave.

Room was clean and decor is very colorful. 2 queen beds and still plenty of room with the kitchenette! Loved the small loveseat and chair, dishwasher, amenities included. The continental breakfast was definitely more than the typical continental breakfast. There was always fresh fruit offered, yogurt, instant oatmeal, cereals, as well as all bread offerings, including bagels! Juices and coffee and very welcoming dining room! I would definitely come back for another stay at the Inn Northrup Station when visiting Portland!
Also…location is very convenient and the streetcar is great!

This was one of my favorite hotel stays. The room is cute and comfortable with an amazingly comfortable king bed. Staff was friendly and helpful and being able to actually park anywhere close to downtown was amazing. We rode the trolly (which was free with our room key) and did OMSI, the Portland art gallery and Powells. Perfect 3 days. Only suggestion is more variety at breakfast. Basically bagels, yogurt and granola bars. Next time we will just buy groceries and cook in the room kitchen which was a lovely addition to our stay.

Great place to stay, starting with the friendly staff when we checked in. The daily breakfast was basic but the continuous coffee bar was great. Every other day housekeeping was great. The hotel was quirky, clean and the room had everything needed for an extended stay. On site parking was a plus with a location close to numerous shops and restaurants. Definitely would stay here again.

Everything about our stay was fantastic! We were welcomed warmly and enjoyed the salt water taffy as an extra pop of color and sweet treat. :) Our room was perfect, with more amenities than we even had anticipated, and the breakfast was delicious -- with several gluten free options and fresh fruit! This is an excellent Portland choice for lodging, in charming NW Portland. Great shopping and restaurants in the area, and the streetcar makes all of downtown Portland easily accessible. Parking is included in the reservation. The rooms are well designed with every amenity.

**The worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.**
After falling asleep with the TV on—apparently a little louder than it should’ve been—we were **woken up at 3 AM by aggressive banging on the door** and told we were being kicked out. **No phone call. No warning. Just threats that they would call the cops.**

We’ve been using Hotels.com for over 14 years and have *never* had an issue anywhere. The cops showed up and literally put us out on the street in Portland at 3 AM with **no explanation** and **no refund** for the second night we didn’t stay.

The staff was extremely unpleasant and honestly looked like tweakers. Thankfully Hotels.com refunded us because we’re loyal customers, but the hotel itself refused to do anything.

If you’re planning a night out, **stay far away from this place.** The walls are paper thin and the staff is hostile and unprofessional. A simple phone call to tell us the TV was loud would have solved the whole situation.

It’s sad because the property *is* nice—we’ve stayed here multiple times for the same reason. But this experience was completely different, and after how we were treated, **we will never be back. I strongly recommend others reconsider staying here as well.**

The shower head pipe was broken, the place was not the cleanest, the tv was super old, the heater was super loud and kept blowing cold air then hot then cold even though only heat was on. Carpet had stains. Tub was not clean.

I stayed here for two nights in a king suite with the kitchenette. I was impressed at the size of the room, the balcony area, and the neighborhood. I really appreciated the parking availability. I feel like the property is showing signs of wear and aging and could be cleaner - the toilet in the bathroom seemed like it wasn’t cleaned around the seat and the room needs a good top-to-bottom dusting/ steam clean. One thing to be aware of is the trolley that runs semi frequently adjacent to the property that can be a little alarming the first couple times but then you get used to it. I found the location central and easy. I didn’t use the kitchenette and the breakfast left a lot to be desired but served the purpose. I wish they would get better coffee machines.

The Inn at Northrup Station is my favorite hotel. My husband and I have stayed there many times. The rooms are spacious with great floor plans: two queen beds, kitchenettes, and couches. I love the imaginative decor. And the neighborhood is great--many restaurants and interesting shops. Plus close proximity to forested urban parks with miles of trails.

Free parking and free breakfast is always appreciated. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and very kind. The decor in the room was cute and mid-century modern and everything was super clean. The only complaint is the fan would not go off in the bathroom and so it ran pretty much the entire time.. otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room is spacious with a stove and a refrigerator and the dishwasher and the bed was extremely comfortable. The area is very walkable to all types of shops and dining truly a magnificent location.

Decent price. Check in and check out was easy. Staff was friendly. Great location; close to streetcar stations and walking distance from food and shops. Streetcars are free with your stay!

The hotel is kept clean. The room was cleaner than most hotels I’ve stayed at. In the room, the kitchen appliances and kitchenware were up to date.

I appreciate their complimentary hot coffee machine and salt water taffy in the lobby. Breakfast options were good for complimentary (cereal, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs, cheese, oatmeal, granola bars).

Only downfalls were that the floors are extremely creaky. Every morning I could hear the people walking around upstairs (very early). The pillows were too soft making it hard to get comfortable every night. Balcony didn’t have chairs.

Safe Parking. Rooms clean and decorated in a fun quirky way. I love the kitchen area. It had everything we needed for our stay. It was great that we could heat up leftovers and lounge in our room for a break. I will definitely be back and recommend to our friends. We had an incident in which the Internet was not working and the hotel staff helped up correct an issue in our phone that improved Internet quality. Brilliant customer service and not to mention free. salt water taffy if you need a sweet treat.

We rented two rooms for 4 of us. One room had a kitchenette and one had a full kitchen. Both were very comfortable and clean.
There was a wonderful market and our favorite restaurant nearby, just a short walk away. The streetcar stop was right outside the hotel. Rooftop lounge was pleasant when weather allowed. Overall, a great place to stay!

We liked our staff at this hotel. It was great to have a kitchen as we were on a 10 day road trip and didn’t want to eat out every meal. The area felt safe and having parking was an added bonus. The person in room above us had very heavy foot steps but thankfully they weren’t up too late.

Northrup Station, a Unique Experience in NW PDX

Northrup Station is a sort of funky hotel in a great location--Northwest Portland, near the many shops, restaurants and other attractions of NW 21st and 23rd Avenues. And, as the name indicates, it is at the 21st avenue stop of the Portland light rail system, which is very convenient for getting around inner Portland. The rooms were very spacious and well appointed with comfortable chairs and a couch. A very nice breakfast is included but the coffee offered is NOT good. The hotel wears its funkiness and alternative nature proudly, but it is a bit run down, although very clear and well maintained. Free parking is another perk.

We had an amazing experience at the Inn at Northrup Station, here are some of our Pros:

1) Super friendly staff from start to end. Helpful with recommendations from transportations services around the area to local cuisines.

2) NS Tram stop outside hotel. We used the NS tram to visit Powell's book store, the Portland market, various breweries, and others. Safe and easy, it also saved us on parking fees.

3) Our room had kitchen a kitchen, great for families to reheat and store food.

4) Ample fruits and water in the lobby, saving us cost on water purchases and snacked on a variety of local fruits. Keeping our colons, fresh and easy.

5) Free breakfast, I must profess, I did not partake in the continental breakfast here. There are too many delicious eateries around the area that I had to save the real estate for. But it is great to have the option available.

6. Staff accommodated out late check out request until 1:00pm, giving us a leisure morning to get ready for our afternoon flight.

Con (we had only ONE con):

A) Parking is free, but parking is tight, On this crowded labor day weekend, we came back late and discovered no parking. Staff allowed us to park in the baggage unloading spot, which is nice. Be forewarned, if coming back late in the evening, parking may be an issue.

Conclusion:

We had a stupendous stay at the Inn at Northrup Station. From checkin to checkout, 5 stars services. We highly recommend this hotel. Happy adventure.

Nice alternative to downtown

Love, love, love! The decor is so fun. Room was spacious, clean and colorful. Best bed we’ve slept in during our two week 11 hotel trip. Nice breakfast. So glad we ended our Oregon adventure with such a nice place to stay!

Our visit was absolutely delightful. The mid-century modern theme is whimsical, fun and immersive. We walked to dinner and breakfast, and enjoyed the walk as much as the meals. It's a charming neighborhood - very clean, safe and friendly. The staff were fabulous. We will definitely be back.

A very nice boutique hotel. The location is fantastic. Short walk to nice shopping and restaurants on 23 Street. Trolly stops right in front of the hotel and gives free, safe transportation to downtown Portland. The staff are very nice.

Decor was very nice. I reserved via a third party site and did not get the accommodations that I was certain I signed up for. The property staff was not helpful with this issue. I was willing to pay for an upgrade without question. Neither the property staff nor the third party staff were very helpful. I also felt that the bathrooms were below standard and needed to be upgraded. I personally do not like liquid soap and that was all that was available. The breakfast area was very crowded and not set up to encourage good traffic flow. The third flow outdoor space needed more shaded areas.

Rooms large, slightly dated. We were on the first floor and faced the parking lot. We did not get a lot of sun so the room was dark. The other side of the property has larger windows and balconies. I suspect that is the better side to be on.

My wife and I liked the funky retro style decor and atmosphere of the hotel. Having a complete kitchen in our room made it easy to prepare meals so we would not have to eat at restaurants all the time. Also having close access to the train made it easy to navigate the downtown area. Even though the train could be quite loud when it went by the hotel, it did not disturb us while we were sleeping.

One small improvement to the room would be a full length mirror outside of the bathroom.

All in all, this was a great property, and my wife an I would stay here when we visit Portland again

Really fun, quirky stay in Portland. Great to have such a good size room with a little kitchen/living area. It was in a really nice area to walk around with a couple of grocery stores and restaurants. It took a little bit more effort to get into the centre of Portland but it was still okay. Great to have free parking and plenty of it. Only shame was having people's footsteps above us waking me up throughout the night but apart from that it was a great stay.
