Unfortunately there was no hot water for over 24 hrs plus. I moved to the sole room in the groundfloor with a bit of water and not for long. Problem was with a pump. These things cannot happen in a 5 star hotel with matching price.

The location is wonderful, right in the middle of a high-end shopping district. The hotel has great amenities and the staff went out of their way to make the stay perfect. The bathroom was gorgeous...we stayed in a junior suite. The breakfast was remarkable. A lovely, full-blown spread in a beautiful indoor/outdoor space. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the bed was way too firm. It must be a common complaint because they immediately offered a pillow-top that housekeeping put on. But I understand they will be getting new beds this month--Aug 2019--so that may not be an issue anymore. The other thing was only slanted ceiling windows in the suite...no side windows...which I prefer. But they do have some rooms with regular side wall windows.
Because they are partners with the Principal Hotel, they have a van which we got to take advantage of on one occasion. And again, the staff went out of their way to make the stay right...we changed rooms twice!

The location is simply unbeatable. Beautiful property, large modern rooms. But it was the service which made it stand out. An example: as I was checking out, inenquired where to ship a large number of musical instruments, to England (!). The staff immediately offered to do it for me.

We visited as a family for 3 days around Christmas time. We had a fantastic time in Madrid. The hotel is great. The rooms are large, very well appointed, with lot's of light and quiet. The common rooms of the hotel are very comfortable, never very busy, and great for a short burst of work (if needed). The staff is remarkably helpful and always with a smile. The gym is at the basement -- very functional, but not crowded.
The hotel is situated in the Salamanca area, a great part of the city, with many shops, restaurants, cafes in close walking distance; and the museums in 15min walk away. The hotel is on a quiet street, so it is not affected by the activity one block away.
Overall a great experience, both as a family and as a couple.

Amazed that a 5 star Relais and Chateau hotel has no one to greet you upon arrival.
My 78 year old husband and I had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs to the lobby ourselves only to find one person at reception who couldn't acknowledge us until he finished a very lengthy telephone call.
Our room was very small but the king bed was very comfortable.
The hotel lobby was very nice compared to the room floors with dodgy and dark corridors.
The concierge gave us a great local restaurant suggestion.
Expected to sit in the garden after coming home from dinner but the tables were littered with bottles and the restaurant was closed.
Smart area with luxury shops and nice streets to stroll.

From the moment i arrived i knew i was in for a real treat. As a global business executive I am privileged to stay in many great hotels around the world and particularly enjoy small local luxury hotels if possible. Unico is on of the best i have experienced. the staff was amazingly attentive, almost like luxury Tokyo, but left you alone in just the right way. the common space is really well appointed and the rooms sheer decadence.
I also loved the location. it is nestled in the best neighborhood of Madrid and is in easy walking distance to the best restaurants, shopping and the museum district. it is a guaranteed good place to stay.

The staff is marvelous specially the front desk person during 12-ish o'clock. He is very personable. I e-mailed earlier before arrival to request for a recommendation where to spend the New Year's Eve celebration. Promptly got an answer complete with menu and prices . Requested again for a walking distant venue (same), got an answer with approximate number of minutes.
We want to try the 2 star restaurant of the hotel but was unable to because it was fully booked. The front desk tried to squeeze as in~ still no table! We have to make a reservation to this restaurant the moment we book the hotel again. Staying with Unico was definitely a delightful experience.

Wonderful hotel with exceptional service
We loved the Unico. Wonderful service, intimate scale, beautiful design, great location. Everyone was so kind and helpful with our very active toddler, and the garden was great for him to run around in. We thought the room was a tiny bit small for a deluxe king, and we would have loved to get into the restaurant, but it only has 6 tables and was booked weeks ahead. We wish we had known to book a table as soon as we booked the room. But these are very minor complaints. The Unico is a truly fantastic hotel!

A Lovely Hotel in the Middle of Salamanca
We chose this hotel based on the description in Expedia and its location. It was within walking distance from the Prado and Park Retiro while lying in the finest shopping district in the city with quiet, tree-lined streets, but just blocks away from the action. Besides the shopping, Salamanca offers wonderful restaurants and breakfast places. That being said, there is a terrific restaurant right in the hotel.
Everything about the hotel was A-1. There were snacks available all day in one of the two lovely lounges, the staff was very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. If (when) we return to Madrid we would be happy to stay at the hotel Unico again.

My son and I enjoyed the luxury appointments of this hotel. Unlike a similar hotel hotel in Seville with a significantly lower overall cost, the service was somewhat less. During check out it is noted that a female guest complained that her room was 85 degrees due to a broken air conditioner.

Gem of a boutique hotel with a Michelin one star restaurant and a lovely garden located in one of Madrid's up market neighbourhoods. Rooms are clean and functional and service is friendly. Love the complimentary jamon mini sandwiches served at lunch in the lounge. Given the standard of the hotel, management should consider investing in better mattresses and offering a more extensive room service menu and wine list. These are relatively minor issues however and food wise there are many options within a 5 minute walk from the hotel including the Gourmet Club at the nearby El Corte Ingles.

This hotel is so unique and makes you feel special the moment you arrive. It's located in a neighborhood with lots of beautiful boutiques, high end fashion shops, restaurants and bars. You really can't go wrong! The design is very nice and also includes a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Highly recommended!

- The closets are located in the entrance hallway (good) but the doors hit one against the other making it difficult to use

The location is great. The Hotel is indeed a small luxury hotel, but nor the service nor the facilites pays of for the price per night. We found it extremely expensive for what you get. The Unico Hotel lived up to the reviews and my expectations. I usually look for more economical hotels, but decided to splurge, and needless to say it was worth every penny. The staff and lobby are very welcoming and they had snacks and drinks readily available as we checked in. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The Goya metro spot is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The neighborhood is pretty sleepy after hours, but it is definitely safe and peaceful.

The perfect location for shoppers
This lovely modern hotel is located in the Salamanca district of Madrid. That means the museums (Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza) are either a long walk or a cab ride away. But there are dozens of boutiques -- mostly local brands on the small streets, The Usual Global Suspects on the major thoroughfares -- right outside your door. An excellent gourmet food and wine shop is across the street, and nearby you'll find a branch of Joselito, who make the best Iberico ham in the country.
Unusually for a boutique hotel there is a library, a sitting room, and a beautiful garden where you can relax and add up the bills from all that shopping.
The rooms are reasonably spacious, with good bathroom facilities. The rooms on the top floors have slanted ceilings (which I don't like) with skylights (which I do). A high-tech shuttering system ensures a good night's sleep.
The two-starred restaurant will be getting a third star before long. It's outstanding, relaxed, accommodating, and highly recommended. Breakfast in the garden is also a treat.
The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly, perhaps the best we encountered in Spain.

Great hotel and great neighborhood
This is a fantastic hotel and a great deal. We had booked a hotel on Gran Via and it was terrible and were able to get this great hotel for the same price. It was a whole world of difference. The service is excellent and the neighborhood is amazing. I highly recommend this hotel.

A stylish hotel in a great part of madrid. The staff were very helpful and genuinely interested in helping. The hotel room was spotless snd decorated in an elegant chic style. The rooms have blue ray players and a selection of DVDs if you wanted to borrow them.
The hotel is in the sleek shopping district with plenty of great restaurants and very close by.
We walked everywhere from the hotel. The retiro park is a 10 minute walk away and the museum del Prado about 20 mins away so you are close to everything but not smack bang in the middle which we quite liked.

I chose this hotel because I like the style and quaint charm boutique hotels offer. Unico Madrid was perfectly located, I loved walking around the area near the hotel, lots of boutique shops. The staff were extremely helpful. I apologize for not remembering names. Everyone was very friendly and helped me and my brother arrange dinners, tours, and even last minute reservations for New Year's Eve. The only complaint that I have is the wi-fi service. Literally, I've been all around the world in some very remote third world countries with better wi-fi than here. If wi-fi is not something you care about, this is the perfect hotel. However, my brother and I were extremely disappointed with the lack of consistent and efficient wi-fi access.

Remodeled in a modern design, and located in a nice residential area surrounded by shops and boutiques. The hotel is very clean, great service and offers breakfast buffet for $ 26€ Per person. I thought that was steep. There is a nice cafe next door for very reasonable prices. The main attractions are a short cab ride away. The only drawback is that you hear people in the hallways if they are talking or slamming the doors.
