beautiful foyer as you walk in, rooms sufficient, but could have done with a kettle, pool area like sardines & pool freezing, beds rock hard, food not so great as tendency to not stay hot under bain Marie. Umbrellas round pool not secured, so when windy, 1 hit me on the back of my head and back......were offered free dining at buffet that night to make up for the whack.

Saw ABBA Universe show...started off a bit shabby, but actually warmed up and was half decent.

Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Dining was a bit of an experience.....very busy. Cold buffet good, loads of choices...just disappointed with hot food as not so hot. Nice breads and pastries. Lifts were very quick.

Beach is a 5 min walk across the road and under subway.....(sand is a bit harsh - big grains).

The overall hotel experience was good and we couldn’t fault the staff. However, the bed sheets didn’t appear to be changed that often and I had to request clean towels as we were still using the same ones after 4 days. The breakfast & dinner buffets were good with lots of variety too. We probably would return and hope the room issues are rectified to improve the overall experience.

Our family had an amazing time at Aqua Hotel Onabrava & Spa! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how friendly and welcoming the staff were. The entire hotel was spotless and well-maintained, giving it a fresh and relaxing resort feel. The beach was gorgeous and very close to the hotel.

The location was super convenient for everything we needed, and we loved how easy it was to unwind and enjoy the amenities. The breakfast was a highlight – delicious, fresh, and with a wide variety to please everyone in the family. Other meals were good too, but breakfast really stood out.

Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. We would definitely go again and highly recommend it to families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay on the coast!

We had 4 rooms as attending wedding locally.
More basic than the “so called” 4 star implies! Staff initially unhelpful though manager stepped in during working hours when I complained, and at least compensated for iron
Issues included :
- you have to give a deposit of €20 for iron - cash! If no cash you get charged 3% plus £5 for cash machine! Iron and board were cheap and nasty.
- no tea or coffee or water in room
- they allow smoking on balconies and so can’t leave patio doors to balcony open as stinks of smoke (and weed a lot of the time)
- no aircon for month of April as not cold enough apparently - though we were very hot - especially as couldn’t leave doors to balcony open
- alarm kept us awake for hours one night - someone was smoking in room! Not surprise when they let smokers use balconies!
- buffet breakfast and dinner was mediocre in quality and choice

I initially selected this hotel based on its advertisement of a heated swimming pool. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the “heated pool” was actually a hot tub that required an additional fee, as did access to the gym and indoor pool. Furthermore, guests were charged each time they exited and re-entered the facility, even if only stepping away briefly.

I had booked a double twin room for four people, expecting adequate sleeping arrangements, but was only provided one bed per room. This created a significant inconvenience, especially for the children in our group who had to share beds. I even offered to pay for an upgrade, but was informed this was not possible—despite the hotel appearing to be largely unoccupied and multiple requests being made.

Additionally, during our stay, the outdoor pool was too cold to use and the beach was not accessible. The quality of the food was disappointing, and I found the front desk staff to be unhelpful and at times discourteous. The rooms themselves were quite small, and the air conditioning was not operational during the spring, which I was told is typical as it’s only turned on during summer months.

To make matters worse, there was a guest smoking cigars on our floor, which filled the hallway with smoke and caused discomfort for my children, who suffer from asthma. This ultimately led us to check out three days early and continue our trip in the city of Barcelona.

Expedia did not help with my complaints!

Good overall, quiet hotel and nice staff. Very close to the train station. We got a full board, which included free food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, drinks including water, were not included for lunch and dinner, which we found disappointing especially that water required a fee. Breakfast however had a good selection of free coffee, tea, juices, and water.

We stayed in March which is obviously offseason. Not even third of hotels on Riviera are open. Credits to AQUA Hotels for being open.
Our stay was pleasant. Room on the 4th floor was nice and had a balcony facing beach sideways.
I imagine during months of July-August with all nearby hotels open - area gets busy. Not sure this would be my first choice during summer months. I guess it would depend on rate competitiveness.

If you hate paying 8 Euros per day for hotel parking, you can park for free on the street between hotel and beach.
We did not use train, but station near hotel makes it really easy to visit surrounding area (including Barcelona). Breakfast in hotel was very good.
Did not have a chance to see any \"entertainment program\" in hotel. Star time of 22:00 (10 PM) is quite ridiculous in my opinion.

And if I may suggest to management of hotel to somehow regulates noise in the pool area, after midnight. People hanging around have no awareness or sense that guests in rooms are sleeping.

This is a lovely hotel. It is very clean with great facilities. The staff are most helpful and the entertainment is excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and the food excellent with a huge choice at every meal. We always choose to stay here when visiting the area because we consider it to be the best in Santa Susanna.

After a very active holidays in France in August we were looking for a short, lazy break in October. Hotel Aqua Onabrava & Spa was a perfect choice - we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean, pools area very tidy, rooms spacious and quite modern, all staff friendly and helpful. Food was very good. For the 5 days we stayed - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner - every day good selection of food and desserts. Kids really enjoyed the pick and mix sweets after meals. Me and my husband went to SPA twice over our stay and had a really nice relaxing time there, SPA wasn't overcrowded which was a big bonus. We really liked the location - beach is 5 minutes walk and its also very very clean, water amazingly clear. Over all - a great holiday in the great hotel 😊

Excellent hotel, excellent service especially from the lady at the front Rafaelle...

It was alright the hotel was very clean, modern and food decent and well presented with plenty to choose from. Hotel staff friendly and helpful.

Only things it fell down on are the fact the hotel was mostly Russians it didn’t really suggest who the majority of hotel was booked by but it is mostly Russian.

Also the surrounding area in Santa Susana is very unclean, dirty beaches, litter and generally not very nice place although they said people were friendly enough and no problems at all.

Lots of construction work going on which is actually good to see as atleast they are trying.

I can imagine a lot of it is much better in summer months.
Good easy rail link info Barcelona and I was visit g formula one pre season testing so got train to Barcelona then another at el clot to Montmelo which took about 1:30 and trains rub regularly back and easy to purchase.

Staff weren’t very happy - when we would smile we were greeted with a straight face.
We had a room next to the elevator (room 110). It was quite noisy.
Some sort of red substance came out of the shower head on the first use.
The room was very humid and we would wake up with condensation on the windows.
The gym was very old - no one cleaned the equipment, there was rust on the barbells.
The spa wasn’t very hygienic - there was lots of skin like residue in the steam room.
I don’t understand why you charge for the spa and gym - especially when it isn’t very good.
The food didn’t accommodate those who were vegetarian, vegan or only ate halal or kosher. Pretty much the same menus every day.
There was a man in the kitchen who was very nice and he made us a vegetarian pizza - by far the nicest member of staff.
There was no coffee maker in the rooms - nothing in the mini fridge.

We previously stayed at the Summus Hotel and Spa in Pineda Del La Mer - it was much better in my honest opinion.

We asked for shuttle to airport which they said they did not have then they gave us directions to and intenary for bus but we got their there was no bus and then they told us take train by the time the explained this to us the train departed we had to pay 150euros extra for no fault of our own this is ridiculous

Another fantastic break at the Onabrava Hotel

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and rate it very highly. The rooms are large, very clean and well equipped. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. There is plenty to see and do in the local area.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in This part of the Costa Brava.

People rushing to put their towels on sun-loungers at 8am was a bit ridiculous. Some of those sun-loungers had towels on all day without anyone using them.

Close to shops ,beach, station to get a train to Barcelona. Food was great, many choices.
Went half board and not even water was included with the evening meal. So ended up spending lots of money to buy drinks to go with the meals. Room was above the entertainment area and was very loud up to 12 am. Asked to be moved but they had no rooms available. Check in is a long confusing process with Katy. Asking for Expedia voucher (?), taking a long time to scan all passports including children’s. Asked for a double and two singles - unavailable, asked to be on the same floor level as family - unavailable. Also ended up in what it seems like a noisiest room. Also overcharged for City tax charging for one child also..
Spa charges for spa ,towel and swimming hat .. becomes a pricy venture..
Overall a nice hotel though...

Great Spa facilities onsite of the hotel with a gym, 8Euros a day. Sauna, steam room , jacuzzi and hot pool available.

Location was excellent, staff extremely helpful, rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. Breakfast had plenty of choices. My only complaint was having to pay for the indoor pool, if you were using the spa facilities for a few hours then eight euros each was a good price but I only wished to use the indoor pool for a quick swim every day, so I didn’t use it at all - my choice but I was disappointed as I wasn’t aware you had to pay. Small gripe in an otherwise good stay.

Overall was ok. Hotel has a parking with 6 Euros fee for full day, I thought that the spa access would be included but wasn’t it was extra 8 Euros. We got upgraded which was nice. I like the open bathroom design very modern but walls were slim and could hear neighbors. The restaurant waiters were not very nice but the dinner buffet was great.

It was a good hotel, nice stuff and a good clean room and very very delicious food!!!!. Recommend to book Premium because rooms having a different remodeling. Standard room looked more disappointed.
Also, the only thing that I would like to mention is charge for water during lunch and dinner time. Cost of water is 2 euro per a small bottle, less that quarter. So, that charge for water was weird and very high and hotel doesnt not mention this aspect while you are booking full board services.
We booked full board services for food and it was a big surprise that we should pay for water.

Nice clean, spacious room. Good range of food at all mealtimes. Lots of choice and very tasty.

Enjoyed the sparkling wine at breakfast time!!

Pool was busy most days and there was the usual issue of getting out early to reserve sunbeds.

Good location for using the train to see other local beaches.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here twice before with no problems. However it was different this time, and there was no loyalty or recognition that we were returning customers. Unfortunately there were very smelly drains in the bathroom of the room we were given, we were late arrivals so clearly we were given one of the worst rooms, it smelt awful. So the night porter moved us at 1.30am in morning. Later we were told we would have to move again (as the room was needed for other guests), back to the previous smelly room, by a receptionist who was unfriendly and difficult when we complained, so we had to really stand firm and insist several times on staying in the new room, as we didn't want upheaval of moving room again. Also we had checked and the smell remained in the room, despite being told it had gone, there was something clearly amiss in the hidden plumbing, as it was very clean to look at. It is apparent to us as independent travellers with Expedia, that the hotel reception staff seem to care far more about the groups of guests who come with large tour operators, as a comment was made about our replacement room being needed as part of a large group booking. Our bed was very uncomfortable and hard this time, and the pillows were squashed flat and old, also uncomfortable. Overall OK for the price - just, but did not feel valued. Nb: Barcelona airport to Santa Susanna is far, so transfers take ages and are expensive, the distance is a downside, getting to and from the airport is a stressful.

Some good, some bad.

On arrival our room was133 - awful room, worst hotel room I have ever seen. We also had no towels!! Or kettle or water in the fridge. Not 4 star standard. I had asked when booking for a nice room as this trip was for my birthday. We eventually got a new room 2 days later, but we had to pay for an upgrade (£5pppn) for our remaining 3 nights. The room we were given was 436 - and it was lovely! Pool and sea view- a million times better than our last room. reception staff and waiting staff were lovely. There is a tall man in the restaurant who you pay your money to for drinks, he is beyond rude!! Food was ok, lots of choice. Hotel entertainment was really really bad!! I think we lasted about 2 minutes before returning to our room. On my birthday, the hotel didn’t acknowledge this at, which I was really disappointed about. I always go away for my birthday and every single hotel has made an effort on my birthday, whether that be a card, wine, upgrade or spa voucher .. anything! But nothing here. I’m not sure i’d return. We also went to the F1 and Barcelona for the day - both worth a visit.

Started badly as they expected our 13yo boy and 9yo girl to sleep in a double bed but all was sorted quickly and it was a nice relaxing stay. The entertainments team were excellent and that makes it a great family hotel with lots of actovities every day. A lovely outside pool and a fabulous spa area and indoor pool. Great local restaurants nearby. Travel from the airport by train or coach is simple and affordable. Great value for money. Beach is a bit stony at waters edge but no shortage of beaches if you want it more shallow and sandy.

Relaxing break in Santa Susanna

Beautiful hotel with lovely facilities like gym and spa. We had a fab family room overlooking the pool. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel has parking facilities which was great. The food was really good buffet style with great variety of everything from fresh juices to a huge selection of meats breads cereals croissants fruit etc. Dinners equally good. Only criticism is that they allowed people to leave their towels on the pool sun loungers all day from early morning. Whole families taking 10-13 loungers in one go for their kids and kids didn't occupy them at all since they spent all day in the water. The Caletes beach is very nearby and really nice. The night entertainment was great. We saw a Village People tribute band and was great fun.

The staff are brilliant and helpful. The room was very clean as was the hotel. Amazing entertainments staff with lots of different activities keeping kids and adults happy.
Only issue was having a room on the first floor. One of our rooms was over the music room and so all the entertainment could be heard every night it was on through the floor. If you need a quiet room then it is best to request one when booking. Lovely hotel

Always able to get a sunbed when we were there.

My daughter is Coeliac. They were helpful with gluten free options except for breakfasts. The website suggests a variety of things would be available but we couldn't get any of the 'nice' things - croissants, chocolate bread, etc. If these aren't available at all hotels, please don't show this on the coeliac list as she was very disappointed.

the hotel is very nice, i had a lovely big room on the 2nd floor. hotel staff are nice (restaurant and reception). problem with most hotels here is getting to the beach is a mission as you have to walk a lot to find the passage that runs under the train tracks and once you get to the beach . you have to pay 6eur for a sun lounge and another 6eur for an umbrella. food at restaurant is very good and there is also a large variety, but the restaurant doesn't even provide a bottle of water without charge (we had full board)

Spent 3 days in February here - the hotel was a wonderful surprise extremely clean , decor plush, stayed on a full board basis - they literally had every kind of food - amazing salad and dessert bar - freshly cook meats, fish and seafood - soups, pasta, pizza, chips and vegetables, fruit - large selection of cheese and breads - excellent location to beach, resort and train station - indoor swimming pool although you had to pay - couldn't fault it would definitely recommend

We had transfer from girona airport which was great, taken from Expedia website for 20 euros round-trip. Excellent food, we had breakfast and dinner with lots of choices of food and very well coocked. Excellent spa - 7 euros a day for spa, but very nice pool with salted water plus 2 saunas and 4 different jacuzzi. We had free wireless in rooms top floor with excellent speed and sea view.
Transfer to PortAventura, transfer to Barcelona matches, lots of activities to chose from, 50 metres bike rental center, lots of restaurants around the city, near by shopping center, with carrefour and a few clothes shop, 10 minutes walk.
Train station with direct connection to Sagrada Famillia in 200 m distance from the hotel.
We went in mid October so we didn't use the outdoor pool as the water was to cold for us, not for the Norwegians though.
Air con in the rooms, everyday cleaning.
Table tennis and pool tables, plus others.
Excelent choice.
Only think I could suggest is to change the pillows with more soft ones.

We'd booked a premier room and were a bit disappointed as there was no kettle to have tea and coffee and the bed and pillow were very hard. The hotel was good but the food was average - very poor on vegetables and the only non sweet cereal were cornflakes.

Aqua Hotel Onabrava & Spa

I visited this week with my family and we had a lovely time at this hotel.

The lobby was lovely and the check in process was very smooth. The room was spacious and our balcony had a pool view which was really nice. Sadly, the weather wasn't very nice when we visited, so we didn't get to go in the outdoor pool, however we did get to use the spa facilities which were fabulous! We did have to pay an additional charge of 7€ to use the spa, but it was worth every cent!

Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot to do in the local area (the rain didn't help!), but there is a train station across the road from the hotel, which runs services to other destinations along the coast and into Barcelona.

We booked to stay half board and the food was absolutely delicious! There was so much choice available, so even fussy eaters would be happy :)

There only things that prevented me from scoring this hotel as a 5 are that the wifi was a little patchy at times and I wasn't impressed with the hire cost for the safe (4€ per night or 18€ for a week plus a 10€ deposit). The safe cost just seemed a bit steep to me.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Aqua Hotel Onabrava, as we had a fabulous time! I'm already missing having my glass of cava for breakfast. I'd love to visit the other hotels within the Aqua Hotel chain too.

Great location

Overall a great stay. Weather was not that great so we could not use the outdoor pool and have to pay to use the indoor pool, which is not that great. But fantastic location , walk to - train station, to the beach, to hire a bike, to the supermarket (carefour).
Food was ok for us since only vegetarian, so limited options. But so would be the case in any hotel I guess.
Night entertainment was quite good (atleast one of the nights from the 3 nights we stayed). Kids enjoyed this. Also kids club was there but we did not use it. Reception people very helpful to find local information. They found information for the local flamenco show and boat trip to Tossa de Mar for us and gave us very good directions.

Excellent Hotel in every way

Second time we have stayed and generally have found the hotel to be excellent. Location is convenient, food of a high standard and the staff are friendly and helpful. The whole hotel environment is comfortable - fresh, clean and spacious. Our room this time was directly located above the entertainment bar and was noisy when acts were performing - hence the room comfort low rating. We had two early nights of disturbance, although very loud, it only lasted for an hour. I am sure we could have moved rooms if we had asked but did not fancy the hassle. Hope to stay there again in the near future but will avoid the rooms on the first floor opposite the reception area above the Music Bar.

Lovely hotel but no wifi!

Location was great, just an hour from Barcelona airport on the coastal train for just under €5 each way. Nice resort. Hotel was lovely - clean, friendly, good outdoor pool and friendly staff. Food really stood out - great selection every night and morning - couldn't fault that at all.
My only negatives were lack of free wifi in public areas (we were told it was available, but once you were logged in there was no service at all, just a signal) and you had to pay to have it in your room, which didn't suit us. We had a whole week of trips planned to go to Girona, Figueres, Barcelona etc and hoped to do our research and book tickets on the internet while we were in the hotel. Instead we had to leave to go to a bar down the road for a wi fi signal. Disappointed with that. Also you had to pay €6 to use the gym which was too much really when you are a guest of the hotel. Otherwise it was a lovely stay

Lovely hotel, great staff and great location

Hotel is situated a 5 minute walk from the beach. You can easily get the train up the coast to a nicer beach (sandier sand!) at Malgrat de Mar or into Barcelona.
Great hotel for families with kids. The staff are great and really friendly and hardworking. The evening entertainment was good fun, we normally don't go to it, but we went every night. We did half board, the food was plentiful and very flavourful, catered for all tastes and dietary needs. T
Only things to improve are the WIFI and information on arrival. The free wifi in the lobby is awful, you can hardly load a webpage and you need a separate code for each device. We bought wifi in the end, but it's still one code per device. You have to disconnect to connect a different device. In this day and age I think this should be improved. When we arrived, we weren't given any info (e.g map of the area, activities in the hotel, timing for entertainment), over the course of the week we figured it all out.
We had a great stay, the restaurant staff, bar staff and animation staff were fantastic.

Pleasant family holiday

Good,clean family friendly hotel. Good value for money. Can be a bit cramped by the pool (sunbeds gone by 9.30). Wifi slow (but you're on holiday people!). Animation team friendly and not in your face. Buffet food fine, some 'interesting' dishes but could always find something to eat. Do have occasional outside evening entertainment (2/3 times a week) noisy if you have a poolview room and want an early night(done by 11-11.30)

The food was fantastic, lovely reception area and pool nice. All was very clean, staff very helpful. Fortunately the hotel is situated on the edge of the main resort, which was not our thing, but the actual hotel was quiet and very comfortable. Very close to beach, which was not crowded.

Thoroughly enjoyed stay in hotel. Room very clean and staff very helpful. Food choice was excellent and plenty of it. Nightly entertainment of decent quality. I had a late flight home and was allowed to hold on to room until 6pm for 40eur which I thought very reasonable. Only drawback was public wifi service.Also could do with irons in rooms. Overall would return to hotel if staying in area again.

Costa Brava and Barcelona

A mini break with my girlfriend. A nice hotel, room with a pool view, good food for the price and good staff. The resort isn't the most exciting but it has a nice beach (5 minutes walk) and enough to keep you busy at night - the hotel does have entertainment - it wasn't too bad too. The railway station is literally 100m away but not intrusive. Spanish Railways are cheap and very efficient, running to Barcelona every half hour (just over an hour away on our, stopping at most resorts, train), all for less than £4 on way. The train serves all the local resorts and is a great way to go visiting. We also stayed over in Barcelona before flying out. The underground is very good and cheap too. Buy a multi journey ticket, which can be shared - you buy a number of journeys - so pass the card back and use two on the same trip. Overall this was a good break and this hotel was a good base to either totally relax by the pool or on the beach or to visit the Costa Brava and Barcelona.

Nice hotel in Santa Susanna, good location.

The hotel was one of, if not the nicest in Santa Susanna. It had a great gym, which was important for us. The staff were very attentive, but I think they should get more reception staff, or possibly having them working more efficiently as sometimes service was a little slow. Otherwise a great stay and I will definitely go again next year.

I paid £150 for 4 nights for me & my daughter & thought I got my money's worth. The hotel is very nice and I think 4 * for Spanish hotel is accurate!
Lots for breakie, couldn't think of anything you could of wanted that wasn't there. I didn't like the resort very much but the hotel is nice

Good off-season deal

We went in late February, reason is I wanted to watch the Formula One winter testing north of Barcelona. Wife and kids (7 and 8) stayed at the hotel during that day. Nice beach nearby. We took the half-board option (breakfast and dinner).

Pleasant hotel at the quiet end of Santa Susanna.

Everything about this hotel was good. Not very good, but better than adequate. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The room was fine. Nothing fancy but had everything needed. The bathroom was clean and the shower was functional and powerful and there was always plenty of hot water. The bed was a little firm for me personally, but not too uncomfortable.
Breakfast buffet was extensive and acceptable. Nothing was particularly amazing but there was plenty of choice and it was run efficiently.

Lovely Hotel, Friendly Staff

We stayed 5/9 - 8/9/2014. Arrived around 4pm at the hotel, staff were friendly, quick and efficient. Everything was explained, how the food service works etc and we were asked if we wanted help with our bags. Our room was on the 5th floor, ample size for 2 with a large wardrobe. Bathroom with bath and shower over. Decent sized Balcony and a little fridge. You have to pay extra to use the safe (I think this should be included as it is most other places I've stayed) There is aircon but no info on how to use it, we found it on our 2nd day! The food is nice, a few strange choices (veal etc) but fine on the whole. There is a little on site shop where you get 5L of water for 2 Euros, would definitely recommend this as one small bottle Is nearly the same price at the hotel bar! They also sell snacks etc. The train station is opposite and a bus stop up to Malgrat.
On our 2nd night I developed Gastroenteritis, It's not fair to say it was anything to do with the hotel food as my husband had been ill before we left home, Could have been a coincidence. Asked the hotel to send a DR and they did.
Our transfers weren't until after our checkout time (normally 10am, we asked to extend until 12 which wasn't a problem) we were also able to leave our bags, free of charge in the luggage room after our checkout.
There is entertainment from 10-4 poolside and in the evening, very fun and worth joining in on.
All in all we had a lovely time and the staff were very friendly & happy to help :)
