Stayed at Hibiscus Lodge Jan 31–Feb 2 for a family event (7 rooms total). Most staff were kind and respectful, but one front-desk employee (no name tag) completely ruined our experience.
At checkout we were told to “go sit down and wait” while rooms were searched for missing items. Her tone was rude and condescending. This checkout process took 45 minutes out of our day. We were told a towel was missing and we’d be charged $3,500 JMD. I asked three times how much it would cost because I just wanted to pay and leave. Each time she dismissively said “I’m on the phone” while on her personal cell phone.
I asked her if they searched the room and was told yes, everywhere, and the towel could not be found. I went to the room myself with my niece again I asked the housekeeper if she searched the whole room she said yes, my niece went into the bathroom and found the towel hanging on the towel rack. The housekeeper then apologized and said it was a mistake.
This felt like an attempted scam.
Back at the front desk, the same woman refused to give me the refund receipt even though I paid for the rooms, saying she got the key from my nephew so she would only give it to him. I had to take the receipt myself.
Despite this woman’s and housekeepers deplorable conduct, the view was beautiful, but being falsely accused of missing items. I strongly believe guests are being targeted during checkout in a scam.
Would not recommend based on front-desk conduct and checkout practices.

This is a lovely little hotel, which is in the middle of Ocho Rios so it is easy to get around to everything. The staff is accommodating when notified of problems, such as no water pressure or temperature control in the shower. As every place on the island, it has been affected by the hurricane and they are doing the most to accommodate you while accommodating for weather as well. The restaurant had OK food. Very similar to any other hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the two days we were there was in the middle of a cold front in Jamaica (yes, there are cold fronts in Jamaica and evidently it is usually in February who knew.!) so we didn’t enjoy facilities like the pool or the ocean or the snorkeling as the seas were very rough the rain was consistent and it was 61°F. The area around the hotel is easy to walk through, but really unless you are grabbing something to eat there is no reason to. It is a busy island working environment and quite dirty. If your intention is to stay in a place that is safe and cozy with great views this is definitely your place though a resort it is not.

Also had a chance to meet the owner who was on site and he was a joy to talk to. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for an alternative to the big watered down gaudy all inclusives.

Staff was friendly and helpful . The property needs some maintenance. I one room the shower mixer was faulty, making it difficult to get a steady stream of warm water. It was either too hot or too cold. The offferings at breakfast was the same each of the 5 days spent there. The fruit was a minimal sliver of water melon, half a slice of pinapple and a peg of grapefruit. The main dishes were always teh same. At dinner the service was painfully slow , and worse if there was even a 1/2 capacity.

Loved this stay. We scheduled last minute and very much appreciated the clean room and the view from our window. We had the privilege of meeting the owner and and I believe the manager of the restaurant and we appreciated their welcoming spirit. The next time we stay we will explore the snorkeling right at the foot of the property. Initially the staff was not as friendly but we attributed it to the fact that they just recently opened after Melissa. We are already planning a return trip

Gorgeous view and a short drive to Dunn’s river falls, but the property is located in a very run down and noisy neighborhood. The condition of the property should be a two star, compared to another three star B&B we stayed in Montego Bay. Shower was cold in the morning, on both days.

After a travel mishap and required overnight stay in Ochos Rios, Hibiscus Lodge was a welcoming hotel with an easy check-in process. The views are beautiful and the bar drinks were great during the quick stay.

Ac leaked water all over the first room and my boyfriend clothing was caught up in the leak. However, the hotel workers were amazing in accommodating us by washing and drying his clothes. They upgraded us to a Jr suit but it was a water issue in the bathroom but we managed. The breakfast is the same daily so not a lot of options. I appreciate the kindness of the staff. They were very excellent.

This property is my favorite hotel in the Ocho Rios area. It is laid back offering a chill vibe. Clean rooms, great breakfast included, nice staff and awesome views with the upper level rooms. On Sundays you can hear singing from a church that is close by...just sets a wonderful tone with this beautiful island.

Our stay happened to fall during Hurricane Melissa. Prior to the storm, the room was clean, and the towels and sheets were freshly changed. We understood that during a crisis things wouldn’t operate as usual, but by the following day a skeleton staff had returned to duty. It’s a small, family-run establishment that felt homely, and the staff were friendly and approachable throughout our stay.

My stay was okay overall, but I did have one major issue. I booked a room meant for three people, but the bathroom only had two bath towels and two hand towels — no washcloths at all. When I went to the front desk to ask for one, I was told that the type of room I booked doesn’t include washcloths. That honestly makes no sense to me. The room has a shower, so how is it that washcloths aren’t provided? What kind of room do I need to book just to get a basic item like that? Never again

Everything is perfect to be honest but they don't mention or try to advise the guest regarding the club behind the hotel with music every day until 4:00 am. It would have been perfect to inform in advance since it shouldn't be a surprise for the hotel and if they want to raise the level, some earplugs, jejeje

I found this hotel to be very beautiful. The location is gorgeous, overlooking the azure and glistening waters of the Caribbean sea. Housekeeping was on point and the staff at check-in were very helpful in getting us situated and answering our questions. I appreciated the free breakfast each morning, although the portion sizes were quite small. The only other thing that could've made my stay better would have been access to the beach, but the property does boast a pool and hottub.

Had the MOST AMAZING stay at this property. The staff are so kind, check in was a breeze, our room was clean and bright, and the location/views cannot be beat. Highly highly recommend Hibiscus Lodge. My boyfriend and I stayed in multiple hotels during our trip to Jamaica (including more expensive ones) and this one ended up being our uncontested favourite.

If you're looking for a place that is conveniently located to the local shops and Mahogany Beach well this is it. Our room was located on the 2nd floor and the view of the ocean from the balcony was so beautiful. We brought our own washcloths and housekeeping washed them for us every morning and returned them back to our room. The breakfast was complimentary and so delicious. I wanted Jamaican homestyle dishes and the chef did not disappoint. Also, the pastries and bread are made on the property, we purchased a loaf to take back home with us. The staff was very courteous, helpful, and pleasant. If you don't mind some loud music from the locals at night or if you're here on Sunday you can here the church service and gospel music from the church across the street. Even those things made my experience that much more real. The garden was nice and perfect place to take pictures. The parrot did not want take photos lol. The tunnel entrance to their manmade beach was so cool especially if you go at night, but that \"beach\" was for people who just want to sunbathe. If you want the full beach experience walk down the street and spend the 500JAMD, (a little over $3USD) to enjoy the beach. The pool and hot tub was a nice addition and made for a cool way to relax after a hot day. Beach towels are available at the front office.

Would NOT recommend this hotel. The most uncomfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on in my life!! Combined with music from the hotels events and bar next door until 5 am made for a bad stay. The rooms are outdated and need refreshing. Also, housekeeping entered my room unannounced unnecessarily two separate times which made me worry about the security of my valuables. Lastly, there’s no beach access at this resort. The rest of the hotel staff were unmotivated to assist with 2 front desk staff just rude. The plus…the hotel grounds are well maintained and views of the Caribbean ocean from the resort are stunning. The restaurant and bar served tasty food and drinks.

The view and property grounds is so beautiful. There are multiple well maintained very tropical feel gardens in all open spaces on the property. Beautiful views of the ocean from the rooms and outside. The place is a picture haven just ready to be photographed. The rooms are basic and a bit outdated but clean and comfortable. Breakfast service is very good with multiple choices and great wait staff. I was extremely surprised and very satisfied with my stay here. I would recommend to anyone if you can get past the noise from the surrounding community which is very local.

For the price, Hibiscus Lodge was as expected. The front desk staff could have had better customer service. Beautiful view, well maintained property, and staff was friendly/welcoming. Had just the right balance of quality and local vibe (not touristy). Not the biggest room, but they maximized the space perfectly, so that you didn't feel claustrophobic and didn't have a lot of unnecessary open space in the room serving no purpose. The verandah in the front of the room overlooking the sea was awe inspiring (if that daybed was bigger; I would have slept out there). Also props to the carpenter; as the woodwork throughout was on point. Great stay. Thank you for your hospitality.
