I had a fantastic stay at Baobab Beach Resort & Spa. The location on Diani Beach is stunning, with white sand and clear water. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the all-inclusive food and drinks were excellent. The pools were clean, the rooms comfortable, and the whole atmosphere was relaxing. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a great beach holiday in Kenya.

Please do not waste your time at this property. The manager Patrick is nasty and doesn't care about travelers only about money. Charles is another manager that doesn't care about guests. I flew into the wrong airport and learned that this resort was 8 hours away. I spoke to the manager several times prior to this trip and he never mentioned this. I explained my situation to him, he said he would try to help me and ny husband on a partial refund but lied. After several attempts Patrick and Charles refused to help us by refunding some of our money. We had no where to go and we were stuck in another country with a room. The property refused to refund some of our money. The property does seem beautiful, but things to happen. The Management team showed no empathy or compassion. They don't care about guests there, they are all about the money. They are liars and will charge an additional fee for everything. Please pick another resort that really cares about the guests well being. Please pass on this resort, you will thank me later.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay. The food was good but a bit repetitive. Most of the staff was very kind. The property was beautifully maintained and the same goes with the pools. The evening entertainment was fantastic 👌! The monkeys will steal everything that they want though if you aren't very careful.

I wanted to enjoy the resort however I was utterly disappointed with the service at the hotel from the check in. When we arrived the check in was chaotic. We were told to sit down off to the side not near the main lobby and wait. After about 45+ minutes of waiting and other travelers that were off European and Asian descent were being served that had arrived after us we were shocked we are African American. We went to the main counter and it was utter chaos. Phones rings, no welcome drink or welcome fresh towel was passed to us but again was passed to other guests that were other descent minus us. We waited an additional 10 minutes and was handed the key. We were not given an overview of the hotel, times for dinner or anything. Upon being taken to the room it was the wrong room we requested twin beds and was given a double. We were asked if they could put another bed in the room that already had a double. We walked back down to reception. We informed them no as that’s not what we requested. We went back to the lobby and waited another 10 minutes and was told the room would be ready in 3 hours. Very odd as it’s a massive resort and they were not at capacity. So in the meantime we asked about getting lunch as we had traveled and not eaten all day. We were told that lunch is served at specific times and go to the snack bar. I will give them that they did make an effort to accommodate and prepare something. The room was ready three hours later. Beautiful all inclusive resort on Diani Beach, about an hour drive from Mombasa International Airport. I had the sea facing Deluxe Room which was absolutely beautiful and spacious. A shuttle is available for a fee to pick you up or drop off at airport. Days have low tide so you can walk on the beach. Resort has Pullman Tours office that can book off base excursions as well as book a snorkeling trip to the sand bar during low tide. I recommend the Mombasa city tour as they take you to the Akamba Market that has 2500 wood carving artists that sell their crafts at excellent prices and most of the money goes directly to the artist. Meals include buffets with food and desserts from around the world. Egg stations available in the morning for scrambles/omelettes and pasta stations at lunch/dinner as well as many other foods. Gym available for a daily fee. Recommend getting a massage at the Spa! Rooms are seaside so you hear ocean roar while receiving an amazing massage. Resort offers several pools- one of which is an adults only. Overall amazing stay. Would stay again- highly recommend!

They have a silly policy about pool towels and a token they provide without briefing you about it. Then try and bill you extra upon check-out. This ruined my otherwise okay experience. Would not recommend as there are better options along the same road.

This was our third visit to The Baobab, and we thoroughly enjoyed our week there. The only drawback for us is that the dining choices were very heavy on Indian and local cuisine with not many other options. Still, we were always able to find something we liked and would definitely plan to visit again.

Nice resort in a beauty location

The resort is beautiful and the setting is fantastic. The beach is beautiful as are the various pool areas. The room was good, clean and comfortable. The food was just ok, what you would expect at a buffet. The service was ok overall. Great in the restaurants and other staff but the front desk service was lacking, they weren’t very friendly or helpful, giving out some conflicting information. Overall though I recommend the resort, it was a very nice relaxing stay.

SCAM: BEWARE: Ripped me off on accommodation cost

SCAM: BEWARE.
The hotel scammed me on payment for accommodation BEWARE! I booked through hotels.com and had an agreement in USD to pay on arrival at hotel. They originally charged in USD but to wrong card. When they put on the new card they charged in KEN shillings. This was a fe more GBP than if they USD but I thought ok as they said it covered the full amount for the accommodation plus $18 for shuttle transfer (same as usd payment made against initial card). On check-out 11 days later I saw they had charged extra for accommodation and asked why? Went back after an hour and said the manager wasn’t available yet. When we had to leave they just told me the manager confirmed it was correct and I had to pay and manager not available again! Spoke to manager via chat after I left and he said they made a mistake on initial payment and used wrong exchange rate - i explained they actually used the wrong exchange rate but have not heard back and has been over a week now. Clearly a SCAM or they would have resolved quickly. Overall this has cost me approx £50 extra through their “mistake”

Excellent hotel and the staff have top quality customer service . Lovely pools, amazing beach views, unlimited drinks and wildlife !

This is literally a place you would see on the TV and say I would love to go there.

There are some huge renovations going on at the hotel and it did not mention this on the booking which normally I would leave a negative feedback for but due to the vast size of the place it will not affect your stay in anyway apart from the late night restaurant which is usuallly opened till 12 being closed.

Also check out the watersports at baobao at the Freetyme water-sports counter, those guys were fantastic and I highly recommend this resort to anyone.

My husband. snd I spent 4 nights at Baobab in February 2024 and had a wonderful experience. our room was comfortable, air conditioned and had a nice view.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The infinity pool was great and the activities ppl enthusiastic without being annoying. Water aerobics was really fun to watch.
The buffet is great. plenty of selections. However the private dining restaurants were awesome. we had dinner at the sane one twice because the food was top notch.
Great place!

The drive from Mombassa took 2 hours due yo traffic and time of day so be prepared fir that. Going back it took 30 minutes

Not enough \"simple\" meal options, e.g. often basic potatoes are spiced up as a lot of other food. No good if you don't like spices and herbs.
Staff were brilliant; helpful, freindly, other than on reception who made no eye contact or \"jambo\" if you were waiting and certainly didn't come across as happy.

Staff is excellent: personable, polite, helpful, engaging. Nicely done! We would have liked to see a small table between lounge chairs under the umbrellas as there was no place to put a drink or other items. Also, would have appreciated waiters to come around occasionally and offer drinks.

This was our third stay at Boabab and it won’t be our last. It’s at the far end of Diani but still accessible to the local shops with a tuk tuk.

The hotel is a wonderful relaxing place to stay. The restaurant staff and housekeepers were very friendly and helpful. Sadly the front desk staff were not so helpful, for example, having said we could use a room to shower before leaving, when the time came we were bluntly told it wasn't available. Their general unhelpful attitude left an unpleasant taste at the end of what was otherwise a lovely stay at the hotel.

Stayed here with the family. Rooms are a little tired but have enough space. Staff were all generally friendly and helpful. Quite a few people got sick during our stay. Staff were reluctant to let us take food back to the rooms while we looked after sick children. They also ran out of some food during the evening buffet. Facilities are ok with a range of pools. Beach is amazing.

This Resort is very good value for money particularly with the all inclusiveness. Lovely ambience and good beach access. Loveliest beach sand. Bathrooms are old and need refurbishment to give an amazing rain shower experience with good water pressure.

The pools where beautiful. However they close to early.
The food was good, but buffet for every meal?
They served the same food for every meal.
The towels was like using 80 grit sandpaper to dry yourdelf off.
After dinner, there is not alot of night life

I had to pay for the stay after 10 am
After check out 30 USD/ person but they told the lie for sure because everyone have to check out 10 am , where the 100-1000 people goes weekly after check out who have afternoon flight?
Are they standing outside?
Management said to me they are waiting in the lobby, without food and drinks, it was an other lie because just half hour before an other staff said they can’t monitor if the guest eating something so everyone have to pay even if they are only in the lobby .
My flight was 8.30 pm from Mombasa So i paid for me
And for my son

We not gonna coming back soon , Instead we go to Dubai as last two times , we get comfort and luxury and good food very friendly staff Kenya became greedy , they are lying and the staff nasty

Location was very good and the room had a good view of the infinity pool and was close to everything. Cleanliness, food and wait staff were also very good, helpful and friendly. There were people constantly cleaning the grounds, rooms, etc. Promotion of this hotel in North America would be very beneficial.

I thought the front desk personnel could be more proactive, helpful and engaging. Lucy at Kole Kole was wonderful and very willing to assist. It was hard to get a proper email response regarding airport transfer from Mombasa Airport. I had to resort to phoning from Nairobi.

Had a great time at the hotel. Food was good, drinks plentiful. There was entertainment during the day and in the evenings. The pools are lovely and there are enough pool loungers for everyone to get a spot. The only thing I had a problem with was the air conditioning not functioning properly despite having reported it. It did not cool the room adequately, was noisy and leaked water all over the room floor. Other than that I was happy. There is an airport not far from the hotel, rather fly from Nairobi direct to this airport than go through Mombasa as you will need to take a ferry if coming from MIA and depending on traffic can hold you up in the heat. I would certainly go back one day.

We stayed for a week after a safari. The hotel is in a lovely spot overlooking an amazing stretch of beach and is great for a relaxing stay. There are actually three different hotels in one complex so you can use pools and restaurants from all of them. We only used the Baobab and Maridadi facilities but there is a third option too. Service was great, there is plenty of choice in the restaurants and several bars. I used the gym as well as running the beach and also the spa which was lovely. Everything was clean and well-maintained and the room was comfy.

Loved the mature trees and gardens around the properties. Beautiful beach. Warm and pleasant staff. Great food choices. Evening Animation wasn’t to my taste, however they worked hard and were an amazing team that was eager to entertain. I liked that the the hotel was spread across 3 properties. Our teenage son enjoyed the activities offered. Good value .

The hotel accommodation is dated, the towels and bedding is of a poor quality and rather than being white are yellow in colour. The baobab and kole
Kole are separate and the communal facilities are in poor condition especially in the Baobab and extending into the Kole kole reception. Check out at 10AM means that you have vacate the resort at 10AM! Failure to do so means that you’ll be charged an extra 3000 shillings each. Never experienced a more unaccommodating hotel. We stayed in a suite - not worth it, and don’t book the odd number room - you barley have an ocean view. Needs updating and training in actually hospitality. Won’t be going back and won’t recommend. Excellent entertainment staff and food was good overall.

Poor service from management. Tried to charge double rates for shuttle service - recommend using Uber. After messing up our transfer offered us lunch for 6,000ksh! 10am check out time is ridiculously early. Will not be back.

Great Location, very nice room, liked the pools

With the upgraded room, this was a totally different experience compared to the night before. Only the Wi-Fi not working in or around the rooms, also problem in public area as reception and so forth. Great room, great location of building, good swimming pools and food, was good but again drinks in small glasses and cakes in small portions, but overall great.

The view from the hotel is the best. There is nothing else that beats the vast white sand of Diani Beach. Lots of beds everywhere to sit overlooking the Indian Ocean. Our room was lovely with an ocean view.
The staff were extremely heloful and friendly.
The food was good - not fabulous but OK for all-inclusive.

Food for thought!

The hotel and the room were clean and the quality of service was very good. Bur the WI FI was horrible and neither was the Tusker beer on the tap was useless. It tasted like drinking cold water. The Pizza and chips by the poolside was much better the food in the restaurant. The vegetarian food was worth 2 stars. The same similar crap each night. Karela curry on Italian Night!!

Best hotel on Diani beach

The hotel is fantastic and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It is well maintained and the way that the 4 room chalets are dotted around the grounds gives it a lovely spacious feel. The food was excellent and there was always a great selection of fruits and salads to cater for anyones taste. Even the house wine was very palatable. There is a quiet pool where noisy people are soon quietened by the pool attendant or another pool that features water aerobics and water polo for those preferring a more lively setting.
