I heard this was a \"budget\" Resort, but we have stayed at much higher end resorts and this blew them out of the water! Excellent staff, many great restaurants to choose from, the bike excursion to town was excellent. Zero complaints about anything at this Resort. Teens were entertained and loved it. Would absolutely NOT go to the 90 minute presentation for their travel club unless genuinely interested. It was way longer than 90 minutesand wasted half our day.

Food at the French restaurant actually made me sick that night. over all food was not good. been to this resort before was very disappointed this time.

The staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed our stay immensely.
We paid a lot of money for an upgraded room and though we loved the room, the cleaning service only came once while we were there (we did have a privacy please for 3 of the 7 days).
We were probably the most disappointed with the wifi access. The service was spotty and we were only allowed to connect two devices during the stay despite having purchased the trip for 4 people. I couldn't even update my kindle unless I paid 25 usd for 24hrs of access. And then on the last day - they cut off our wifi as soon as we checked out even though we had the rest of the day before our flight.
the food was incredible - something for everyone! Only issue was that we couldn't always find which restaurant was serving the buffet :). but we found it an it was amazing!
The evening entertainment was very good - and very enjoyable for all audiences!
OH - about the beach - they have some barriers in place to help break up the waves... but we missed the waves and being able to swim in the ocean - something my kids were really looking forward to!

We had an amazing stay! Our room was at Ventus Ha which was new, modern and very clean. The grounds are beautiful and we were able to enjoy pools at all 3 resorts. Dinner reservations were difficult to make however. If we had known that we would have upgraded to Platinum. Otherwise the food was fantastic, staff were friendly, we will definitely be back!

The main pool was great for the kids, there is a cliff jump and a slide, volleyball and water polo nets. Our kids had a great time. The rooms were clean and the property was very well maintained. I would return!

Poolside seating nearly non existent after 7am.
Had a seat for my wife and I, and after leaving our things on the seats and running back to the room for swapping out shoes for flip flips, we came back to find our seats has been given away since we left them “unattended” even though the six seats to the left had no people at them all morning, and the four on the other side were also unattended. If you are going to enforce a “no reserved seats” policy, do it to everyone not just two people out of 50+. Especially after we paid extra for your pathetic “platinum club”.

The swordfish at the Italian restaurant was the best fish of my life.

A lot of walking to get to the different pools/restaurants on the resort. Wish there were better signs for getting around. It took me awhile to find the “short cuts.” There are employees that will drive you around on golf carts but then I feel obligated to tip every time.
They need a better system of making reservations for restaurants. It’s almost impossible to get a reservation for any day of your stay, even when reserving as soon as you check in. The reservations we did get were at 9 and 9:30 at night. No way I want to eat dinner that late.

If there was an option of a resort app, I did not know. It would have been nice to have an app to use as a map or make reservations.
You have to pay for WiFi beyond two devices. I paid an extra $120 so everyone in my party could use phones for apps, etc. Data did not work well at all, and we had Tmobile. Paying for WiFi is a huge reason I wouldn’t return with my entire family of 6.
Be prepared to get up early in the morning to save a pool chair at the main “party pool” if you want to be near all the action. Signs state no saving chairs, but no one listens. The other pools on the resort were much quieter and easier to get chairs.
The food options were actually great and tasted good, considering it is an all inclusive resort. I was very very impressed!
The rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable. The Murphy bed is very comfortable, surprisingly.
I definitely would return, but only as a party of two.

This was our second visit to the resort and this time around we brought our nine-year-old daughter. The resort and amenities were all there, but we did notice a decline in the customer service and willingness to go a little bit above and beyond the recreation and entertainment staff were amazing but the weight staff and bartenders didn’t seem too keen on providing exceptional service. It’s undecided whether we will be back or not.

It was great and we really liked the property. The food was good and the staff was wonderful. There are 2 things that really took away from all the good things- 1) they charge you ridiculous prices to use he internet. If you have 5 devices it’s $50 per day and your resort fee doesn’t count toward this and the WiFi is terrible. Make it free like every resort this side of 2020. 2) the restaurants were great but the lines to eat at the buffet at peak were ridiculous. Way too long, sometimes 30-60 mins and that’s not good when you have hungry kids. Reservations at the restaurants were very hard to get.

We have stayed at many “all inclusive” resorts in the Mexican QRoo area and the Caribbean Islands. The El Sid resort has consistently exceeded our expectations; we have been there 6 times. The cleanliness, the food, the service and the people all have been 5 star. The only negative we have ever experienced was attending their time share pitch. They offer expensive promotions for a ninety minute presentation. While the promotional program may seem like a viable trade for 90 minutes of time, it’s not! The meeting is VERY high pressure and last and minimum of 5 frustrating hours. Unless you really want to invest in a vacation plan, it is not worth it…no matter what the offer. IMO

We were pleasantly surprised at how fantastic the Marina El Cid was. Our room had a king bed and a great walk-in shower. The balcony was nice overlooking the middle of the resort with pool and ocean in the background. The service and food and drink was just fantastic. We saw a lot of reviews about food quality at OTHER resorts, and it was a deterrent. We were able to make 1 dinner reservation prior to arrival and then made more when we arrived. I would encourage you to do it right after check in because places fill up fast. Being able to use the amenities at all 3 places was another nice perk. There were nightly shows after dinner which was fun. We also tried the paddleboards, kyacks and the bike tour into Puerto Morelos. We would definitely go back. The only negative I can think of is the \"Expedia daily resort credits\". They ask you to listen to their Vacation Club presentation in order to use them, I think. They had no more time slots available during our stay so did not go. No one ever mentioned the credits too us or explained how we could use them.

We absolutely loved this resort! This was our second visit, and it continues to impress us with all the amazing amenities. One of our favourite things is having access to four different resorts, all within walking distance, each offering something unique. We tend to prefer Ventus or the Marina because they’re oceanfront, but the other two properties are newer and just as beautiful.
Our kids had a blast at the Marina pool, especially jumping off the big rock in the center. Even when the main pool area is lively, the kids mostly stay on the rock, so it still feels relaxing for the adults. The foam party is another highlight—so much fun and always a hit with the kids.
The beach isn’t the best, but the resort staff does an excellent job clearing the seaweed every morning. For meals, Delores is our top choice for lunch. The variety and quality are incredible—unlike anything we’ve experienced at other all-inclusives. It’s perfect for our family since we don’t always crave the same types of food; there’s truly something for everyone.
Overall, another wonderful vacation, and we can’t wait to return!

Spent 10 days with 21 of my immediate and extended family, ages 4 to 77. Resort is very beautiful and rooms are comfortable. Staff are clearly not treated well as they are often frustrated with simple requests, argue with you, and seem burntout. This was felt by all adults with me. Many instances of hidden costs and events where you are told one thing and it turns out the be a lie. Exhausted from being on gaurd. One member had an altercation with a racoon, slicing her foot and unable to reach any staff from food outisde of anothers room. Always have to ask for water so often running out. No kettles available. Not allowed to eat by the pool or beach. Must be dry and dressed for any access to food. Room service available and limited quality and options. Beach is cleared reguarlily from seaweed and nice to enjoy. Pool is very cold for the mildly warm weather, so not used. One small warm pool heavily occupied. Suggest you ask multiple people about things to do around the resort as you will get multiple different answers but might be able to decipher the truth if you ask multiple sources. Extremely difficult to get into resteruants at decent times though they stay fairly empty- appears very inefficient and understaffed, high pressure the get out quickly, often missing drinks or food. Servers often come once for drinks and once for all food order.
Defnitely do not recommend this chain of resorts with how they treat there staff.

Room was in good condition. The fridge in the room didnt work. Upgraded room at check in and staff did not make sure we had the microwave until multiple calls were made to the front desk. Not all front desk staff were nice or accommodating, and were told at check in we would have a jacuzzi but that didn't happen. Food options could improve greatly for breakfast and dinner. Room service menu should be expanded and definitely cooked better. Pools are beautiful, beach area is so-so, love the slide. All other staff were nice and accommodating. Definitely the perfect resort for famillies with small children, younger teens, older people. It's the perfect place to relax.

This Resort is excellent! This resort was exceptional from start to finish. The property is stunning, impeccably maintained, and designed to make you feel relaxed the moment you arrive. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully appointed with every comfort you could want. They really need to figure out the dinner reservations!! My 1 complaint! Standing in line the next day we got there for 45 minutes is unnecessary. They could make restaurant reservations, much easier!

The one thing i would say though is that on my last morning, right after my checkout, i needed the wifi for my travel documents and the wifi didnt work on my phone anymore. When I asked the front desk for a new code to use just for a few minutes they said no because otherwise they would have to give free wifi to all the guests?!? like what do you mean... i just stayed here for 2 weeks... i'm not asking for anything free... that was ridiculous to me... I had to open my data and pay 15$ with my phone provider for a few minutes of data... not a good way to end a trips

The front desk staff were unaccommodating and seemed uninterested in providing assistance or showing any understanding.
The food was mediocre at best, with little variety or flavor. The beach was completely overrun with seaweed, making it unpleasant to enjoy, and it seemed no one was bothered to clean it up. Entertainment options were sparse and unremarkable, with limited shows that failed to engage. The beach service was slow, and the staff weren’t particularly friendly when taking orders. We also experienced long wait times for basic things like coffee. Overall, it was a letdown, and I wouldn’t return or recommend it to others.

more details of the check-in experice; We paid extra for additional guests, but instead of receiving a larger room, we were given the same one we had booked for just three people. I understand that they were sold out that night, but once a room became available, they could have at least moved us or made an effort to accommodate us better. What was even more frustrating was the complete lack of respect or understanding from the staff; they simply told us they were sold out and couldn’t help, without offering an apology or any solution. The customer service was disappointing, to say the least.

Overall, the resort is acceptable, and the rooms are decent. However, booking the restaurants is unnecessarily difficult. The food quality is good, but there is only one main buffet, which often has long entry lines.

At night, everything shuts down by 1 a.m. There are no bars or snack options afterward, and alcohol service stops completely. The evening entertainment and shows feel very low-budget and lack quality.

The biggest downside is the beach. It is essentially non-existent, and the water is murky. If ocean swimming and beach time matter to you, this is not the right destination.

* paper thin walls, we could clearly hear the neighbors conversing, the \"club\" kept us up all night due to noise.
* restaurants - while there is a decent variety, reservations can only be made once you have checked in and they are difficult to get. Additionally, one night we had reservations at the hibachi restaurant and were never informed that the restaurant was unexpectedly closed. We only found out when we arrived for our reservation. We were a group of 10 and it was a difficult scramble to find a place that could accommodate our group.
*not walkable - while it is close enough to the little town to walk, there is no safe walking path
*no designated golf cart/pedestrian lanes. All paths were shared

The pool was super cold we were not able to go in it our entire trip. The beach was small and boring. Several shows were canceled while we were here without notification. Smallest buffet we have ever seen in Mexico and for the most part the food did not change from day to day and the one cooking station they had was so slow that we would be standing in line to order for over 20 minutes. But the best was when we arrived at night after traveling all day we were not allowed to checkin until we agreed to a timeshare presentation where they promised us a bunch of excursion vouchers. So the very next morning instead of enjoying the resort with our kids we had to leave our kids not for the promised 90min but rather a 3hr presentation & when we told our sales guy we were not interested he called his manager in to try to convince us & when we still said no the manager got mad at us and threw his hands in the air with frustration and told us to go get our vouchers but not before a 3rd guy came in and still tried to sell us. Then at the end he asks us what we like so far about the resort and I had to tell him I have no clue we have not been allowed to enjoy it yet. Then we get our vouchers and I go to try and book an excursion just to find out they only gave us a voucher to the absolute worst version of their excursion that was extremely unappealing so at the end we had to pay nearly triple the cost of what we were promised just to go on a good excursion.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Marina El Cid. The rooms were very clean and well maintained, even though they are on the older side. What truly made the experience outstanding was the staff — from housekeeping to the wait staff to the front desk, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and special.

The food was excellent with a great variety of restaurants and buffets to choose from, and even the room service exceeded our expectations. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we would highly recommend Hotel Marina El Cid to anyone looking for great service, comfort, and quality food.

Poor security. Forget an item (like a hat restaurant at closing time) and staff will keep it instead of turning it into lost and found. Caught a service person using a pass key with the do not disturb sign on the door and their rules forbid their entry.
Bar and restaurant soda dispensers not carbonated at several locations on several days.
Food was hit and miss.
Staff works hard and pools are clean.
I won't be going back.

Had a wonderful time at the resort. Check in at the platinum lounge was a breeze, Noah and Luis our butlers made us feel right at home. Highly recommend booking platinum, as all your restaurant reservations will be booked for you. Rooms are clean and well stocked, staff are very friendly. Food at all restaurants is good. Pools are plentiful and if one is too crowded it’s easy to find a quiet pool, and there’s at least one bar at every one. Only problem is the beach, it’s nice enough for lounging but the ocean isn’t really swimmable, it’s very rocky. All in all a great stay and we would definitely come again.

This was our second vacation there in 2025, and once again, it did not disappoint. We traveled with our two teenage boys, who absolutely love the Marina pool—especially the rock feature and water slide. They also enjoyed pool volleyball and spending time with friends at the pool bar.

The resort and rooms are consistently clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and—most importantly—the food is excellent for a family-friendly all-inclusive resort. The only drawback is the beach, which is only minimally swimmable.

Overall, we had another great stay and will likely return next year.

This is a very nice property and I love that you have access to all (3) properties. The staff was really friendly but be warned when you 1st get there they will try to sell you a timeshare. The rooftop pools are nice and not overly crowded.

Wonderful trip with my family of 4. Kids (11, 7) loved the pools and the slide. Very satisfied with the selections in the buffets and restaurants. Friendly and hardworking staff.

WE only were not satisfied with two thing, first,that the wi fi is not free for every guess and this is first time this happens to us at any hotel. this was awful.
The second one, that the entertainment, is basically done with the North americans tourist in mind, disregarding tourist like us, Latino, that expect more latino music, and mexican melodies. for us in this aspect was like being in an US/canadian hotel.

It’s been our fourth year in a row here and we love it for the price! The kids club staff are amazing, the food is solid and the resort grounds are so well kept and beautiful…there might be better resorts out there but it’ll cost you much more and El CID has everything you need to have a great vacation.
