We will definitely be back! This hotel was clean, had everything we needed and more, and they make you feel like family. The location is wonderful, just a short walk to the beach. Staying at Hotel Matina was one of the highlights of our stay for sure. Excellent in every single area! Thank you for a great vacation.

We have been coming here for the past 4 years. The stay is always wonderful, the hotel is very clean along with the pool and the breakfast is quite appetizing!!! The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax Hotel Matina is the place to be!!!

Great hotel in a great town

We stayed here based on a recommndation from a friend. I was reluctant to stay in Kamari instead of somewhere on the top of the cliff. Kamari is a wonderful place and this hotel is a great place. The staff went out of their way to help with everything. It was a fantastic visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Matina. The staff was super friendly and helpful with transfers and helping us to book our tour. They even surprised my daughter with a birthday cake on her birthday. It was so special. The rooms were clean and quaint with a genuine Greek charm. I just loved it.

The owner speaks fluent French, is very friendly and gives you a lot of info about what to do around, where you can withdraw money without paying too many taxes. You can even book an excursion through the hotel and it is marvellous.

We loved our stay at the Marina Hotel. The staff was excellent and our room was always spotless when we returned. We really felt like family by the time we left. The pool and wifi were awesome. The location was great. Close to restaurants and a grocery store. The only suggestion would be to increase the size of the shower.

Successful change of scene coming from California!

My wife and I had a lovely stay (3 nights, end of April 2019) at Hotel Matina! Location is very convenient, we can walk to stores (supermarket, car rental, souvenirs shops), restaurants or the beach in just few minutes in this flat part of the island. The service was great, beyond our expectations: Jean Pierre was able to give us tips and awesome recommendations only locals know about. The breakfast was very yummy (large choice) and the bar right by the pool was very convenient. Will definitely come back!

I arranged for airport pick up and they were there. Very polite. When I got to the hotel they had to put me in the hotel across the street for my first night, since they where booked. So I had to stay there and check out at 11 but couldn’t check in at Matina Hotel until 1:00. It was a lot of moving for a short stay. If they didn’t have the room than they shouldn’t of booked me a room for 2 nights

perfect hotel 5 minutes to the beach

My husband, 3 month old and I had an amazing vacation at hotel matina. Kamari beach in Santorini is highly recommended! This hotel was 5 minute walk to the beach boardwalk, tones of restaurants and stores. The rooms were very clean and the pool was a nice and quiet place to cool off! Having breakfast included was great and they had a lovely selection of breakfast items and delicious coffee! We loved our stay at hotel matina!

Charming characterful and just brilliant

Such a beautiful hotel, warmest of welcomes from all staff. Truly great spirit and atmosphere. All guests had smiles on their faces. That says a lot. That's because they were being treated with respect and love.
It's a charming style, more traditional and home-like. Pool is great.

Ok.... so it's not the high brow boutique modern style as some of its neighbours. etc.. But it's a little gem, a retreat and peaceful sanctuary. I looked at booking hotels on the beach boardwalk, but thank my lucky stars I didn't, as it was so so busy, all day and all night. It was just perfect to walk 5 minutes into the atmosphere of the beach and the hotspots of Kamari, but then have the option to retreat back to Hotel Matina and review our perfect day. FYI the boutique hotels aren't worth the extra money.

Some recommendations for people visiting Kamari for first time. Healthy choices at Navy's Restaurant. Great fresh healthy juices at Juice Me. Our fave spot was \"Mesogaia\". It's a wine bar with superb tapas - so friendly & enthusiastic about their wine/food, it's origins & flavours. Brill.

Oia - the most romantic part. Trust me... better to stay in Kamari & travel over to visit. VERY BUSY there. My advice, enjoy the sunset but STAY after all the bus/boat tourists leave. It's probably one of the most romantic things you can do. Easy to get taxi back also, took 30 mins.

Santorini is Magical and Hoel Matina had a big part in our enjoyment.

You wont regret it booking. Cheers.

This hotel is top notch! The staff, the grounds, the pool, the breakfast....everything is done with care and your comfort in mind. The staff gives wonderful recommendations and you are a two block walk to gorgeous Kamari beach. We loved our stay here!

Lovely boutique hotel

We had heard lots of wonderful stories about Santorini and it's spectacular beauty and we weren't disappointed. We stayed for 12 nights and had a brilliant holiday. Hotel Matina is located in Kamari and very central to shops, restaurants and tavernas. There's lots to see and do and the hotel is situated at the bottom of a steep hill with a path leading to the the ancient ruins of Thiera.

Matina made our stay great. It was so peaceful and beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was delicious. I totally recommence staying at Matina when in Santorni because you are just a bus ride away from Fira and Oia but get to enjoy the beauty of the beach town of Kamari. The rooms are really affordable too and outs have the prettiest view.

From collection to drop off a week later the staff at hotel matina could not have done more to help us. The hotel is a couple of minutes from the beach and the choice of restaurants within walking distance is immense. The pool at the hotel is clean and quiet as are the rooms. Fabulous family hotel

I cannot rate this hotel too highly. Knowledgeable, very helpful and very friendly staff. The owner and his wife were beyond terrific. Very close to the beach, and to stores including an excellent grocery store, and to the myriad of restaurants that overlook the beach. Set in the paradise of Santorini. I can't say enough about this hotel -- I am going back to stay even longer next year.

Basic hotel, over-priced and dangerous road

The main reason for regretting staying at this hotel is that it is situated on the main road running through the Kamari resort. This is a narrow winding road which carries very heavy traffic [coaches, minibuses, cars, motor bikes, quad bikes] and there is no pavement for much of the walk from the hotel to the seafront - so every time you walk to the seafront you are exposed to a very real risk of being run over by traffic.

Otherwise the hotel room was just about acceptable. The bed was OK. The general decorative effect was very simple - it looked like quite a few years since the hotel was decorated. The hotel room opened onto a little garden, which was quiet. There was very little noise at night - a barking dog one morning. The air conditioning kept the room cool - although it was quite noisy.

I think the general price level in Kamari is high - which reflects the high prestige of Santorini as a destination. This reflects itself in a very high price compared to some other Mediterranean resorts which are arguably much nicer. I would never go back to Santorini - the main sights [Akrotiri, Fira with its two good museums, Oia] can be seen in 48 hours. Flights to Santorini are also very expensive in high season. If you must go - go at the start or the end of the season and go for 48 hours and then get a ferry to somewhere nicer, like Naxos..

Perfect oasis for our vacation!

Absolutely wonderful stay! Starting with delicious homemade breakfasts daily and leisurely afternoons poolside, everything at Hotel Matina was perfect for our family! It was a short walk to Kamari Beach and many restaurants. We went scuba diving and rented ATVs to explore the island...both in easy walking distance of the hotel. But best of all was the hospitality of the entire staff--top notch!! Hotel Matina gets Our highest recommendation!

Hotel Matina--a Dream Come True!

everything about the Hotel Matina was wonderful--it was a dream come true!
The hospitality of the entire staff was superb! We greatly appreciated the Winery Sunset and dinner trip with two other families personally escorted by the owner! The rooms were immaculately cleaned daily. Complimentary breakfasts included homemade cakes, quiches, and salads to satisfy our whole family. The pool was a perfect oasis with magnificent views of the mountain. It is a fun and short 4-min walk to the beautiful Aegean Sea at Kamari Beach and multiple delicious restaurants. the Hotel Matina was ideal and we all hope to return!

We had a lovely 10 day stay at matina hotel in kamari , could not of been better location. Been only a short walk to the long beach with all the restraunts and shops , hotel staff were friendly and helpful , pool area was very nice and well used but not bustling . The only downfall is having to use pool toilet and shower to change when waiting to go home and you have to leave your room at 12 noon .

Wonderful Hotel

We stayed in the Matina Hotel for 8 nights, it really was a joyful experience which the delightful friendly staff worked tirelessly to provide.
The rooms are a decent size with air con. and are cleaned daily to a high standard. The pool area was never overcrowded and the pool bar had a wide selection of drinks and food.
The owner of the hotel picked us up from the airport and he offered us trips to local sights and resturants just about every day at very reasonable prices.
There is a wide selection of resturants and bars literally around the corner and the beach is less than 10 minutes walk away.
There was apparently a financial crisis in Greece at the time...We saw no evidence of a crisis there at all.
I would highly recommend the Hotel Matina to anyone wishing to visit the beautiful island of Santorini.

Nice hotel with the most lovely staff

The staff alone make the hotel such a pleasant place to stay, the atmosphere is very relaxed and all staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is just a short walk down to the beach and near by restaurants all along the sea front. The rooms were very quiet and peaceful! We met a couple who have come back to the same hotel for the past 12 years which just shows how inviting it is. Could not recommend hotel Matina more!

Hidden Gem in Kamara Beach

What a nice find! From the moment we checked in, the entire staff was very pleasant & more than willing to help or offer suggestions. It was especially nice of them to hold our luggage there after we checked out, since our ferry wasn't til later in the evening. The hotel is on the smaller side, and that's what gives it its charm. The hotel is a short walk from the beach & Boardwalk area, which keeps it quiet at night. The hotel offers a nice, relaxing pool area with a nice little bar to have a drink or a meal. The breakfast in the morning is very nice also. All in all, I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anybody. I am very glad to have stayed here, and would definitely do it again!

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Matina. The staff made us feel welcome straight away and were very helpful with guidance on trips, local restaurants and amenities. The hotel is a short walk to the beach and had a supermarket very close by. There was a nice variety for breakfast including fresh fruit and breads. If you are staying in Kamari, this is a great hotel to choose.

Hotel Matina is situated in an ideal location; a short walk to the beachfront with all the restaurants and facilities, but quiet too. The staff were lovely and helpful and the room was comfortable. The only issues were that the range at breakfast was a little limited. Some of the bread tasted a little stale, there was no option for tea/hot water, cold water wasn't available everyday and hot options were just served up on a cold plate (a few fried eggs and some mini frankfurters). Also the rooms could do with a waste bin in addition to the one in the bathroom.
A very pleasant hotel nonetheless.

The hotel was fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay, great location, lovely facilities and fantastic, welcoming staff.
Our room wasn't available on arrival and we had to change after two nights but the staff were very apologetic and gave us dome complimentary wine, they also reduced the cost of keeping our room for a late check out which was a nice gesture.

The hotel is ideally located just 5 minutes from the sea, which makes it very convenient to enjoy the beach. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was varied and delicious, a perfect way to start the day. The pool is pleasant and well maintained, a real plus to relax.
