Front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. Our room was very cute and our balcony had a wonderful view of the mountains. The location was great and close to everything.
The breakfast was delicious and in addition to the buffet options, they include table side service with made to order dishes as well. Definitely recommend.

The hotel is very nice. Staff is friendly. Spa is relaxing and exactly what you want after a day of skiing, the hotel is only a 7 minute drive away from Garmisch-Classic. The rooms are spacious and we love that they had connecting rooms for our family of 4. In my opinion, the mattress wasn’t very comfortable, but maybe I was sore from skiing. My family members slept fine and had no complaints. The breakfast is very nice. We love that the hotel is dog friendly.

The hotel's incredible hundred year history stands out in pretty much every aspect of this well maintained hotel. Some splendid views greet you in the mornkng. Good location and hearty breakfast rounded up a comfortable stay. Missed a coffee machine in the room though.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The room overlooked the front of the property, so there was traffic on Von Brug Strasse during the day. However, things really quiet down at night. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was fantastic. So many choices, great coffee, and a very homey feel to the entire property. Would stay here again.

Hotel is old, which is fine but the bathrooms and bedrooms were dirty, someones hair all over the bathroom floor. Uncomfortable bed, broken tiles and no updates. At 8am a cleaning person attempted to get in our room as I was changing and I was quickly about to shut the door. It is advertised as parking available but those are only a handful of spots. This hotel was very expensive for the experience.

The hotel was quaint but charming. Check in was quick, and receptionist was very friendly. The hotel was walking distance to restaurants and shops. Our room was a large king but the bed was low on the floor unlike more modern style beds. But the mattress was comfortable enough.

We loved staying at this hotel. The check in process was easy, the view from our room was beautiful and breakfast was delicious and filling. My husband enjoyed using the pool and the sauna. Easy walking distance to the train station and downtown.

The staff were very friendly. The hotel is quite dated. The room had been renovated, however, all of the cracks in the wooden moulding were filled with black mold, and there was a musty smell throughout the hotel.

Decent Room for the Price

The staff were friendly and made us feel welcomed. The room was below average inside, but had a beautiful view of ZUGSPITZE.
They had no fans which made sleeping near impossible with how hot it was. They should add these to their offering.
Breakfast was a little above average. Walking distance to everything was okay, but we were walking 6-7 miles a day so this is hard to advise on given a lot of people will not walk that far.

Comfortable and clean rooms. The location was perfect. Very close to train station and in the middle of Garmisch-Partenkirchen towns. Walking distance to Partnach Gorge and Olympic park. Very easy to get to Eibsee and Zugspitze by train, bus, or car. Helpful staff. Superb breakfast included in price. Also a spa and pool which I didn’t have time to use but it’s there.

My parents stayed here 22 years ago and still claim it is their favorite hotel, so when I took a trip in the area I took there suggestion. Completely lived up to (and beyond) expectations. Amazing breakfast, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful clean rooms. The view is amazing as well, and though we did not have time to use the spa, it looked lovely.

We chose this hotel based on the reviews, especially what they said about the mountain views, and we were so glad we did. We fell in love as soon as we looked out of our window. Yes it’s an older facility…no A/C in the summer, and the pipes are still heated in the bathroom in warmer months which was difficult for us. But otherwise we really loved this place. We liked that it wasn’t directly “downtown” and it’s super convenient to the train station and grocery stores. The staff is amazing and the views are magnificent.

Beautiful older hotel- very well kept. Great view of the mountains from our balcony. Sat there relaxing enjoying a beer! Staff and breakfast were wonderful. Close walk to train station and Zugspitze Bahn. Has a pool sauna and steam room but we just stayed 2 nights so no time to use them but they looked excellent. We plan to come back next year and stay longer. We highly recommend Wittelsbacher Hof

We had a wonderful stay. We woke up to beautiful mountains outside our balcony window. The lady at breakfast was super nice. The front desk gentleman was very nice and spoke English so that was helpful. It is close to the train station about an 8 min walk. Aldi was down the street a couple blocks.

This hotel and its staff were a pleasure! We arrived at the train station and walked about 10minutes to the hotel. We were immediately impressed by the old world charm of its public spaces and the amenities of indoor pool, sauna, & steam bath. The buffet breakfast with made to order eggs was a delightful way to start the day and an afternoon teatime was a nice touch. Located centrally right in the middle between Garmisch & Partenkichen, which were both walkable, we will be happy to return!

Great Hotel, Centrally Located

This was a great hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is right on the river between both old downtowns, only a few blocs from the train station. This definitely still has the feel of a German spa hotel. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were large and comfortable but had older furnishings. I would definitely stay here again. It felt like a fun, older hotel rather than a cookie cutter chain hotel.

Charming traditional German hotel

Second time staying at this hotel (last time was 2013). Charming hotel, nice people, large nicely appointed rooms, beds are a little more firm than we prefer (typically German), super soft squishy pillows. Breakfast was good - excellent coffee! - with quite a few choices for us non-meat eaters. Balcony door barely latched - with a little finagling it would not pop open. It needs to be fixed for security reasons. We would stay here again.

Hotel is near the center of town so it’s easy to walk everywhere. Breakfast doesn’t start until 7 am but they gave me a tray of coffee service earlier. My only complaint is the bed is short. I’m just under 6 ft and had to sleep diagonally.

Nice hotel, but front desk personnel were a bit standoffish. No ac or fan and a storm blew in so we couldn’t keep doors/windows open or tons of water came in. Our ‘patio’ door wouldn’t close & we had to use towels to clean the floors. This wasn’t fixed despite us being told it would be. Good breakfast!

Definitely NOT a 4star hotel

I’ve been to Europe a lot and this hotel is at most a 3 star range - as in cleanliness (dust everywhere. I had to clean/wipe myself), age of furniture, bathroom, etc is at that range.

Even with signs, hotel staff intruded without knocking twice. Found the night staff to be particularly annoyed at our enquiries.

This hotel has all the basics, a good location near the city center, and is value-for-money. Parking and pet fee were free, but there was no more street parking available, so we had to park in the garage, and the layout was tricky to maneuver in. The breakfast was really comprehensive and I loved that they took orders for eggs and coffee. The room itself was okay, but the bathroom felt cramped. The bathtub and shower are combined, and there is no curtain or screen to prevent water from splashing. Also, the bathroom ceiling was sloped and low. I also wished the room was quieter. In the middle of the night, I could hear people on the street having a loud conversation. You can also hear traffic quite distinctly. But the service was quite good at the hotel and the price is low for the area, so maybe trade-offs can be made, especially if you're just looking for a place to stay, rather than for a luxurious time.

A lovely property, beautiful views. The rooms were nice, breakfast very good with a wide variety to choose from. A nice indoor pool and sauna, and lounge chairs outside. David at the front desk went out of his way to assist us in our travel and sightseeing requests. The location is so close to area restaurants, shops and old Garmish. Location was very convenient. Our big disappointment was the room we had. Though the common areas were lovely and the breakfast nice, our room bore NO resemblance to the rooms shown in the photos on the site. All of the furnishings were old and very tired looking. The bathroom was tiny with a treacherous step up shower ( also tiny) with nothing to hold on to entering or exiting. Did not feel we received value for what we paid.

Great hotel, but could really be better with just a few thoughtful touches. For example, there is no shelf or anywhere in the shower to put toiletries while showering, so they are either on the floor or you have to open the shower door to get them (and water gets all over the place). There was a window (yes, a window) in the bathroom between the sleeping area and bathroom, which made privacy an issue. The window is probably a characteristic retained after remodeling, but at least put frosted glass in it! That said, the hotel is worth the price, it is clean and staff are very friendly, the breakfast is delicious, it is centrally located, and there is a wonderful pool/spa area my son enjoyed. Will be back.

Beautiful sitting area near lobby and breakfast area. Delicious breakfast. Very dated, tiny and uncomfortable rooms. The bathroom is even smaller and more uncomfortable. Night attendant not the most pleasant person. For the huge amount of money the stay cost we were disappointed and would have much rather stayed elsewhere.
