We were put in the apartments. It was raining and required walking in rain and difficulty parking. The next day upon checkout we were told we could have stayed in hotel IF I HAD ASKED. Should have been asked by reception!

I have stayed in this hotel several times beginning in 2009. It used to be a wonderful place, but it has gone down drastically in the last few years. During my recent stay I usually had to wait for someone to show up at the front desk, one time for 20 minutes! This was during hours when the desk was advertised as being manned. There are directions to call a number if no one was at the desk, but no one ever answered. Breakfast was adequate, but it used to be spectacular! The German restaurant has been replaced by a pizzeria. It is quite good, but the German restaurant was really special. I really doubt that I will stay here again. Having said all that, I will give one complement: the staff was very helpful in retrieving an item which I left in a taxi.

We were in one of the Annex apartments. No A/C so had to keep windows open; noisy bar across street a bit annoying. Don’t think it would be a problem in cooler weather with closed windows and bar patrons inside the bar. But overall great location in center of town. Staff very helpful

We've stayed here before but never in the apartments. Didn't know they were there. We were very impressed with the amount of space. The rooms are comfortable. Wish we would have had more than one night. Will definitely stay here again the next time in town.

The apartments are laid out nicely and breakfast was good.

The apartment on the top floor of building 7 has no WiFi in most spots--the router seems to be located on the first floor. Also the bathroom didn't have a door (by design). Only one window is reachable and there is no air conditioning, so it got quite warm in there.

Parking was great and the hotel is in the middle of town with easy access to shopping and dining. Had no hot water at all. Complained. Problem was not solved. It seemed as they had problems with this for a while. We had a long day and were looking forward to a hot shower. It was horrible!

We would never stay at this property again. We booked an apartment room and did not realize this was not in the hotel property. Therefore we had to pay to park in a lot that was not convenient. The check in process was lengthy, as the front office clerk made it seem like he was doing something he has never done before. It was 15 minutes just to get our room key with nobody in line in front of us. Our room was very uninviting and even worse was SO uncomfortable. The bed was awful and they did nothing to ensure privacy, as we could hear all the other guests’ conversations in their rooms. They put a film over the bathroom window, but it definitely did not completely block the view of anyone walking outside. We slept terrible all 4 nights we were there. The ONLY plus of this hotel is the location. Oh, and the “toiletries” were a dispenser on the wall.

The stay was nice and the staff was nice and friendly. The shower was really small in size. The website is misleading when it says personal parking area. There is only 4-5 spots. Or you park down the street.

Very good breakfast and the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel that served some delicious food. I would recommend the hotel but inform them of the shortcomings.

We had booked one of the apartments, and found it very inadequate. Even though is was suppose to be an apartment, it had no sitting area. There were only three straight back chairs at a kitchen table. No sofa or comfortable easy chairs. The sliding glass shower door was hanging by one slider at the top (there should have been two, and one at the bottom. It couldn't be closed properly, and was in danger of falling off completely. During the night, the radiator started vibrating loudly, and could only be stopped by turning it on fully. There was no wifi in the room. The next morning, we told them that we would not stay in that room another night, and they moved us to a room in the main hotel. It was large with comfortable seating, however the heat did not work, and we had to use a portable heater. There was also a bad (like sewer) odor coming from the shower drain. The general condition of the hotel was showing it's age, and needs a lot of updating. To add insult to injury, we were charged an 10 Euro supplement because we checked in early (around noon), even though the room was ready and had been empty the night before. The maids were extremely helpful and kind to us considering the conditions. The breakfast options were inadequate, and not nearly as good as years ago when we stayed here.

Our room was in a unattached building to the main hotel. While it was very modern in appearance the floors squeaked so bad they would wake the dead. Also the boards supporting the bed were flimsy and squeaked every time you moved in the bed. The hotel is in a great location though with many good restaurants in the immediate area. The hotel must be very safe as the door to our room looked like a bank vault door.

Great Hotel and Location

This was my second time staying at this hotel. The hotel is located is the best possible location. You are able to walk to numerous shops and restaurants. You also receive a public transportation ticket when you arrive for the local bus and train. The only complaint I have is the lack of parking at the hotel. This is usually the case anywhere in Europe though. There was a parking lot approximately 200 meters away which we used. Like I said, this was my second time at the hotel and I'll likely be returning.

Great Location, No Parking, Terrible Bed, Just OK

The hotel is perfectly located but there are 4 parking spots total in front which requires most guests to pay for hourly parking. The apartment we stayed in was clean overall, but the hot water boiler and the coffee pot were filthy. The bed was akin to sleeping on a plank of plywood and the walls were paper thin. Because we had gotten a last minute deal the room was alright for the price, but the normal hotel website prices are absurd for what you get even compared to the other local hotels. Would recommend if you catch the rooms on a good sale and just need a clean place to stay for a single night.

Great location. Parking is difficult but once you park it is within walking distance to everything you need. You also get free bus passes if you prefer not to walk. The housekeeper was very friendly. The shower was extremely small with a low ceiling.

Apart from the location every thing was terrible
The hotel staff unfriendly unhelpful at all even the free bus ticket they didn't tell us about when we check in we found out from Google !!
The room was awful noisy old furniture and the no good cleaning done at all the bathroom without toilet paper and soaps we have to call and ask every day !!
I really don't advise anyone to stay at all at that terrible hotel

Great location within G-P near all the shops, cafes & bars and is reasonablely priced for the town. Looks good from the outside but the rooms are tired with oldie-worldy spooky 'art' and statues. There is absolutely no soundproofing so I heard all the conversations and snoring from adjoining rooms as well as all the hoovering and cleaning noise which starts from approx. 7am. Even with a 'Do Not Disturb' sign the guests & staff are ignorant that folk are still trying to sleep! In-house restaurant is great and staff are nice but chat all night on the phone- which can be heard inside room 101 and beyond. WIFI is dire and you only get 30mins free in the town centre. i would stay here again but would include earplugs.

Try to charge on anything as they knew we didn't have a choice.
No free parking (maybe for 3 lucky gusts- or hotel personal).
They added other \"taxes\"...
And over charged for the hotel.

We got one of the apartments which was superb. 15 minute bus ride to and from the slopes and the stop was literally over the road. As you are smack bang in the middle of town we had easy access to all of the shops and restaurants. There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance if you fancy an easy night.

Nice location within walking distance

The hotel was clean and within walking distance of the shopping district and train station. We stayed in one of the apartments which came with a nice kitchen. The bathroom had been recently renovated.

The entire staff was very friendly and spoke English. They answered all of our questions on the best place to park, where to go to skiing, and the best local restaurants.

While the hotel did not have parking, there was a parking lot about 200 meters away for only four euro for the weekend.

Overall the hotel exceeded our expectations. We plan on staying there again next time.

Great alpine hotel

We came to this hotel because we usually go there, because, the pricing is very good for what it is and the rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. From our room, we had great views of the village, the mountains and the river. It is very conviniently close to the lifts, shopping and restaurants. The hotel dining room was very nice and the food good. But for people who enjoy spas, there is a nice sauna on the 1st floor. However, a few years ago an ugly doner kebap stand was built in to this beautiful, historic building. A problem is that the hotel only has 5 parking spaces and the hotel has 45 rooms(15 per floor). The pricing of the breakfast buffet which is not included with the room is over 10 euros per person per day.

Dingy little attic room

The single room I had was on the top floor. It's an attic room meaning the ceiling is slanted. The bed is tucked in the corner so it's not possible to sit up right. The pillow was lumpy. There was a strand of hair in the shower from someone else. The shower door came off when I tried to close it. There were skylight windows, which in a way, were quite cool. I could see the mountain from the room. However, there were no blinds. No chance for a lie in. Also the cleaning lady was quite loud and tried to come in when I was in the bathroom.
The reception staff were unfriendly and the receptionist lady was especially miserable.
All in all, I did not have a comfortable stay and I will not return again.

ATLAS Posthotel a Great place to stay.

Wow what a great place. I originally arranged to stay in the ATLAS Posthotel for one night and they were very nice in changing it so we could stay two nights. I would highly recommend this place to any couple traveling to Garmisch. We went in the Fall of 2015 and I would go back in a heartbeat. The only thing I would have liked better would have been a refrigerator in the room. The staff was very helpful. I cannot give this place enough praises.

The hotel is in the town center within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, a beautiful park, etc. Our room was large by European standards. The breakfast was traditional and excellent (McDonalds is across the street for those with a fast food palate). Onsite parking is limited (welcome to Europe), but there's a sizable public lot 1-2 blocks away. I'll stay here again.

Garmisch is special!

Garmisch is a ski resort city. Our hotel was designed to accommodate skiers (equipment closet outside room). But it was comfortable. It has an elevator! Cleanliness of room was terrific. We only ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast, which was fine. We were provided with a ticket for free transportation (bus) for our stay. Very convenient to be able to hop on/hop off.

Great location!

The hotel is very centrally located to the main downtown area which was really fantastic! They also offered free bus vouchers to use during your stay which made getting to major attractions quite easy. The room was comfortable, LOVED The Pillows- but it was a bit hot without the AC but that's pretty standard for Europe. The staff for the most part was pleasant, though the restaurant staff could use some improvement (slow service/a bit rude)- however I also find this quite common for the region. My only complaint was that it was a loud- even with the window shut, between the church bells and overflow noise from the restaurant bar it was hard to get a good nights sleep.

I know many hotels give 'bad' room and expect guest to ask for upgrade. Yet, my experience went bit too far. I selected the most expensive room available in hotels.com for a deluxe double of 40 sq.m. in size. Yet, I was offered a tiny room. Receptionist Revena is nice enough to give us room change. Yet, she explained 'what was given to us was what I paid for'. We were \"upgraded\" to an apartment. Every floor tile is squeaky. Shower head was wrongly installed. Kitchen is meaningless to us. And, it's still not up to 40 sq.m. I still feel being ripe off.

We had an apartment separate from the hotel. Hot water was limited at times and the floor made noises which probably could be heard underneath our place. The view from the windows is incredible and the location great. We found out too late that Garmisch charges 15 Euro for a \"free\" taxi ride to the Bahnhof at the end of your stay. Taxis are fairly inexpensive so be sure to take a last tour.

Hotel that we'll never return nor recommend.

This is a terrible hotel/guesthouse in this beautiful town of Garmish. it suppose to be better as the hotel main building is really nice looking but they sent us to stay at their separate apartment 2 blocks behind and put us in the ground floor room. We arrived there after 6 PM with small raining but there was no staff to take us to the room, the adjacent room had a family of 3-4 children and was cooking inside the room, that was so smelly.
Service quality at both reception desk and restaurant are below standard and seems there was no manager/management staff to look around and solve customer problems.

Nice hotel, GREAT staff

The room was decent, the breakfast very good. The staff, fantastic. They went well out of their way to provide me with a bottle of champagne to celebrate my brother's upcoming engagement later in the day, on a trip off to Neuschwanstein, including helping me smuggle the glasses away. I appreciated their help very very much. The WiFi was typically poor as in most German hotels, but extant. Location, good, Garmisch is beautiful.

Great hotel in Garmisch

Great hotel we love staying here every time we visit Garmisch, but if it happens to be a warm evening and you must open the window for air, THE DISCO/CASINO ACROSS THE STREET IS LOUD AND DOESNT CLOSE UNTIL 4AM!!!. 3 nights of this in a quiet, peaceful town may make us decide to stay somewhere else next time. And it all depends on if you need a window open for air.

Reasonable hotel with access to train station

About 15 minutes walk from the train station. Hotel is located on a very busy street which i wasn't aware of. I prefer quiet areas for my family. The good thing is that there is Mcdonalds and Pizza hut just outside the hotel to get cheap meals. The bus stop (bus# 1, 2) just outside the hotel goes straight to the train station.

Atlas is a good hotel in a great location GARMISCH

Franz, the day-time front-desk, is spectacular and speaks English extremely well. He was very helpful in assisting our group of 12 with pension arrangements in Oberammergau.

Apartment in the heart of town!

We were given an apartment behind the hotel, instead a of a room, but it worked out well! The bathroom was perfectly new, while the building still had old world charm. Loved it! You have to be okay with walking your bags up a few floors to reach your room, but we didn't mind. The mountain view from the apartment was worth it.
