I love how comfortable the bed is! I rested super well! The room was spotless. The staff has been very nice and has a good location. There is a bank nearby and a couple of convenient stores. The hotel is about 12 minutes from the center / Marienplatz. I’d recommend it for solo travelers if they plan to visit Garmisch

Charming old world hotel with authentic details. Comfortable room with all amenities. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, had omelet station in addition to large spread of meats, cheeses, breads, fruits and more. Lovely fresh squeezed orange juice too. Staff extremely accommodating and lots of space to relax.

Nice place, terrible staff

Nice place but terrible staff. At the front desk it clearly states that the sauna can be turned on by request, at least two hours before use. We requested it be turned on in the morning and were told it would only be turned on in the afternoon. Why put the sign there if it's a lie? Then at checkout, we were a about 15 mins late and they wanted us to pay €20. The room wasn't even rented that night (I asked the night before in case we wanted to extend)

We loved this property. The staff was helpful. The views were breathtaking. The room and property were charming and cozy.
There is no ac, but we didn’t really need it. There is an elevator.
It is in Partenkirchen, which we just lucked out on being the better choice. It is more classic and quaint.

So we had cobwebs in rafters, the check in was a joke. We arrived around 630pm or 7pm no one at desk hit the bell a couple of times no one came 10min later guy came from bar area gave me keys to second floor no assistance with luggage no elevator. Left me form to fill out while he went back to bar area. During the night for 2 hours literally a male person was loudly banging on a door trying to get in no one to contact as we had no information provided on check in. Everyone who checked out in am complained about the noise and sleep disturbance a sorry was provided and nothing else. Little disappointing for the price.

Service from the night reception was excellent. The room was a bit warm and he found a standing fan for us. He also recommended nearby restaurants and was generally very helpful. The room was a bit dated but that was to be expected for an old hotel. The bathroom looked newly renovated and the water was hot. The hotel breakfast was excellent with a fresh orange juice machine, omelette station chef was fabulous with his presentation and there was fresh honeycomb.

This place was amazing. Such interesting history, so charming. Located right in the middle of the old part of town. Close to buses and trains. The only thing I would have preferred would have been a fan in my room. I’m used to not having air conditioning in Europe, especially in a centuries old hotel, but a regular fan would have been a godsend. Otherwise, spectacular views and a cozy feel.

Stunning view from balcony, they helped unload and bring luggage up to room. We were meet with moist warm towels to freshen up and glass of champagne while checking in. You are right in the heart of great food and drink and hiking trails. The gondola to Wank Mountain is a 25 minute walk away. Worth it!! Loved our stay here.

This was an older hotel that has been updated. It is a grand place to stay. A nice little village unique in every respect. The rooms and the bathroom were very large. Well worth staying here. The German restaurant next door was excellent--great service and great food. However, stay away from the Greek restaurant down the street. I had gyros, they were burnt to a crisp.

Wonderful Hotel

We really enjoyed this hotel. It has a lot of personality and the staff were wonderful.

Everything was comfortable and very clean.

The general location is really good. It's surrounded by a number of stores and restaurants. If you walk up the nearby hillside (towards the church on the hill), there's even the nicest little beer garden on the hill w/ a great view of the town and mountains.

Parking is a little tough, but there is parking behind the hotel and there's a nearby underground garage about 100ft away, which costs around 5 EUR per day.

We love this hotel and we'd highly recommend to anyone visiting.

A really cool hotel, very characterful and charming. The staff were amazing. The place really does need some TLC, such great architectural features and they are definitely showing wear and tear. And don't be fooled by the \"free onsite parking\" - there are 5 spaces in their \"parking lot\" and you have to use the public garage. Luckily, it's right there and only 5 Euros per day.

The room was outdated with damaged furniture. The sauna had no towels, and there are only two towels in the room. They wanted extra for the towels to be used in the sauna. Plenty of better stays available for the price.. would not recommend nor stay here ever again.

I will admit the breakfast is good, but ensure your booking has breakfast included and you can prove it. I was not the only one surprised with an extra breakfast charge when I thought I booked with breakfast, unfortunately my booking didn’t specifically say one way or the other.

Great location in the middle of Garmsich. Staff was friendly enough. The hotel is old and the rooms show some age, but it was an overall pleasant experience. It was annoying that my room didn't have any soap or shampoo, the containers were empty.

Still, its a cool old hotel, if a little spooky. If there is a haunted hotel in Garmsich, its this one.

The staff were amazing. We were there for my wifes birthday and they sang happy birthday to her and sent up some complimentary champagne. Our room had a picturesque view of the mountains so every morning we would watch the sun come up from our balcony. Food was really good too. I recommend doing the breakfast buffet. They are also very dog freindly and treated our dog like royalty.

Great Quick Bavarian Experience

Just a quick night in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to go skiing the next day. The service was great and the hotel is full of history (really old and Bavarian). The spa / sauna was very cool if you’re into that.

This hotel is excellently located in what I want to call the historical side of Garmisch Partenkirchen. We were set up on the 3rd floor where we had an amazing view of the mountains and city from our porch. The hotel provided all that was expected of a good hotel. We did not realize how close our porch neighbors were though and this unfortunately led up to our room reeking of cigarette smoke until our neighbors went back inside and we re-aired out our room. It appears that the cleaning crew isn't very thorough either because we found 2 empty beer bottles, an empty beer can, a blanket, and an empty cigarette box left on our porch. Otherwise, I felt like this was a very fancy and fun place to stay and I would still recommend it to others. The staff were very kind, considerate, and helpful and all spoke very good English.

False advertising, beware!!!

NO air conditioning and NO WI-FI as was advertised! We could get spotty WI-FI in lobby some times. Even on the free lobby computer, the desk clerk that we asked could not get wi-fi to work!! This is a big deal if you want to book things to do or get on Internet to check menus, reservations, or have connection with follow-on hotels!
Also, NO air conditioning or vents so prepare to open windows (which is a problem if the German band is playing outside your family's window late at night!)
Furthermore, the room key needs to be put into a switch at the entrance to your room to make any electricity work in your room. This was a huge problem because every time you left the room with key, there was no access to lights for others!! Also, everything in your mini fridge would get warm every time you would go out for the day, because the fridge would turn off!!! (Yogurt, baby milk, all had to be tossed out!!)
Oh, and about the pool...it is a \"natural pool\", which means that it has algae and grass and plants and ??? growing in it!
I can guarantee that we would never stay in another Atlas Hotel in our frequent travels. I honestly feel like the hotel actually overcharged us for our stay, as they actually mis-led us by lying to us. We are just a small family, trying to go on a special vacation for our daughter's birthday. . I

We arrived early in the day of the 23rd of December and the hotel made all efforts to get us into one of our rooms prior to noon and the second room was available around 130pm. That spoke volumes about how the staff went above and beyond. The highlight was asking them where I could get a small Christmas tree - they said they would take care of it and that night after we returned from dinner we found a lovely tree in our Children's room which was decorated perfectly! The team made our holiday unforgettable.

The room was a bit small. It was in the Partenkirschen part of town; lots of traditional restaurants nearby. About a 20 minute walk to main train station and the Zugspitz bahn.

We had a slight problem with the speed of the service in the restaurant as the hotel was really busy but the staff and in particular the receptionist went out of there way to make it up to us. The setting is fabulous and King full of history. King Ludwig stayed at this hotel on many occasions. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff at the Atlas Grand is outstanding. If you go in the summer, be aware there is no air conditioning. Regardless, I certainly would recommend the Atlas Grand for anyone traveling to that part of Bavaria.

Stayed here for two nights and would stay here again. Hotel is beautiful, access is great, staff is friendly, bar is nice, and the breakfast is awesome for a European hotel. I did not use the pool or saunas, but the looked great (the pool is not an American style, but a natural style) still looked refreshing though. I was in a single room with a single bed at the far end of the hotel, and had no issues accessing the WIFI.

The hotel was beautiful. The location was great. We booked on expedia and got an \"internet\" room. The room looked great and bathroom was fully remodeled but the bed was so hard and old i couldn't sleep. The mini fridge didnt work and the tv didn't work. One of our party booked directly and paid 20€ more and had a perfect room. That said, i was satisfied. The room rate was 40€ cheaper than anywhere in town.

The room was over the top with king size bed, velvet canopy over the bed with s crown on top. Furnishings were very nice period furniture. Very impressive. The bathroom, however looked good, but the computerized whirlpool tub and computerized shower had many functiones that didn't work. Also tiwel rails were not secured and one was on the floor. the public rooms are Bavarian in style and opulent. The hotel is central in the old part of the town Watch out on Sunday morning for church bells at 5.45 summoning worshipers to service!

Been traveling to Europe for 40 years. Smallest room I've ever stayed in. Bathroom was fine. Could not get around bed without hitting legs on something. This was listed as a 4+ star hotel. Was NOT. Wifi did not work in our room. We had to go to the lobby to use it. Breakfast was great however.

Hard to find, but worth the effort.

Loved this hotel, even though it was hard to find. We got a upgrade for free, and there are lots of restaurants, bakery, and shops right out your door. We did have to pay for parking, but our rate was so great it still was a deal. The staff was amazing, it's definitely a great place to stay.

Short trip to Garmisch Partenkirchen

Stay at Atlas hotel was ok. The service when we arrived seemed a little bit rude. The room had a great view though everything looked a little out of date and dark. The bathroom had several things which I think for a 4star hotel are just not acceptable. The handle of the shower head was broken, some tiles were broken and also the sink cabinet seemed to loose some wood. Overall it was a decent stay. The breakfast which was included was good and the service there was nice and friendly. Overall it was a good experience but I would have expected a more designed room, in a better condition bathroom and more professional service at the front desk when we checked in. The location of the hotel is great though. Right in the center of the old town and about 20min walk to train station.

I travelled down to Partinkirchen with my daughter Alisha for a weekend of Skiing, we found the hotel to be first class in terms of accommodation and service, our room (204 from memory) had a balcony with simply breathtaking views of the mountains, highly recommended.

First hotel of many in Bavaria that is 5 star!

We were surprised that this hotel exceeded our expectations. First the street that it's on is very romantic and charming with a lot of historic character which is portrayed throughout the hotel. Fine lobby, library, gorgeous furniture, excellent staff. The room was extremely spacious, I would go as far as saying the biggest we've stayed in Bavaria and we get out almost every weekend to a different property. The views from the room were amazing and they also have a spacious balcony. We didn't have a chance to eat there this time, but we will definitely come back to this property. I will no longer every stay anywhere else in Garmisch or surrounding area when we ski in Zugspitze, but only at this property. So impressed. I'm used to N.A. standards especially with customer service and it's difficult to get in Bavaria so when you find a gem, you really appreciate it.

Some friends and I rented two rooms for a ski weekend in February 2015. The hotel seemed nice, was convenient enough to the train station, and they gave us free prosecco upon check-in which was a great touch. We checked in to our two rooms and loved how nicely decorated they were. They were also very spacious with nice bathrooms (ours had a huge spa tub). However, after the initial glance around the room, we quickly noticed that the floors had not been cleaned at all! There were literally rose petals and candy on the floor, left over from some previous tenant. Additionally, we opened the closet and found a bag of wet old towels on the floor. We called down to the front desk twice to request that someone come vacuum the floors at the very least. They assured us both times that someone was on their way. We went to the store and had some drinks in the hotel with our friends, and then returned to our room a couple hours later to find that it was still dirty! This time, I went to the front desk to complain and was informed that the cleaning staff were no longer on site due to the time of evening. However, the man working the front desk very nicely went and vacuumed our room himself. I appreciate his effort, but am otherwise disappointed in the experience. Additionally, all three lights above our bathroom mirror were broken, making it impossible to put on make-up, etc.

atlas in Garmisch Germany we will be back.

Great location. A little difficult to locate. We selected other restaurants so can't comment on that. We hope to stay at the atlas again this winter.

Welcoming and characterful

Right on the main street in Partenkirchen, this place looks like the historic luxury establishment it is. We really appreciated the glass of prosecco on arrival, and the staff were only too happy to help. Our room was in the annexe, and was definitely less characterful than the rest of the hotel (so I'd ask for the main building next time), but clean and of a decent size. The beds, I have to say, were so hard they were uncomfortable, but this did not spoil our enjoyment at all. Breakfast is expensive but outstanding quality. But the best thing of all is the sauna with the view out over the mountains. This was possibly the most memorable sauna experience we've ever had, and that alone would make us go back. A great stay in all.

Nicer and more pricey than expected

We enjoyed staying in this hotel. The staff were excellent and very kind. We brought our small dog and they were very accommodating. Only 9 euro per night for him. Our only dislike was that the breakfast cost was so high and spa services are only available on certain days of the week which I don't remember being advertised. Over all, for the price we paid we got a great deal. The location was great as well. Next time we will probably find a location that is much cheaper as we prefer to spend more money on outings than our hotel.

Great historic Bavarian hotel

Hotel was located in old town. Convenient to restaurants and shopping. Staff was very helpful with hotel amenities and area tourists information. Breakfast buffet was very good with a large variety to select.

Character and history.

Beautiful, typically Bavarian hotel on a lovely street. Great breakfast with friendly staff.

Almost perfect if it was not for the standard of the beds and pillows. Although spotlessly clean, they really could do with renewing. After a long day walking or skiing you need a comfortable rest, and unfortunately they fell a little short of the mark.

The staff was most helpful. the only complian was the use of the lift -it was out of order most of my stay...otherwise it was the perfect place to stay
