The hotel enjoys a peaceful and relaxed location in the centre of the city. The building is one of the city's landmarks, along with the Hostería del Estudiante in the former San Jerónimo college, which was founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1510 and which offers marvellous views over the beautiful Patio Trilingüe courtyard of the University of Alcalá de Henares.

The hotel is next to monumental treasures such as the Capilla de San Ildefonso, the Palacio Arzobispal and the baroque convent of Las Bernardas. Nightlife opportunities and links to public transport can be found in the immediate vicinity.

The bus and train stations are about 15 and 20 minutes' walking distance away, respectively. The La Dehesa shopping centre is about a 15-minute drive away, and Barajas Airport is approximately 25 km away.

This newly opened city hotel was built in 2008. It is housed in a magnificent seventeenth-century building, the former Santo Tomás Dominican Convent and School.

The room was superb! Location was great near the public transport train 12-15 min walk which we caught regularly to get downtown instead of the Uber! Restaurants are plentiful in the nearby shopping district a few blocks away. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. The only issue was getting a small washcloth 😂 They seem to be in short supply. Anyone considering should just bring their own as all other towels are supersized!

The hotel is in a lovely area, and we were expecting great things for the outside.

Check-in was fine but slow.

The bathroom had a real mould issue and smelled incredibly strong of damp and musk.

It was a wet room as disabled and obviously they are struggling to keep on top of it. It needs a refit fast.

The pool was just for pigeons including a dead on floating around.

It could be a great hotel but things seem to be slipping

They charged me for days I didn’t even stay there. Plus foreign transaction fees. Would not stay there again. Been having to fight with my bank over their ‘mistake’ or rather deliberate attempt to place fraudulent charges on my card months AFTER my stay of 3 days.

Loved the zen atmosphere, location, and all staff except for one grumpy waitress at breakfast on the second day. Water tasted bad, but no bottled water in the rooms. Air conditioning was not very strong during a heat wave so rooms were uncomfortable. No way to adjust it. The parador policy of forcing us to reserve a time for breakfast after a 10 hour flight is very stressful and inconvenient with jet lag. Particularly when the breakfast room is half empty.

For the price and considering it is a 4 stars hotel, they need to make some building updates. There wasn’t enough shampoo or towels in our room during the 4 nights we stayed. The pipes were smelly every time we went into our room. Also, the staff members were nice for the most part, but they don’t give you enough information about anything, really. It would be nice that they provide info about the hotel amenities, the spa and the surrounding area. Not a good welcoming experience. And when I asked a question about logistics to one of the staff members, one of them was very condescending. Overall okay.

A delightful stay!

We only stayed 1night. I wish we could have stayed a little longer to take advantage of the spa. It’s a beautifully repurposed old compound with thoughtful architecture & engineering. My only complaint was the hallway light kept flashing on and off -visible through our room window and it kept us awake all night. It would be perfect if the Parador could shade the hallway windows better at night.

This was a very modern Parador which did not fit in with the surroundings. It was almost too new-agey. But the location was excellent and the parking was easy, it cost 16 euro. The pool area was very nice and there were several young families there. We only stayed for 1 night because we were catching a flight from Barajas the next morning. I am glad we stayed in Alcala versus going back into Madrid because it was very easy to get to the airport from here.

Hotel is quite nice, but we visited in summer when it is quite hot and our room AC never got the room cool enough to sleep under the covers. No matter what we did the room stayed between 76-78F, 25C (not awful, but not easy to sleep in either). They sent the maintenance team out our second day after we asked for diagnosis and they told us everything looked normal and to be patient for it to cool, but it never cooled and now we are leaving. Unfortunate since the hotel is very nice otherwise.

Great stay, close to restaurants, historic places, and the center of town really, so the location is perfect.

I was surprised that a hotel of this caliber had no tea bags, coffee or way to boil water in the room. There was a cafeteria which had a very limited selection of foods— and they weren’t very tasty. Otherwise, since it’s Spain, one had to wait till 8:30 to eat dinner. I was constantly hungry here as it was hard to find anything to eat. I got tired of ham and cheese chunks for dinner! It was z big of s walk to get z simple bottle of water. The place is impeccably clean but has absolutely no charm or atmosphere.

This hotel is housed inside a well preserve historic convent. is recommended and while there one is able to feel the past glory of Alcala de Henares.

The room arrangement is somewhat of a labyrinth and also requires a lot of walking and using different elevators to access different parts of the hotel.

Don´t count on public transportation. We wasted too much time waiting on trains and buses. Ubers are readily available but $45 to get to Madrid or the airport.

I’ve never stayed in a Parador before, but would now try another. The De Alcala is very clean and modern, and in an area that allows easy walking to all sorts of bars and restaurants. The staff was friendliness and helpful. I’d recommend this hotel.

A lovely and characterful hotel

The hotel is set in the city centre and mainly used for business. It was out of season and the pool looked green so was not used. The rooms are fabulous but the beds are quirky and sleep is not easy to come by. Very hard mattresses, a 45 degree sloping head board , a bolster and a square cushion cannot be organised for sleeping but ideal for bed reading.

The location of the hotel is on a quiet street and walkable to all major attractions. There is a parking garage a block away so parking is convenient.
The size of the standard twin room is good for two people with not so many luggage. Front desk staff was helpful, restaurant serves decent food.
During our stay there are street sidewalk pavement constructions near the hotel but no big deal.
Stayed three nights, had a very nice time in Alcala De Henares. No complaints. I gave it an excellent rating for this stay.

Yesterday this would have been a glowing review. Arrogant and incompetent management ruin an otherwise lovely hotel. Financial processes are from 1970. Billing error on their part resulted in an amazingly rude exchange. They still refuse to acknowledge it was in any way their error or to apologize. Shame really. Rank and file employees are terrific. Stay somewhere else.

Rooms and building are very nice. But it is very far from Madrid. And there is no free breakfast, which I would expect when paying $130+ per night. Also the beds were 2 twins rather than 1 queen, and extremely low quality for such an expensive hotel. The rooms were super fancy but the beds had cheap, uncomfortable mattresses and very poor quality sheets.

Modern paradore near the airport

This is one of the modern paradores. Majority of the rooms are below ground level which is a bit unusual. Rooms are comfortable but not as spacious as those historical paradores. Breakfast is nice. The 14 Euro charge for parking is steep considering most patrons would need to come by car and there is no street parking nearby.

The property was great.

However, my family's experience in the restaurant was horrible. The four of us arrived at 8:30pm, with reservations. First, we were seated near the entryway of the restaurant, a location decidedly not in the main dining area. Interestingly, everyone else who subsequently arrived for dinner were seated in the main dining area. I would also note, that we were the only diners in that area of the restaurant. Once seated, we had to endure a full 45 minutes of waiting before we were able to order our first round of drinks. To add insult to injury, our meal arrived at least another 30-45 minutes late. Furthermore, upon arrival, it was incorrect. Essentially, while the food was good enough, no meal is worth the level of service/disrespect we received. It took a significant effort of self-restraint to resist simply canceling our dinner order and immediately walking directly to the hotel manager's office to deliver a personal complaint.

During check-out, I was asked about our stay. I provided the information
presented above. (synopsized version). The person at the front desk expressed sympathy while simultaneously asking for my credit card to pay for our dinner.

As this was our last night of a ten-day trip to Spain, I had hoped for much more.

The property is not even close as the picture It is completely different I was very surprise. After I checked in got the keys I went to the room the room was already occupied by somebody else.
The next day I check out I got an invoice for $275.00 Euros less than I paid to Expedia. Very surprise it was a quite of experience It is not what you advertise and the charges were more than if I have done the booking directly.

Beautiful place. All the details were perfect. Staff was outstanding. My husband and I stayed here at the end of our month long vacation in Europe. Modern Parador

Elegant stay for a weary traveler

After some hard traveling for two weeks I treated myself to the parador. It was magnificent to sleep in such elegant and comfortable surroundings. Even though it was a single room, there was so much space! A comfortable table and chairs and the perfect spot to do some computer work as well. After two weeks travel sleeping in such a big bed, and using a beautiful bathroom, it was a luxury beyond imagination to stay in this hotel.The staff was attentive. Check in simple and they held my backpack because I arrived early and the room wasn't ready. Thank you Parador de Alcalá de Henares
