We stayed here Mar 13-Mar 26, 2025. This is a beautiful hotel in the very heart of Alcala De Henares Spain. The restaurant on site was a wonderful place for food and the service was amazing. Two of the staff went way above to make us feel warm and welcome. Manuele Maggio was a stand out along with Helena. The rooms were very comfortable with lots of storage and a nice bathroom.

We lobed everything. The bathroom was a bit cold and the bed hard. But those are small things. We loved the location and beautiful interior of the hotel and our room. Comfy and simple. Antique and historic. Kind people and great eco friendliness.

Great location, very central, though car access is a bit of a pain. They do have an arrangement with an underground car park though, at a cost of €12 per day.

Definitely a unique location and hotel. Perfect size room with a desk, TV, mini fridge. It is an old building that has been maintained incredibly well. It is in an area that has many little shops and restaurants, patisseries and tapa bars. The only complaint is that it is about a 25 minute cab drive from the train station. we were not able to figure out a great option for traveling by the metro/bus system.

It’s a nice older hotel in the main center of Alcala. It was warm outside but the air conditioner inside the room worked well. Parking can be a little confusing if you’re from out of town but there are some 24 hour parking lots about a quarter-mile away that I found at a very reasonable rate. I will definitely stay here again.

Quaint little old hotel in the middle of the most beautiful amazing historic square. While not the most modern facility (thin walls and a noisy elevator) we found it very comfortable and convenient— and the staff was terrific. Look for the storks on the rooftops around the square.

Cannot beat the location and the beautiful historic building. The staff are very friendly and on top of things. Bed and pillows are comfortable and the restaurant is amazing. My only negative is the noise level. You can hear absolutely everything outside and inside, even with earplugs. It was okay for a couple of nights but the sleep quality was quite poor.

Check-in wasn’t sure what kind of room we had and told us to go check the room for ourselves. When we went up to our room, it only had 2 single beds. We reserved a family room with 3 beds. After travelling for 30+ hours to get there, we were told to wait for another 30minutes to make up another room. Hard on the kids when it was already 9pm. We had stayed at this hotel a couple of months earlier, paid for a cheaper room and it was nicer. Not really a hotel for families… :(

The location is amazing, right in the heart of the historic center. I loved the old world charm of the building and room, and it didn’t hurt that it smelled vaguely of cinnamon churros! I took one star only for the expensive breakfast and the sound of water running through pipes that I could hear at night.

Pauls nightmare in Alcala De Henares

There was a problem when i checked in as always when you are a single person travelling your room is in the attic or close to the lift. My first room was in the attic no ventilation and only small windows so i changed which the staff were a great help it was not until that evening did i notice the noise from the nearby lift and the stairs i asked if i could change again the young gentleman on reception gave me a key for a room opposite and i checked it out said it was fine and would pick up the key when i returned from my business later. When i arrived at the hotel the young girl on the reception said that if i wanted to change then i would have to pay more. I was not willing to do this but i will never use the hotel again and they have lost a lot of business not only from the rooms but also from group meals. My room number was 101

Our room was lovely and overlooked the square and apparently Cervantes wrote Don Quixote in it( so a member of staff assured us!?!!!)
Overall it was a great stay
Room for improvement would be the breakfast buffet, the cooked choice was revolting!
The coffee machine had run out 40 min before end of breakfast and wouldn't refill it or supply any though asked and theres a machine behind the bar!!
Another gripe,
Am disabled and had been assured parking was fine beforehand
However access to the street where the hotel is restricted so had to park in another street, husband found hotel then told we had to park in garage then getting out.....if your in a wheelchair it would be a nightmare as the slope is too sleep even for someone to push
Lucky I can walk but with luggage its still 200 yards to walk to Hotel and then we were told we had to pay for parking, it was the only hotel I have had to pay for disabled parking
Needs better communication.
The staff overall were very obliging

I like the location. It is in the very heart of the old city of Alcala de Henares, just steps away from the Plaza Cervantes and the House of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Close to many different restaurants and bars. I love the place.

The location was absolutely perfect. Right downtown Alcalá, on the same square as the old university, and one street over from the Plaza de Cervantes. The one unpleasant part is that you could hear the noise on the street at night, but that is something that can be solved by a good pair of earplugs.

Nice hotel with very informative receptionists and attentive to our needs and questions. One thing... room was unusually warm due to higher than avg temp for the time. The A/C compressor had been shut down for the fall-winter season. We opened the window and climate adjusted just fine as eve became cool. Very convenient location.

I stayed in Alcala de Henares for a conference and Hotel Bedel was an excellent choice. It is located near the university and the major markets; the staff was professional and efficient; and the price quite reasonable. It is close to the bus and train station, both with service to Madrid and the airport. Highly recommend.

Has a theme reflective of Don Quixote and old Spanish interior design. The layout is more home-y rather than a regular hotel. Beautiful woodwork throughout the halls and the hotel room.

Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. You should request to have a certain view however because the side rooms (the ones not facing the university or library) have views of the side of a building. Nothing more.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the reason why I didn't give them a perfect score was because often times I found myself waking up at night due to the noise. I know it's not necessarily something hotel staff can address but I think it would have been nice to know that when booking the hotel. The reason for the noise, I suspect, is due to the bars/restaurants in the area which tend to close late. Overall the experience was great, the hotel was clean and the staff was polite.

I did not try the food at the hotel but I recommend Indalo which is in the area for something cheap and good.

Great location and great view

The hotel is on one of the smaller plazas, but one of the prettiest. Our window opened up on the plaza. Great view and temperature. It was a noisy later, but part of the price you pay. Hotel terrace on the plaza great for drinks or food. Restaurant inside was also pleasant. Staff was very nice.
We had left something behind at another hotel and had it sent there. They received it for us, paid charges as a courtesy!

Amazing Location and LOTS of Charm

The plaza that the hotel was on was gorgeous. The hotel, especially for the price, was an incredible deal. The view from my window was beautiful any time of the day/night. There were often people up late in the plaza but it was gentle noise and not disturbing. There are historical things to see everywhere within walking distance and the train was an easy 3 Euro ride into Madrid (6 round trip). The front desk pointed out a bus to Madrid, but the train is much quicker and an easy walk to the station.

20 years ago I lived in Alcala and it has changed a lot. This hotel still has the old Spanish charm I remember, good service and good food.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the rooms are very large and well equipped. The only real drawback is the clock tower just opposite, with a bell that strikes every 15 minutes throughout the night! The plazas both to the front and the back of the building seem to be the main assembly point of Alcala's youth, which means quite a bit of additional noise, especially at weekends.

Hotel Husa El Bedel

The hotel was charming in its location in Alcala De Henares, Spain. It was located on one side of a square that people actually walked through and enjoyed the day and night. A wedding took place while there, and the bride and groom had pictures taken in and around the square. The food at a tavern/cafeteria located around the corner to the hotel was delicious. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The two day expericen was just wonderful. I highly recommend the Husa El Bedel to everyone.

We stayed at this hotel as our daughter was studying abroad at the local university. This is what Spain is all about that you wont find in the big cities. Local atmosphere and people are great but you better brush up on your Spanish as English is spoken rarely. Enjoy the local tapas that come free with one beverage at most of the local spots.

A wonderful experience.

My sister and I went to Spain to visit my daughter who is studying at the University in Alcala. We stayed for one week in March. The location of the hotel was excellent. The room was clean and the housekeepping staff did a wonderful job each day. We had a little problem understanding the heating and cooling system but we did regulate the temperature by opening and closing the window. Our room faced the from of the hotel which featured a nice little courtyard, however the first few nights of our stay many people gathered in the courtyard and stayed and talked to early hours of the morning. By Wednesday or Thursday night this seemed to stop. There was a nice little restaurant in the hotel which we did ot take advantage of but daily menues were posted in Spanish and in English. My sister and I do not speak Spanish. Some of the front desk people did speak some Spanish and we did not meet any of the restaurant staff that could speak English. My daughter had to do most of the talking whenever we were inquiring about something important. In general the beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. There was also an elevator available after long days of sight seeing. The downtown area of Alcala had many places to eat and shop and to simply stroll around in. We had a wonderful stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Spain for this reason. The bus and train transportation was also close and easily accessible.

Hotel El Bedel in Alcala de Henares

The hotel is in a great position for sight seeing around Alcala de Henares. It is very central, and so convenient for the university, where our daughter is studying for a year. It is a little tired and frayed around the edges, but reasonably comfortable and clean. the staff are helpful and pleasant - the only problem we had was that the dining room were not aware that we had paid for breakfast and tried to charge us again. Luckily we had our receipt with us to show we had already paid. Apart from that our stay was enjoyable and we will be returning in the near future.

Mi experiencia en Hotel El Bedel fue muy decepcionante. Me alojé 4 noches y reservé una habitación doble, indicando además por mensaje previo que quería cama de matrimonio. Al llegar, la habitación tenía dos camas separadas. En recepción me dijeron que el tipo de cama no se garantiza, que depende de la disponibilidad.
Tras discutir, nos cambiaron a otra habitación que resultó ser abuhardillada, sin ventanas, solo con dos pequeños huecos por los que apenas entraba luz. Un auténtico zulo. Estábamos muy cansados y esa noche nos quedamos. Más tarde comprobé que esa habitación correspondía a las habitaciones económicas, aunque en recepción intentaron venderla como una opción “mejor” y “con encanto especial”.
A la mañana siguiente volví a reclamar. De nuevo, la misma respuesta: que no se garantiza cama doble, que no hay disponibilidad, pese a haber numerosos check-outs ese día. Finalmente reconocen que sí hay habitaciones con cama de matrimonio, pero que son las superiores y hay que pagar un recargo. Tras insistir, acceden a cambiarnos.
Nunca había visto un hotel donde reservar sea una lotería y no puedas ni elegir cama doble o twin. Mala gestión, poca transparencia y trato poco honesto. Una pena porque la ubicación es muy buena.

En veldig koselig liten by, sjarmerende gater, fin gågate. Hotellet lå fint til rett ved en åpen plass og gågata, hvor det var fint å være både på ettermiddag og kveld. Mange restauranter å velge mellom. Koselig hotell, fin frokostsal, men litt begrenset matutvalg. De hadde likevel alt som trengs.
