I really liked the abundance of beach/pool chairs and sitting areas. The grounds were kept nice and clean and the trees/bushes were trimmed. Unfortunately the bushes and trees outside of our patio obstructed our view of the ocean and mountains. Wish they would've been trimmed more. The different available water activities were good. My wife ended up using the pedal boat and going on the glass bottom boat. The restaurant seemed like it could've had more food and more choices for the amount of people at breakfast and dinner every day. The night time entertainment was just ok.

We loved the place, gorgeous, well situated, private beach, the staff all look after you and do an amazing job cannot fault it, and there are plenty of staff. We just found the meats a bit hard to chew, but other that the food was good, plenty of it and nice and clean, we had a balcony overlooking the pool and the sea, the round was cleaned every day. The bay watch bar was brilliant the staff brilliant, they had something on every night, would definitely go back best holiday ever.

It’s a 4* hotel with a 5* service that was as good as I have experienced in a long time.
All the staff were Mauritian and the difference is so noticeable that when you go to other non-Beachcomber hotels where much of the staff is seasonably imported and the standards are so poor.
The location in Gran Baie was excellent for all the northern trips. The beach was nice. The A La Carte was exceptional. But the best benefit was you could use all the facilities and restaurants of the local sister hotels Viktoria & Canonier that were superb and where everything was equally as good. The restaurants were all magnificent.
We loved our stay at the Mauricia and will use Beachcomber again when we return to the La Morne area in a couple of years.

Firstly let me say the resort is beautiful with nice rooms and to 4 star standard. Our room had had a makeover and only slightly let down by the shower grout. A small issue and not important.
The room staff and the resort staff including reception were lovely, warm and friendly. The views from our room were spectacular. Lovely beach and pools and the pool activities were great with fab staff.
However whilst the food served was excellent the restaurant staff were anything but. It was like they didn't work for the resort- totally unengaged and not friendly at all. A couple of exceptions here- the omelette chef at the end of the service area and a few of the more mature staff were good but the rest were just awful. Multiple requests for coffee and any kind of service were met with a sullen look and often forgotten. Too focused on clearing tables and made us feel we were a nuisance. Chefs chatting to each other who got annoyed when you asked them to move to get to the food.

The room was very nice but we had some ants in there during our stay, I’m not sure if it’s everywhere or just our room.

Hotel is in a great location and easy to walk to shops etc. Bus stops are within 15 minutes walk. Beach is also great and very safe to swim in. The staff don't smile and feel as though you are a inconvenience. Perhaps that's their way. The team who look after the bags and take you to your room were excellent and remembered your name throughout the holiday. The restaurant is OK but we found the food bland but that's our taste. It is repetitive but they always have something themed and different. Seafood is excellent though. Restaurant staff need training in small details like please don't just clear away our plates and drinks without asking. If you see a baby at least get the high chair and small cutlery for them. Bhurud who looked after our room was excellent and very friendly. He kept our room in excellent order and nothing was too much trouble for him.

My wife and I enjoyed a week here. Its location is within walking distance of some local bars, restaurants and local supermarket/mall - about 15/20 min stroll.

The staff absolutely made the stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful always greeting with a smile. Reception came to us and checked us in whilst sat in the lobby rather than at the front desk, a nice personable touch with welcome drink. They even assisted with contacting the airport on our behalf with our delayed bags.

We had breakfast and dinner included. A really good variety which they altered to provide a bit of change - for dinner they had different themes like bbq themes Asian etc. We didn’t try the a la carte restaurant.

We used pretty much all the facilities that were included free as part of the stay - kayak, waterski etc. The only thing we didn’t try was the paddleboard as it was a little windy that day.

They also provide activities throughout the day like swimming pool exercises, yoga, stuff for kids etc.

The spa was amazing. We visited twice for a massage and one with a body scrub.

Only couple of small minor things: bar is open until 11pm. They have singing, entertainment etc which I believe most of the rooms face onto. It didn’t bother us much, but note it can be loud if you want an early night. A few flies were around the restaurant which could’ve been better attended to but nothing major given it’s all open air.

Decent Hotel in fantastic area.

Superior Room - 8/10. Decent size. Clean. Thinnish walls. Did hear our neighbours quite regularly.
Bathroom - 8/10. Clean. Separate toilet which was a bit cosy.
Bed - 8/10. All ok. Comfy but pillows were a bit soft.
WiFi - 9/10. No issues. Often reached down to the beach.
Gym - 9/10. Equipment a little dated but decent hygiene set up under Covid conditions.
Evening Entertainment - 9/10. Very good nearly every night. Full marks to the exceptional covers singers and house band and to the close-up, table magician.
Staff - 10/10. ALL staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. ALL staff always strictly adhered to their own Covid rules. Masks were worn, hands were cleansed etc.
Hotel - 9/10. Lovely view of the bay and the grounds were immaculately looked after.
Buffet - 7/10. A slight disappointment. Breakfast was the same everyday. Lunches and dinners were very similar. Couldn’t help but feel there should have been a bit more variety. After-dinner cheese option only came out once, consisting of two types of cheese. This was heavily marshalled by the only cheese police I’ve ever encountered. Desserts were decent quality and we never went hungry.

Other points to make… Dress code was long trousers for the evenings. I don’t do formal, so checked before hand that smart jeans were ok - which they were. The first night came and people were wearing pretty much what they wanted. And the only other niggle was that mask-wearing was never enforced.
Would definitely recommend.

The Good The Bad and the Ugly

Hotel was very good, but we arrived just before the Corona 19 lockdown. We had to leave 4 days early because of flights being cancelled. When we asked for a refund or credit for a future visit, they referred us to Hotels.com with whom we have been unable to make contact. Also wrote to Beachcomber but nobody is responding!!!

Overall a great hotel and would stay here again. The property is beautiful, the food was delicious and the included water activities are a nice touch. That being said, there were some issues that reminded you that you were not at a 5 star hotel. For instance, the staff, especially at reception were unhelpful and unfriendly. We tried to get directions to an excursion that was a 5 min walk way, and no one was willing to help us! I also asked for an iron one day, and they told me I'd have to go down to the basement and use the iron and ironing board down there. Very strange!

Nice location and within a short walking distance to the shops and restaurants. Nice breakfast and dinner with a wide selection of desserts at dinner. Quiet a few activities at the beach front including free glass boat and snorkeling trips. Pool was clean and of decent size. Breakfast and dinner can get crowded. One feedback for the management will be if tables are reserved perhaps to leave a reservation sign on the table. Overall enjoyed our stay at the resort.

I liked having multiple pools + a very calm, child-friendly beach. I liked the very impressive multi-lingual staff. Almost every staff member spoke at least 2 languages, and it was easy to communicate in French or English. The Italian and German guests also seemed to have no trouble.

I did not like the lack of bins, forcing guests to carry rubbish back to their rooms to dispose of. I did not like the fact that the rooms had only 2 options for climate control; Air conditioning on and air conditioning off, with no further ability to set the temperature. I did not like being hassled at the buffet meals when I was with my young daughte. We were often told we were too early, too late, and the staff often tried to control the high-chair she was using. Maybe they were trying to be overly helpful, but it felt like they were encouraging us not to come to mealtime with a young child.

Great choice of food each night and with half board you can use the a la cArte restaurant for no extra charges , with really top quality meals.

The hotel is superb.Friendliest staff ever.We. really enjoyed our stay..only negative thing was the airconditioner that was running all day.When we switched it off electricity tripped,but the technical guys sorted it out in no time..we had to live on medication the whole stay since we have sinuses problem..otherwise everything else was 100%!!!!

Food was not good quality, needs more taste or better chefs? For the price of half board i was not getting value for money - i would have paid just bed and breakfast and then had dinner out in Grande Baie restaurants.

the hotel really needs and upgrade of facilities.

the website said there would be room service and there was not. The ironing facilities were that of a military recruit base and not a four star accommodation. The bed was old and sank in the middle badly. The room was constantly filled with mosquitoes and my wife and i were bit often. the staff was restaurant staff in the mornings was very friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for eight nights. Overall we enjoyed our time here. The hotel provides a number of free activities which we took advantage of. Snorkeling, glass bottom boat etc. We ate breakfast at the hotel each day and found this to be varied and good quality. Dinner we ate only twice as it is expensive if this is not included in the board paid for. Service was excellent overall, the team were both friendly and helpful. Our criticisms are that our bed was very very hard and we were counting down the nights till we were in our own. Although the hotel provides live entertainment every night, and advertises this we didn't expect to have music so loud till midnight mist nights. Our room overlooked the garden and pool area but even if it hadn't, you would have heard the music wherever your room was. Probably not a good idea if you were bringing young children as they would never be able to get to sleep. The beach is lovely, the pool is lovely and clean. The bathroom looking a bit worn, mould between the tiles and no fan, low ceiling. We would stay here again but request a room far from the madding crowds.

i have stayed at this hotel before and for what I had payed for the night was excellent value for this type of hotel. Although the room needed a bit of a face lift I can't complain as the facilities are excellent and it was cheap. I would recommend any of the beachcomber hotels.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We loved all the water-sports that were included in the package deal. It is very central to the main street which you can walk to via the beach. Beautiful pools and fantastic location.

The 'Beachcomber' brand enticed me to book this hotel. However, i was very disappointed. Having previously stayed at the Le Meridien, and Intercontinental Hotels in Mauritius, I chose the Le Mauricia for its' location. This hotel is in dire need of an upgrade. the ambience in the room leaves a lot to be desired. The things we have become accustomed to, as part of the package, are non-existent, eg. complimentary water, shower cap, etc. We even found a live rat in our room. Apparently this is par for the course at this hotel. Although language is a serious barrier, the staff did their best - under the circumstances. The breakfast buffet was not inventive. The same old fare every day. No creativity. I was totally disappointed with this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel from 28/12/14 to 3/01/15. The hotel, swimming pools and restaurants are great. The surrounding neighbourhood around Grand Baie is a bit run down. The staff are very helpful, although some still need training to get up to Western standards. Doubt we'll book this hotel again as there are so many other appealing hotels in Mauritius to try. Nonetheless, we had a great time.

Overall the hotel was OK. There are a few things you need to be wary of which we were not told.
If you do not get the all inclusive package eating at the buffet was ridiculously expensive. The staff did not notify us of how much it was ( we only had a small salad each) and when we got the bill it worked out to be $75 each!!!!

Also the tour guides that are in the hotel were very helpful but this is an outsourced company that chargers a very high commission. The hotel staff will not book anything for you you have to do it all through the tour guides which are only there from 8:30-5pm. I would look into other ways of booking tours.

Quite ordinary

I booked this hotel because of its location. There are shops and places for eat within walking distance, so the location wise is great.
What I noticed is the service. Carrying 4 star, the service is just practical and nothing impressive. No wifi in the room was inconvenient and does not make sense for the price I paid.
The room is however clean and they have nice pools.

Comfortable resort with plenty of options

We used the resort as a base to explore Maurtius. On our days off there were plenty of activities available at Le Mauricia. Water sports abound, snorkeling, diving, skiing or swimming in the warm ocean or sparkling pool kept us busy on our lazy days.

Average hotel to my standard.

At first the hotel appeared luxurious. We were welcome in fine style. The staff were very friendly at all times, from the cleaners, gardeners, waiters and the reception area. Our room appeared clean only for the bathroom which were riddle with mould between the tiles and a puddle of water in our shower that failed to drain away. We did report this incident a couple of times to no action being taken.
Our pen fell on the floor and landed next to a pair of socks from a previous occupant. So I am not sure how much effort were put into the room being cleaned.
We had a day of cyclone alert which was no fault of the hotel but I felt that the hotel could have advise their guest and provided some indoor activities to pass the time.
The surrounding garden were well maintained.
I went with the attitude that no matter what, we were going to have a great time.
All in all I had a pleasant stay.

Very nice hotel. Beautiful location

This is a very nice hotel with lot of activities in a beautiful location. It has a private beach from one side. From the othjer side it is located near Grand Bay center. They are offering many sea sport activities that are included in the room price. You can take Kayak, Pedal boat, Glass boat, shnorkeling and many other activities. The atmosphere is nice. Live music every night. Room is quite big and nice. Breakfast and dinner food are good.

This was a wonderful resort that made our trip to Mauritius so great. The room was comfortable and the resort facilities were excellent. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely come back.

Good location

We loved our stay at Le Mauricia. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a bit dated and the towels were not the best, it just lacked the little things that add to the luxury feel, but we got over all that very quickly as the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The view from our room was magical, loved waking up to the sound of the waves and rustle of the coconut trees. Le Mauricia is ideally located to shops and restaurants to which we walked everyday. We loved Mauritius and the only complaint we have of our stay is that there are a lot of stray dogs roaming the streets, which is distressing to see. We would stay at Le Mauricia again.

NIce hotel, right on the beach

I've stayed at many hotels overseas and as a comparison for the price, the hotel facilities were excellent and the location was amazing. The staff were friendly. The rooms were your standard level and the views from the room of the ocean were great. The room did have a musty damp smell, which I had read online also from other experiences. You seem to get used to it after a while though!! This was my only negative experience. There were daily activities around the pool area, with music. I enjoyed it, but if you want a quiet relax, you can move to the beach area, which is also beautiful. The buffet breakfast was consistently good, but a variety every day would be appreciated.

Lovely hotel with good service

The room was a bit smelly on first entering but this did not remain a problem. Also the hot water took over 5 minutes to come through once the shower was on. The room was otherwise clean and very nice with a lovely view from the balcony. Slept well which is unusual for me. No noise, great blackout curtains & comfortable bed. I felt safe & there was a significant presence of security. The buffet, both breakfast & dinner, was extensive. Great service. Really enjoyed my stay, wish it had been longer. Would recommend it & would stay there again.

Good Hotel, Nice beach

We stayed there for almost 7 days, the location of this hotel is excellent. It was nice hotel but rooms were little less spacious.
The view from balcony was awesome. The hotel food was very expensive and buffet repeated on daily basis without any change in the menu. Room services are not like any 4 star hotel but overall its very nice hotel. I personally like swimming pool and the private beach.

I will recommend this hotel and wish to stay there again.

A big resort but with a beautiful aspect.

It is a big resort and so looses a little of that friendliness that you get with a smaller hotel. You have a choice of b&bs, half or full board. Most people were on the full board and were well catered for. We went bed and breakfast as we like to eat out of the hotel. If you want to go that way there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance and cheaply priced. You can buy beer and wine from the local supermarket a short walk away. If you decided you want to eat or drink in the hotel it is no more expensive than in Australia. Plenty of water sports including motorized which are free, our daughter 11 learnt to water ski!
