A little slice of paradise

This a truly lovely hotel and we had a fabulous two week stay.
The location is fantastic you can easily walk into Grand Baie for dinner or shopping. It was easy to find and ideal for exploring the island.
The views from the pool and the beach are of the stunning harbour, where there is lots of boats coming and going, which was fun to watch.
The hotel grounds and communal areas are very classy and well maintained. The hotel activities were really well organised by an excellent team, we attended rum tasting and a cooking demonstration. Our apartment was lovely and kept very clean, with excellent AC.
All of the staff we met were lovely, they seemed happy to be there and enjoyed talking to the guests which makes for a very pleasant stay. I would especially like to thank the ladies in the hotel shop who looked after me very well. The parking was handy too as we hired a car.
The only tiny problem we came across for the whole stay was the beach bar lunchtime food, it seemed very badly organised, taking up to an hour for food to arrive, it was lovely when we eventually received it.
I would recommend this hotel as a really great place to stay, don’t hesitate to book.

The best out of all the Veranda hotels on the Island. It is almost a boutique hotel with lovely room decor and finishes with a warm tropical ambience. Nice location on a small attractive strip of beach and a great pool. The staff are amazing and certainly an improvement on when I last visited in 2016. The only slight disappointment is the main restaurant where the buffet breakfast is only acceptable and not the vast range and variety of the larger hotels but the dinner buffet is a let down. The salad selection is poor and the mains are not great and lacking in variety and poorly prepared and served.
It is the ambience and decor and staff that make this place amazing only let down by the restaurant.

From the moment we arrived at Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa, we were enveloped in a sense of genuine warmth and hospitality that truly set the tone for our entire stay. The welcome we received from the staff was nothing short of amazing – warm smiles, gracious greetings, and a sincere eagerness to make us feel right at home.

The check-in process was one of the most intimate and pleasant we’ve ever experienced. Rather than feeling transactional or rushed, it was relaxed and personalized, making us feel like valued guests rather than just another booking. We appreciated the attention to detail and the thoughtful way everything was explained to us.

Throughout our stay, every member of the staff continued to impress us with their friendliness and professionalism. Whether we were passing by reception, dining, or simply relaxing on the property, we were always met with warm greetings and helpful attitudes. It’s clear that the staff take real pride in creating a positive experience for guests, and it made a big difference in how enjoyable and relaxing our time was.

We left feeling incredibly refreshed and well taken care of, and it’s largely thanks to the incredible team at Veranda Grand Baie. We can’t wait to return.

Stayed here March 2025 for business. The pictures of the rooms online look nothing like the actual rooms. We booked a family room with the separate seating area and double beds. We got an approx 300sq/ft room with one queen bed and a hanging bamboo curtain separating two single beds - they showed us the other options which frankly were even worse. I cannot stress enough how shockingly inaccurate the online advertisements of this hotel are. We did not have hot water for most of the week. There were cockroaches in the bathroom regularly.

The common areas are fairly nice and the food at the buffet is acceptable but nothing to write home about. The bars are rarely tended, so be prepared to typically wait 5-10 mins for drink service while they track down a bartender.

To call out a couple positives: the staff were very nice and we had one dinner at the Lobster Restaurant on the beach which I would rate fairly highly.

Overall, not a great experience and not what I would expect for $250 /night. I would not stay here again, the quality does not warrant the pricetag.

Finally, be cautious when you checkout. They sneak a \"charity charge\" on your invoice without calling it out (~$25). It's for a number of local non-profits which ultimately I donated to but it certainly would have preferred that it had been communicated.

The hotel is beautiful and we loved the position. We had a privilege room which was lovely, close to the pool/reception and thankfully meant we weren’t disturbed by the bar/restaurant next door. The staff were in the main really nice and friendly but often quite slow/disorganised. Drink orders sometimes took forever to arrive, something was forgotten at least half the time, the wrong drink delivered etc. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style and I found it quite off putting that the food is uncovered when there are a lot of flies and birds in the restaurant area. A few people we spoke to (us included) had dodgy tummies for a couple of days. Lunch was a la carte and better. The cost of drinks and food for those not on all inclusive is extortionate meaning the hotel bar was pretty dead in the evening. Some of the evening musical entertainment was brilliant (the band of 3 particularly).

Great location for access by foot to Grand Baie. Just the right amount of sunbeds by the pool and on the private bit of beach. Free waterports - kayaking, paddle board, snorkeling and glass bottomed boat trip. Enjoyed the breakfast, other food was ok. (Recently?) renovated in a beautiful colonial style but there were some small things in our room which could have had more care taken over. Had been cleaned in a hurry for our check-in so a fee things were dusty and there was a wet cleaning cloth left just inside the door. Service was mostly good and all the staff were super friendly but just a touch too slow at times. Gave us a packed breakfast for our early flight but the sandwiches were stale. Overall we loved how relaxing the hotel felt and the style and would return for the right price.

Beautiful hotel we hope to return to

We arrived 6 days after the hotel had reopened following its refurbishment. It was a shame we weren’t offered early check-in as we arrived at 10am, and although check-in was 2pm, our room was not ready until 5pm as there was a mix up. However, once in our ‘privilege’ room, we were very impressed with how beautiful, modern and spacious it was. It was cleaned to a high standard every morning and we had a turndown service each evening. We loved the different towel art! It was obvious that the hotel was not finished when we arrived, furniture and plants were missing, and minor work was taking place across the duration of our stay. By the end of our stay, the finishing touches were almost complete, and the hotel and its decor throughout looked absolutely stunning. We were also very impressed with how clean the entire hotel was. The infinity pool and private beach were picture perfect. Fresh beach towels were provided each day on the sunbeds. The dining room was spacious and had amazing sea views. We felt very safe in the hotel as it had plenty of security. Being able to go on the glass bottom boat, use the kayaks and use the stand up paddles was amazing - thank you! We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious buffet breakfast which had so many options, as well as the drinks selection, fruit bar and evening entertainment. The hotel had so many staff available at all times and they were very friendly and chatty. We would particularly like to thank Eric, Jensen and Alix for looking after us.

Older style resort with many coconut palms, grass, plants surrounding bungalow type accommodation blocks spread over a large area.Very comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating..Twin pools, small beach area, free sports activities, located at end of beach area so quiet but good location never less.Only let down was the breakfast (2.5 *) and from observation only the lunch & dinner options and quality.Two excellent local restaurants ( Indian & Italian) within 5 minutes walk on main road plus others in main shopping area. Overall a nice quiet stay.

Informative and friendly staff. Flexible on early check in. Good quality food and service. Attractive gardens and great views over the bay. Room did not have much natural daylight and the internal lighting was poor - and little space for suitcases. But, overall, a very enjoyable stay and we plan to return.

Lovely stay for a friend's wedding

The rooms were nice and we had a lovely time apart from the ants in the shower when we arrived, but sorted quickly. Staff were polite and helpful, although drinks orders occasionally took a while they were served with a smile. There is a little town that is worth a wander into and hiring a taxi to explore is definitely worth it as you get to enjoy the views.

Excellent mid-range hotel with good rooms, generous buffet breakfast, good service, small private beach, great pools, free water craft, modest gym, free wifi, 5 minute walk to supermarket, 10-15 minute walk to town. We had a \"Superior Room\" with breakfast at a good price compared with other hotels. Room (no. 500) smelt slightly damp at first, but ok with windows open.

This is an amazing hotel. They have went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable at their hotel. The entertainment was wonderful in the evenings. The location is very central to everything. All staff at the hotel were friendly and made the stay so much more personal and special. It's not 5-star, but they go out of their way for you.

Staff cannot do enough for you. Buffet evening meal is four times a week with the other three a la carte. Had one meal we could not eat meat so tough. They will cook you something if you do not like what is on the buffet. You have to sign for everything some times it gets overbearing. Only kettle in room bring your own tea/coffee.

Great little hotel!

Kids club was really good, which meant my girlfriend and I could have some intimate time. We also made use of the boating facilities. The pools were good. There was a really nice beach around the corner. The red wine was chilled for some bizarre reason. The steak and chips was really good. The evening entertainment was good, lots of dancing.

This is an excellent resort. The staff are absolutely amazing and very willing to please you in every situation. My husband is a very fussy eater, and they were very helpful in accommodating his needs. From the moment we got there we were given food and drinks. They gave us the best welcome I have ever received from any holiday I've been on. Everyone had a smile on their face - the setting was just perfect.
Food was wonderful. Great variety and very tasty. Only word of advise... HOT SAUCE if you like your food very spicy. The meals are very lacking in heat so that it suits everyone's tastes, which is fine. But we like our food very spicy and required it. Breakfast is especially amazing. Ameeta, the cook, she is absolutely fantastic.
Private Beach on the small side, but very intimate and beautiful. It has a great view and was exactly what we needed. They have good facilities for the beach, i.e. benches, shading, cushions, etc. Good security to warn away any sellers. They have a boathouse where you can book any excursions or book any of the water sport facilities
Spa - WOW!!! Amazing!!! My husband and I both feel asleep during the Mauritian massage. We had a full body one and foot treatment. We were there for an hour and a half. We also had full access to the other facilities, e.g. sauna, jacuzzi, etc. So we were there for a few hours. Beautiful staff and very welcoming.

The Veranda Grand Baie Hotel is a good family holiday destination. The facilities are good but not excellent. We particularly liked the Kids Club, the Pool and the Boat House facilities. From time to time there were somewhat noisy groups, particularly at weekends. The evening entertainment was not to our taste, however some people seemed to enjoy it. Happily it ended at a reasonable hour and enabled the more senior members of our family to get some sleep.
Our one disappointment was the lack of variety in the food on offer at the Buffet, some of which left a lot to be desired. for example, roast beef that was akin to shoe leather. They could have made more of some excellent fish dishes.

I check in @9pm. They took my bag to the room while I was having dinner. At 10pm when I wanted to go to my room, I could not as they were then checking the A/C. At nearly 11pm, I asked them to leave the system as such as they were unable to fix it. No other room available.
And to add insult to injury, it seems that I have lost a perfume from my bag. Cannot prove but it was there when I entered the hotel...

Fantastic location. Strolling distance to all that you might need. Great view of the bay. The hotel size lends its self to a nice sence of privacy...not over crowded. Rooms were maintained to an excepatble standard everyday. I did not like the fact that coffee sachets in the room were an extra charge and that you dont get any complimenatary lotions...as with most establishments in ZA & SZ.

comfortable clean rooms, friendly helpful staff, lovely pool and surrounds. Unfortunately we felt let down by the consistency and amount of the food at the evening buffet. while breakfast was lovely with a variety of choice....the evening meal was sometimes not of a high standard. Some nights there was a good variety of choice with a good amount, other nights there was not enough variety and poor quantities, that quickly ran out and not replaced,(especially the sweets ) also some of the food was quite bland with not much favour, compared to other resorts we have stayed in on the island. The other issue we has was having to pay for tea bags, coffee sachets and creamer in our room. However despite the previous statement, we still had a lovely relaxing holiday and loved being able to walk to the town.

This hotel was a super choice for a holiday. Location was good, close to town centre and shops. The layout of the hotel was good-we were in a quiet area away from the pool, overlooking the garden which was well maintained, as indeed the whole hotel was. Our room was spacious, most comfortable and cleaned daily and had small flower arrangements left frequently on the bed. Overall, the staff in this hotel could not do enough for guests, they were truly fantastic. We stayed on All Inclusive for part of our holiday, and the food was of a good standard, changing every night and the entertainment was good-not too in your face. I cannot fault this hotel again, in any thing, and if we return to Mauritous again, we will definitely stay in the Veranda

Lovely hotel for couples families

We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights with the all inclusive package. The hotel was clean and had a variety of activities. The hotel is fairly small with two pools and a part of the beach allocated to it, the location isn't great if you want to swim as there are a lot of boats around. However we didn't find this an issue as the activities allowed us to venture further out and there are a lot of other beautiful beaches in Mauritius.Food was good for breakfast and dinner as it was usually a buffet however the lunch menu was limited on the all inclusive package. You were able to choose other options at an extra cost. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend the hotel and would go back.

Fantastic beach holidays

We spent two weeks at Veranda from 04.09.13 to 16.09.13 and were thrilled of the warm welcome if the staff. The food was delicious and very healthy. The only unfortunate incident that we had in Room 414 was that the last night that we slept there, we heard rats in the ceeling which were actually keeping us awake. Otherwise we can recommend it to anyone.

This is a resort and it feels like it. Staff is very friendly but not informed about anything. They even got my order wrong at the restaurant. The pool isn't heated which means swimming isn't an option. There isn't a proper beach but other great beaches are very close. The rooms aren't the cleanest, particularly the bathrooms. Despite all this, I would still recommend the hotel. The price was great and I had a great time there.

This a pleasant hotel, well situated on the side of the Grand Baie area of Mauritius. The rooms are basic but clean with air con and a ceiling fan. They all have a balcony. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is of very good quality. The sunbathing areas are around the 2 pools and on a sandy platform above the sea. There are 2 small sandy approaches into the sea which remains sandy underfoot for a good distance. There are plenty of water borne activities available. My one gripe is that, apart from BBC World News, all the TV programmes are in French...it is very much a resort for French package tourists. All the staff, however, speak both English and French so communication is no problem.

We stayed for three nights, but they charged us for tea and coffee sachets which were replaced in the room daily. That was ridiculous.!!! Also no room chappels were provided. Sampoos and Cream were not replaced on daily basis in the bathroom

Not a family oriented hotel

Don't bother with grand bay as its full of tourist shops and eateries and spas. Hotel claims to have beach facing rooms - only one does... Infact there is no beach. All 5 meters of it are usually where all the boat equipment is parked. You can't swim into the beach as you will be run over by boat traffic. Rooms are modern designed but poorly laid out and cleanliness is not spot on.. Curtains had stains. Bed sheets were ripped, floor was covered in dust. We were there for 4 nights and our requests to just mop the floor were ignored so we would clean it ourselves with used towels... Rooms don't have complimentary water. No wifi OR gsm network coverage inside the room. Coffee and tea only refilled once during your stay. Pestering taxi and tour touts in abundance.

Although the staff was kind, they were NOT forthcoming with necessary information needed by the guests. It would have been helpful to actually INFORM us of information that wasn't posted, but important/relevant. Charging for incidentials such as ice was an unpleasant surprise as well!

loud music every night in your room

Every night until 23.00 h there is very loud music in the general (restaurant)areas which you hear in the room. Not enough sun beds available for the guests. The general Grand Baye area is cheap and tacky, best to be avoided (although we were out of season - end of January/early February - when most local shops/restaurants are closed, but in season it must be really a hell). Choose any other location on Mauritius; we also stayed in resorts on the westcoast (Wolmar) and the eastcoast (Belle Mare) which are all much nicer.

This hotel was welcoming and very chilled. We wanted a relaxed holiday and the beach and pool facilities were inline with our expectations. The food was good and a variety of buffet for the evening meal with lots of choice. The service was generally ok but sometimes the service of drinks was slow even when there seemed plenty of staff!
This was a late booked holiday for us but was a great hotel away from our busy everyday lives - Thank you for the break.

Great Grand Baie

We were extremely satisfied with this place. It is great value for money and well worth staying. It is not a top resort but you get the next best thing. Please make sure you ask or pay for an upgrade to a beach view room. It is definitely worth it as they are larger rooms with a great outlook. The service was fantastic and the meals are nice. although after the 4th dinner, it did get a bit repetitive. Just be aware that Mauritians don't eat a lot of sugar or salt so westerners, you are forewarned. They don;t have fresh milk or cream either, everything is powered. The brewed coffee in the morning at breakfast is bearable but you wont find anything else that you can drink.
If you are going into the nearest town, take the bus or TELL the taxi driver you will only pay 1/3 of the first rate you are given and stick to it. if they wont come down, start walking and you will have a taxi approach you within in 2 mins. Be prepared to be ripped off by taxi drivers and make sure you set the price first.

Siamo tornati dopo tanto tempo in questo resort per trascorrere il nostro 30° anniversario di matrimonio ed immediatamente siamo stati stupefatti dalla calorosa accoglienza dimostrataci dal tutto lo staff, in particolare Ajay è stato veramente gentile nei nostri confronti.
La struttura è immersa in parco tropicale con una bella piscina con vista su Grand Baie, una delle migliori località di Mauritius dove è possibile fare shopping ed anche passeggiare la sera.
L’hotel offre la possibilità di praticare svariati sport acquatici molti dei quali gratuiti. C’è anche una piccola palestra, un campo per giocare a bocce, tavoli da ping pong e la possibilità di noleggiare delle bici.
La cucina è internazionale a buffet, come anche la colazione: entrambe sono molto ricche e complete; per i più romantici, c’è anche la possibilità di cenare a lume di candela direttamente sulla spiaggia del resort (cosa che consigliamo vivamente di fare).
L’intrattenimento serale prevede musica dal vivo, alcuni spettacoli di danza locale e la possibilità di sorseggiare un drink al bar “La Crique” direttamente sulla spiaggia godendosi un meraviglioso tramonto.
Le camere sono ben spaziose e complete di televisore, frigo bar e asciuga capelli, dotate anche di comodi ventilatori a soffitto in alternativa all’aria condizionata che è comunque disponibile.
Mauritius rappresenta una meta da sogno dove il mare e la spiaggia sono un vero paradiso e le possibili escursioni nell'interno con panorami mozzafiato

Mycket nöjd med vår vistelse på 1 vecka. Jättefint poolområde med en poolbar där du också kunde äta lunch. Liten strand och lite vassa stentrappor ner till vattnet men fin botten och ljuvligt vatten. En del solsängar i mindre bra skick men de byttes ut under vår vecka så jättebra! Frukostbuffen jättefin och fanns allt. Vi åt lunch några gånger och jättegod mat dock kanske lite onödigt dyr men är ju ofta så på hotell. Bra läge med gångavstånd in till Grand Baie med många restauranger! Fanns även ett gym som var fräsht. Vi skulle absolut vilja bo här igen och kan rekommendera det!

Very nice hotel with beautiful interior design that creates a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and serviceminded as well. We also enjoyed that there were different activities at the hotel (biking trips, volleyball, Ping pong table, library etc.).

Som en oase, helt fantastisk! Lite resort med masse positiv oppmerksomhet fra de ansatte! Fasilitetene bar preg av å vøre nyoppusset og det var virkelig flott der, både rommene og fellesarealene. Vi bodde i et rom som hadde balkong mot basseng og havet, utrolig vakkert! Maten var god og drikken like så

Abbiamo amato soggiornare presso questa struttura, ogni singolo dettaglio.
Nonostante avessimo scelto solo la colazione come servizio ci siamo fermati più volte per cenare presso entrambi i ristoranti e siamo rimasti sbalorditi, tutto buonissimo e ampia scelta gastronomica (eravamo già rimasti sbalorditi dalla colazione per cui è stato davvero piacevole poter apprezzare allo stesso modo anche la cena).
Un grazie speciale ad uno degli chef della colazione che puntualmente mi preparava la mia omelette speciale (le migliori mai mangiate in vita mia), a chi si è preso cura di noi al nostro arrivo e facendomi trovare una sorpresa a cena il giorno dopo del mio compleanno (poiché il giorno stesso eravamo fuori) e al nostro caro amico del bar che ogni sera ci preparava i nostri old fashioned e baileys senza ghiaccio tra risate e racconti reciproci, hai reso indimenticabile la nostra vacanza! Spero te lo riferiscano anche dopo aver letto questa recensione!
Abbiamo usufruito anche dei servizi snorkeling e pedal boat, gentilmente seguiti e supportati dai ragazzi della spiaggia, pronti a fare in modo che l’attività scelta ti rendesse felice.
Per 15gg ci siamo sentiti come a casa, perciò grazie di tutto dal cuore.
Torneremo, con un membro in più in famiglia.
Unica nota “negativa” che ci sentiamo di riferire ma più come un consiglio: al momento del check-out ci siamo sentiti non molto apprezzati da chi era in reception e ci è spiaciuto andare via con questa sensazione.
