Mixed.At all times remind yourself that this is a 3* hotel! When you squint your eyes, the setting fools you into thinking you're at a far fancier establishment. This messes with your expectations.
Positive first- The island is beautiful. The views are spectacular. Breakfast is good. Boat to Rovinj is regular and on time.

Negative - 1. Accessibility is poor. Lift doesn't stop at the lobby.
2. Rooms are large and clean - but old. Peeling paint, broken fittings and 1980's furnishings all show that the hotel's budget and maintenance has slipped.
3. Food at dinner is poor, it's a buffet. It's clean and fresh but again, it's low budget per head stuff.
4. Staff - not all, but some are really miserable.
5. Beaches - rocky - not strictly the hotel's problem but Rovinj has a problem with slimy algae bloom that sticks to your skin went you swim in the sea.
6. The pool. it hasn't been maintained - cracked tiles and rusty patches. To prevent the spread of algae, the water in the pool is incredibly salty which makes your eyes sting.
7. Non hotel guests - The island itself is public and quite properly day visitors come to the island to chill. They use the hotel grounds and services which means that on a busy day or on a day when the algae is bad they use the hotel pool area limiting access to sunbeds. Staff don't care or are scared to intervene when visitors behave badly. Teens jumping from an ornamental bridge into a shallow kids pool.

While the island and outdoor areas are beautiful, the hotel rooms are extremely dated, not clean and not as pictured. Getting to and from the island is easy via ferry but cumbersome to do anything. The food at the hotel was also not great so we had to go into town for every meal. I was truly disappointed at the quality of the rooms- very dated, sparse, not at all nice or luxurious- was also dirty

The place could be amazing, its exterior is fantastic, great views, and fabulous potential. Needs updating, upgrading, and complete remodel. Staff are rude, barman outright hostile even when asking for a drink.
The buffets are so mediocre that the only reason to have breakfast there is that there is no other option.
This has been the most expensive place we stayed in Croatia and its accommodations were the worst: soviet-era mattress, shower that cannot fit a large person, furniture from the 1970s or 1980s, A/C that can wake a troop of tired soldiers, and towels you wouldn't use to dry your dog.

Absolutely gorgeous property - island !! Hotel and rooms are ready for a re-do updating. With some investment this property could easily become a de-luxe category it deserves based on its exclusive location.
Day-visitors / bathers should not be allowed in order to give your guests the privacy they deserve and are paying for.
We had a great experience / super friendly and helpful staff at reception, housekeeping and transportation areas. Keep up the good work.
We will come back to stay on the island for sure!! Thank you.

Lovely hotel on a small island which is kept in good order. The boat to and from the island leaves promptly every hour, from 5 am until after midnight and takes 3-4 mins to reach Rovinj. The boat is free for hotel guests. The large swimming pool and surrounding area is very clean with plenty of sunbeds. Also lots of sunbeds on the lawn and beaches around the island. The food in restaurant is varied and well prepared. We were glad to have taken half board as it was brilliant value. Our room was fairly basic but large and comfortable with a good fridge. The balcony was huge with a partial sea view. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

A room with a view

We had an amazing one-night stay at this island resort hotel that is just a few minutes by ferryboat from old town Rovinj. The grounds are beautiful, facilities well maintained, great swimming, and frequent transit to the mainland. We opted for half-board, which included dinner and breakfast in the hotel dining room, and we were quite satisfied with the selection and quality of the food. Would definitely stay here again, especially if we could have a room with a view of Rovinj again!

Beautiful island hotel, easily accessible to/from Rovinj by private ferry. Rooms were a little basic but large, with lots of closets and balconies offering great views. A/C and bathrooms were fine. Nice walking paths and gardens to explore on the island, as well as pools and a beach. Buffet breakfast with a large selection was included. Overall, the beauty of the location made this hotel really stand out.

OK hotel for the money

This hotel is ok for the money but we found the service was slow and sometimes could be a little more helpful. Also the quality of a la carte food in the evening was not great comparing it to other hotels I've stayed in. The rooms do not have tea or coffee making facilities which I know to some is a must and I did miss that after a long day in the sun. This meant you had to buy everything from the hotel putting up your end bill. The rooms are a little tired but clean. All in all I would probably not choose this hotel again. It needs to up its game especially with the new Eden hotel opened right across the water.

we had to take a ferry to get to the hotel. when we arrived at the GPS location. it was already dark and we could hardly see any sign for the hotel nor the ferry nor the parking. it took us sometime to find some one to ask and got on the right track. then we had to wait for the right ferry which runs at 30 mins interval. there was a cart to take your luggage up to the hotel but upon check out. we had to carry em down 50 steps of stairs to the pier.

Great property but the boat can be a pain

The property is good - our room could use a renovation but it was clean, very comfortable and a good size. The pool and beach are exceptional. Breakfast was also good. The only issue is the boat....if you are staying at the hotel and only going off the island for dinner the boat is ok as long as you remember to plan your departure and arrival times. However, we did a number of day trips and the boat was a pain. You also have to take a shuttle to your car.

What more could you want......

Perfect location, lovely island and hotel, ferry service reliable, room clean and spacious, comfortable bed, balcony a bonus, breakfasts plentiful with lots of choice, pool lovely and plenty of sunbeds and shades, beach clean with sunbeds and shades, alternative locations on the island with plenty of shade and privacy. Staff attentive and welcoming.
Only downside was the crockery and glasses in the restaurant - some had chips/cracks etc, regularly checking and disposing of damaged items would be helpful.

We would definitely recommend a stay at The Hotel Katarina......

Communication not great with hotel. We had t figure out ourselves where to park our car in order to get ferry to the island. Breakfast great, buffet dinner not so good. Fantastic location, lovely island, lots of pine tree shaded spots for sunbathing. Interesting bird wildlife. comfortable beds but deteriorated decor (window in hall way falling of its hinges), blocked sink in bathroom.

Beautiful Getaway

Beautiful Island that used to house a summer palace for various Polish abd Italian diplomats. The palace was converted into the main areas of the hotel. The complimentary breakfast buffet is incredible. Plenty of food to please everyone. (Although my American self missed potatoes but that may be a cultural thing.) Dinner also has a vast selection that also comes with a made to order entree. Its around $30 USD per person though, so it may not fit into yiur budget. No worries though becuase you can take the free ferry to town and get of the main street for cheep and delicious eats. If you plan to swin in the sea, bring water shoes, its very rocky and there isn't the type of sandy beach some may expect. The staff is very kind and helpful, and take your bags from the dock to the room for you. The only downside was the stairs. My mom has a hard time with them, and one of the docks has about 3 flights of stairs to go up to get to the hotel. Their are no signs that tell you this, but if you need to avoid the steps follow the ramp to the right and when it intersects with the road, follownit to the left, and around the hotel m. It circles around to the reception. I'm sure if you contact them in advance you work something out. Also their is no room service. Really enjoyed our time there.

Absolutely awful! I have not idea why this hotel is rated so highly. The hotel is very very tired, the rooms are tiny, the furniture is so old and uncomfortable. The breakfast is nothing special and if there is anything resembling \"luxury\" ie a fruit smoothie, you have to pay for this (29kn). The ferry was sporadic which became annoying. Especially the morning we we leaving and had arranged a taxi to pick us up. However, thestaff were lovely and helpful.

Lovely hotel with beautiful views !!

We booked our 4 night trip last minute and so glad we chose to stay at the lovely Hotek Katarina. It is so peaceful with stunning views everywhere you look. The hotel staff are friendly and hardworking. A 5 minute boat ride takes you across to beautiful Rovinj where we spent most evenings sampling the local cuisine. Truly a very special place, Go book !

It is fun to be on an island. This resort is ideal for families with a pool, beach and organized activities for children. The food is so so but the breakfast buffet is great. Roving is I pretty little town to visit with a beautiful church at the top of winding, picturesque roads.

The fact that this hotel is on its own island is very nice. the three pools are great, one deep, one baby pool, and a shallow-deep end pool for smaller children. the pool deck was great for sunbathing. the breakfast was wonderful. great options that never disappointed. dinner each night was different and it was nice to not have to worry about it. this hotel had a boat shuttle that takes you to and from the island to the parking lot or to the town center. one thing i would say is that the old carpet in some the rooms could be replaced, but it seems they are getting to this as some rooms have new 'wood' flooring. this was a family trip with 4 other families and we truly enjoyed ourselves. we would stay here again!

The hotel also supplied a free bottle of sparkling wine on arrival because we mentioned that it was our honeymoon. Overall the customer service and stunning location made this one of the best hotels that we have stayed at.

Good value. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Beautiful island and views. Great amenities. The beach, bars, restaurants, and pool are 5 star. The rooms, however, are closer to three star and look a bit tired. They could use some work. The salt water pool was wonderful and we enjoyed the lap pool area. The beach area was beautiful as well. Some of the paths on the island need better maintenance work. I was told someone would come look at our leaking AC but no one came. The bar was great in terms of price and service and the restaurants had a good selection of food at a reasonable price. Breakfast was only half ready when the restaurant opened in the morning--a bit disappointing. But overall, a great stay that we thoroughly enjoyed.

A gem waiting to be polished

My son and I stayed for 4 nights and Hotel Katarina was a lovely place to relax, so much so it was hard to get my son to go and explore off the Island. Kids club great even if just 2 hours per session (frequency of ferries make if difficult to utilise time fully off the island). Tried a few sporting activities - mini golf, archery and air rifle - and enjoyed the pools and beaches.

The hotel is lovely. We had a terrace overlooking the water. The grounds are natural with sea gulls and pines. There is no air conditioning, but we never missed it during a stay of sunny days. We enjoyed fine breakfasts but chose not to dine at the hotel restaurant.

Stayed for 3 nights and had a pleasant stay. Nice pool area to relax beside if that appeals or lots of coves around the island. Like the rest of Croatia there's no sand but the water is very clean. Boat to and from Rovinj are included in the room price and run every 30 minutes from early until around midnight. Had a small issue when trying to eat at the restaurant one evening, when staff left us to sit around for 15 mins and then told us the buffet was closed, but generally everyone was very nice and service good.

At first thought, being on an island would seem to add inconvenience to one's visit to a mainland town. Far from it - the ferries are frequent and free to hotel guests, and the crossing to town takes only a few minutes. Compensating for this is the beautiful setting in wonderful gardens with a great view of Rovinj. The location, in fact, adds an extra dimension to the enjoyment of one's visit to Rovinj. Hotel facilities and services are without fault, unless one counts the minor inconvenience of the absence of an elevator!

The island that Hotel Katarina is on is beautiful with places to swim in the sea and paths for little strolls. The boat that take you to the main part of Rovinj is from 6am-midnight, runs every hour, and is free. The pool (saltwater) was very relaxing and had great chairs. With our room, there was no air conditioning (but had a table fan), two single beds were pushed together to make our double, so there was a crack in the middle of the bed. And even though we put the \"do not disturb\" sign on our door when we left for the day, when we got back, the sign was gone and our room was cleaned.

Eine ruhige Oass zum Ausspannen und Geniessen

Eine wunderschöne Insel mit viel Natur und Badebuchten. Schöne alte Bäume, gepflegte Gärten und auch wilde Natur, in einem guten Verhältnis. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Pool und Strand sind sehr schön, alle Liegen und Schirme können gratis genutzt werden. Von der Insel hat man eine tolle Sicht auf Rovinj. Frühstückt und Abendessen waren sehr reichhaltig und gut. Wir kommen hoffentlich bald wieder.

Die Länge vom Hotel auf der Insel ist toll. Der essen war super und Abwechslungsreich.
Die Zimmer leider sehr sehr alt, kam Steckdosen, super kleine Dusche. Der Strand und Poolanlage war schön. Vor allem für Kinder.
Das Restaurant war sauber, die Zimmer wurden nicht besonders gut geputzt aber nach dem 3. Tag gab es neue Bettwäsche.
Leider kostet das Ausleihen von Badetüchern Geld, was ich sehr frech finde. Die Qualität der Cocktails ist nicht besonders. Dafür die Preise aber sehr hoch.

Vorab möchte ich sagen, dass wir wegen meines Geburtstags nur ein verlängertes Wochenende dort waren. Das Hotel ist eher etwas altmodisch gehalten, was aber total zusammen passt. Die ganzen Mitarbeiter sind super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Mein Geburtstag wurde wahrgenommen und man hat mir die ein oder andere Aufmerksamkeit zukommen lassen, wie zum Beispiel eine Sektflasche und ein Zimmer mit toller Aussicht. Die Bootsüberfahrt zur Insel und nach Rovinj klappt wunderbar und ist organisiert. Das Frühstück ist vielfältig und lecker. Das Abendessen hat seine Schwächen, aber dennoch essbar. Ich kann das Hotel empfehlen und wir werden sicherlich nochmal hinfahren, vielleicht auch diesen Sommer.

Die ganze Anlage und das Hotel und die Aussicht auf Rovinj sehr schön. Aber Die Zimmerausstattung entspricht nicht einem 3 * Hotel, eher einer Jugendherberge.Wir hatten ein DZ Zimmer mit Blick auf Rovinj gebucht und bekamen ein Familienzimmer mit einem Raum mit Stockbett und im Nebenzimmer mit Doppelbett. Darin ein kleiner FS und ein durchgesessenes, abgenutztes Sofa.Die Möbel aus beschichteten Spanplatten haben schon einige Jährchen auf dem Buckel.Die Dusche mit ca 55x55 cm viel zu klein. Die Aussicht war aber gut.
Das Essen am Abend geschmacklos, nicht frisch gekocht, fertig Produkte.Um 19 Uhr waren die meisten Platten mit Vorspeisen leer und wurden kaum aufgefüllt.
Es gab zB. einen Salat aus gekochtem Hühnerfleisch mit trockenen Toastbrot Würfeln ohne Sauce, oder Blumenkohlmedallions die nach Pappmache schmeckten. Die Getränke sind recht hochpreisig.
0.15 l Wein zB 6,40€., Aperol Spritz ca 9€. Das Personal gestresst und unpersönlich. Als ich zB beim FS um ein frisch gebratenes Ei bat, verdrehte die zuständige Dame nur die Augen.Wir sind vorzeitig einen Tag eher abgereist und haben 150€ verloren

Wir möchten uns beim Team von Alen (Serviceleiter) recht herzlichst für das gute Service bedanken. Es waren alle sehr bemüht und Hilfsbereit. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet. Die Zimmer wurden täglich sehr sauber gereinigt. Der Pool und die Anlage war perfekt. Auch das Service für Elektro Autofahrer hat in Kooperation mit dem Grand Hotel sehr gut funktioniert. Auf Grund dessen können wir uns im Herbst oder Winter auch einen Aufenthalt im Grand Hotel vorstellen.

Schönes Hotel auf wunderschöner kleiner Insel

Schönes Mittelklassehotel in toller Umgebung. Von allen Seiten Meerblick. Die vielen Möven nerven allerdings. Wenn man nicht aufpasst, fliegen sie bis in die Zimmer.

Wir waren bereits das dritte Mal im Hotel Katarina und kommen sicherlich wieder. Man merkt, dass man Kritiken annimmt und sieht deutliche Veränderungen zum letzten Aufenthalt. Schade fanden wir nur, dass die Bar mit Blick auf Rovinj geschlossen wurde. Mit diesem Ausblick in ruhiger Lage war jeder Abend ein Traum.
Es war wieder ein toller Aufenthalt, danke dafür!

beaucoup apprécié le site, l'emplacement de l'hôtel sur une île, la vue sur Rovinj, le parc et l'ensemble des jardins, le calme...

En revanche la nourriture est médiocre, le passage de l'ile au centre de Rovinj n'est pas direct (une demie heure) alors que l'île au retour est à cinq minutes...

Nice place on an island outside of the city. Only couple of minutes with boat once that runs. Difficult to find the boat and parking at the city. Only way was to call the hotel and then things started to roll. They should add information about the piers, parking and boat schedule easily available in their website. Nice an quiet island in early May when there were not that many people at the hotel.

Erittäin hyvä aamupala. Kauniilla paikalla Rovinjin viereisellä saarella. Hotellilla aurinkotuoleja uima-altailla ja meren äärellä. Toukokuussa veneitä saarelle kulki kerran tunnissa.

Meeting place of parking was poorly informed

When we arrived to the address Šetalište Vijeća Europe, which was given in net pages, we realized that there were construction works ongoing and no parking place nor boat connection to the Island.
I called to Maistra's call centre and they asked us to go to Valdipora for instructions. We looked to the map and noticed that there was a Valdipora in the old town. Started to drive towards it and accidentally on the way there, we noticed that there was a sign saying that for hotel Katarina´s customers there was an info point. So with luck we found the right place! Just now when I'm writing I saw from the map that this parking lot is named \"Parking Place Mala Valdibora\".
The officers on that site were totally unorganized. Nobody was telling what to do next. Many people got angry due to arrangements. More cars for the transportations to the final parking lots should have been needed.
The dampness in the room was quite big before we noticed the warming device.

Schönes Hotel in traumhafter Lage

Das Hotel liegt traumhafter Umgebung auf einer kleinen Insel. Bis auf die karge und in die Jahre gekommene Ausstattung der Zimmer ist alles perfekt. Wir sind allerdings in der Nachsaison gefahren, als es hier und in Rovinj ruhiger ist. Die Getränkepreise an der Bar und beim Essen sind allerdings gesalzen. 0,1l Wein 5€ z.B.

Auf der Insel Katarina und im gleichnamigen Hotel kann man sich sehr gut erholen. Die Umgebung ist phantastisch. Man hat die Wahl im Aussenpool oder im Meer zu baden. Wir haben die Liegeplätze in der Gartenanlage genossen

Localizacao impar! Reservei um quarto com vista parcial para o mar.No check-in o funcionario me informou que nao havia disponibilidade de quartos com essa configuracao. Depois de alguma argumentacao nos foi concedido um upgrade para acomodacao tipo Familia.Quarto enorme, com quarto anexo para 2 criancas ou adultos, com otimo balcony e uma vista incrivel. Banheiro precisando de renovacao com box minusculo. Excelente cafe da manha, tipo buffet.O hotel oferece garagem e transporte para a ilha gratuitos.

Schöne Hotelanlage

+ Tolle Hotelanlage auf einer eigenen Insel, unmittelbar von Rovinj entfernt (Kurze Bootfahrt, hat super funktioniert). Der Parkplatz liegt ein Stück entfernt, Transfer erfolgt aber mittels Shuttlebus. Der Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm – super Service und gutes Frühstück! Es werden verschiedene Badeplätze geboten, ebenso Kiesstrand (Liegen und Sonnenschirme für Hotelgäste kostenlos)!

schickes Hotel mit flair und eine eigene Insel!

Toller Aufenthalt! Schickes Hotel auf eigener Insel mit Shuttleboot und bewachten Parkplatz! Alles Top! Neu und modern-renoviertes Bad und Balkon mit Blick auf das Wahrzeichen von Rovinj - Sooo wunderschön! Beim Frühstück war auch alles da uns sehr gut! Also wir kommen sich wieder!!!

Kurzurlaub

Unser Aufenthalt im Hotel Katarina war fantastisch. Alles super organisiert. Wir sind zum Pier gefahren, haben das Gepäck dort abgeladen, das Auto zum Parkplatz gefahren, mit einem Shuttlebus zurück zum Pier und von dort mit dem Boot zur Insel.
Das Einchecken ging schnell, obwohl viele Gäste angekommen sind.
Die Lage des Hotels ist super, das Frühstück auch sehr gut, nur die Einrichtung der Zimmer nicht so gemütlich, wir würden es aber auf jeden Fall nochmal buchen.

Ehemals schönes Hotel,gute Lage, schlecht gemanagt

Die Verständigung auf Englisch war schlecht. Es war dem Hotel nicht möglich zur erklären, wie das Handling für Fahrradtouristen ist. Die Zimmer waren geräumig, wiesen aber starke Gebrauchsspuren aus. Kleines Badezimmer. Schöne und gepflegte Außenanlagen. Restaurant, Personal war neu, kannte sich anscheinend noch nicht aus. Nur 6 Speisekarten für 10 Personen, mehr könnte der Ober nicht finden. Die Küche ist anscheinend nur für das abendliche Büffet gerüstet. Bei a la Card Bestellung gab es 2 Reklamation bei 10 Bestellungen. Frühstücksbüffet war sehr gut. Bei einem guten Management könnte man deutlich mehr aus dem Hotel machen.

Aanrader als je weinig eisen stelt aan de kamer.

Geweldige ligging t.o.v. Rovinj op het eiland in een heel mooi park.
Parkeren met shuttleservice: prima! Overtocht met de boot: leuk!
Zwembad heel mooi, ontbijt en diner van goede kwaliteit en ruime keus. Openbare ruimtes sfeervol ingericht.
Kamer erg eenvoudig, badkamer schandalig verouderd en slecht sanitair!

Et stille rolig hotel med et flott bassengområde

Hotellet var eneste bygning på øya det var plassert på, ingen biler, kun en rolig atmosfære. Hotellet hadde et stort, rent og flott bassengområde, både for barn og voksne. Stranden var liten, hadde gratis solsenger. Rommene var store, men ikke helt moderne, men greie nok. Klimaanlegget fungerte veldig bra. Terrassen var rolig og fin, med utsikt rett mot gamlebyen i Rovinj, vakker utsikt. Hotellet var generelt rent og fint. Frokosten var helt super, alt hav en kunne ønske seg. Egg ble stekt mens en ventet. Betjeningen var i snitt hyggelige, noen var veldig blide og hyggelige. Det var ikke en stor ulempe, men et lite minus at båten til og fra land kun gikk hver time, ville vært en stor forbedring med halv times avganger. Parkering var gratis og fungerte veldig bra. Også båtreisen var gratis. Det kan imidlertid skiltes bedre siste kilometeren til der båten befinner seg ved havnen, spesielt der hvor blindveien starter inn til havnen, 200 meter fra porten. Vi hadde middag på hotellet, dette vil jeg droppe en annen gang.

Immer wieder ein super Urlaub

Wie schon im Vorjahr war alles wunderbar. Kleine Verbesserungen sind deutlich spürbar z.b. durchweg sympathisches, hilfsbereites und freundliches Personal oder eine verbesstere Essensauswahl. Die Insel an sich ist und bleibt ein kleines Paradies in dem man super erholen kann. Transfer wie immer zuverlässig und viele kleine Dinge zum Entdecken in Rovinj selbst

Great \"oas\" close to bussy Rovinj. Great hotel only main disadvantages was the to manny and disturbing sea gulls (something really needs to be done regarding this!).

Altes, etwas heruntergekommenes Hotel.

Servicepersonal nett und aufmerksam.
Frühstücksbuffet gut, Abendbuffet könnte mehr Auswahl haben, jeden 2. Abend gibt es nur etwas von der Karte.
Portionen relativ klein.
Sauberkeit im Zimmer könnte besser sein. An der Dusche fehlte eine Tür. Keine Reaktion nach Reklamation an der Reception.
Außenanlage sehr sauber. Strandabschnitte sehr gepflegt.
Anreise auf die Insel etwas umständlich. Auf der Insel gibt es außer dem Hotel nichts.
Starker Baulärm gegenüber von Rovinj - hier wird gerade ein großes Hotel gebaut.

Alles super, außer dass wir im Lift steckengeblieben sind - der ist übrigens bis zur Abreise nicht mehr instand gesetzt worden.. Aber sonst wirklich toller Aufenthalt. Service und Essen super, ruhig, sauber. Perfekt für ein paar Tage!!!

페리를 타고 섬까지 들어가야하지만, 투숙객은 무료이고 버스터미널에서 페리선착장까지 멀지않기때문에 갈만했습니다. 짐도 다들어다주시구요. 바닷가를 바라보며 수영장에서 휴식을 취하기에 너무 좋았습니다.
