A truly mesmerizing experience. The room was of a standard comparable to the one we enjoyed at the Ritz in London. The castle and its surrounding grounds were beautiful and astonishing. I took my husband here for a night away for his birthday. The hotel is beautiful, very special with amazing rooms to explore and sit by one of the many fireplaces with a drink. We were allocated a room in the coach house which is closer to the spa but not part of the main building. The room was like staying in my grandmas house, clean but very old fashioned. I know that’s supposed to be the charm of a place like this but I think they can find a way to combine the character with a bit of an update. I would say the spa area is basic and the massage my husband got was underwhelming given the high price. The highlight was the breakfast which was very nice, although it was spoiled by the fact I was told off by the waiter for making a phone call. I’m all for rules, but there was no warning anywhere that mobile phones are not allowed to be used so I felt quite embarrassed. This was a night away without the children so naturally I wanted to check in on them in the morning. Anyway, would I stay here again, probably not, but maybe staying in the main hotel and not being spoken to like a child would change my mind.

Lovely grounds for walking. Great public rooms. Dinner menu rather limited if you were staying more than a couple of days. Room was comfortable although bathroom could do with an update.

Lovely country house hotel
We had a family Sunday lunch here and then stayed overnight. The lunch was lovely, in a grand setting and with excellent service.
We had a small room on the mezzanine floor, but it had a separate living room with a TV and was very pleasant. Our only criticism would be that the bath had only a hand shower and no curtain or screen, so if you just wanted a shower you couldn't avoid getting the floor wet. This may not be true of other rooms.
The breakfast was good, except for the avocado on toast, which was mushy and unappetising.
The house is impressive and has a fascinating history, and the surrounding parkland is lovely, and well worth walking around.

We stayed here whilst attending the British Grand Prix. Absolutely stunning grounds, beautiful hotel. Our room was amazing. I'm disappointed we didn't get a chance to explore the grounds due to lack of time. Staff were friendly, helpful and their knowledge of the house and its history was outstanding. You could tell they were all extremely proud of their workplace. Would I go back? In a heartbeat!! The only gripe was the parking, the carpark is small and not easy to manoeuvre in, we struggled for space 2 nights out of 3 and had to park in the drop off spaces. The staff did not seem to mind though. We felt we were spoiling photo opportunities for other guests having our car outside the main doors.

The meal was very average and the menus too restrictive. The wine was not up to anything like the value of the bottle as charged. The building and grounds are magnificent the hotel just needs to chill a bit and relax and cater for more people, better choices. The pianist was lovely.

Amazing hotel in beautiful gardens with fantastic staff. The rooms are very traditional and rightly so, as they are in keeping with the surroundings. The bed was very soft though and also very small for the size of the room, so that's one area that I think should be modernised.

Lovely hotel and fantastic spa!
This is a beautiful hotel. It felt like a peek behind the curtains of life in olden times. My daughter and I went on the circular walk and saw swans, ducks, cows and lovely old trees. The spa is second to none with friendly, helpful staff. We had the most fabulous back massage and the lady made us feel very comfortable.
The only thing I found uncomfortable about our stay was the way the lady at reception spoke when we checked in. She was in what felt like pushy “sales” mode - will we be having dinner/breakfast. We had planned to but she put us off and we tried to avoid reception for rest of stay, eating elsewhere!

Staff were very professional but not very welcoming. A couple were great particularly the breakfast staff but others seemed to be performing an act. Sometimes the front door was opened for us and sometimes not, what is the point of that?

This is a stately home owned by the National Trust and we feel fortunate to have stayed in such an amazing building, almost like it was our own home. The staff were so friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble. Although some facilities were not available due to COVID, our 4 day stay couldnt have been nicer - a truly wonderful break!

Wonderful location in the middle of an attractive park. Public rooms were striking, great period ceilings and walls. Bedroom was large and comfortable. And the breakfasts and dinners were excellent. The sports facilities in the spa were the cherry on the top. It was not cheap but definitely excellent value for money. If you need a place to stay to tour Bucks, this is the one. The only negative is nearby Aylesbury, the roads are a maze and the signage is quite appalling -- in some cases you could only find where you were intending to go by approaching from the opposite direction. Even Satnav was confused !

I booked this property as a treat to myself and thought it would be superb - it was better than that. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left I felt thoroughly spoilt. Someone was always available if required, and helped when I had an \"issue\" with the television set. I also had a massage at the Spa whilst here, I just wish I had booked a longer one, it was so relaxing. I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel.

This was just a gorgeous English historic house. The staff were amazing and extremely polite and professional. Our room was actually a suite with fabulous furniture and amenities. Fantastic overnight stay with meals and spa treatments. All our meals were of a high level and enjoyed by everyone. Treatments were also of a high level. The decor is in keeping with an old country house, so if you are expecting modern , this is not the hotel, however everything was of a great standard, room was lovely and warm. Staff, and dealing with any issues we had (nothing to do with the hotel) all fantastic.

The Hartwell House is a historic estate dating back hundreds of years. The estate and surrounding buildings are architecturally interesting, and the grounds are idyllic. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Hartwell House!

It is a nice country hotel in Aylesburry. There is vast beautiful grassland and farm land surrounding the guesthouse. It is advised to spend at least 1 hour or 2 walking around, enjoying the country yard.

This is a beautiful setting but I feel that the hotel is slightly relying on this. We had a lovely room but for the price of £290 per night we would expect a lot. It was the little things that did not quite work, shampoo but no conditioner, dusty around the socket when I plugged in my hairdryer, turndown service but no tidying away of dirty cups. The staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. We did not have dinner but did have breakfast on both days, this was included and was a full English breakfast, partly buffet, some ordered. Unfortunately on both days the majority of the buffet food was cold even though we ate about 45 minutes to an hour before service ended. I would recommend this hotel but I do feel that it needs to attend to some of the details to justify its top end placement.
