Amazing stay! Let us check in early, room was clean and nice. The spa staff were great! Breakfast in the morning was yummmm (ate in the peacock room, stunning!). Only downside of the trip were the scary peacocks trying to steal my food and the sounds they make in the morning.

What a beautiful place to stay. Lovely hotel and grounds, easy access into Tring and surrounding countryside.
We had a superior room with garden view - lovely room, nice amount of space, lovely bed and bathroom and partial views of the garden (room 344)
2 lads behind the bar were great, they certainly were kept busy as hotel is popular. Dinner was good quality - we had the inclusive menu as pre paid for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast also nice, but did have to wait around 20 minutes for poached and fried eggs, but good choice of cereals, full English, a few cheeses and pastries.
Grounds are lovely, Tesla Ed atmosphere and loved the peacocks roaming everywhere.
Would say the pool however is disappointing - very small, noisy (was lots of kids) and definitely needs a hot tub - plus point was going straight from the pool onto outside loungers, to soak up some sun.
Also I loved the decor throughout- some really cool paintings and also learnt a little history of the place.
Late check out up to 6pm also a plus point.

1. Hotels.com description for a Superior Room is 31 sq m, with a seating area with a sofa and chairs. Ours (room 275) was tiny, with room for a desk and a chair in the corner. Yet, Front Desk assured us this was a Superior Room.
2. Getting hot water out of the shower is non-trivial. Initially we had to complain to get the boiler restarted, then we had to ask for someone to come to the room to explain how to operate the shower tap (involved aligning the lever at a particular angle combined with pushing and turning the temperature knob). Instructions in the bathroom would be helpful.
3. No hairdryer in the room, had to call and request. When the attendant arrived, he asked to check our wardrobe as if he didn't believe us.
4. Breakfast, if ordered on Hotels.com at time of booking, seems to be £20 per room. If ordered in person on the morning, it's more than twice the price, £22 per person. So plan accordingly!
5. Lots of stairs. Our room was only accessible via stairs, which can be tiring depending on how much luggage you have.
6. The grounds are fairly nice. The peacocks are striking, through depending on their mood (and, presumably, the season), they do get into shouting matches with each other which can make for a less-than-tranquil experience on the lawns. Thankfully most rooms are well-insulated and the noise is a lot softer. The lawns therefore are fertilized with healthy amounts of peacock droppings. And occasionally some of the tabletops in the lawn area, too.

Lovely place to stay, great staff and beautiful surroundings. We only stayed one night but felt like we made the most of what was on offer. Had a swim late in the evening and first thing in the morning, pool was slightly chilly but a good size and lovely for the kids. Room was spacious, comfy and clean. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All the staff we met were very friendly, particular mention to Rebecca the receptionist who gave us a very warm welcome and explanation of the facilities. Enjoyed the grounds and the large flock of peacocks in the morning before we left- this was a stop off to break a long journey and we’d absolutely stay there again.

What a lovely hotel, staff, gardens (with beautiful peacocks), pool and overall experience. We stayed for two nights, and ended up eating in the hotel both nights, the food was lovely too. The games rooms with an art area, a pool table, table tennis and garden activities are a great touch for the kids. Only one request - please put some wd40 on the ground floor laundry door. We would absolutely recommend and we will be returning, thank you.

Pendley Manor was the best hotel I’ve stayed in, in a long while.
From the moment we entered the hotel the staff were so friendly, helpful and professional.
The receptionist Tye answered my many questions knowledgeably.
The waiters in the Oak room were so nice, nothing was too much trouble.
We had the most amazing food (and we are fussy foodies) every course was exceptional at dinner and the breakfast was delicious, the quality of the food is top notch!
We had booked a family room for the 2 of us, so spacious the beds were really comfy and the fridge was a real bonus, to chill the champagne I had taken to celebrate my friend’s retirement.
We made full use of all the facilities, the spa was wonderful, and so enjoyed seeing all the peacocks on our walks in the beautiful grounds.
Thank you to all, we will definitely be back! 😊

We booked this room while attending a black-tie event, so we had high expectations given the price. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing.
The room itself was quite small, especially compared to the unusually large bathroom. When I went to take a shower, the water was only lukewarm, which was frustrating. Getting ready for the event was also inconvenient—there was no mirror near the desk/dressing table and no full-length mirror in the room. The only mirror was in the bathroom, which wasn’t practical while my partner was using it. This made preparing for a formal event much more difficult than it should have been.
Additionally, the room felt very stuffy. Opening the window helped with ventilation, but it let in a lot of noise from an external fan, making it hard to relax.
Overall, the room did not meet expectations for the price we paid.

Room amenities is good! Coffee machine, coffee selection ( decaffeinated too! ) 4 packs of hot chocolate, alot of biscuits, 2 different type of tea. Oh! And there is a fridge which was very convenient for family with young children ( fresh milk storage)

What I really want to highlight is the service!

My son was actually sick ( vomited ) and the hotel staff was very understanding and did not make me feel an inch of uncomfortable about it!

This was one of the best stays we have had. From check in being seamless to our room being spotless (and the cutest gesture of a card signed by all the staff wishing us a happy anniversary!) the spa was great and Camelia gave me the best massage ive ever had. A 3 course meal also enhanced with another lovely gesture for our anniversary. Every staff member we came across were friendly, professional and just delightful. We have stayed in many 5* hotels and can honestly say this was one of our favourite stays and would not hesitate in coming back Thank you all!

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the pool was always clean and well maintained. The garden is beautiful, and the peacocks were a lovely treat. The staff were super helpful and attentive throughout our stay. You definitely get good value for the money paid.

Breakfast was okay – not the best – but we understand it is focused on a traditional English breakfast. It would be nice to have a vegetarian sausage option and boiled eggs as well. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

- The standard double room they gave us was not large enough to open a suitcase in.

- The double bed was considerably smaller than a normal double bed.

- We had to turn off the heating because it was incredibly loud and even after turning it off the heater made a clicking sound which made it very difficult to sleep.

Staff:

- The staff were all courteous and trying their best so I want to make it clear that any criticisms here are aimed at those doing the recruitment, setting wages and providing the training.

- We had to quietly and politely request a change of room 3 times before it was eventually accepted. - Maybe I’m being cynical but this felt like a policy rather than a choice by the very nice receptionist. He seemed like he was visibly struggling to deny the request.

- A member of staff spat on the floor as they approached the front door, having not seen me.

- The poor bar staff were very overworked and undertrained. They shouldn’t have the responsibility of making cocktails that cost £14.50 if they’re not trained well enough to make them to the standard that justifies the cost. My old fashioned had sugar residue at the bottom and not enough ice when it was presented. This is such a minor gripe I feel stupid writing it but if I was running a hotel I’d want to know what to improve. - if it was £9 I wouldn’t care but if you charge a premium price it has to be made better.

Tip: close the pool at 9.30, pay the cleaner til 10 to avoid the awkwardness.

Bit disappointed with attempting to eat in the restaurant though, was told initially fully booked, then that we might be able to get a table at either 8 or 9 as another couple had double booked and weren’t sure when they were arriving (must be good customers!). Then when we decided to go for room service as my partner wasn’t feeling up to going down for dinner I got hanged up on initially then told someone would call be back - they didn’t so I ended up ordering burgers from JustEat - not what I was expecting with such a highly rated hotel. Probably won’t return.

Room itself was nice and spacious but there was a terrible smell from the bathroom which can only be described as poor waste water management. We only discovered it on returning from our evening meal at 11.30pm by which time it was too late to move. I had to leave the window open all night to try and remove the smell which wasn't ideal as there was a band playing behind in one of the function rooms. We reported it the next day but reception wasn’t that interested.
On arrival we also requested robes to use in the spa and we were advised there wasn’t enough so they couldn't fulfil the request.
Pool and sauna area was nice and clean. Definitely a one off stay I wouldn’t return as I don't think the service matched 4 stars.

Description of room needs changing. Not all bedrooms have a bath/shower combination. Some only have a shower. Hotel was able to change our room to one with a bath.
Also description states that bed has sheets. They don’t. They have a duvet, not topsheet and duvet. They did provide us one but had to ask twice.
Parking can be a problem if there is a conference, but just ask reception and they will find you a space.

Lovely warm welcome from staff. Our stay had dinner and breakfast included which was fab. Particularly the dinner, lovely options - we’d recommend the fish and chips, lamb shank and chicken. The chips are unreal!

The room was lovely also. Came with a nespresso machine and complimentary sparkling water.

The pool was also very clean and calming. We didn’t use the gym or sauna.

This was our baby moon and we’d highly recommend it as a little getaway. Particularly around autumn/ winter - it had such a cosy feel to it!

Check in was fine, rooms are spacious but lack some finishing (wires hang down from television, forgotten robes) building has lots of character but a lot of the furniture is tired/stained/worn. We got there at 1pm and the lawn area with outdoor furnitures had obviously not been cleaned after an event the night before, bottles and dirty glasses, cushions missing or mix matched, glass tops missing from tables, so it was hard to find a suitable table to sit at. The area behind the bar was filthy, milk left out, oat milk left out, milk all over the espresso machine, wrappers and rubbish on the counter dirty dishes everywhere. This then attracted flies and, more concerning, wasps. Staff in the bar were lovely, but obviously very short handed even though there were lots of other staff walking around. We definitely got the impression that the event/events were being prioritized over residential guests. We would probably come back again if we saw it at a deal as the family rooms were very convenient for young children, but it definitely did not feel luxury/4 star.

The hotel is situated on beautiful grounds and the peacocks there is what makes it so special. I noticed there werent enough members of staff around however, and unfortunately no availability for a spa treatment even though we had booked a little last minute, it was still over a week to go. When we visited the spa, there seemed to be no one there, and no clients waiting to be seen either. It was very quiet and looked like not enough members of staff to carry out the treatments
