Free breakfast is delicious. Food options range from traditional to special plates. Pub definitely has the English feel. Outdoor tables are perfect to have a pint and enjoy the sun. The staff puts five star hotel chains to shame. They are friendly, attentive and professional. Definitely staying here again.

This Pub Eaterie/hotel is in a lovely position.
Parking is a big issue if you arrive any time. The breakfast was very good and the service too. Our room was painted bright white/the bathroom had seen better days and was very small and could have been cleaner (door did not close). Aldbury is a lovely village. If I stayed again I would request one of the more modern rooms.

The room was so dated and so dirty it was awful. The curtains were ripped, the shower flooded so I moved the cover over the drain and oh my goodness, it had never ever been cleaned!
The floor of the room was so out and sloping that the bed kept moving. No headboard so the pillows kept falling off the bed too.
There is a large green light above the door which is so bright, we got not sleep. We tried to cover it in clothes and a pillow but still so bright.
It was so dusty in the room we could write our names in it!
Breakfast was nice but one of our party was gluten free and they put the gluten free toast next to the standard bread.

I stay once a year here, when I play golf nearby. It is starting to look a little tired and the Bluebell Corner room I stayed in certainly needs freshening up. But the staff, food and drink and location remain fIrst class.

The room we had was out the back in a converted barn, up a flight of metal stairs which could have tricky had it been raining.
The room was small and very basic. The mattress on the bed was awful and gave absolutely no support. The bathroom was extremely small and just about adequate, not big enough for two to use at the same time.
We ate in the pub meeting friends who lived close by. The menu was good and varied, and the food was very good. The service was also good, although we did feel a little rushed to order desert.
Breakfast was also disappointing although the offering was good. We both had poached eggs which at best were luke warm and the mushrooms were missed off my wife's order.
Overall quite disappointing and really not value for money.
Would we stay again, I'm afraid not.

Nice village, quite location however the room was a disappointment. Curtains were tatty, furniture & bathroom dated and the grouting needed a good scrub. The green night light on the emergency exit was bright and lit the room all night. Fortunately an eye mask cured the problem. The restaurant was busy and obviously popular, the food well presented however the single veggie option was a little bland. The highlights were the staff who were delightfully helpful and attentive. Unfortunately I just cannot understand how this place is a 4 star premises it's definitely not.

Although the catch on the bathroom door was broken and the decor was a little old, the shower was warm and the towels big and fluffy. On the whole we were really pleased. We parked and were not charged (so perhaps the surcharge mentioned in Expedia is not accurate). Expedia also states in room amenities that towels are not available. We had a good meal in the restaurant but we’re very disappointed in the room.

The staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was very good. The room was very basic -grubby carpets, worn furniture but more importantly very, very cold. The radiators were off and a window open when we arrived. We turned the rad on but the heating appeared to go off around 5.30 but had made little impression on the temperature in the room anyway. We went out , came back very late and the room was so cold that it took us a couple of hours to warm up in bed. When we went down to breakfast at 8.30 the heating was still not on. Showering and dressing in the cold was not a pleasant experience.

Wonderful little cottage, perfect for our family. The village is picture perfect, and is situated so you can walk into the large National Trust area from your doorstep. The adjoining pub serves great food, and the landlord is extremely welcoming. The village has a well stocked corner shop and post office. We would thoroughly recommend.

Family stay over weekend for local wedding. Great local location with scenic views across local village green and duck pond. Pub with a lot of character including hotel rooms which are surprisingly comfortable with all needed amenities provided. Outside of building could do with some TLC. Breakfast very good and dinner menu has plenty of choice with spacious dinning facilities and a good selection of beers.

Nice pub set in a lovely traditional English village. Somehow communications nearly caused us an issue on arrival, as we thought we'd booked a dog friendly room at the pub. Which the Landlord said wasn't possible as they don't have any dog friendly rooms, only a rentable cottage. Fortunately, that was available for us to stay in for a night - which we appreciated.

The place was beautiful and the ladies who serviced us dinner were extremely kind and efficient. Everything was brilliant until we were leaving. We paid for our stay after breakfast and then went to drop off the keys after having packed up our bags. The man on reception told my partner we hadn’t paid (when we had) and argued with us. He was incredibly rude and even after checking the system and seeing that we had already paid he refused to apologise. It was such a shame because other than his rudeness the greyhound had been lovely. Unfortunately he has put us off coming back.

This could be lovely- but it isn’t! I think the bulk of the high scoring reviews must be about the pub and not the room. The communal areas to the accommodation are grimy and a bit smelly- as is the room. Not a romantic country room. Feels depresssing. Old mattress. Decor just sadly basic. Carpets revolting. The breakfast was lovely and the service good, I found the lunch on the Saturday to be nice but expensive. My only complaint about the room was we had several large arachnids (big hairy spiders) in the room and I found that very off putting. It's the time of year for them I suppose.

Just a stop over really. Bedroom and bathroom very clean but communal areas needing a lick of paint. Few cobwebs around the place and looks like some deeper cleaning required. That said the important bed and bathroom were spot on and a fabulous breakfast.

We were quite disappointed to be honest, after reading so many positive reviews. We found the rooms to be very dated and in quite poor condition - paint peeling off the ceiling in the tiny shower, all the surfaces and cupboards were a bit grimy and the general feel and décor felt very outdated. The pub itself is lovely, although the toilets could definitely do with a refurb and the bin area between the pub and the rooms behind the pub was very dirty and smelly. Breakfast was included and was quite nice, but we had to eat between 8.30 and 9.30 am one day and on New Years Day we were told that if we wanted breakfast, we'd need to eat between 8.30 and 9am because they were very busy in the restaurant later that day, which I didn't think was particularly friendly or fair. Overall, very hard to justify the £95/night rate.

Very nice country pub with friendly staff, restaurant was lovely and the food really nice, big drawback on our room, was not up to the £95 pound standard, pretty basic no where to put toiletries in the toilet which just has a phone box shower in it, was in the converted barn which I had to climb up iron stairs to get to, and no sleep at all because of a green light above our door on the inside of the room, would not stay again,
