Staff are superb and very welcoming. Hotel is on a VERY busy road so its best to book a room with no windows. Wide selection of items for breakfast. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, but a bit tired in places. Booked a trip via the hotel which did not go well, albeit hotel staff tried hard to rectify afterwards. Only a small hotel so staff soon get to know you and even offer to do a carry out breakfast for you if leaving early. Very central hotel with all main sights within walking distance. Would stay again, just wouldn’t book any day trips

My wife menstruated in her sleep and the staff found it tasteful to videotape the sheets and play the video in the lobby for any passerby to see and then demanded payment for having to wash the sheets. Apparently, this hotel does not normally clean the sheets to any normal standard. My sister-in-law received similar treatment for using a washcloth. The hotel tried to explain that they were being kind by explaining that they normally charge twice as much if you steal the sheets. The massage place was ok until the sudden interruption of a very loud karaoke session next door. The water was so hot I accidentally got second degree burns on my back.

Awesome location and fantastic rooms, but the absolute stars of this place are the staff. They were unbelievably kind and helpful. When we accidentally left an item behind on the way to the airport, they contacted us immediately and arranged to have it brought to us at the airport. Exceptional service. Thank you so much.

Breakfast staff ask lots of 'Why'questions when we requested if we can pack some breakfast to go for our child due to early tour bus pickup.

Upon checked in, the room given which was still occupied, the front desk quickly arranged another room.

The room was spacious including the bathroom. Everything was clean and the shower pressure was amazing (strong and actual good hot water that didn't run out). The breakfast options are great too, so recommend adding that to your reservation.

Overall service was great, with everyone super friendly and helpful.

The only issue I had was that there were little ants around the room - some crawled onto the bed and into my bags... I know this is common in Vietnam homes, but didn't expect them in a hotel.

Our rooms, connected 2 rooms, were very spacious. It's in front of busy street with lots of shops and restaurants yet inside the room was quiet. We enjoyed breakfast every morning. They arranged 3 tours for us and it saved our time, and we enjoyed all of them. Very friendly, professional staff. We had to leave early in the morning around 6am for our flight and they even prepared breakfast to go 😊 We would definitely stay again if we have chance to visit Hanoi.

We enjoyed our stay at Oriental Hotel. The staff, especially Vivian, Sam, and Bob were super helpful and friendly. It was raining and the street in front of the hotel was blocked off so Bob accompanied us to ensure we met a grab at the correct location. Breakfast is good but there is no dining for dinner. Very charming and quaint atmosphere would definitely stay again if travel brings me back to Hanoi.

Location is perfect for exploring old town. The street in front of the hotel hosts the night market on weekends.
During the night market the area is closed to cars, so if arriving on a weekend night, talk to hotel first, they will help.

Staff fulfilled many little extra wishes with a smile.

Rooms were clean and spacious.

This property is in a great location with lots of food options, shopping, cafes, and near all prime locations. The breakfast had ample variety which was delicious. Nice hotel in the middle of the old quarter. Evelyn from the hotel helped us book all the excersions and everything went perfectly. In Hanoi old quarter, people need to walk on the street with the cars and the motorcycles because the sidewalks are full of parked motorbikes or stalls.. it took us a day to get comfortable with that. The hotel is close to a nice lake and a walk (no cars) around the lake with good vibes and safe walking.

This is not a 4 star hotel. This is at best a 2 or 3 star hotel. I didn’t have a problem with the lack of luxury. However, the rooms are non-smoking and we could smell cigarette smoke in our room during our whole stay of 1 day. The cigarette smell was so bad especially when we turned on the AC. We told the staff about this issue and all they did was spray the room and give us an air purifier but that didn’t help at all. My husband and I get bad headaches from cigarette smoke and it was horrible to stay in the room with that smell. I booked the suite which was about $130 per night, for that much money we deserved way better service. Also this hotel is in the middle of old quarter so lots of noise at night. I recommend to book a hotel outside the old quarter near the lake, the prices are better and you get better hotels. It’s better to live on the outskirts and take a taxi to old quarter to explore. Breakfast was mediocre. This place gets 1 star. Worst hotel experience I’ve had in my Asia travels.

Didnt receive any VIP upgrade or anything as advertised, was imposed a $30 late check out even though it would have been an entitlement, rain shower was broken, aircon was not at 19deg, door was spoilt so it was inconvenient to get in and out as I have to wait for the staff. The staff was apologetic I was okay but the manager attitude was like \"oh yes late check out is chargeable\" so I declined.

Very central hotel, needs a little work

Whilst the staff were very helpful and quick to double check administration errors, the room needs a bit of TLC. It smelt of stale smoke (which I suspect is the result of smoke wafting in from outside) the bed was hard, and the shower design was not very good for anyone with mobility problems. However we were happy with our co-joined rooms for our kids, was neat and spacious, and the hotel followed up quickly when our room key wasn't working. Location was great, extremely central.

My husband and I just had a fantastic stay at the Oriental Suites Hotel and Spa for ten days. The hotel is located in the old quarter and we were able to explore the old quarter and the french quarter on foot. We used the spa and had massages, body scrubs and facials. Fantastic service and exceptionally reasonably priced.

The staff are exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has a travel desk which we used to organise a walking street food tour, train street and a cruises in Ha Long bay. All excursions were well organised and Ha Long bay on the ambassador signature cruise was a highlight of our trip. The staff had recommendations for eating and shopping and always greated us like we were old friends when we returned to the hotel. I simply cannot say enough good things about all the staff in this hotel. Incredibly pleasant, helpful, well-mannered and friendly. We cannot wait to return!

The oriental suites provided an exceptional experience in old town Hanoi. The suite with balcony was very spacious and was a great place to take a break from the crowded old town streets. We arrived just before typhoon Yagi and after cancelling some plans decided to wait out the storm in Hanoi. All the staff was friendly and went above and beyond to keep our stay comfortable despite the stress of the incomming storm .

We made a booking with the concierge to go to Cat Ba Island, and on the day we were to travel we found that a super typhoon was heading directly for Cat Ba Island, so I enquired if it would make sense to cancel the trip. She informed me that it was not a big deal, and just to go ahead. On the three hour bus ride to Cat Ba we found out that the Island would be shut down for multiple days and we would not be able to return as scheduled. The net is we had to turn right back around the next morning in order to get off the island. Also, there was at least a 40 percent surcharge on the tickets she booked.

The hotel and staff were wonderful. I had a very late check in and a car was sent to pick me up from the airport and my room was ready for me within minutes. The breakfast had a variety of selections. It was very good. The staff accommodated all of my needs with grace and friendliness. I would stay again.
