Good hotel in a convenient area with easy access to the marina and the beach. The bus stop is nearby too for exploring elsewhere. The hotel is well maintained and was a very relaxing place to stay. The room with views of the marina and sea was comfortable, with a balcony equipped with table and chairs. We were lucky that our room had the sun on the balcony all afternoon and we also had the sun setting in view as well. In the hotter months the sun might be a bit too much in the room but the air conditioning was very quiet, controllable and efficient.
We had twin beds that were okay, my wife thought they were comfortable but I thought mine was too firm.
The buffet food was of good quality and a good selection to choose from at breakfast and dinner. One thing I thought was poor was the siting of the grill where the chef cooked fresh items while you wait, it is in the centre of the hot food area and people queuing would block access to the other hot dishes on offer and some seemed a bit miffed having to move to allow you to get to the other dishes, I think they were afraid of losing their place in the queue and probably think you are pushing in. That really is the only thing I would fault.
Being late season the evening entertainment was not much consisting mainly of a singer but its only a short walk to the marina with all the bars ect.
Overall I would be happy to return

From the moment we walked thru the door till the second we left this hotel excelled in every respect.
Warm welcome , hard working pleasant staff, great room and air con, pool plus facilities really good and food (breakfast in our case)was varied and really fresh and tasty.
Finally the cost was real value for money!!
Well done to all at the Vila Gale Marina!!

This was our second time at this hotel. The hotel is nice, and clean. Great location. Staff is friendly and helpful. Thaina and Mariana, the outdoor entertainment girls were very outgoing and accommodating to our music requests. Poolside is much better with some music on:)

Our room was on the 7th floor & the view from the balcony was beautiful, beds were made everyday & fresh towels were provided too. The breakfast option was great with so many options. Its just a few minutes walk to the marina where you find great restaurants & bars not to mention shopping. I certainly would stay there again with a doubt. We even got a free goodbye drink the day before we left & met with the manager to give our views which was nice👌👌. You just cannot go wrong with this hotel, the staff are very helpful & polite too.

The property was well located a few minutes walk from the marina, restaurants, and bars as well as had excellent breakfast buffet, exercise classes, an indoor and outdoor pools and jacuuzzi. Didn't sample the dinner menu but another guest told me it was very good. Very relaxing environment with large lobby with comfortable chairs, bar and TV's playing sports. Reception and cleaning staff very helpful.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Staff were very helpful, we requested to move rooms as ours was next to the service lifts so quite noisy during the night. Breakfast was lovely, lots of variety and the hotel is reasonably priced. Hotel is also in a great location for the marina. Id recommend not to bother with booking a transfer from airport to hotel as you can easily get an uber for ~€20.

Lovely marina area with spoil for choice for food, sandy beaches, boat ride. Boat ride to see dolphins and caves as well as parasailing.

Location good but lacked atmosphere

Location was good as a short walk to the shops and marina. Entrance area is also the hotel bar which lacked any atmosphere. On arrival there was entertainment and only 2 guests seated there. Very drab and uninviting.
I had requested a double room and we had 2 single dressed beds pushed together. Not sure if this is the norm but I would still consider that a twin room. View from balcony was great as we were on the top floor. The pool area looked nice but we didn’t use it during our stay. In shade for some of the time due to the U shape of the hotel.
The bathroom lacked a shelf as we had to store everything around the sink. No place to store shampoo etc in the shower space either. Bathroom could do with maintenance as toilet seat was broken as was the flush button.
Would I stay here again? Possibly but I would look at their sister hotel, Ampalius close by first.
Just felt the Marina hotel lacked something. It just didn’t feel very inviting.

Hotel accepts stag dos!

Hotel was in a good location however a few things let this hotel down. The bathroom facilities were not great. The walkin shower didnt drain the water away quickly so ended up filling up and overflowing. Also the toilet splashed water onto the bathroom floor every time it flushed so had to use a towel to mop this up. Also, there were a couple of stag dos during our stay which were pretty raucous. Booked the hotel based on it advertising as a family and couples hotel, didnt expect large groups of stags too! Felt like a Club 18-30 at times!

The hotel decor is very dated. Clean but dated. Glass rpuns the polz every day at least 1 smashed glass, needs to be clea er and plastic glasses.
Bathroom stunk of urine in our bedroom. Worst smell.
Also the shower did not point out enoough so it was hard to get under it properly as the bravket was loose and could not be repositioned.

The bed option was 2 twin beds pushed together, which was not comfortable for us as a couple.
Otherwise was a very nice hotel with a great breakfast, friendly staff, clean facilities and nice location in Vilamoura. This is a more commercial, modern, developed resort area of Algarve than some of the surrounding small towns.

There were more negatives than positives.

When we checked in the Reception did not inform us of how to access the WiFi, the room safe or how to get the pool towels.

For a room that holds 4 people (junior suite) there was a large wardrobe but only 10 hangers for 4 people. What an absolute waste of space.

There was very limited drawer space in the room. In the bedroom there was a large table holding the TV which could have had drawers underneath. The bedside tables had no drawers in. Who designs these rooms.

We were told (only after I’d asked) that you collect the pool towels at 10am at the side of reception. When I went at 10am the next morning there was no-one there. I asked reception how you got the pool towels. The lady literally just got me some from the back room. There were no instructions on where to return the towels when you’d finished with them. It seems you just left them on your sunbed but this isn’t good because people don’t know when you’ve finished with the bed if someone left a towel behind. There should be a large bin to return them to. But why is none of this explained.

It encourages people to just leave towels on the sunbed when they are no longer use. One afternoon there were three of us on one bed with empty beds around us with towels lying on them, clearly no longer in use.

Why not have all towels on a shelf if there’s no limit in who can have one. Why employ a girl to sit there all day handing towels out.

Great hotel stay with the family, we have a seven year old who loved the pool. The only criticism I have was mixing up families with groups of lads - the last night of our stay we had a 60 minute disturbance with loud talking and slamming doors at 12.30am from our neighbors, but once they settled, they were dead quiet. Apart from that, it was a great week.

Poor cleaning service, for 3 of the 4 nights the cleaners didn’t clean cups or glasses in the room. Reception did not seem too bothered when I told them on 2 occasions. The Q for breakfast was terrible.

Excellent location, close to the beach and all good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. All staff were genuinely nice, helpful and extremely accommodating to our 2 year old daughter. Breakfast buffet was brilliant!

Only improvements that could be made would be adding equipment to the gym, mainly heavier dumbbells/weights and potentially a rowing machine. Great size hotel gym!

Also the outdoor pool isn’t heated which meant we could spend any considerable time in there with our daughter as she got cold very quickly, especially on windy days.

Only minor improvements, overall, great hotel, great staff and excellent value for money! If we didn’t love so far away (Australia) it would be a yearly visit from us.

We had a great 5 night stay in Vila Gale Marina Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even booked a trip for us.
I gave a 4 star for comfort because of the 2 single beds which slide apart on the wooden floor, a double bed would have been preferred but other than that the hotel was very good.

Proximity to the marina is good, but the down side is that it is noisy.

Another negative for families is that the hotel is favoured by golf tours, stag and hen weekends, which leads to the pool area not being very relaxing because groups can get quite noisy when they start drinking during the morning!

The hotel itself is quite dated and in need of significant investment, but the staff were helpful and friendly.

Stayed here with my son, the staff were welcoming and friendly. They went out of their way to help us when we needed it. The breakfast was nice, a good selection on offer, with friendly staff in the restaurant. The room was clean, the hotel was clean. The room was cleaned well every day. The hotel is very close to the beach and Marina. The taxi ride to the airport is about 25 mins.

We were staying to attend a wedding we found the hotel staff excellent and the pool area good but in high season I'd say there would be a shortage of sunbeds. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.It was an excellent location close to the marina and all the shops etc. I thought the indoor pool was in need of a revamp as it was a little dated.

Lovely holiday - location perfect. Very helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. We stayed half board and the food was excellent, and varied/wide selection each day. Parking around the hotel is free, though they offer secure underground parking at additional cost. Indoor and outdoor pools very clean, though outdoor pool not heated. Excellent marina is 2 minutes walk away, with good selection of bars/restaurants.

Worst hotel in Portugal trip

The room is very small. I stayed at 7 hotels in Portugal for the 12 days trip, the price of this hotel is above the medimum but the room size is much smaller. The hotel is quite old and outdated. The breakfast is the worst. Coffee doesn’t taste like coffee, hot water is room tempature, and food is not replenished.

Our check in experience was not a good start. Despite booking two rooms with a pool view (we were travelling with family) we were given a really tiny room on the side of the hotel. After complaining we were shown a room with big brown stains on the side of the mattress. In order to get a room we were happy with we had to upgrade to a junior suite, albeit at a reduced price. On the two occasions we stayed at this hotel the check-in experience was very slow. You would think that as the hotel knows you are coming they would already have the rooms allocated to you rather than having to search through the computer to find you a room.

Close to marina, beach and restaurants. Nice hotel, and reasonably friendly staff. Feeding frenzy at breakfast is annoying but the food is good. Buffet dinner is good but overpriced. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Cleaners should be called linen changers and don’t really clean. Rooms are well equipped however. I like the hotel despite these criticisms and a refurb would make it a definite 4 star hotel

Turned up at the hotel about 10:30pm, got seen to straight away, the staff was very pleasant and check in process went very smoothly, we requested tea/coffee facilities in our room, which was brought up by staff very shortly after we entered our room. Think we was fortunate to have a room the north side of the pool on the 4th floor as sun would reach our balcony about 11am, i realised some balconies opposite us probably wouldn't have sun at all. Vilamoura is a beautiful area and spoilt for things to do nearby, with having the beach and marina, there was also a great family golf place which had a 2 x 18 hole golf course in which we did one 18 hole golf course one day and the other two days later, they did a big discount for the 2 courses. One day we did the Aquashow water park which was about 3-4 miles away, which i would highly recommend for anyone, particularly for families. The Zoomarine is about a half hour drive away and is definately worth doing. Twice we walked between Vilamoura and Quarteira, its about 2 miles and its a really pleasant walk along the seafront. As for the hotel itself, everywhere was maintained well, room service was fine, all staff was very pleasant and most spoke english pretty well, the pool was very clean and a nice size, didn't really have a problem getting a sunbed, there was a pool table, football table and table tennis in this area for other activities to do. Overall we loved it here and would definately go back.

no electric outlets in huge lobby to recharge our phones..
They charge extra for your wife sharing your bed
