I last stayed in this hotel ten years ago. I was impressed them and was equally impressed again this time. The hotel is very clean, the staff were always helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good quality and tasty. The room was very comfortable with air conditioning and a lovely hot shower. The hotel now has super fast 400mb broadband which was a very welcome addition. Being only 30 minutes from the airport it was ideal for my short break

Little heads up: It was just a one nights stay.

There’s directly the U-Bahn station not even 100 meters from the hotel.
It’s rather easy to get there and a convenience store is right around the corner too.
It was a nice stay overall.

Show up or else you'll lose your money

I'm sure the rooms are lovely. The location & service, wonderful. I wouldn't know.

I was scheduled for 2 nights for a business conference, but had to cancel due to an unforeseen passport issue 4 nights prior to check in.

Hotels.com called to plead my situation, but rules are rules and the hotel flatly refused any sort of refund without any escalation or consideration whatsoever. I understand if it were the night before for a packed trade show where demand for rooms was exceptionally high, but 4 nights would (in my opinion) allow them time to rebook my room and not lose a single Euro.

My question to the hotel is, did you rent my assigned room out again or did it sit empty with a massive trade show with visitors from around the world approx 1KM away? They knew I wasn't going to show.

If my room was rented, they basically received double the payment for those evenings. If they did make double the money, well done, well done indeed.

I understand rules, but also understand unavoidable circumstances. Apparently customer service truly has it's limits. Oh well, C'est la vie.

I urge caution to any and all who are reading this. Make sure you show up.... or count on losing your money. 1 Star for the experience, but it in no way speaks to the room, cleanliness, staff service, experience, etc. I simply wouldn't know.

I had a five day stay at Hotel Brandies. I felt really at home in the lovely big room. The staff were great and the breakfast on offer very good. The hotel was right near the Underground Railroad and I easy found my way around Berlin. The palace and gardens was walking distance both were stunning. Overall this is a great place to stay.

Overall I had a great experience here. The hotel was really nice, the room was large and it was confidently located to the Exhibition Centre and subway stations. For some reason, the double bed came with two single duvets instead of one double one, and the receptionist at checkout was a little short and ill tempered. However overall I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again.

Location of this hotel is very convenient. Less than a minute walk to the U-bahn, and 20-minutes ride to most attractions. Quiet neighborhood. Most of the staff were very nice and friendly. Had a variety of breakfast items but I think it was pricey. I didn’t like the fact that there is no gym in the hotel.ovetall, it is a good place to satu.

Hotel has a strange layout as there are other parts of the building. Very old looking lift but it worked. Room was quite large and reasonably comfortable. Quite a good breakfast but not sure why you couldn't include it in the room rate.

What a wonderful Hotel is a great area in Berlin. We chose the hotel because it had parking and it was such a good find. The parking was 9 euro and the car park was just 350 meters from Hotel and a easy stroll. The Underground station was just on the street outside and made it so easy to get around. The Saff spoke English and were very helpful . You can buy the train tickets from them and not have to worry about trying to buy in the station.
The room we had was on the 5th floor . A very cute little lift was there to take us up. The window in the room opened fully for fresh ais and as it was during a heat wave we also were given a lovely fan for the room. We booked the Delux room and were not disappointed.
The breakfast was yummy and was 12 euro each and had lots fresh fruit and breads and meats and hot bacon eggs sausages and yummy rissoles.
We would certainly stay here again and recommend to all to stay. A big 10 out of 10 .

Absolutely recommend. Excellent staff, good restaurant, walking distance from the train station, to the canals and RLD. New construction building on the old, Art Deco section of the hotel, which is where they put me, but had a second floor view onto the canal that just warms the heart. If I ever come back to Amsterdam (and I hope I will), I’m staying here.

Good place to stay in Charlottenburg

We arrived the day before a public transport strike - the reception staff responded by telling us the the regional railways were still running and told us exactly which trains to use. They gave us the same help to get to Sans Souci in Potsdam. The hotel was clean and all the staff friendly. We liked the area as it was quiet with a couple of bakeries and cafes as well as a cracking restaurant (Habels Lindenwirtin)

This is the 3rd time we've stayed in this hotel and we love it. It's a prewar building with high ceilings and spacious rooms. The breakfast is wonderful. Best of all, the subway station is just out the front door. If you do have a car, we never had trouble getting a parking space.

It's a nice hotel in an older building. We stayed there one night on our way back from Copenhagen because it was close to the airport and not too expensive. It turned out to be a great find. Hotel also had one of the biggest bathrooms between the 4 different hotels we stayed at while in Berlin and Copenhagen which was nice. Quiet area and it didn't seem like there was a lot to do in the vicinity, but you're are literally a couple of steps away from the subway, where you can get a 7 euro day ticket to go practically anywhere as many times as you want, which we would highly recommend. They only give you 3 devices to connect to the Wi-Fi, but it was also extremely fast. Probably the only downside was that there was no air conditioning in the room, but they did provide you with a fan. There is also a little bit of room in the mini bar for if you want to put a bottle of something in there.

Simple, cheap hotel and one of the nicest hotels of this price range we stayed at. Tried breakfast the first morning and ended up having it every morning. Good selection, always regularly restocked. Freshly made scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits etc.

Very close to the U Bahn (route 2) so getting into town was simplicity itself if you didn’t fancy the walk in which is about 5km.

The people at the hotel, especially the one that serves breakfast, were rude at best. The area is okay, but extremely noisy making it difficult to sleep with sirens blaring and drunk people in the street yelling throughout the night. While the room I stayed in was spacious, the beds were hard. The floor may have been more comfortable than the bed, but I didn't see a vacuum cleaner once so I doubted the cleanliness of the floor.

Very nice hotel at a good price and location

I really liked this hotel ! I was staying in this hotel for 4 nights with my two 7 and 9 year old sons and was impressed about the size of the room, it was enormous. However be aware of course that not all rooms are the same, as the hotel used to be an old apartment building. Very cozy and with a nice charming antique feeling. Staff was helpful, providing maps, directions, information, etc. Breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular (different cereal, eggs, bacon, different bread, fruits, etc.) ... the usual, but for the price it was very good. Wi-Fi was very good, I managed to use Skype through it with no hassles. The location is very good, probably about 20min with the underground/U-Bahn to Alexander Platz with only one changeover.

If I had to complain about something, it would be they forgot to fill the mini bar with beer twice :) which after walking with 2 children for 6 hours at 37C (not kidding), I was dreaming with that beer upon arriving to the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel !!

Helpful, friendly staff all spoke excellent or sufficient English! Had third-floor room at back (no. 39), overlooking garden area. With window wide open, not aware of any traffic noise except occasional emergency vehicle sirens. Bed was 2 singles together with individual quilts! Fresh towels ON REQUEST, room safe (& coffee machine in reception available from 10.00 a.m.) are free. EVERYTHING else is chargeable e.g. no iron/ironing board provided but ironing service available, clean bed linen, pods for in-room coffee machine, bottled water, packs of nuts/similar snacks & mini-bar in fridge ALL chargeable. Lift worked OK but very dated/quirky by UK standards, guests with children must supervise closely. Twice we booked self-service breakfast the night before (10 Euros ppn). Can sit in breakfast room or in garden. Plenty of choice, 7 out of 10. Area around hotel seemed OK during the day, less so at night. Convinced couple of guys on pedal cycles were lining us up for robbery late one night (when we got off the U-Bahn one stop early to go into a supermarket then walked from there to hotel), so at night caution recommended until safely back in hotel. Public transport tickets available at reception. BE AWARE you MUST \"validate\" tickets (just once) in the validation machines near ticket machines in stations - ours were checked by plain-clothes officials within seconds of the train doors closing the very first time we used the U-Bahn and on another occasion during our stay.

Charming hotel with character close to metro

I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay at the Hotel Brandies Berlin. It had old world charm with modern amenities. Room was spacious and comfortable. It had character and felt unique. I enjoyed using an old school key rather than a key card. The elevator was an experience all its own and was a pleasing step back in time. The wifi worked great and I was able to easily stream content from Netflix with no issues. Breakfast was very good though seating was a bit limited in prime morning hours. The location isn't right in the heart of the Berlin attractions but it's in a nice area and is a 1 minute walk to the metro station. The public transportation in Berlin is fantastic so that's a plus for the location.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The front desk persons were pleasant and helpful. We were able to buy metro tickets at the desk which was convenient. The hotel is only a few steps from the UBahn station and you can easily get all over Berlin. There is a nice bakery just up the street and there are plenty of bars and restaurants up and down the street. The breakfast buffet was excellent and plentiful. We would definitely stay here again.

Very pretty, but expensive

We spent £100 for a single night in this hotel. It was very pretty, well decorated without compromising the original architecture of the building. Well placed by a central metro line to Berlin city center. Clean.
However, we asked for a double bed. We had 2 singles pushed together. Very little complimentary goods. Even a simple cup of tea in your own room was a euro. No entertainment. The wifi although free was slow and temperamental. Breakfast was not included. Though it was a good breakfast.

All in all. Pretty, well decorated and clean. Well located. But overpriced. With breakfast included and complimentary tea I would give this a 4/5 without hesitation.

I really enjoyed this hotel and will stay here again. Very clean and functional but with charm and attention to detail like fresh flowers in the room. Location is great for the congress center but also good for tourists since it is literally next to a u-bahn stop. Pretty and spacious rooms. Reception on checkout was not as pleasant as the woman on the previous day - in fact abrupt to rude and constantly on telephone. Nevertheless, this is where I will stay next time I´m at a conference in Berlin.

This is a gem

From the antique lift (we were told 100 years old) to the light, spacious rooms, this was pleasant and unusual accommodation for us by German standards. Modern (modular) bathroom; wireless was free; staff were helpful. The hotel is right by Kaiserdamm U-bahn station and has at least a couple of decent restaurants nearby. Pity the Messe wasn't as well connected by public transport!

Room is basic and clean. Very good shower. No air-con, it's a bit stuffy when you get into the room but fine after windows open. My room is facing backyard so very quiet at night even with windows open. Easy to get to around, 15-20 mins u-bahn travel to tourist attractions. Eur 10/person breakfast is good given not many breakfast place nearby.

Very comfortable hotel close to the U-Bahn and the ICC. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean. The hotel has a nice mix of old charm and niceties such as modern bathrooms. I stayed in the middle of summer heat, but my window opened to the courtyard and cooled off quickly in the evening and was comfortable.

Charming old time hotel near Messe Berlin

We have stayed here several times over the last few years and always have loved it. This property is by no means a luxury hotel, but offers everything (other than air conditioning) at a very reasonable price. WiFi is fast and included. Breakfast items offered change daily and come in a wide variety of foods. A highlight every time again is the historic elevator several other reviewers have mentioned. If you are attending one of the major trade shows at Messe Berlin, in our opinion this is hotel is your best choice. Walking time to Messe Berlin is about 6 minutes.

Very helpful and nice staff. Our rooms were very large and bright. Nice and clean bathrooms. Nice breakfast with many selections. The hotel has its own atmosphere and it is in a very good condition. The room had a good planning with a large bed, an arm-chairs and a sofa. We had two double rooms and they were completely different and both great. One with street view (a bit noisy) and the other on garden site- great view :)

Location near U-Bahn was very convinient (just few steps from the station). Remember to book a parking spot if you need it- hotel has only 4 spots in the garage nerby! Just a 5 min walk to ICC (though around 20 min to ICC - Messe Sud). Close to Tegel airport (around 8 km, I payed €14 for taxi). I definitely recomend this hotel!

The hotel is handy for the underground, so easy to get into the centre of the city. Our room was large and comfortable.
The list was an old-fashioned one with an outer metal door, and inner wooden one. Just like on the old films!

MD Hotel Brandies- a charming little hotel

The hotel is conveniently located to public transportation and you can get to all the sightseeing sights in a short time. The rooms are all a little different from each other which gives the hotel a unique character. The staff is extremly friendly and always willing to help. It never felt they were bothered with any question which makes all the difference to me. Around the hotel you will find a lot of different restaurants - German - Italian - Japanese - Steakhouse.... , which I thought was fantastic as we were on a business trip and it was convenient having those restaurants so close by when looking for somewhere for dinner. The hotel also offeres a breakfast buffet every morning.
In a nutshell - I would always go back and stay at this hotel when travelling to Berlin again.

quick but pleasent stay

stayed for one night before taking the bus out of Germany. Around the corner from international bus station! but not close to city center, however right next to the U stop so very easy to get anywhere. Beautiful old hotel but very nice upgrades. Hotel was delightful. It fits in the neighborhood with other residences. The rooms have been renovated with new fixtures and furnishing, and yet it still has the 'old Europe' ambience. The rooms, including bathroom, are quite spacious for European standards. Nearby restaurants were excellent.

Das Hotel ist in einem Jugendstil Bürgerhaus mit einem über 100 Jahre altem Aufzug. Der Aufenthalt war wie eine kleine Zeitreise. (Die Einrichtung der Zimmer hätte ruhig im Charme des Hauses sein können)

Wir hatten ein sehr ruhiges und sauberes Zimmer (Nr. 54).

Super Lage , ZOB 2 Minuten ent, UBahn Station vor der Tür. Besonders zu empfehlen ist das einzigartige Frühstücksbuffet welches wir kurzfristig dazu buchen konnten. Alle Milchsorten ( Hafer, Laktose frei,…) frisch gebackenes Brot, Brötchen, Obst. Alles was das Herz begehrt. Kommen gerne wieder!

Unser Zimmer Nr. 54 liegt zur Hofseite und ist angenehm ruhig. Im Badezimmer könnte die Duschtür besser gereinigt werden. Man hat die Wischspuren und Wasserspuren an den Glastüren gesehen. Ansonsten super reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet und sehr lecker. Die Betten fanden wir etwas zu weich aber dies ist Geschmackssache.
Im Großen un Ganzen kann ich das Hotel jederzeit ohne Bedenken empfehlen.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang, bequeme Matraze, angenehme Einrichtung, gutes Frühstück. ABER: Wenn das Fenster zu war, war das Zimmer stickig. War es offen, extrem lauter Verkehrslärm. Sehr schlecht geschlafen. Grundsätzlich gerne wieder, aber nur in einem Zimmer, das nicht zur Strasse rausteht oder eine Klimaanlage hat

Eine tolles Hotel zu einem absolut fairen Preis. Richtig sauber, und absolut top in Schuss, Hotel versprüht sehr viel Charme. Leider gibt es so familiär geführte Hotels immer weniger. Und man merkt einfach einen eklatanten Unterschied ob es eine x beliebige Hotelkette ist bei der oberflächlich alles schon passt, bei der man aber nur ne Nummer ist und alles wie erwarte istt oder ob man wirklich Gast ist und den Inhabern Sauberkeit, Freundlichkeit und Gastgeber sein wirklich was wert ist.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Es gibt alle Geschäfte des täglichen Bedarfs in fußläufiger Nähe. Wenn man gut zu Fuß ist, kann man so auch die Siegessäule und das Brandenburger Tor erreichen. Näher gelegen ist der Theodor Heus Platz und das Schloss Charlottenburg. Die Zimmer waren sauber, bequem und hatten eine sehr gute Größe. Trotz Kinderwagen, Spielzeug und Gepäck, war genug Platz vorhanden. Das Frühstück war sehr reichlich und für jeden war etwas dabei. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall gerne wieder!

Wir kamen um 8 Uhr früh an, durften aber bereits auf unser Zimmer, um uns frisch zu machen. Nach 17 Stunden Flixbus war das sehr willkommen. Das Hotel selbst ist in einem hervorragend und stilsicher renovierten Gebäude, mit hohen Decken und schönem Innenhof. Ein Bijou! Die Nähe zum Zentralen Busbahnhof (5 Minuten zu Fuss) und die unmittelbar beim Hotel gelegene U-Bahnstation Kaiserdamm der direkten Linie zum Alexanderplatz machen das Hotel auch vom OeV her attraktiv.

Und hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen. Obwohl es an einer Hauptstraße lag, war es sehr ruhig. Vom Straßenlärm haben wir nichts mitbekommen. Und es gab ein sehr leckeres und abwechslungsreiches Frühstück
