The Kempinski Jakarta is a great place to stay. The staff are very professional and make you feel welcome. The facilities are excellent and the breakfast superb. It's very well located with direct access to the Grand Indonesia Mall. It's close the the MRT and to a Transjakarta bus route.

The staff member at check-in charged us an amount higher than what was confirmed in our booking — and did so without disclosing it. We only realized later that we had signed for the original amount while being charged extra. When we raised the issue, the explanation was that it was a “mistake,” but the lack of transparency was concerning. On the second attempt, the correct amount was finally displayed on the card machine, but the experience left us uneasy.
Breakfast was another disappointment. Despite being a supposedly 5-star establishment, we were made to wait an unreasonably long time to be seated — something I’ve never encountered at a hotel of this calibre. For a brand of this reputation, I’d expect better organisation and guest service.

We had a wonderful stay, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was super amazing and lots of choices. Where we stayed was easy access to the Grand Indonesia and also not far from Plaza Indonesia. We were so happy that the hotel was full of history about Indonesia. We will come back when we are back in the city.

On the final evening of my stay, I visited the Executive Lounge, where Ms. Annissa kindly checked in with me and asked for feedback. I shared a few minor comments regarding wear and tear, and she took immediate steps to follow up on them.

Have been saying here more than 10 times. This time is the worst experience. I won’t list the others. Just simple thing, for the past 3 days, I asked for Eggs over easy. The chefs can’t differentiate between sunny side up vs eggs over easy. Don't believe me, the management should please go try yourself.

All is great here. Except the Japanese restaurant OKU, in the lobby. The Toro Sashimi we had was courageously speaking, the worst we ever had. My wagu dish actually tasted bad and was slimy!! The Eal was stinky and badly done with a very poor presentation. The service was even worse. Although there was only two more people in the entire restaurant besides us, we had to ask for Service to remove our plates to get new cutlery, drinks etc., etc. continuously. Very bad experience all together at the OKU. Will never put foot there. When we asked who the Chef was the waiter told us there’s two chef, which this answer by itself is another problem. He didn’t know the name!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Kempinski. I love that it's connected to Grand Indonesia from the hotel lobby. Breakfast spread was tremendous, service was top notch. The tub in the room might be the biggest I have ever seen! I am definitely planning to do a staycation here again.

Service can be better. I called for help with luggages twice but no one came. I had to bring down my luggages on my own which is a slight struggle. Staff at breakfast restaurant not as attentive. Asked for tea but they served to wrong table. The guest at other table got my tea instead of his coffee. Waiter took the tea and passed to me which to me is not hygiene as I’m not sure if it’s been drunk so I had to request for another tea. Then waiters are not sure if guests have left or went to get more food and they let new guests sit on table that the previous guests are still using as they went to get more food. It’s not very systematic from my opinion for a 5 star hotel.

Very disappointed with this time staying here. Fridge didn’t work, bath didn’t work. Then went for breakfast at 5.50 and was rudely told that breakfast started at 6.00 and told to leave. Then another guy was allowed in to sit down and wait inside for the 10 minutes.

It is a beautiful and historical property located conveniently within the main shopping belt. At the same time, some of the furniture in the room does show it's age and can do up some uplifting. While housekeeping services may be a bit slow in response, the service in the restaurants are top-notch. Very friendly and accomodating.

for context , i have stayed in grand hyatt, pullman and kempinski in Jakarta.
i had a grand deluxe room in kempinski. it was very very big. i really liked the space and the fancy bathroom. the shower had incredible water pressure. the room was very clean nice ) albeit a little dated in decor). very appropriate for 5 star. loved the big bathtub, tv in bathroom (altho it didn’t work), bathrobes and living room area. got late checkout for 2pm. overall great stay. for price, i prefer grand deluxe room in kempinski vs pullman grand deluxe or grand hyatt standard room. i also prefer grand indonesia mall connected to kempinski vs plaza indonesia mall which is connected to hyatt (pullman requires walking outside to get to plaza indonesia or sarina mall)
areas to improve:
-gym has great view and is good size, however no spin bike (if you like to do your own peloton workouts etc); pool is abit smaller than pullman.

Lovely two night stay - all the quality I’d expect from a Kempinski hotel. Efficient check in, lovely room, great pool area and wonderful staff. Oh and the breakfast buffet is EPIC! Go local and you won’t be disappointed.

I gave them rating 3/5 for the condition as my room has a slightly minor messy ceiling. Probably the staff can do the check the ceiling on the left side near the window of room 708. They didn’t place the hole cover perfectly.

Beside of the thin wall of my bedroom which put me no privacy. Breakfast is another worst part. They gave us options to choose the time to book the breakfast, an hour per session. But on my first day, I just had my breakfast there for 20 minutes - My cousin and I were out searching for the food, we already left our sanitizer spray purposely so that they should have known we hadn’t done yet. But cleverly, they cleaned up the table (we sanitized before), they threw away our foods and they also took away our sanitizer spray. That was even only 20 mins since we started eating. Don’t they have the system to train their employee?
I do love travelling and staycation. But for something terrible like this, I doubt I will consider their hotel’s name again anytime anywhere. Hopefully they read this review of mine.

My stay was not a pleasant experience. Throughout my staying experience, only the check out process was the only pleasant service for me. I truly appreciated to the guy who nicely helped me checking out and asking me for the feedback of my staying experience.

Don’t you see that I am holding so much things and you can actually just tap my bag using your sensor stick. Is it because I only wore tshirt, short and flipflop?

When I asked him to register my car for free parking. He confirmed that I’d only have 1 night stay which I correct that I had 2 nights instead of 1. But he kept insisting that I only had 1 night. Can’t he just make sure or even ask for the check in counter rather than insisting for something that’s not right

We were a bit embarrassed at the check-in - quiet cold, impersonal and unfriendly for us after all the obstacles of COVID testing after arrival, waiting for results and finally getting to the hotel to be met by masked indifference.
IN our room the doors separating the bathroom from room never opened or closed safely. Throughout the stay we had little interaction with staff who seemed to not be interested in guests.

excellent stay... i requested high floor and room facing the Thamrin fountain, and got both.. it was to celebrate our wedding anniv and we got the customary congratulations note scribbled on the window and also a complimentary choco cake which was super delicious..
had a great stay... the white glove treatment by the staff was excellent... the breakfast staff were very accomodating and let me use one of my unused breakfast vouchers to bring some fried rice to my kids in the hotel room.
the pool, albeit a little small, was good.. abit windy up on the 17th floor... but the jacuzzi helped keep us warm after swimming.. you need to reserve time slots (max90 mins) to use the pool, bookings can be done up to 1 day before.. due to the limited capacity, the pool felt very spacious
