The hotel is OK but looking very tired. I opted for the Executive room which didn't match the description on Hotels.com. When checking with reception I was advised that the room I was in was correct, which it definitely wasn't. As it was late in the day I didn't have the energy to debate. In the morning I discovered my shower didn't work as the heat adjustment knob was broken so after wasting 15 minutes I had to run a bath. When mentioning to the lady on reception she wasn't bothered and just asked if I was checking out today??? Overall it was OK, not great though and I won't be returning.

This is the third time I have stayed at the hotel. The staff were lovely as usual and the food and drink also nice.

Clearly the hotel was very busy as the only option I had was a twin room. The room I had (254) was average. The shower was weak and the spray was intermittent, and there was sign of some limescale/mould between the tiles. I'm not a fan of this.
The bed was relatively comfortable but it has had better days. The section of the hotel where the room was and the room itself felt a bit tired.

On balance, I would stay again, but I would not stay either in that part of the hotel or that room.

My room was ok , it was quite hot and the bathroom was designed for someone with disabilities. Whilst not a huge deal, having the sink to low wasn’t ideal for me.
Waited a bit longer than expected to be seen and seated at breakfast.

The hotel is lovely from the outside, a great period property with a beautiful tree covered drive way and expansive gardens, however, this is where the impressive nature of the hotel ends

I was booked into an executive room, I treated myself to a larger room as I was there for 2 nights.

To call this executive’ makes me wonder what the rest of the rooms look like. The room was small, with dated worn furniture, an 80’s bathroom, cracked tiles, missing taps in the shower, and stains round the edge of the bath and toilet. The curtains were hanging off the rail, there’s were stains on the ceiling and room looked like it needed a good paint.

This walls the second ‘executive’ room I was offered, and this was the lesser of two evils.

For me, if you call a room ‘executive’ you need to have certain standards, one of the is you need to be able to walk up the sides of the bed with out a squeezing past the curtain and the window (think I may have discovered why the curtains are hanging off)

The picture the hotel shows you of the rooms are nothing like the actually room. The website shows modern furniture, large padded headboards, usb charring points for phone etc. the reality is trying to plug your phone into the hidden port behind the beside table, which is impossible to move given the space between the bed and the wall….. the spiders webs made the whole experience even more nauseating.

Reception were unable to anything for me, other than shrug.

With this falling under the Signature collection for Best Western, my expectation levels were dsomewhat heightened. Fortunately, most were met. The setting for the hotel was picturesque. My room was quite close to reception with lovely, high ceilings and a nice layout. I used the onsite gym for a workout which was a room converted with some equipment and knowledge that it is barely used but was still able to provide a half decent workout. The shower was hilarious. There was a sign in the bathroom alluding to the age of the property and that hot water may take it's time to come through. They were not downplaying this at all as it took several minutes for the water to finally heat up. The bed was really comfy and allowed a good night's sleep. Breakfast was really good with a good range of cooked items and continental on a buffet system. Aside from the odd thing, it was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

This is the second time I've stayed here with work. Have enjoyed both occasions.

Staff are friendly and attentive, rooms are clean, comfortable and with decent facilities. Food and drink is good quality and reasonable price.

Only criticism would be the car park - can get v busy and some spaces are very tight.

Aside from that, lovely hotel and will be staying there again.

Arrived early had a nice walk around the grounds, looked in need of tlc around the building perimeter. Tried to check in at the desk had to go on a hunt fur a staff member. The room was ok but hadn't been cleaned very well there was a prescription tablet on the floor by the bed! The TV had sound but no picture managed to re set it on wall behind unit.
Wanted to shower in the evening, it was stone cold. Spoke to reception and offers us another room. That shower was just as bad, no pressure just trickled out, very frustrating when we had been out all day extremely hot and tired and just wanted a quick shower. That also didn't get very warm! Overall considering it boasted 'signature' hotel I wasn't impressed the staff were minimal and even breakfast wasnt great the coffee was horrible.

Second time staying, was less enjoyable than the first time. Could do with intergrating air conditioning units into the room for warmer days due to restless nights, also there was rubbish under the bed and dust around the room, there were other guests outside until around midnight smoking drugs on the garden which lingered into our room so had to shut the windows. Breakfast and the hot chocolate is the main reason for our return.

I’m sure the hotel was once very grand, but has not been kept up properly. The common areas were nice, but that’s the only positive. Our room was far down a dirty hallway and the room itself was not impressive at all. Carpet looked like it needs to be replaced years ago, the bed and pillows may be the worst we have ever encountered. The chair was black velvet and covered in dirt and hair. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone

Hotel was fine, it had had some freshening up but parts were slightly tired looking. Sauna area was not cleaned thoroughly. Gym exceptionally small, very basic equipment. Hot tub was only accessible at certain times which changed each day. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and good quality. Ordered room service and food was cold on arrival. Asked for room reset each day and this was not done fully I.e. bed not made, tea bags replaced but not milk, fresh towels provided but toiletries not replaced.

The only negative is how cold the room was. Heating wasn't sufficient enough to warm the room from the time I turned it on to bedtime which was about 4 hours. Other than that over all it was a good stay. I would ring reception in future to put heating on in the room before I arrive. Would definitely use this hotel again. Food was usual pub grub.

A convenient and pleasant hotel to stay for a one night business trip. The staff were great and the facilities were good. Food was acceptable but nothing out of this world.

One thing I will say is that it was extremely cold, the rooms are quite old but I understand the place is going through a refurbishment so that is to be expected. My room was incredibly cold, there was only one small radiator under the single glazed windows keeping the room warm and it wasn’t even on Full. The water in the shower it was also incredibly cold despite there being a note saying for you to leave it running for a few minutes, it was still quite cold and I couldn’t turn it up. Luckily, I had some fluffy pyjamas to keep me warm but when the temperature outside is below freezing, this really isn’t acceptable.

Oscars restaurant was offering good food but service was rather slow and the dress code for the lady servers was rather risqué!
Currently would not stay again until I was confident that it had been improved.

My stay was ok but my room STANK of cigarette smoke - like the old hotels from days when smoking was allowed. I'm not a smoker and the smell hit me every time I walked in the room. The food was average - breakfast was limited and dinner - £25-30 for a main course - the pork belly was very dry and salty and the lamb shank and trimmings were salty. The service was excellent and I can't fault the staff themselves.

We had an overnight stay with our 2 kids after spending the day at the West Midlands Safari Park, what a lovely hotel it was. A proper country feel.
We had a fast check in, all very friendly and welcoming. The room was great for just an overnight with a sofa bed for the kids. We had a garden view and on the ground flour. The bathroom was a wet room, very modern and spacious.
Breakfast/dining area was beautiful, over looking the garden and terrace area. A great choice for breakfast(full English, pastries, cereals, fruit etc) and lovely coffee. We would love to come back again and maybe stay for a couple of nights.
It was the perfect stay, much better than staying in a sky rise chain hotel any day.
Would definitely recommend.

Arrived at midnight. Room had been left with windows open and lights on. So many bugs!

Asked for another room. Was put into a double but there were 3 of us.

Eventually given a third room after being asked to wait in the very messy bar area. Was past 1am before we had a room.

Breakfast was badly staffed. Had to ask for milk, cutlery, a spoon, plates. No pasteries restocked, no fried eggs or hash browns restocked. After already asking for 4 separate things already, I didn't fancy asking for even more.

Should have been nice but obvious there are not anywhere near enough competant staff to provide any level of service.

A piece of countryside in the heart of a town

This is a fantastic hotel, really helpful and friendly staff. Our room was huge with comfortable beds, the room was very clean and had black out curtains. No mini fridge in the room which would have been nice. The restaurant and bar are gorgeous rooms, lovely decor throughout the hotel. The grounds are a nice place for a stroll. Brrakfast was fantastic, lots of choice. I would stay here again.

The hotel amd grounds are nice, unfortunate the executive room i booked was poor. Its a little run down, the hot water took nearly 10 mins to heat up and the water pressure in the shower was dreadful. More leaked out of the hose than the head. The bar service took an age, they ran out of Guiness, the Worthingtons was flat. When they serviced the room there was no milk or coffee left, when i went to reception i was told they had run out? I mean it's a week before Xmas don't you think you should have stock?

For the price this hotel was fine. But everything was a little dated. The room was freezing on arrival but soon remedied by turning the radiator on - perhaps leave this on low at least.
The water situation for the shower wasn’t great and there was a sign saying it was due to the age of the building etc. but I’m not convinced.
The food in the restaurant was very good and we also saw people eating huge portions in the bar too.

From the moment we arrived we received a warm and friendly welcome. We did the pre-checkin so had the key immediately and went to the room.
It was a standard room, not big but sufficient in size. Good facilities in the room, tea/coffee making, biscuits too. There was a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board in the room too.
Bathroom had small amount of soaps to use.
I used the small gym on site too which was quite nice with all the essential equipment and items free for residents to use 24/7.

The self serve buffet breakfast was very nice. Bread, pastries,cold meats, cereals, cooked food and juices. All very nice. Soya milk was made available on request.

Some really small points - lightning in the room (132) could be a little better especially around the wardrobe, and I didn't consider the bed to be super luxurious. It wasn't terrible but maybe time for a replacement. And, perhaps have soya milk readily available to all at breakfast.

The most positive point was the service, all the staff we met were really friendly and made our stay at the Southcrest a really nice one.

Room was clean and comfortable. This is a stately house well loved and looked after ( don’t expect new clinical rooms) steeped in history wonderful Thankyou very much

Nice spot, need more serving staff

Hotel was very nice and so were the staff but there seemed to not be enough serving staff so the service wasn’t great.
