Pleasant staff on arrival nice and prompt attention, lovely surroundings outside. Comfortable room with great corner bath for much needed relax. Most excellent steak pie for supper. All positive, only negative would be poor wifi connection booster required i would suggest . Nevertheless great stay for business travelling

beds were comfortable though it was a bit hot with the quilt on. room was a bit dark. could do with another window. internet was good. plenty of space in the room. enough for 3 of us. though the toilet door wasnt lockable, the bathroom door would open if someone opened the front door. grounds were lovely just needs a little tlc. didnt take any photos of room

Lovely country pub, with easily accessible rooms with motel-style parking. Only negative with our room (7) was the rain shower with a silly design, no chance of a shower without getting your hair wet - not always ideal for ladies! But nice with a walk-in shower! The cooked breakfast was great.

Convenient room, a little tired around the edges but didn't detract from the stay.

Needs updating asap!!!

Staff lovely people and the owner. Can’t fault that. The rooms and back of pub. My god needs a good upgrade. Didn’t sleep much at all. I felt dirty. Smell in room not nice. Room 4 boiler in room loud and cold room.

I could hear rats or mice scuttling in the ceiling at night. Food all tasted microwaved/defrosted, hair in the food. Would not recommend.

Weekend stay

Have stayed a few times over the years, the room was nice, but could do with a make over, and the shower needs something doing with it, it isn't a walk in shower, more like a climb in. Food in the restaurant was delicious, even though there wasn't a big choice, it was all delicious, the chef even made fresh apple sauce for one of the party. Hopefully next time we stay, we will see a difference min the room

New owners taken over don't be fooled by reviews!

Stay many places always about for business. Booked this short notice on the reviews being 8.5.
I didn't experience 8.5 service!
On arrival place fully locked up, sign on the door, list of names, room numbers and keys in each door. Help yourself attitude to the letter and list.
I had room 7. Cleanish but a strong damp musty smell. Damp in the walls I suspect, carpet rotting or breaking up. Bit run down in places generally.
I paid extra £10 a morning for breakfast. No where near worth the money, terrible service at breakfast as well.
Evening meal is ok but not much choice, expect to have something with chips!
Bed was comfortable seemed clean and the location means it's quiet here. Those being the main bonus to this stay.
Free parking free WiFi also a bonus.
When I mentioned my experience I was told they've just been taken over. All prior reviews are for the previous owners / business operator.
So beaware things could get better or be just as bad.

A comfortable stay here . Rooms are behind the pub a motel style room ... Everything I needed ...clean comfortable . Tea making facilities.
Plenty of free parking.
Pub excellent for food and real ale.

Not recommended if you are travelling on business

The room was cold and somewhat dated. Could not run a full bath as not enough hot water, no shower to use as an alternative. I was a solo traveller in a double room so no way could two people have had a bath.

WiFi was virtually non existent and no phone signal at all so a poor location if you are on business.

On a positive the staff were grand the breakfast was okay

The pub picture looks inviting and the price was afordable. The bathroom was pretty basic and mouldy. The bed was ok but nothing like standard hotels. That said the price was a bit cheaper. Everything else was good and the staff were very helpful

Comfortable and good value

We stayed at Queen's Head for a weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The family room was clean and comfortable. Although it is a bit dated, it was cosy and warm. The staff were nice, and breakfast was also very good.

Shabby, in need of investment and t.l.c.

Fairly basic accommodation in a lodge bedroom en suite. The bedroom felt slightly damp and it and the bathroom were a little tired. The bathroom would have benefited from a deep clean and was dated. Parking was immediately outside the room. Breakfast was fine, but lacked items such as muesli and fresh fruit. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall the place needs some investment and modernisation. We wiould not be keen to repeat the experience!

Was only there for the night.

No one on reception, people started to queue so had to go to the bar (which is lovely)

No food though. (Bank holiday Sunday/busy hotel/quiet village)

The room was mouldy, bathroom falling to bits. Hardly anywhere to charge your phone.

I think they need to knock the hotel idea on the head and stick to being a great pub.

Nice overnight stay - nice bar and restaurant.
Motel type of accommodation which is outside of the main building .
Very quiet even being opposite a patio drinking area .
The Family Room was nice but a little damp and musky smell but other than that it was nice .

Not too far from the East of England Show ground where we needed to go. Lovely food nice set up rooms outside so needed a coat if it was raining to get from room to main building but not a problem easy to have car right outside the room. Lovely biscuits with the tea/coffee but not enough!! but able to ask for more.

Dirty sheets see mysterious stain attached. Heating permanently on, nasty smell outside, pathetic WiFi and Surly staff. Only plus was Tash breakfast cooked to order.

I was a bit wary after reading a few other reviews but was very happy with our stay. Check in was very quick and we were given suite 1 close to the stream. Beautiful older buildings and you get a little cottage to yourself. We went to the pub for dinner of fish and chips which was also very good

Motel style which suited me as I had a bicycle and went for a ride in the evening, parked car outside room. A bit tired in places but still reasonable value for money. Food good, breakfast simple but good full English. Would stay again.

Lovely pub

Nice country pub in a great location by the River Nene. Beer well kept and food pretty good, especially the scallop, bacon and black pudding starter. The staff were without exception pleasant, helpful, efficient and friendly, a real asset to the place. The rooms are in an annexe at the back and are a good size. Bed is comfortable and there are extra pillows in the enormous wardrobe. Positives: plenty of plug sockets, ample supply of tea/coffee, shower pressure and temperature good, a comfortable bed, a good size TV with plenty of available channels and excellent Wi-Fi (I was able to watch BT Sport on my phone). Negatives: there is NO mobile connectivity except in a couple of points in the car park, the bathroom is a bit tired and could do with redecorating, and the shower cubicle is quite small meaning that it's easy to hit the tap and increase the temperature suddenly! Overall, a very positive experience.

We booked 2 rooms, and only stayed the 1 night. we ate in the restaurant which was lovely and the young lady who checked us in, served us at the bar, and looked after us in the restaurant was superb.

Lovely location. Bar and dining room staff polite and friendly.

Main course food on the dry side. Another couple sent food back. Manageress mis-handled situation, brought Chef out who proceeded to be aggressive with Customers - clearly did not know how to handle negative feedback. Manageress then discussed with other locals in the bar area in front of other Customers.

Room would have been fine if surfaces had been dusted.

Shame ........

Individual rooms in a courtyard setting surrounding the car park make them easily accessible, which was especially good for us as we were out late at a wedding so could get in our rooms easily late at night with pre provided key. Staff were very friendly and helpful - there was a mix up with the cost & staff were very helpful to resolve. Full English Breakfast was tasty. We were lucky to have a nice spacious room with hot shower & tea/coffee making facilities. Only downfall was dim lighting in the room & could do with updating, but nothing drastic. 4 stars. Thanks

smells like poop.

Really the most disgusting smell in the room. I tried to locate the problem, but could not. There was no hot water, and I woke up with a giant black spider skittering around in my suitcase. The pub was nice.

Stayed as working in Peterborough. No food available Sunday night, no breakfast available Monday morning. The entrance looked liked the stone/ceramic floor needed a good scrub. The bathroom was not overly clean, black on the shower head, damp or condensation on the floor by the lavatory bowl. Seen better days. Expected better for the price of £61.

And this hotel made it just that, the manager and staff couldn't do enough for us.
The food is second to none, and a excellent choice of wines to wash it down.
Great decor in keeping with area and period.

Small double bed with aged cheap spring mattress. Bed sheets torn and paint on mattress cover. Only one towel in room despite booked for 2 guests. old bathroom suite with no stand up shower (shower hose over bath), loose broken toilet seat, a few sheets of toilet paper on the roll with no spare, worn sink taps (difficult to control), literally an inch of dust and cobwebs in room. Room itself is large and appeared recently decorated and the setting and surroundings great. Breakfast adequate reasonable for price. Just low on comfort factor and no quality control. Seemed some other rooms have been refurbished bathrooms etc.

Great food in the country!

An excellent country pub at a very reasonable cost. If you stay here, do eat in the restaurant in the evenings. The food is exceptionally good and the service is top class. We did not pre-book breakfast and we were pleased to see that individual items, such as a bacon sandwich or toast, could be ordered,thus avoiding a giant \"full breakfast\" which can often be too much to eat. We will recommend this pub to anybody interested in visiting the area.

The only negative point was the poor (none) phone signal in rooms. To get a signal meant leaving the room and walking around the gardens until a usable signal was found.

A nice village pub with excellent food

A very pleasant village pub which has been upgraded to a modern (almost) open plan interior but remains cosy. Attentive service and wonderful food. Rooms are separate from the main building being large and comfortable albeit maybe the shower/toilet a little tired but clean.

Well equipped rooms, quiet peaceful setting

Booked through Expedia, hotel is lovely, unfortunately they charged £20 extra for breakfast, which makes the Expedia price look good at first glance. Expedia need to make this known when people are booking B&B! The hotel though is excellent, great place to stay, would recommend it.

A nice place for a quiet weekend getaway

The rooms are like little chalets running the length of the car park. Very spacious and private. As each room had its own front entrance from the car park you would be free to come and go as you please at any time. Shower room (no bath) could do with modernising but all perfectly functional. Pub looked lovely - open fires and flagstone floors. No phone signal in the area but wifi worked ok for the most part. At the back of the car park there is a river which is very pretty.
