The room was lovely & meal . We stayed for New Year’s Eve . There was no atmosphere no build up to bring the new year in . There was a band upstairs full of youngsters is was crazy they where sick over the toilets floors sinks walk ways glasses smashed everywhere .then started damaging the property it was crazy . We stayed in the restaurant out of the way . Really disappointed wouldn’t stay there again unfortunately .

We had a classic bedroom which was fine for staying the one night. It’s an old building but you can see how they’ve made the best of that. Great facilities in the rooms. Parking was easy and close to hotel. Warm and cosy. Shower was hot but need to change the shower head. Bit of a draft with the old windows but the heavy curtains and large radiator kept the room nice and warm. A mirror at the dressing table would be nice but I was happy sitting by the fabulous wall to ceiling mirror to dry my hair. We loved our stay and would definitely return. Thank you.

Rm 27 was a bit tired needs renovation. Especially the bathroom. It’s a long walk to the room surely the lighting and decoration might make the journey more pleasant Still no EV charging , forcing me to stop in Cardiff or Newport. Stops that I should not need to do.

The Bear is well located in the heart of Cowbridge with ample parking. The restuarant and bar were good (and very popular \"conservatory\" area at its heart (lunch and dinner were busy). Food options walkable nearby. Breakfast across road in Penny Farthings - very good.

We stayed for 1 night. Staff and hotel were excellent, the kids bed was a bit small and uncomfortable for a 10 year old but the overalll stay was great and food was lovely in the restaurant. We didn’t get to try breakfast unfortunately as we had to leave at 7.30am and breakfast didn’t start till 8am

Room was excellent but dinner in the hotel restaurant disappointing. Several dishes not on, which meant the choice was limited, and even the wine we asked for was unavailable. Wine list was London prices (but we were in South Wales). Inclusive breakfast in Penny Farthing opposite was fantastic. Would stay here again but book for dinner in the Duke of Wellington pub opposite.

The only issue I had was that people were smocking outside by the entrance of the building just below my room window. Had to shut the window as smoke was coming in the room. Need to have a designated smocking area away from the rooms.

The bathroom could do with a shelf to put our toiletries on. (instead we had to use the top of the loo) A light fitting above the large mirror was present but we couldn't see how it worked. If at all.

The room was clean, but attention to details were a little lacking. Thick dust on the bathroom extractor, dust on plug socket tops etc. The shower screen was clean but build up around the hinges.
The four poster bed was beautiful to look at, but we found it a little uncomfortable. (personal taste). It was also quite noisy when turning during the night.
Now I'm not suggesting that my review should put off anyone staying here, we would come back in a heartbeat! It's to draw attention for the management to address.

We found the room super comfortable. Excellent bed. Great pillows and just what we needed after a week at a less than stellar air BnB. Book your stay at this wonderful establishment. This is a charming hotel. We were on the third floor in an alcove room. The free breakfast is at their sister restaurant across the street, The Penny Farthing, which was cute and delicious. We were happy with just about everything except that our toilet was leaking across the floor and one of the showers I took was cold. We later found out that there was a problem with the hot water and that they fixed it. The location was great for shopping and walking along the main street in Cowbridge.

Lovely hotel and the town’s high street was a great find. I stayed for business and the hotels Wi-Fi was awful, meaning I couldn’t do the work I’d planned to and the mobile reception in the town was equally bad. So while the location was lovely it was a very frustrating overnight stay!!

Only very slight negative on room, was that on our first night, we could only get luke-warm water from the shower. Ate in the restaurant and meal was good quality overall.
