Bad Experience, Room dirty etc.

The room don\"t have comb, toothbrush, bath gel. Also the bedsheet was dirty. The floor was tiles. Wifi was very,very bad. Breadfast cold even at 6.30am. Not worth the money. Will not stay again.

Horrible hotel which doesn't even fit 2 stars.

This hotel is not even worth 2 stars (maybe 10 years ago). I felt that we got deceived by the fake photos posted online cause the interior and exterior were not as it shows on the photos online. The first night we got there, the staff approached us with an unwilling attitude without a smile on his face. The receptionist didn't answer our questions correctly, and worst of all did not even give us our breakfast ticket until we asked the next day. They did not even tell us the WIFI password. The WIFI also only works intermittently. When we got to the room, we were even more disappointed. They did not provide shower cream, tooth brush and tooth paste, and asked us to get ourselves with a horrible attitude. The next day when we go for breakfast, they did not let us in because we didn't have the breakfast ticket which they should have given us on the first day when we check-in. We asked whether we can go in by showing our room key but the old lady receptionist refused to let us into the dining hall. We ran to the lobby reception to get our tickets. We saw the old lady receptionist give others who just showed her the room key access to the dining hall. We felt that this was ridiculous and an extremely unfair treatment. We also asked the lobby receptionist for direction to certain places and railways, but they gave very confusing and incorrect direction. The day before we left, we also saw tiny bug crawling on the bed sheet. Overall, a horrible hotel and bad experience.

The hotel location is close to eateries and few minutes walk to Pratunam Night Market, Room is clean but no tea making facilities even the electric jug is provided. Breakfast is just ok with less choices of pastries. The Deluxe room at the corner of the floor is very spacious with seating and coffee table

The picture of this hotel on the website is very misleading. It's a very small basic budget hotel n interior of rooms is very basic budget. Breakfast is terrible n there is no air-con in the room n windows can't b open. The lamps doesn't work so room became very dark. You can pay a little more n stay somewhere better. Receptionist are very polite though. Lots of guests talking n hanging in the corridor making heat n noise even worse.

They are cheats. Instead of a superior room 305sq ft booked they gave ordinary room about 140sq ft. Wi-Fi not working most of the time. No hair dryer no news paper. Also insisted on deposit of 2000thai baht even though the hotel charges prepaid . The reception desk was very uncourteous. Area in which the hotel is located is also dirty and crowded.

Overall a value hotel.

The hotel itself is not bad, however on all 3 days we stayed there, there were lot of noisy groups.

The hotel is just a 10 min walk from platinum mall. They have quite a number of wifi AP which gives pretty strong wifi everywhere in the hotel.

The service and the breakfast buffet is average. Overall, considering the price, it is ok.

Basically what you pay is what you get. But in our case,we got more than what we paid for! Although the heater didn't always have hot water, it was of small issue to us. The room was clean and comfortable. Walking distance (abt 10 mins) from palladium and platinum mall. However,I think because it was situated near to some pubs, loud noises can be heard in the middle of the night although it only lasted for a while. Overall,it was a pleasant stay!

Walking distance to most shopping mall. Do not provide kettle, tea and coffee. Need to pay 30 Baht for 1 day use of kettle. Very noisy early morning (whistle blowing) because too many tour buses opposite hotel eg Ramada and Bangkok Palace Hotel.

Not as close to pratunam shopping area as claimed

Prior to my arrival I have sent email (twice in fact) to enquire whether I can travel there by airport link but did not receive any reply from them. So don't bother to email them. I took a taxi to the hotel instead.
All the taxi and \"tuk tuk\" I have taken when returning to the hotel do not know how to get there. It is advisable to print the map from the Hotel website and show it to them.

Me and sis stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. Although not the 5 star feel, but overall was a great stay for us. For the price we paid, this is definitely not anywhere downstairs to shopping malls. Walking is a must in Bkk...but If you know how to walk to Platinum mall, central, it is actually not far. Surrounded the hotel, there are 7-eleven and some food stalls. The hotel food is excellent as well. The service staff are great. EVen though we did not book our transport to the airport from the hotel, when we were leaving, the helped us get a taxi to the hotel. Will definitely go back again! Thanks for making our stay great!

Blackout on raining day

Overall, the room was spacious and the hot water was consistent. But the wifii was unstable. There was no water boiler and just a chinese channel. There was a blackout on a raining day and it happened on our checkout day. We had to throw our luggage down the stairs as the lifts were not working. The staff said that it is common during raining days.

Hotel Location is great however there was some disconnect about the complementary breakfast. According to them its fault of Hotels.com who commits wrong things to customer. Staff are friendly but never use their Hotel Taxi service, the taxi drivers outside hotel will just charge double or triple. Use another taxi.

If its Bangkok, It has to be Ecotel..!

The Location of this Hotel is just convenient. The street shopping is around the corner and Good Happening Malls are at just 5 mins driving distance on TukTuk / Cabs. The Breakfast is really good with Thai, English / Continental, Cereals (Huge Variety), Fresh Cut Fruits, Milk, Tea, Coffee, Variety of Juices n Breads. The Staff at front desk were very courteous. They Gave us a room 8 Hours before their check-in Time, which was really great. They could not offer us a free late check-out which is ok. The late check-out rate is just 500 THB for checkout by 1600 Hours. The location of this hotel is Ideal. there is a shoppee inside the hotel and a Seven Eleven Store just outside which is open 24x7 and they have everything from Food to Snacks, Drinks, Beer, any general stuff...!

Despite being close to a train station, that's about the only interesting thing in that area.

I booked a tripple for four people somehow. Despite a bit of confusion, the professional staff got us situated quickly.

WiFi Internet access was only strong enough in the lobby, which was annoying.

The free water in the fridge was a welcomed respite from the heat. The toiletries provided were also nice, considering that isn't standard in equally priced hotels we stayed in.

Overall quite pleasant for a budget hotel. However, the front desk staff were not exactly very friendly and they often don't smile. When asked for a taxi, we were told that we had to flag a taxi outside on our own, even when going back to the airport.
Room was made up nicely on our first few days even though we did not request for the room to be made up. However, the same service was not provided on our last day and water was not refilled. We had to call to request for water and fresh towels.

Nice hotel. A short walk to 7 eleven and Pratunam.

I arrived at 0830 and was allowed to check in into the hotel. The receptionists were friendly (i was prepared to face some sulky and arrogant person there after reading some reviews about their unfriendliness) Hotel room was average in size but clean. There is a 7 eleven just a stone throw away and that makes it so convenient to get mineral water and prepacked food incase one is hungry. There are many massage shops opposite the hotel and also as you walk towards Pratunam market. A walk to the junction of Pratunam Market takes about 10 min.
Breakfast was average with not much choices otherwise a pleasant hotel.

Overall experience was ok expect the lack of internet connection in rooms. One have to wait till 6pm to get connection and at 5th floor there is no proper connection and there are no ac in the common areas in passages. Would be great if they solve this wifi problems.

Hotel location is a tad too far from the buzz. Counter staff are always ready to help and speak good English. Pillows are too soft for my liking and the room did have a weird smell which disappears after turning on the air conditioning. The buffet breakfast is disappointing, at the price I would rather have it elsewhere. Overall the hotel is satisfactory but the poor location means I would be finding another hotel for my next stay.

Ok if you're not particular or looking for luxury

It's not really close to the shopping areas like Pratunam and Platinum mall and it's quite a walk. The exterior of the hotel is very nice but the interior is quite contrasting. Breakfast is not worth to wake up for and I would rather try their local food from the stalls or just sleep through.
It's not recommended to walk back at night as the alleys are dark and remote.

Good location for travellers who are coming for shopping with lots of food joints and 711 near by,soft spoken staff and clean rooms.They can give some thought on the breakfast as they have a fixed menu for all days and travellers staying for two or more days do get bored to see the same food every day even though the food served was tasty.Advise to all avoid the tuk tuk and take a meter taxi as it is cheaper and more comfortable.

Stay was average but the hospitality was really poor. Every one in reception treated as if we are staying free in the hotel. Hotel.com should not recommend such hotels in their website. When we booked our room it was inclusive of breakfast but at the hotel they refused to serve the breakfast saying it is not included in our room tariff. How did that happened we don't know?.......It was not value for the price . When we roamed in Bangkok we saw many hotels better than Ecotel with lesser prices..............

The hotel is practically good and value for money. Stayed there for 3 nights. Upon 2nd night, the slippers was changed. The heater works fine for us, except the water pressure is a bit on and off. It is walking distance to Indra Sqaure, Pratunam market. There are a lot of shops around the hotel and it is quite convenient to buy food.
But the hotel is quite far away from Chit Lom BTS. Have to walk about 800metres to the Chit Lom BTS from the hotel.
Beware of those taxi drivers and tuk tuk around the hotel ripping you off. Taxi meters charges from the hotel to MBK is about 60bahts. BTS to MKS (National Stadium) is about 22 bahts each.
Ask for a not drawn to scale map provided free by the hotel. It will shows you the shopping centre and place of interests in the map.

I am sorry to say that this hotel experience was one of the worst I have had. The room was dirty (345)- I am not sure what was splattered on the walls next to the mirror, the sheets were stained and dingy. The room was poorly insulated for sound and we heard partying guests down the hall- I asked them to quiet down at 11pm and then called the desk to complain at 1am and again at 4am. Then in the morning, we were woken by other guests at the lifts. The buffet breakfast was bland and dishes were often empty.
Hotel staff appeared to be helpful, but were definitely party to taxi schemes to overcharge. Take the time to walk to the corner and save yourself money by using a metered taxi instead.

Hotel is abit toofar from main road. But the staff is very helpful &provide extra services (that I have sprained my foot which I can walk any distant.The Poter went to the drug store bought for me cream & bandage)
All rall I am pleased with the service. The only thing that the room should have a electric flask which we can boiled hot water.

Valuable for money but a distance to walk

It is directly opposite Ramada Hotel. So when you take a taxi, say opposite Damai Hotel and they would understand. The wifii is strong and the breakfast consists of noodle, rice, vege dishes, soup, porridge, cereals, salads, sausages, bread, fruits and beverages. However it is a distance to walk from Platinum Mall. Can be a tiring 20 mins walk after a long day of shopping. Valuable for money for a SGD48 per night.

Although there were some things about the hotel including a few staff members who were nice, these aspects were unfortunately out shined by its several other flaws. The beds were decently comfortable, but the water pressure in the shower was so horrible my hair didn't feel clean the entire trip. The night staff is INCREDIBLY rude, I had 2 encounters, one of which the man at the front desk yelled at me because I didn't understand the meaning of his incorrect English. The so called WIFI only works in the lobby, and the breakfast buffet was decent but only if you get there when all is hot at 6am. Could probably find a better stay elsewhere for a better price.

Simple hotel in a good location

Simple, clean hotel with minimum fuss or gimmicks. The lobby looks rather posh but other than it, the hotel looks pretty much like a 3star stay. Breakfast is okay but the wireless internet connection was rather weak in the rooms. Location wise, it is excellent, just about 10min walk to the Airport link train and 15min to the much-adored Platinum Mall.

If you are not asking much for a 4-5 day stay at BKK, this hotel is pretty much a good choice.

Reasonable hotel priced reasonably

Considering how much I paid for 6 nights stay, I would rate this hotel 4 out of 5.

The hotel location would be quite good if you mainly enjoy shopping in Siam area and Pratunam Market/Square, which are all in walk-about ranges (took me about 20 - 25 mins walk to BTS Siam Station).
Even to main Temple areas (somewhere like Wat-Prakeot), you could get route 60 bus nearby.
But for other purpose, this hotel may be in inconvenient location.

The staff are reasonably friendly, not all of them speak fluent English however.
But I found the concierge personnel quite helpful as he taught me which bus(es) to get to where, and even he wrote me destination in Thai on memo (this was very useful to be honest, as you expect many Thai do not understand English).

The room I stayed was quite decent, but I really wished if I had a bath tab in my room.
Air condition worked too well, and it was quite difficult to control as the room gets too cold (although I put the lowest wind level and highest temperature, I often woke up in the middle of nights had to switch it off).

I loved the silence in night.
The hotel itself was located in one of the clouded corner of the back street, but I heard no noises at all during my sleeps (except some young Chinese group tourists being a party-a-like in the same level in the hotel).

To conclude, if you are not seeking for too luxurious hotel, but yet do not want to stay in Back-packers hotel, The Ecotel should fulfill your needs with its reasonable price.

Nice Hotel and good value for money

The location was pretty good, walk a few metres to lots of shops and restaurants etc.
The room was very clean apart from mould in the shower, but I have that at home too, so no bother really. Bed was comfy, TV good, there was a lot of space to put your stuff away. Overall, I thought this was a good hotel, the breakfast was rather strange however, they did have things like muesli and toast (for us westeners) but most of it was stri-fries and rice and chicken, something I would eat for lunch or dinner :)

Fantastic area to shop

This is my second stay at this hotel,four weeks this time!Great value for money and close to everything including Pratunam Markets.More like a five star than a three star.Most staff speak a degree of English! Good hotel within walking distance of shopping

What you would expect from a 3star hotel...nice clean comfortable rooms with good shower facilities and safe in room. They provided slippers but then took them away on the second day and never replaced.

The surrounding area looks a bit dodgy but we ate there and went to several internet cafes there and soon realised it was fairly safe.

We never did walk to any of the shopping centres from the hotel since we are lazy and taxis are so cheap! But we did talk to the staff and a few hotel stayers who said the walk was only about 10mins and easy to get to. They do provide you a map to get to the major shopping centres such as central world and siam paragon etc.

Overall, a comfortable stay and would recommend for those on a budget...you do get more for your money here.

Very clean no frills hotel. Nice basic breakfast, local and western food choices and very reasonably priced.
Cafe D'Elite a good selection of international (French, German, Italian) dishes. Good childrens selection, and very good range of specialty coffees. Tom Yam Thai (Thai resturant), is a dining experience. Try set menu B ( five main dishes plus desert) for only THB 350 plus tax.
Quiet neighbourhood only a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the Pratunam (bargain wholesale) shopping area. A three minute taxi ride to the sky train station that connects with the airport.
Deserves a better rating than it has.

Ecotel in Bangkok

-Not as nice as the pictures are on the site. I found this goes for EVERY place there. Still nice though.
- Right near the BTS railway that comes from the airport. Not in a tourist zone and quiet neighborhood with really good food carts and 7-11 around the corner.
-Not really near any of the tourist attractions in Bangkok like national museum, grand palace, chao phraya river. About a 200 baht tuk tuk/taxi ride away.
- Room has an actual shower seperate from toilet and sink which I found is not the norm at other hotels.
-Bed is very comfortable unlike other hotels.
-Overall great value for the money if you don't mind getting transportation to different areas of Bangkok... including night life.
- there are a hundred massage places down the road so if that is your trips goal then you found your spot.

Good hotel in good location

Very nice, friendly, secure hotel in good location, opposite the (huge) Ramada Bangkok. Despite the bargain price felt and looked quite upmarket. Very close - maybe 1 km - to MRT airport line (Rajprarop station), though you might get lost on the way the first time, so better flag down a cab. Also considerable walking distance (30min at least) away from next city line MRT station (Chit Lom). Room was spacious and spotless. Great bathroom with strong and hot shower. Good breakfast buffet, offering the full range of typical continental and Asian dishes. Internet didnt work the whole weekend I was there, though the cafe next door also offered free Wifi and their signal was just strong enough to log in from the lobby. Very good hotel when you have been to BKK before and know your way around a bit. Would definitely stay there again.

Location about 10mins walk to Pratunam shopping area, but 30 mins walk to BTS chidlom station. Friendly and helpful hotel staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Very clean rooms. Got very good rate from hotel.com - phone Booking was a breeze.

It was a lovely stay in Ecotel Bangkok

I realy like this hotel. Staff were so friendly, helpful and respectful. Room is well organized and comfortable.
Location is very great, you can simply walk to all neighbouring shopping centers which are incredible in number and quality. I like them all.
I would advice hotel administration to improve the following points thankfully:
1- Make 2 keys available for the guests if they are 2 in one room.
2- Improve the variation of breakfast meal, should it include some cheese, honey, yogurt, lipton tea.
3- Make sure that wifi internet is working well, i couldn't understand its system at all. I sometimes find ecotel 08 network which again disappears.

We went as two couples. Hotel receptionists is friendly. Always greet us with a smile. They just give us our keys and we went up ourselves, no porter was there to help but is allright, saved the tips haha. Room is clean although small ( but with that price no complaints =) ). We stayed at 4th floor, both our rooms have issue with the hot shower as it seems to be not in control.. sometimes hot then halfway cold. Hair dryer was provided, room have excellent WIFI connection. The surrounding area is kind of old/shady but is still safe to walk at night, there's a 24hours convenient stall nearby walking distance. If you walk abit further down the road you will find good cheap Thai Traditional massage parlor. We always walk to the wholesale market and Platinum Mall for shopping 10-15 minutes walk. Checkout was fast, because we ended up buying alot stuff, we have alot baggages, the receptionist suggested and called us a \"larger\" cab so we dont have to go in two cabs. The price was reasonable too. Overall we are satisfied with our stay and we wished we know the sweetest receptionist lady's name (curly hair round face) to compliment her, she went outside to get the cab for us too and always with a smile.

i arrived at ecotel on the 6th may and i was offered a free upgrade to a mini suite room due to the superior rooms were fully booked. the group of staffs were very friendly and nice to us esp the bell-man ( looks older than a bellboy) he went an extra mile to explain everything to us, be it our hotel room or the surrounding areas outside the hotel. i was glad that i didnt book the room with breakfast included as there were alot of street hawkers beside the hotel and they were really affordable and delicious. its on the same side where the convenience shop is.

our hotel room was very clean and neat, came along with 4 complimentary bottled water everyday. you have to get the free wifi internet password from the lobby staff. wifi was good as it has very strong signals. just take note of the magnetic key tag when you slot into the key port. we kept getting blackouts on our first night and it totally freaked my friend out. later then i realised that the port wasnt able to detect the magnet as it was slightly misplaced.

location of the hotel even though its slightly out of the way from the main shopping malls, but its not very expensive if u travel by taxi shared among your friends. be careful of the taxi drivers who approaches u outside the hotel, they usually quote much higher prices. there are quite alot of taxis that drives in along the street hawkers' street, ask them if they can use meter first then state location that you want to head to. should be able to get into a taxi within 5mins.

i totally enjoyed my stay at Ecotel. its value for money and i received very good service from them. thanks Hotels.com for having them as part of your hotel group.

The hotel is close to the night market as well as shopping. The beds were hard and not very comfortable, the shower leaked water on the floor. The breakfast was a good combination of Thai and regular foods and was very tasty. They ran out of certain foods every morning. The service was great, tour guide was excellent. You pay for what you get

Ecotel Bangkok - Clean and friendly staff

this is the first time im choosing ecotel bangkok hotel and im pretty satisfied with the overall experience there. The hotel room is very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful when we needed help.
However, the hotel location isn't very pleasant but is compensated by the fact that it is within walking distance from Pratunum and other shopping areas. The breakfast can be improve too, limited variety and amount.
Overall, it's value for money for a 3-star hotel.

Great hotel for cheap---way better than a hotel we stayed at a couple weeks earlier in Bangkok for twice the price! Nice staff, clean rooms--late check out possible but for a hefty fee (about 1/2 the price as a 2nd night in the room).

Neighborhood is very local and crazy busy, but I like that kind of thing--after all, it IS Bangkok. Lots of shopping and street vendors--not close enough to s skytrain station though--be wary of shady taxi drivers--get away from the hotel before you hire one--and insist on them using their meter--very dishonest and all about taking advantage of the traveller.

Stay 3 nights at ECOTEL in BKK

Overall the hotel is cheap. In terms of the amount i paid and the service, it's not bad. The hotel is new, clean and quiet.

However, i notice that there is no toothbrush and toothpaste provided by the hotel so remember to bring your own if you dun want to buy outside. And the toilet was sometimes not working. Goodthing is when i called, they sent someone to fix it immediately.

In addition, the bedsheet was not change for 3 nights during my stay. It should have been changed everyday.
Anyway, my bf like it so i will recommend it to my friends.
