The restroom conditions were unacceptable and did not meet basic standards of cleanliness or maintenance. Additionally, the water park was significantly overcrowded, which detracted from the overall experience. Given the limited meal options, subpar service, and poor bathroom conditions, the pricing is not justified.
Definitely looking for other options for our next trip.

We have stayed here a few times and were sad to see it’s original rustic style changed to a modernized look. The rustic style was one of the reasons we enjoyed staying there. We came for spring break and some of the amenities were not guest or weather prepared. The game room had all out of order signs but only two or three games at most working. The outdoor lounge area only had two heaters set up and there were pipe leaks dripping onto the giant checkers play area making it a hazardous mess. Our room, hallways and lobby area were pretty clean. The staff overall was great and Daniel from the poolside waitstaff was awesome and friendly!

Enjoyed that it was secluded and safe environment for my kids to get some independence. The staff was friendly. My kids thoroughly enjoyed going down and getting their own breakfast on Saturday - the staff was helpful for them to learn how to charge the room too. Would come back in a heartbeat. Maybe next year!

The staff were all exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was the pool area. The adults only pool area hot tub had dead bugs floating in it and so many leaves in the main pool. I would think charging what you charge you would have a full time maintenance/ groundskeeper skimming the pool and hot tubs a couple times a day.

Weekend 2 night stay. The registration was wonderful. The restaurants and bars super nice. The resort itself is gorgeous and beautifully decorated for Christmas !! However the rooms are ready for a Refresh remodel !!!The room smelled musty. Probably the fact that they still have carpets in the room. Bathrooms ready for updates as well. Asked for sheets to be changed because they smelled musty and they did not. Mattress also need updating. Bathroom amenities were wonderful.

This was our 1st time staying here at the JW Marriott. I wanted to bring my children to have some fun in the pool and waterslides. The front office staff was wonderful and ee enjoyed our room. However, on 09/06/2025 after spending time in the pool we all were hungry and the outside food station was closed so, they advised us to go to High Velocity as the food was good and the kids would enjoy it. We didn't want to dine in because we were still enjoying the pool so we were sent to the bar to order. Once we get there we sit there

We met the nicest manager named Jacob and if I could have 10 employees just like him, I would have an amazing company! This was our first time at this hotel and even though I'm pretty sure there were 3000 people on site, the resort still felt spacious. One bit of constructive criticism is...invest in more double floats. The resort caters to young children and families who needed to ride together per the height rules but there was a shortage of doubles. We saw many families frustrated and we even searched for over 30 minutes several times just to locate a float. So....buy more doubles JW. One more note about Jacob. He became aware that my grandson had a sensory issue and the only reserved chairs were in the sandy area. He gratiously moved us to the pool area and saved our vacation. We had been on the waitlist for 3 weeks and Jacob was our hero! Tip for newbies...in the summer the walkways in the sun are about 1000 degrees. Dont let your babies walk alone or their feet may get burned. Apparently the pizza is a hot commodity! We never got any because the line was longer than the waterslides but next time it's on our list! See you next year JDub! Love, Barry & Michelle Barnette

The hotel looked very nice, but we wouldn’t stay here again. The person who checked us in did a poor job at communicating to us how all the charge and services worked so it was very confusing for us. Also, we noticed that if you visit the hotel during non peak days or off season, you don’t get the same treatment. It’s like you get special treatment and perks if you’re there during the weekend/on season, but if you’re there on weekdays or off season, you don’t get all those same perks. We gave 3 stars because of the way the hotel looked and because the bar tender we met was very nice. Other than that, I would give 2 stars on the experience, the dining, etc.

The hotel experience was phenomenal. This resort will be our go to for family fun. The activities the hotel had made it even more remarkable as our kids enjoyed all the activities they attended. The restaurant selection was also extraordinary and made the stay eveb better because we didn't have to leave. They also have a store and a Starbucks on site.

Everything was amazing! The food was great and the people were amazing. Kudos to the4 Pizza guys making pizza. They were slammed Saturday. They were so calm and polite to each other getting all the orders out! They were really fast!

The idea of the place is wonderful. I took my 3 granddaughters, 5, 3, and 1 here on a mini vacation. The good: the children’s pool and slides were wonderful for all 3. We spent a whole day there. There was plenty of seating around all the pools. There were several options for food including 3 eateries, and room service - all priced as expected. The room was comfortable and accessible. Room service and housekeeping staff were pleasant and kind. The staff on checkout were great!

The not so good - the two different women I dealt with at check in were flat out rude and have no business being in customer facing jobs. The self parking just sucks. Parking in sections 2 and 3 force you to walk up and down hill - with a family with wagons and strollers this not NOT convenient, not to mention that getting on the sidewalk while crossing the street was a challenge as there was no ramp access - meaning I had to literally lift the wagon with kids in it up onto the sidewalk while headed uphill - fun times. The family pool was constantly dirty. While I understand trees and such, have someone skim the pool.

While we had a pleasant time, there is definitely room for improvement especially given the cost.

I don't like was, the Hotel was not responsibility, the item I forgot , which I leaf the Hotel 10.30 am and I get home 2.30 pm , I called to said I forgot an blue shirt ( Blue shirt was there) and one hour later , I called back again and I said I forgot an Polo White shirt , and told me is nothing there ,(only was there the blue shirt short sleeve) I know 100 % I leaf there in the Closet . and for me was weird because the room was clean yet I understand is my responsibility, is my foul, for not make sure, I have all my Items .
But overall was a great place , me and my son we got an wonderful time,, for sure we come back again.

We enjoyed delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, from the brick oven pizza to the incredible omelet station at Cibolo Moon. No matter the time or how busy the hotel was, we never waited longer than 15 minutes for a table and every single staff member we interacted with was personable, professional, and seemed genuinely happy we were there.

Our room was comfortable and incredibly clean. Whether we spent time relaxing in the room or out on the beautiful grounds, we were never disappointed. In fact, what luck - we visited during their Backyard BBQ, when several inflatable toys spread out on the lawn for the kids, great live music artists played toe-tappers that got everyone singing along, and served delicious BBQ as yet another dining option at a hotel swimming in them.

Speaking of swimming, those cabanas are worth the price and emotional spiraling. We took our time getting out to the pool on Saturday and learned our lesson, miraculously finding a single pool chair for our family of 4’s things. Not that we spent any real time at the chair… the lazy river held our attention for several hours, with a little help from the delicious Pina coladas served river-side.

Funnily enough, we live 15 minutes away from the hotel and came for a little family staycation, but this was the best experience we’ve had in a plethora of travels. We’ll keep an eye out for the calendar and be back for some incredible lemon scones & fun! Thank you, JW Marriot Hill Country and staff!!

For the price, we expected a luxurious experience and our stay really missed the mark. It was so terribly loud everywhere in the hotel. Kids running up and down halls constantly. We couldn’t find a vending machine that worked. There was only one sit down breakfast restaurant so the wait in the morning wasn’t worth it. I think this hotel is a good option for families but wouldn’t recommend if you don’t have kids or want a restful weekend.

We went on a very busy day. However, there was absolutely no parking. We were forced to use valet. Upon arrival we checked our bags so we could use the pool. When we got our room, the bellhop brought up our bags and we immediately noticed that a cell phone was missing from our bags. We called security, we filed a report online for their suggestion, we also called the bell service, and spoke with the front desk. Since I felt like there was nothing further I could do from my room I went down myself. We just arrived and I was trekking all over the hotel. I finally went downstairs and talked to the valet, just in case the phone fell out in the car, and as I was talking to the bell service, one of the bellhops that brought us the luggage remembered that he heard something fall in the closet. He said it sounded like a cell phone! So he and another gentleman went to go look in the closet for the cell phone. They came back and said they couldn’t find it. I went to the front desk to discuss it with them and they had the phone there. The place was incredibly expensive, that’s to be expected. However, paying $11 for a tiny dipping dots cup. That was also eight dollars from a vending machine inside seemed astronomical. Furthermore, we felt the lazy river could be much cleaner. At the end of the evening, I was surprised that they weren’t using nets to collect the incredible amount of leaves and debris that were floating in the lazy river both Friday and Saturday when we used it.

The food is pricy but worth it. The pizza is a must to get. Bring your own pillow. Be prepared for noise and kids everywhere. Very family friendly hotel but still some good areas for adults to mingle. The water slides/pool areas are very nice and clean. All of the staff is super friendly. Go early if you don’t want to fight over a tube for rides.

The resort itself was very nice — clean, well-maintained, and overall a good experience. However, the valet parking service was a major disappointment and really affected the overall impression of my stay.

It took nearly an hour just to get my vehicle back. When the valet finally brought it around, I watched in disbelief as he drove directly toward one of the black rubber valet poles that are supposed to help guide traffic. Instead of stopping or carefully avoiding it, he rolled down his window and started yelling for help to move it. Despite clearly seeing it was about to rub against my vehicle, no one assisted — everyone seemed too busy — and he continued to drive forward anyway.

I was watching from a distance, trying to get his attention to stop, but he just went straight through, scraping the side of my truck and running over the base with both the front and back tires. Fortunately, my truck is white, so the rubber didn’t leave visible scratches. But if it had been a black vehicle, it could’ve caused noticeable damage.

This level of carelessness is unacceptable, especially after paying a $90 valet fee. The resort deserves credit for its quality, but the valet experience needs serious improvement.

Crying baby ruined our night

In for a quick anniversary weekend. Spent 2 nights listening to a crying baby. We booked a king suite with balcony thinking it would be away from families. It was horrible. They charge for self parking. Shade will cost you $250+. Too many people can’t find a place to sit. Food over priced Maybe better for families but not good for a couple getaway.

My family and I recently stayed at your property to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 4:30 PM and were assisted by Leticia at the front desk. Unfortunately, we were informed that our room was not yet ready. When we inquired about an estimated time for check-in, Leticia was unable to provide one. Instead, she stated that if we paid an additional $100 per night, she could contact housekeeping to prioritize our room.

I expressed that I was not willing to pay extra and requested the same level of urgency regardless. Despite following up multiple times, we waited nearly two hours before receiving a room. During this time, we were left without updates or assistance, which was both frustrating and disappointing—especially during a special occasion.

It wasn’t until a staff member named Curtis approached us and inquired if we needed help that we finally received prompt assistance. Curtis immediately apologized and found a room for us right away, for which we are very grateful.

We have previously stayed at various resorts including Disney Resort, Orlando Resort, Great Wolf Lodge, and Kalahari, and have never encountered service of this nature during check-in. While the remainder of our stay was enjoyable and the accommodations were lovely, the check-in experience significantly impacted our first impression and anniversary celebration.

The 2 previous times we visited we were not charged for parking. This time, $29 per day. My fault, I should have read the fine print. Some of the remote areas around water park seemed like they werent being kept up as well.

It was our first time at the property and my family absolutely LOVED the experience. We had a lot of friends recommend that we summer vacation with JW Marriott HC as opposed to flying to a summer vacation. We were very impressed and our kids had a blast. Activities were great, staff was incredible, convenience factor was awesome, I spoke with Daisy a manager there (I didn't request a manager, I just got lucky that she picked up the phone) and was super sweet and accommodated us incredibly well.

The one thing that was a bit surprising was the price of food and beverages. I completely understand that it is a JW Marriott with a partnership, but it was a bit of a surprise to us (Full transparency).

BUT we loved our stay, and we will definitely be coming back!

Loved everything about the property! We stayed one night between other Hill Country stops and it felt like were there longer than one night. Great crowd, lots of activities for kids and we still managed to have some time to relax by the pool. Plenty of chairs on weekdays, can’t say how crowded it is on weekends. Loved the layout of the hotel and the accessibility to amenities being close to the room. The water slides, pool and lazy river were top tier for a hotel. Pricey food and drinks but worth the cost for the atmosphere. If we stayed longer, we would probably eat some meals in our room. Even at dinner time most people were dressed casual and enjoying drinks and games. I appreciated the option to dress up for dinner or be laid back after a long week of summer activities.
