Hotel service was great and the amenities were great too. This was the first hotel in the area with free cans of beer, pops, water and chips.

One downside of the hotel was that it was not very soundproof, that I could hear my neighboring rooms' guests taking showers, flushing, talking on the phone and slamming their doors quite well, which I didn't expect from 4-star hotels.

Stay away during the Summer time!

For a four-star hotel, i had at least expected their curtains to be blackout curtains to completely block the light out. Turns out that it was a regular curtain. I turned the AC on, set rhe thermostat at 65 F at 9 pm, hoping the room would get cool and crisp faster. At 2:30 AM, the room temperature was 82 F, 7 Am 76 F. Their comforter may be comfortable and cozy during the winter season, but completely out of line for that temperature. At 8;30, it went down to 74 F. I wish i had slept on their bathroom which had a cool stone floor. I usually set my home temperature at 70 F because Korean summer is quite got and stuffy. Even my dogs couldn't have slept at that temperature. Completely unacceptable. I have stayed at Samjung hotel for several occasions in the past but never in summer. I would never choose Samjung during the summer season.

The room was so extremely hot (28 degrees celcius!) It was impossible to sleep at all. There was nothing that the staff were able or willing to do about it. There was no AC in the room, only hearingt made it inpossible to sleep at all.

The Hotel Samjung was located in a fantastic area. Near the subway for easy access but already in a great shopping area. I was surprised to find on arrival that I could not use the spa facility as its mens only. This was not mentioned in the advert. I also had to ask the front desk three times for a room service menu and I finally received one after 5 nights. The cleaners, doorman, concierge and waiting staff were excellent.

location is not that bad but still u need to walk quite long.
roughly 10~15mins from sinnonhyeon station and recommend you to take a taxi if you are coming from express terminal.
room was clean and cozy, staff was kind.

12/31에 예약했는데, 위층에서 행사한다는 사전고지 하나 없이 들어가서 10시까지 아저씨들 노래듣느라 정말 개고생했네요. 홀에서는 곧 끝나니 기다려주세요 이러는데 그럼 기다려야죠 가서 깽판이라도 칠까요? 체크아웃시간대에는 아직 시간도 안됐는데 문열고 들어와서 참 반가웠네요. 덕분에 연말 연초 기분좋게 끝내고 시작했습니다.

samjung needs some upgrade!

This time (i stayed there around 20 times before over the past 10 years) i got a room with a carpet that is in dire need of replacement. bathroom cleanliness has also been better in previous stays. the service in the breakfast room (in the evening a western style restaurant) is mediocre at best. staff does not speak English and is generally less than helpful. however, location is good and room in general is quite acceptable. good bed.

The toilet was smell like sewer so it was very unpleasant every time using it. The bed was so hard like a rock and uncomfortable to sleep. I had to make a call to the US. Before used the phone, I called the front desk to ask the international call rate. The front desk person gave me a quote the rate will be under $1. I used the phone about 10 mins and my bill was $30!!!! I was so upset with the front desk person who provided a wrong information. I always stay at Samjung hotel when I visit Korea, but after my awful experience, no longer I want to stay here.

Too expensive and commercial tricks

Breakfast 1 includes breakfast buffet for only one member. It charges 22000 KRW for each other members. And there are galbi set(200000 KRW) commercials everywhere. Room bar and refrigerator is filled by expensive stuffs. It is recommended to visit convenience store across the road.

Breakfast buffet was terrible as it is not fresh. The color of salmon was changed darken and most of the food were dried.

A hotel with excellent location

It is so convenient as an airport bus (KAL Limousine) directly takes you to the hotel, which is at Gangnam’s prominent location.
It is only 3 minuets walk to the nearest underground station, so that, the hotel is both suitable for business and city tour.
Basically, this hotel is local distinguished classic brand, but due to increasing international brand hotels, price is very, very reasonable against its quality.

Upon arrival, the room was clean and good enough. However, we found that the air condition wasn't working. We thought we'd give it some time to cool down the room, but that didn't work. The next morning, I called the front desk to see if they could do something. They said that they could send us a fan. Seriously? The whole day went by and it was hot in the room. The next day, I couldn't take it anymore, so I went up to the front desk and they said that they were going to turn on the switch. Why wasn't this done when I first asked? The front desk manager said that it was because some customers complained that it was too cold. But I remembered that each guest has the option to turn off any/all air conditioning in their room, so that wasn't a valid excuse. He just sat there looking dumb. Then, the next day, the whole room and bathroom started smelling like cigarettes for 2 days straight. I asked the front desk for some kind of compensation or to help us out with anything, but he refused. When I asked for his manager's contact information, he refused to give it to me. I will never return to this hotel. Do NOT stay here. There's a reason why this hotel has an average rating of 3.6/5 stars.

Front desk check in staff was unfriendly and unwilling to help in any situation. Rooms were dirty. I've taken pictures of dirty controls, dust everywhere, and general dirty premises. Beds were extremely uncomfortable unnecessarily hard. The only staff here that was remotely service oriented would be the housekeeping ladies. Totally not hospitable service you come to expect from Korean service industry.

Decent Hotel in and around downtown Gangnam area.

Check in was a breeze but at 3pm. The room was small but adequate..the beds were comfortable with all basic facilities including coffee n Tea. The location is the plus point and is walking to distance to shopping centers and restaurants and bars. There was a nice Korean restaurant across the back entrance... The hotel stay was worth the price I paid.. I would diffinetely recommend and would stay there again...

I couldn't sleep at all so went down to the front desk but they didn't do much about it. I asked one night complementary for further stay but all they said were they need to go through GENERAL MANAGER when I'm checking out at 7'o'clock in the morning! Very upset!!!

Week in Gangnam

Very good location, known by all taxis I've occupied. Though visibly an older establishment with wear and tear, it is still very clean and presentable. Walking distance from public transport and restaurants, competitive rates, and overall an excellent experience.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff who are english proficient in most areas of the hotel. Concierge even came out into the street to inform me that I was waiting at the wrong location for the airport bus after checkout.

On 2 occasions hotel amenities were not replaced but easily rectified with a phone call to reception. Hotel basics not including toothbrush, tooth paste, or shaver, which can be purchased separately.

Word of advice, turn on your aircon or heating depending on preference and leave a gap in the window as smoking and non smoking rooms seems to share the same ventilation system.

Will definitely consider this hotel again for further stays if opportunity allows as it is quite convenient with regards to exploring Gangnam.

The understanding of English language is a plus. In addition, the hotel staffs were helpful and it was reasonably clean. The cafes and Gangnam train station could be reached within 10 - 15 minutes.

Based on the above, the price was reasonable.

The disappointing part was that the gym in the hotel is meant for men ONLY!

A nice traditional hotel in Gangnam

The hotel staff was nice and accommodating. The ondol suite room was very nice. Double rooms were okay. The hotel is pretty old but still clean and pleasant. The men's sauna at the basement is really good. The buffet is okay, but pretty expensive

Very nice and clean hotel close to gangnam.They should consider changing the lock system as they can only give one key per booking. So if you are two and need to go to separate destinations during the day you will need to leave the key at the reception

I was visiting my daughter in Seoul and had been staying in another hotel just across the street. When I decided to extend my trip, my original hotel was booked. So I moved to the Samjung. The service was great from the very start. The doorman ran out and grabbed my suitcases from me, waited for me to check in and then carried them to my room. I was greeted by at least 2 staff members each time I entered the hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was great. It was about a 7 minute walk to the subway. There is a grocery store just down the street. I would definitely stay there again.

This was as expected for the price range. It's a bit from the nearest subway station, but no problem if the weather is good. Didn't try the hotel food. If I were the hotel manager, I'd hire a few less uniformed \"lobby workers\" and maybe one more receptionist.

Close to Kang Nam shopping and eating...

It was very comfotable. Actually I haved stayed in this hotel many years ago. They have since renovated the hotel and it looks and feels more modern and comfortable. The price is also very reasonable for the hotel and the location. I woudn't hesitate to re book again.Thank u.

Almost all hotels were booked

Almost all hotels were booked which was why we ended up here. Hotel is in nice location, but far from Seoul. Staff were courteous. Room maintenance was inconsistent, amenities not regularly replaced, e.g., no shower cap, at one time (of our 6-night stay) the two pillows were on the floor, resting on a standing lamp. Front desk not familiar with local tours or shows. Otherwise, overall, an acceptable hotel to stay in, basic standard amenities with only 3 English TV channels.
