We were so spoiled as guests and consequently had very high expectations for the following stays during our trip (that those fell short). Very friendly and helpfull staff. Spacious room.
Not very centrally located, but there were some cafes/ restaurants and convenient stores on walking distance.
We arrived very early in the morning and had to pay for an extra night in order to get the room before check in time (price was higher than when booked thru Expedia)

We loved our stay at Hotel ChinzansoI. This is a beautiful property set in stunning gardens which is a true luxury in Tokyo. From check in to check out the hotel staff were welcoming and eager to accommodate us. Our rooms were large and beautiful with wonderful amenities and a fantastic garden view. We enjoyed busy days in different areas of Tokyo and enjoyed being in a tranquil and peaceful environment at the end of the day. We did not have a car, but found it easy to reach any area of Tokyo with either public transportation or taxi. We would highly recommend this property.

This hotel was absolutely dreamy! From the premises to the staff, everything was amazing. The hotel's garden is one of the most prettiest we've ever seen. We went during firefly season and that was such an unreal scene. The room was gorgeous and they serviced our room twice a day which made it so nice to arrive to after a busy long day of walking. We definitely look forward to staying here again. I can't say enough great things about this hotel. If you are looking to stay in an upscale hotel with all the amenities and away from all the busy touristy spots, this is the place to stay in!

Our stay at the Hotel Chinzanso was amazing. This beautiful hotel offers large, well-appointed rooms in a quiet part of Tokyo, and access to an incredible set of gardens that feel like a resort. It was a wonderful place to come \"home\" to at the end of the day and the onsite restaurants were excellent. Tokyo was the last stop on our trip and could not have been happier with this choice. Luxury indeed.

An absolutely GORGEOUS hotel! One of the best I’ve stayed in. The service and staff were impeccable! From the luxurious garden, the onsen and pool, the gym, the amazing breakfast.. just WOW! I didn’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of the city when I chose this hotel. It’s about a 10 min walk to the local subway and 7-11(must try the egg salad sandwich). For me, the hotel was perfectly located. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Chinzanso 🙌

Overall it was nice, clean, staff was friendly. It is a bit pricey, not enough English speaking staff, maybe 1 or 2 that understood English. I found the location too far from many places. TV didn’t have any English options, wifi in room was weak. I found restaurant service extremely slow in the morning.

Overall it is a nice hotel just a few things that need fixing

Our family experience at this hotel was amazing travelling from Canada. We had taken cruise in Asia and it ended in Tokyo. We were checking in at 3 o’clock, but the cruise landed at at 7 AM and our daughter wasn’t feeling well. Our intention was to just drop our bags at the hotel, have them hold them and check in later, but when I called and asked if there’s any opportunity to have a room right away, they gladly assisted and we had a room within 45 minutes. I was so grateful!
All of the staff we interacted with was extremely professional, polite, and accommodating. The room was perfect. The amenities were wonderful and I really can’t say enough about the grounds and the beautiful gardens. I highly recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone!

I can't begin to say enough good things about this hotel. From pre-trip and helping me arrange airport pickup to my arrival at the airport to my stay, I was treated with the ultimate white-glove service where everyone was kind, incredibly helpful and and so attentive, I never want to stay anywhere else in Tokyo again. The staff are incredibly helpful and speak English; eager to help when you need a taxi and incredibly accommodating, making your experience feel catered and truly tailored to you. With the location not being super close to a train station, it was amazing having a taxi outside ready everyday that could take us to the train or wherever else we needed to go. The hotel itself is a bus stop, as well. The grounds are impeccable and the scent of camellia throughout the property is lovely. The design is grand with history throughout on display and ornate details that make you feel you're truly somewhere special. We dined at one of the restaurants and not only was the same amazing service present, I had the best onion gratin soup I've ever tasted. The cloud mist show is beautiful and runs often. Really amazing property and people! We already booked a return stay in December, we loved it so much!

This is an absolutely Beautiful Hotel. The service is outstanding, the amenities are exceptional. We enjoyed the Spa very much, only wish we had more time. The breakfast was wonderful. The rooms, as well as the entire property is kept extremely clean. We walked everyday & discovered many different ways to explore Tokyo. There are Taxis lined up at the Hotel, bus stops right across the street and metro stations within walking distance. The Gardens are so very well maintained and it is a must see during daylight as well as at night. So grateful we discovered the Hotel Chinzanso, we will definitely stay again when we return.

Nice location and hotel. Great lobby decor. Beautiful garden - do not miss the garden. It is a must view. Go at night as well as during the day to enjoy the different views. So pretty. The lady that checked us in was very proud of it and mentioned several times we should go. It did not disappoint. As it was the last leg of our Japan trip, we splurged and got a big room so we can spread our 10 suitcase out to repack for trip home. Room is very nice and clean. Beautiful and spacious bathroom. Great amenities. Free bottled water for each of us. Staff speaks English well and were very nice and helpful. Area is safe. We walked around at night and felt safe. Def recommend. Would stay here again when we return to Tokyo.

The hotel garden is beautiful; it was a very pleasant start to our overall experience in Japan. Walking in the morning through this garden is a great way to start the day, as it was very quiet with few people.

Hotel look more like an \"old\" luxury resort, Victorian / regal style decoration (you can tell it has been here a while) but remains in good condition. Room (and bathroom) were far more spacious than the other hotels we stayed in Japan.

Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had in Japan. The Pancakes were phenomenal.

This hotel made our trip amazing even after being delayed a day! They were more than willing to assist and could easily be reached for communication about our new arrival. They even made an adjustment to our stay to account for the missed day (which we could not utilize as our returning flight was unable to be changed). Staff was extremely helpful and even when my Japanese was poor they would still communicate in English to ensure my understanding. I will gladly go back to this establishment and intend to do so on our next trip!

We absolutely loved this property. A true 5-star experience across the board, from the exceptional dining to the comfort and quality of the rooms. The views from our room were incredible, and the expansive garden quickly became our favorite place to unwind. The spa was a hidden gem and well worth visiting. The staff were outstanding throughout. Easily one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world.

Extremely elegant and beautiful hotel. Room size is huge and such a rarity for Tokyo. The garden is a dream. Not too many public transportation options but is walkable to a couple metro stations and there are free shuttle buses to and from Ikebukuro station which could be handy. Staff are super helpful.

My friend and I spent an entire week at the Hotel Chinsanzo in a beautiful suite. It was the absolute perfect getaway from the busy city; yet not too far for commuting. The hotel was beautifuly maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the beautiful garden area and the club lounge which had wondeful food and beverages. We will definitely recommend the hotel to friends traveling to Tokyo.

From the moment we entered the hotel it was a wonderful experience. The staff was amazing, the hotel is beautiful, and the food was great.
The shower, was nice except my daughter wants me to find that shower head to install at home now. Water pressure was spot on. Products were what you would expect from a hotel like this and everything was clean.
The bed was luxurious and a dream to sleep in. I do not have enough words to say how much I enjoyed staying here.

The property and the rooms were lovely. Excellent linens, L'Occitane bath amenities, perfectly clean. Very spacious by Tokyo standards, everything perfect. The garden behind the hotel is gorgeous. We struggled a bit with the western breakfast, it was expensive for what it was, but there are no other options in walking distance for breakfast. The bar experience was also tricky, it was full sometimes and we couldn't get in - but when we did the offerings were very nice. For a late afternoon drink we had better luck at the tea salon, they had beer/wine/champagne. The location is way out of the core of the city - we found that once we figured out how to use the city bus we were easily able to get to the subway stops without a long walk. Cabs were always plentiful. Overall, it's a gorgeous property with excellent service, a little oasis in Tokyo.

After a long day of sightseeing in Tokyo, the hotel served as a wonderful retreat — the gardens at night were a truly unique and peaceful highlight. We had the option of an American style breakfast or a Japanese breakfast, and we went with the Japanese option and it was great. If you’re a picky eater, it might not be for you, but we really enjoyed it and hope they keep it authentic just the way it is. The service was excellent and truly went above expectations.

This is a gorgeous and elegant hotel with courteous staff and beautiful Onsen baths. We arrived in the evening and enjoyed the magical gardens with lights and mist.

There are numerous restaurants on the grounds but none serve a quick simple dinner. They are all multiple course Kaiseke style and expensive (16000-20000 yen = around $100 per person). Room service is also expensive. Recommend to book the meal plan rather than playing it by ear like we did. If no meal plan, then the best option for a reasonable price dinner is room service Ramen served after 9.30pm - the server who brought it laid it out like a ceremony - delicious and a fun experience.

The hotel is not so central but the 20 min JR train ride plus 10m walk is worth it if you value a quiet local neighborhood vibe.

Fantastic hotel. We loved the size of the rooms. If you can, we recommend a garden view room. They provide absolutely beautiful views of the gardens on property. Located in a quieter part of the city, and in a very nice and quiet neighborhood, but with convenient subway access within a 10 min walk, why not slow down and enjoy some luxury accommodations without all the chaos and rush of other areas? All of that is a short train away if you feel the need, but it was nice to return to this oasis at the end of a busy day of sightseeing - we always felt relaxed once we returned to our hotel. They have a very helpful and attentive staff, who always made us feel welcome. And of course, the gardens on property were simply magnificent. Immediately behind the hotel is a riverwalk park, with another public park a few hundred meters upriver. Both are worth spending some time exploring while enjoying the view.

We stayed in 4 different hotels hotels during our 2-week visit to Japan. They were all very nice. We actually spent a total of 5 nights at Hotel Chinzanso (we stayed 3 nights at the beginning of our trip, and 2 nights before departing Japan). Without a doubt, the Hotel Chinzanso was by far our favorite hotel while in Japan.

We booked all of our hotels through Hotels.com, and had no issues with any of the bookings; they were all ready for our arrival.

This hotel is luxurious and so peaceful. The garden is a destination in and of itself. It has history and spirituality and a great sense of calm. The pagoda is worth a visit and the nightly cloud show is beautiful to watch.
Everything is attended to in this hotel and we appreciated the level of service we received.
Our only issue was that the spa and the restaurants were booked out - so we advise that guests make reservations in advance.

I do not have a single, possible complaint regarding Chinzanso hotel. The room was immaculate, the view was incredible, and the staff were always ready to help. My wife and I were made to feel like royalty. Regarding the location, the hotel is out of the way of the more touristy areas, allowing for peace and quiet. Yet, despite this, you are only a short walk away from the cherry blossoms along Kanda river, which are absolutely breathtaking. I would advise travelers to put some money aside for a taxi from Narita airport, as the hill climb to the hotel must be made from any metro station and is very difficult with luggage. Once settled, I recommend Edogawabashi station over Waseda for getting around the city.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Tokyo. The rooms are very spacious, luxurious, and impeccably clean. The on-site restaurant is amazing — while breakfast is served as a buffet on weekends, the weekday set menus are equally stunning.

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station with 20 min walk. The garden is absolutely beautiful, and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.

The location is great for exploring — about 20–30 minutes by taxi from major attractions. The gym and pool facilities are also excellent, making this hotel a fantastic choice for both relaxation and convenience

The most important part of this review is that we saw a few areas of suspected mold. We didn't do a mold test so can't be sure, but both in the bathroom in our room and the vent above the coffee machine there were a lot of black specks.
Besides that, the room was cozy, but the bed left us itchy.
The staff were very friendly, and very much the highlight of the stay.
The inn is very well positioned near the ochanomizu station and has several shopping areas within walking distance (15-60 minutes walk we found 3 good areas).

this hotel was absolutely amazing. the staff was so nice, friendly and also very welcoming. i booked another hotel in a different area before my stay only to then rebooked chinzanso because i missed it. i would 100% recommend this hotel whether it’s your first stay in tokyo or you’ve been there before. amazing.
the garden during the day and at night is breath taking. i could have spent so much time there. when i come back to tokyo i will 100% be staying here again.

The service level was exceptional. I experienced truly professional hospitality throughout my stay. The room was cleaned to a very high standard, and it was both spacious and comfortable. The garden view was beautiful, and the environment was quiet and relaxing. I have no complaints at all.

The staff was unbelievably courteous and enhanced our visit in Japan. Evenings in the 100 year old garden was memorable...being engulfed in a sea of mist. The \"high tea\" roast beef dinner was a highlight for the family. The rooms were tended nightly. Mornings were comforting with the daily paper and in-room tea and coffee.

Really enjoyed our stay here, stayed 4 nights in a garden facing room. Was so beautiful at night to watch the sea of clouds.
Staff were all really friendly and helpful, including cafe/bar and front door staff.
Enjoyed turn down service, the chocolates were a hit for our 8year old.
The room style is older, but quite updated. Stayed here purely due to watching the anime Sangetsu no Rion (March comes in like a lion)
The banquet hall and massive chandelier was exactly as I'd imagined.
Hotel is a little out of the way, but a bus 白61 stops just across the road and even travels to Shinjuku so it was quite easy to get around. Under 10mins walk along the river to Edobashi station, with lots of access to other stations. Not to mention, they always have a line of taxis which was a lot more convenient for us especially in winter.

Amenities were great, nothing lacking. There was also a tablet in the bathroom, this was great while I was doing my hair haha

We enjoyed hightea at le Jardin, the moomin tea was beautiful. They catered to my allergies and even set out a birthday plaque on my tower.

I very much enjoyed our stay at the hotel as they provided a lot of baby necessities. Baby crib, chair, bottle, bottle cleaner, even baby slippers and toiletries. The housekeeping was beyond expectation and the in-room dining was quick and delicious. We also got free self-parking from Expedia which was a boon. Overall, recommended for families with infants but make sure to arrange transportation beforehand as it's not so close from subway.

The Hotel Chinzanso is now the only place we will stay in Tokyo. They took such good care of us and the gardens are so beautiful that we can’t imagine staying anywhere else. We also think it is a very good value when you account for all of the amenities.

We knew that Hotel Chinzanso had a private garden for guests but we had no idea how beautiful and unique it is. The actual name for the garden is “Forest Aurora and Sea of Clouds”. The “sea of clouds” effect is created by generating a mist that covers the streams and pools. At night they add a tasteful laser show and a gong to enhance the experience. It is magical.

The garden has a koi pond that is home to dozens of beautiful fish. There is also a tranquil waterfall and water wheel. There are also statues of deities lining many of the paths. On top of the hill resides a classic pagoda with a shrine inside. We spent hours exploring the grounds during our stay. It was very peaceful and relaxing.

Our suite was a “superior room garden view”. Definitely get the garden view. It was surprisingly spacious. Lots of classy amenities like electric curtains. It had a very executive feel to it. First rate!
