Very welcoming, and comfortable hotel. Large rooms. Well located in quiet university neighbourhood. Beautiful parks, ancient temples, shrines and restaurants within walking distance. Shuttle to metro station.

Beautiful hotel. Bed too hard for my personal preference. Booked a suite for the space and it didn’t disappoint. Shame the garden was off limit during our stay which is something I was looking forward to. Great breakfast. A bit far from the station but they have a shuttle bus. Overall happy to stay there.

This hotel offers an incredible value for Tokyo, from our experience. Wife and I booked a night here in early March 2026 and ended up extending our stay for another three nights. For rates comparable to the typical sub 200 square-foot micro-rooms at other hotels, the Righa Royal rooms we booked were over 400 square feet.

Even better, there was a door between the sleeping area and the hallway to the front door and bathroom, another door sealing off the bathroom, and another door to the toilet. This was very welcome, especially at night so one person had a better chance of not waking up the other.

The hotel and rooms have that old elegant look, as compared to the basic furnishings at the typical Shinjuku accommodations. Even so, there were modern fixtures such as plenty of outlets, tea kettle, etc.

The shuttle to the nearby Takadanobaba metro station was a welcome and highly appreciated amenity. During our stay, it picked up twice an hour at the hotel and metro station. Last pickup at Takadanobaba was at 9:40pm.

Hotel staff were extremely helpful and most spoke English. Very special thanks to Santosh, who spoke great English, as well as Japanese, Hindi and Nepalese, if I recall correctly. He made our stay a delight and was super helpful on a number of occasions.

We didn't try any of the hotel restaurants so can't comment on those.

Children are banned from the pool and their is an additional charge. No self serve ice. You have to order room service if you want ice. Also, no self-service laundry facility. The shuttle service starts at 9:00AM. In my opinion that is too late for when we needed it. The hotel is not located near any tourist attractions.

From the time i gt to the hotel the staff and the room was amazing. It was my husband and daughter first time out of the country and they didnt realize how humble others could be. The staff made sure we were greeted and treared from the day we arrive to the day we left. The rating of a 5 isn't the proper value to give this hotel. I would give them a 9.8 star. Thank you everyone for makkng my husband dream come true.

The hotel was nicely decorated and the staff were very polite and nice and could speak English. The location was a bit inconvenient. We had to take a shuttle to and from the station. No laundry on site, which isn’t suitable for people staying around for more than a day or 2 - we saved our laundry for the next hotel, which had laundry on site. We had to get a junior suite even though we were 2 adults and 2 kids (a 7 day old and a 10 year old) and basically paid for 4 adults. They had 3 beds stacked awkwardly in the bedroom portion and a 4th bed in the living room, which ruined the ambiance. My kids aren’t that big so we ended up with 3 beds (but could have dealt with 2 beds). At least we had a living room after the 4th bed was removed.

I really liked the location (leafy, near Waseda University, away from the hectic activity of Shinjuku, Asakusa, etc., but easy to travel all over Tokyo as well as to and from airports. I also really liked my room: spacious, rather \"old school,\" in a good way. Because of carpeting and upholstery, there are a few stains, but much warmer atmosphere in comparison with modern hotels with hard, easy-to-clean surfaces.

Great sized room with plenty of restaurants within the hotel itself and a lovely quiet location away from crazy Tokyo. Perhaps it was a little isolated as there weren't many other restaurants within walking distance. It was a 15 minute walk to the local train station however they did offer a shuttle. There is also a local bus a block away which we used a few times and a tram 3 blocks away. Next time I would stay a little closer to the action although we had a great stay and the staff were very helpful.

The freebies in the bathroom were really great, the power in the shower was amazing. The hotel has an old classic feel and is designed beautifully. The breakfsst could be imrpoved with a few more hot vegetarian options but otherwise fine. The fresh orange juice was a great touch.

We ended up staying at the Rihga at the beginning and end of our recent trip to Tokyo because we loved the hotel so much! We traveled with our 8yr old son and the additional room was awesome plus the view of the garden is stunning! The staff is super friendly and accomodating, the shuttle is an incredible feature the hotel offers which was one of the reasons we booked it in the first place, it takes you to the main train station in the area, (approx a 10min bus ride) to Takadanobaba Station and at the drop off there are tons of restaurants and shopping options.

The only complaint we had was that Expedia advertises this hotel as having a pool, however what it doesnt mention is that 1. Its 3300 yen per person/per entry roughly $30CAD 2. its part of their health club so no children under 12yrs old can go in and 3. nobody with visible tattoos can go in. This was REALLY dissapointing and i do believe expedia should include a disclosure with this pool feature as it was another big reason we chose this hotel as i know most families with children do love having a pool.

The service of the staff was excellent. They were all helpful and took care of any need you had, definitely the highlight of the stay. However, there was an earring left behind on the floor and a bit of mold on the shower ceiling that soured the experience. The bed is also a bit stiff.

This was our 2nd time staying at this hotel- the last time was back in 2015- and I'm happy to say the service is still just as wonderful. The staff overall are very friendly and welcoming, but I especially want to highlight Santoz and Jimme for their outstanding service.The shuttle is also very convenient , which make this location even better. Everything about our stay was excellent, and we truly appreciate the warm hospitality. we look forward to coming back again.

If you want to feel like royalty, stay here. The hotel staff immediately greets you at check in and seats you to walk you through the check in process. The Bell attendant escorted us to the room and explained all the amenities. I wish I had more time to stay and take in the restaurants but I did try the room service which was beyond delicious and well priced. There’s also a nice garden attached to the hotel which was an added perk. Absolutely an amazing hotel.

I travel to Tokyo frequently for work, so I'm very accustomed to Japanese hotels, but this was my first stay at Rihga Royal. It's billed as a high-end hotel, but is more of an average hotel with gaudy decor. The staff were all very pleasant and the stay was acceptable, but the property has not been very well maintained. I booked a \"luxury double\" room, but it was much more cramped than the photos suggested and the furniture was quite worn. Cleanliness was very poor by Japanese standards. There were peanuts and cookie crumbs all over the room floor when I checked in, so they obviously didn't vacuum at all. And they still didn't vacuum after I put out the \"please clean the room\" door hanger. There was also some dried food on the desk that I had to wipe up. Overall it wasn't terrible, but there are much better options at this price point in Tokyo.

we used the hotel shuttle to and from the station. The ride to the station went smoothly, but I had issues returning. On two separate occasions, the shuttle did not show up at the scheduled pickup time, even though we were waiting at the designated location. This caused inconvenience and delays. I hope this can be addressed for better reliability going forward.

This is one of the few hotels that will allow 4 people in one suite and they setup two twin size beds for the kids.
Staff was very friendly and helpful though few people spoke English very well — they did have a couple of native English speakers but had to catch them when available.
The lobby and restaurants were very nice. The room clearly needs renovation as the furniture, carpets, and walls need cleaned or replaced. Overall very happy with our stay and consider it a good value.

The staff were excellent and friendly. We were greeted with an English speaking agent on arrival and he provided us wet towels to refresh and brought all our luggage to our rooms. They have a free shuttle that picks you up and drops off to Takadanababa station every 30 minutes. We preferred to walk 10 minutes to Waseda station which is next to a big grocery store. There is a huge garden attached to the property that is very quiet. We enjoyed a beautiful high tea at the garden cafe onsite. We also had a really delicious meal at the Chinese restaurant onsite. We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again. Must try the bakery across the street!

We enjoyed staying in a Jr. suite. The room overlooked a beautiful garden. There was a basket with disposable items that you may have forgotten (toothbrushes, hair brushes, razor, etc.) which was very handy. There were plenty of electrical outlets to charge devices. The room was spacious, the lobby was luxurious and the staff was extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is pretty inconvenient, but they offer a shuttle that brings you close to the train station. Shuttle only runs until 9:30pm so you need to get an Uber to get back to hotel after.

The best unexpected aspect of this hotel was the shuttle bus to the closest jr station making transport around Tokyo so much easier. Facilities where generally good my only complaint was that the mattresses where a little too hard for my tastes but otherwise would definitely recommend the hotel.

This property was overall nice, but was dated. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the AC did not work in our first room. They were extremely accommodating and moved us rooms when we notified them about the AC. The buffet breakfast was lacking in addition to being over priced. If they make these minor changes. I could see this hotel being a five star property in the future.
