Decent hotel, good location

Lobby area was.very nice and modern, however the actual rooms really need updating. The room was clean but it felt like it hadnt been updated since the 90s.

Having said that the amenities were good and the kitchen facilities were useful. Location was ideal and within walking distance of the metro station and supermarket.

The hotel facilities were clean, comfortable, large rooms contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Although we experienced a minor issue with the air conditioning at first, the front desk staff handled it promptly and professionally by relocating us to a new room, which we greatly appreciated.
I would especially like to thank Mrs. Maria Garvasio, the breakfast attendant, who truly made a lasting impression. She welcomed every guest with genuine warmth and a friendly smile, creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere each morning. Her attention to detail, professionalism, and kind demeanor brought an extra level of care to the breakfast experience. It's clear that she takes great pride in her work, and it did not go unnoticed.

Exceptional service like hers greatly enhances the overall guest experience. Thank you, Mrs. Garvasio, and heartfelt thanks to the entire team!

The hotel was fairly nice. The staff were excellent and very nice and helpful. The rooms were not very clean but also not incredibly dirty. Dust under all the furniture and in the corners and some stains in the couch but there were no bugs or anything like that. The kitchen was quite good and we used it often. The room was large and quite comfortable.

Hotel reception appears to be modern but the rooms are very outdated with old furniture and the old appliances which were causing issues to not operate effectively. Further, during breakfast, the staff were not at all friendly and started clearing the breakfast before time.

Friendly staff and clean-ish rooms. Some of the things such as the shower head needed a deeper clean. Air con could be slightly stronger but the room was overall nice and cool. The rooms are dated but everything was still functional and clean. One major thing we needed was outdoor furniture for the balcony so we can enjoy the weather outside

We stayed for two nights and unfortunately the room given had broken curtain, which when mentioned was fixed, shower only having dripping water, not enough towels, blocking of water in the tub. Hairdryer not working, machine was making loud noise and no air coming from it. At any point after informing the reception no mention of room change or anything. I would like part of the money as basic needs where not met

Definitely a good place for the price

It was an overall pleasant stay in this hotel. Not far from the nearest metro to the centre, friendly staff and great facilities. Rooms could use an update in terms of the decor, the air con was not working properly and the phone was pretty useless when trying to contact reception (either that or they dudnt answer)....but all and all, thoroughly enjoyed my stay

The property itself is nice and clean. However the air conditioning in our bedroom wasn't working and it was so hot that day. But we ask the receptionist downstairs and ask if we can transfer to a different room. And they were very helpful without hesitant. The room is spacious and nicely decorated. We had small kitchen but no kettle which is quite important for me. Breakfast was nice specially the croissants❤ The grocery shop is about 7- 10 mins walk and same as metro station. I would recommend this hotel...

Our stay was very good. We stayed in the studio room. The room was spacious and clean. They provided what we asked for and was no in the room and reception staff very friendly. Location easy access to underground station and number of places to eat available in close proximity. Will choose to stay again.

expecting more from a 4 stars hotel

location: not far from city center if you take the metro

comfort: average , nothing surprisingly; the bathroom was spacious, but the sound that was triggered when you started using the shower was too dubious and the first reaction was to stop it. Then it seemed to be a part of the water installation. You had a Skrillex concert while you were showering.

cleanliness: our room was cleaned only once in 4 days , it was a first; maybe it's hotel's policy or they didn't have enough personnel , who knows

Reception employees were kind and helpful.

it was the first 4 star hotel without a bar/restaurant I've seen.But they have a vending machine with overrated prices of course. The coca-cola bottle is only 5 or 6 times more expensive than the standard price. I know they are trying to earn some money, but they should open a bar to be more successful.

The Wi-Fi signal was extremely weak. You could stay on wireless for about 2-3 minutes and then you'll get back to your mobile data.

The TV is almost pointless as most of the TV channels were with low signal. The actual TVs need replacement.

the light switches are so old, that their color turned from white to yellow-ish.

Lobby space was quite nice and quiet.

As the room has been cleaned only once in 4 days, of course no one came to add/replace shower gel or shampoo so you need to use your own.

For a 4 star rated hotel, there are a lot of things to improve.

It is really far by foot to the main sights and centre but you can go by subway. 2 euros. Breakfast was fine. Shutters available in the room and a balcony. Gym - basic. Free water in gym. 2 bottles of water provided and toiletries but no info sheet in room. When we asked for things at reception sometimes they were available but you have to ask!! We had to ask for a kettle and cups and no tea, coffee or milk provided in room. Italian tv with only cnn news in english. Wifi was good. Lift etc good. Lidl very nearby if you want to shop - our room had microwave and grill nut no equipment or cutlery!!

A Lovely Hotel, recommendable.

The exterior of the hotel is not great, and neither is the view, but the interior was lovely.
Our room was like a small comfortable apartment, with fridge, freezer and hob.
The staff were helpful and pleasant and polite.
It’s out of the centre but very near the metro station, and has plenty of cafes and shops nearby.

On arrival there were building works taking place around the front of the hotel (could hear throughout the hotel). Staff were reasonably pleasant. Location was good. Found what looked like blood on the duvet, reported it and not even an apology just what room was it. 15 minutes later some people came up and collected the duvet and had to wait to receive a new one. My girlfriend had a bath which grazed all her back when she tried to sit into it. The room seemed to be 50 years out of date. Beds were separate and were like sleeping on a concrete block. Walls were really thin as we could hear the couple next door argue everyday. 1 set on cutlery even though two of us stayed there. If we needed to iron anything we had to go to the 8th floor. The room wasn't cleaned on the final day (21st Oct) and water was never refilled. The only night I had my top off I had lots of bites all over my back. When we checked out didn't get asked about our stay, didn't even get a `ciao` as we left.

appeared to be a bargain - but hotel on a noisy main road, building work being carried on outside, took forever to check in. wall paper stained and ripped, grouting in bathroom discoloured and mouldy and we got bitten by something living in the bed.

Good hotel at good calm location, friendly staff and easy to find. We did arrive at 10 am from New York and room was not ready for this time but we got key in 20 min waiting in lobby. Room was big with nice view, big bathroom and even small kitchen. Bad news - for Wi-Fi you have to pay. Breakfast at 8 floor was very good, don't be late to have nice selection of everything. 10 min to walk to Marche metro stop. Small restaurant across the street and one block right was excellent and only 10 euro, 3 blocks more and there is Pizzeria. There is big free parking if you have car.

Dirtiest bathroom I have ever come across in a hotel. Had to request a change which was facilitated, however the new room was only slightly better. Internet was expensive and was painfully slow. TV broken. Oldfashioned and worn interior. Also, room size was smaller than indicated. Not acceptable.

Nice hotel! The room was big and comfortable. One point that needs improvement is the service (we asked to change from a twin room to a double bed if possible and while the reception told us they will do it, it never happened). Also, the breakfast buffet was a bit poor (we were expecting more from a 4* hotel). The area is quiet and the Metro is 5-10 mins away on foot. In general, we were satisfied from our stay but there is certainly room for improvement.

it took 40 minutes to check in. the receptionist said its because we booked on line. they have a tourist tax. it was 30 euros for 2 people for 3 nights. rip off. hotel was an hour walk from the city. wifi was 6 euros for 1 day. not fair. breakfast was average. the eggs smelt rotten. not joking. it litterally stunk. there is definitely better places to stay in milan.

Good location but needs facilities improvements

i stayed twice on this trip, both times the Internet situation was unreliable and they seemed powerless to correct it. In addition, they block my cell usage within the room,thus I had to go outside to make a call. I must say one front desk employee, Omar, was fantastic. He could answer any questions posed to him and made my stay easier.

My husband and I stayed here for some days. Buffet breakfast is good for European standards, easy access to Metro with a bus stop nearby. Elevators have a very bad small as they have carpets that seem that they never clean them. I had to stop breathing everytime I took them.

Very close to the Marche metro stop, with some good restaurants not too far away (the restaurant across the street was excellent and affordable). We didn't have a car, so metro access to the Expo and downtown sights was important for us. Breakfast had some hot food as well as the usual items. Staff were always helpful and spoke English. An affordable place with large room and good location in such a big city.

The people at the reception were really friendly.. the rooms are OK not more or less.. the smell in the room was horrible, probably from cleaning liquids. But the room was not that clean itself.. the breakfast buffet had some variety but the quality is below average. It's a price worthy hotel for a one night stay.. wouldn't have been there for more than one night.

Disappointing to be charge for internet

I was very shocked that the hotel charges for internet connection when in Milan you can get free WiFi even on the streets.
Very nice staff but the hotel management should review this rule. Also the breakfast was a bit disappoint, first hotel I stay in Italy that provide a very limited choice of breakfast in a very small room in proportion to the size of the hotel.

Stayed in this hotel for business. It's well outside the tourist area of Milan and the area it's in is high-rise residential. However, it's a well priced hotel, the breakfast (which was included) was great - there was even a nice barrista on hand to froth up a cappuccino at no extra cost - and the room was generously sized. TV channels were rubbish. The thing that I'd take issue with is the cost of wi-fi, which is ridiculously expensive. Even though it's an expensable charge, I chose not to use it at all. Wake up - it should be free! Other than that, it's a short walk to the Metro which'll get you to Duomo in less than 15 mins for 2 euros. If you want to eat locally, the restaurant directly opposite provides a good standard of classic Italian dishes at very reasonable rates - a nice, busy, local eatery. Overall, very happy.

Good hotel with large rooms / kitchenettes, however lacking some of the service standards of a proclaimed 4-star hotel... only one person at the reception at any given time so there is often a long wait to speak to someone. Actually only one staff on duty in total it seemed, as there was no bell staff or concierge in staff. Also poor air conditioning. Free parking and close enough to attractions though make it good for driving visitors.

Adequate for short business stays

1 of our rooms was not ready even tho we arrived 24 hours late, we had to wait before we could unpack. There is a fair bit of building work still going on in the hotel and we were told that as a result the air conditioning wasnt working effectively. The suite that I shared with my 12 year old n 5 months kids was unbearably uncomfortable during the night n we were sweating like pigs as the AC in there was very noisy and blew out hot air!d We had to sleep with the balcony windows and doors open and I worried about the security as we had two workmen access the same balcony from the adjoining room the next day and calmly started working whilst I was in the room with the kids! It took 2 nights of complaining and requesting before we were finally moved to another room, the ac in this one was just as noisy, and not that effective but much better than the sauna we had before. The staff especially at night were very helpful and approachable and gave us all the info we needed ad tourists. Breasfast was mostly continental style with scrambled eggs and cocktail style sausages as the only hot option.

On the website, the hotel looked very nice! Being rated 4 stars I was very disappointed when we arrived! The hotel from the outside looked very poor and it was more of a construction site! The surrounding area of the hotel felt like we were in the projects, not in italy on a city break! We were very disappointed! Our view from the hotel room were tower blocks and graffitied walls! Not a nice view at all! Not much to do in the area so and we had to find the city centre via subway or taking a taxi! The hotel staff were very nice and helpful, the room was a mini apartment and was cosy! The gym they advertised was basic and not a very welcoming environment so we did not use it in the end! There was no swimming pool as we had expected! We were entitled to bed and breakfast but only had it once as it was not to our taste! We made the most of our experience but we would not go back!

I have stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. We were allocated in a room on 8 floor with air conditioning not working at all. After spoke to one of reception very friendly and helpful Marius we were changed to a very nice room with a spacious living room and seperate bedroom with balcony. Bed very comfy, plenty of space, walking wardrobe. Hotel doesnt look nice from outside and area isnt nice as well but good location, 5 minutes walking distance to Metro and bus stops. Breakfast was ok, selection of pastries, jams, cereals, scrambled eggs, ham and cheese. Shame about wifi very expensive for 24 hours 17 euro. If you are looking for a hotel with good money value and you are not very demanding customer you can book it.

Tidy, clean and comfortable.

This is a clean comfortable hotel. The staff and the service was very good. It's decoration is dated and it lacks modern touches. It's out of town so you need to be prepared to use public transport or pay for taxi's that are expensive.

Good hotel, a little hard to find.

Great staff and they let us check in at 9 AM. The only downside was that the directions were not great and we had to have a friendly old man show us where the hotel was.

Nice hotel, 10 mins walk from transit

The hotel service is great. 4 start hotel at 3 star prices. Spacious room equiped with TV, fridge and stove (even!).
Location is a bit of an issue, unless you drive or don't mind walking to the nearest streetcar stop or the subway, which is about 10-15 mins walk from the hotel.

Good for a short and long stay hotel.

Hotel Contessa Jolanda is old one but it obviously have been renovated recently. Rooms are spacious enough and they well-appointed (including fridge and microwave). It is situated at good residential district near to Miachachini Metro station - just 10 minutes walk distance. We had only two minor problems - one oft the taps in bathroom was not worked properly and air condition was too noisy. Maybe maintenance staff should work harder.

the airconditioning is the only problem

the airconditioning is very poor in this hotel the rooms we had were all the same, the receptionist was very nice and offered another room which was better but still the rooms are fairly warm.
the hotel is nearby the metro station, yet not in the best area of milan

10 minute walk to metro

Great hotel. Large room and large bed! close to train, Missed out on the breakfast due to our flight time. About 60 km by car to Milapensa airport.

Nice hotel and lovely staff

The hotel reception area is very nice. The staff are really helpful and provided an excellent customer service. There was a problem with the air conditioning system, which meant that we had towels on the floor for the duration of our stay - soaking up the water which dripped from the ceiling. Had to dodge the drips to get into the bathroom. We were offered a different room, but at the same time told that the problem was throughout the hotel. The neighbourhood was made up of lots of shops which mostly appeared to be shut and wasnt dis-similar to the american projects as they are shown on tv. There was nothing to do in the area at all... The hotel is located about half a mile from the metro station which is really good and the metro system was fantastic. For a business trip this hotel is probably ok, but for leisure (esp. if you want to stay local and have a drink etc on an evening) then its not the best.
